Resolution Problems with 30-inch Apple Display and my new iMac

I'm not very good at computers, so I could use some help. I just bought a new iMac 24-inch, 3.06 Duo and I have an Apple 30-inch display I had connected to my MacBook Pro. Now I can't get a resolution better than 1280x800 and the cinema screen flickers a bit. I bought a mini-DVI to Dvi Adaptor. What else am I doing wrong? The display is enormous on the cinema display and I need to use that for my photography. Help anyone, please?

i'm not sure if you area sking this... but it seems like the info about the iMac is not to do with the problem, but your problem is with the 30 inch screen and the macbookPro?
If you are asking about a macbookPro plugging into the 30 inch screen, these should be able to run full resolution from what i remember,
you need to check that you are NOT trying to run mirrored desktop as this will limit the resolution to the maximum possible of the smaller display (your macbookpro) which will mean you can only go up to 1280x800 but if you uncheck the 'mirror display' option you should be able to set independent settings for each screen.

You need to use a dual-link DVI adaptor to get a higher resolution from that display.

You should have a Firewire 800 port and a Thunderbolt port.
The easiest way would be to use the Firewire 800 port.

I recommend you install nothing older than the Apple-firware 5770, about US$250.

Well, it seems waiting is not my strong suit..! I renamed a javascript file called recovery to sessionstore. This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542
If someone knows how to fix this and make firefox launch normally, please reply! Thank you

Problems with iTunes 10.6.1 and Apple TV 3.0.2

I'm having problems with syncing my Apple TV (ATV) 3.0.2 to iTunes 10.6.1: Only a random sub-set of my music and videos appears against the ATV in iTunes and a different sub-set is actually showing on the ATV itself. There are no error messages reported and the ATV is visible in iTunes. I have tried the following:
Rebooting the ATV - no difference
Disconnecting from iTunes and then reconnecting - no difference
Performing a factory reset on the ATV - when the ATV first came back (with software version 2.whatever) all of my media was visible against the ATV in iTunes and on the ATV. However, once it had updated to the latest level (3.0.2) I was back to square one!
Has anyone else found this problem and, if so, is there a fix or work-around?

I have an old macbook too.
It seems like Apple writes new software that makes older computers not work as well.
I always have reservations about updating with an older model.

Resolution problems with second display

I recently attached my old 30" cinema display to my new iMac with a minidisplay to DVI-D adaptor, and I can't get a resolution above 1280x800 for the 30"! Does anyone know what I have to do to enable the full resolution choices? Any help would be appreciated!

So does anyone have experience with the Envision 22" LCD display (G2219w1)?
It works well with my 5-year-old PowerMac G4 BUT with the MacBook the whites and grays are tinged with color and the overall colors are overly saturated. Moreover, the pictures are grainy and text is muddy. I can't seem to find a good match of resolution after trying several combinations. It's reasonably sharp at 1680x1050 but the image is quite small (about 3" border on all sides which is pretty much the same size as the MacBook).
Is there anything I can do? I've tried lots of adjustments on the LCD and in the display configuration on the MacBook.

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina Display RAM Failure?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina Display on Christmas at an Apple Retail Store, and I was experiencing some lag. The lag occurred when creating simple graphical animations, like swiping to reveal Mission Control. So I took it in. The diagnostics were fine, so they said that they'd try and repair it. After a few days, I got a call and they told me that I have bad RAM. And being a computer freak, I understand that it is part of the lo-bo. Now they have to order an entirely new logic board, and I have to wait even longer.
For $1700, that was disappointing. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
