Resolution Xtra and secondary monitor

Hi
I'm using Resolution xtra to change the resolution on my
monitor
My PC with windows XP has 2 monitors
And when I change resolution for primary monitor, using
function
cSuccess =
gResXtra.set_resolution(cResWidth,cResheight,cResMode,gResXtra.get_primary_display())
then resolution on secondary monitor is also changed. I'm not
sure but it
can be that resolution on secondary monitor changes to some
other dimentions
as on primary monitors
Any suggestions?
Any help will be appreciated
game_dev

Depends ALOT...
There are graphic cards where the resolution set in the first
monitor must be equal to the second, and so the driver itself will
adjust the second one when the primary one is changed.
On windows can you set-up different resolutions? Or are the
resolutions linked up? [one way to link them is to have a "wide"
virtual monitor that some other drives allows to configure]
Hope it helps,
Kindaian

  • Windows 8.1 screen bounces between primary and secondary monitors

I have a Lenovo T530 laptop with a docking station and a IBM monitor L200P attached to it.
Up until yesterday, this configuration was running Windows 8 Pro with no issues.
However today, after I installed the Windows 8.1 upgrade, I started having problems with the screen bouncing between the primary and secondary monitors without my intervention. The problem happens very regularly, regardless of whether I have selected the laptop as primary monitor or the IBM monitor attached to the docking station.
I verified that the problem does not happen with Windows 7 and Windows 8 installation and only starts appearing after the Windows 8.1 upgrade is applied.
    Does anybody have similar problems
    Thank you in advance.

another thing you could try is this: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx'''.
double-click it and change its value to '''1.2''' (or any other zoom factor that fits your purpose: 1.0 relates to 100%, 1.2 equals 120% and so on; -1.0 is the default value and will adhere to the system settings).
    </blockquote>
Okay, I tried it, set it to 1.2 and even more stuff got blurry and fuzzy. Besides everything in the FF menu bar everything in the header on youtube and a few other pages did it too. It did make the pages fill the actual page better, but the blur is worse than this prob so I set it back to -1.0.
    Any other ideas?

  • Windows gets rearranged in Windows 8.1 and secondary monitor when computer goes to sleep

I have a MacBook Air 2013 with a secondary monitor installed through a mini-display port-HDMI cable. I also have bootcamp installed in Windows 8.1 64 bits with all the latest drivers installed. The problem that I have is that when the computer wakes after it goes to sleep, all the windows in the non-primary monitor moves to the primary monitor and I have to re-arranged them all over every time.
    What I tried so far:
    1. Installed the latests drivers from Microsoft and Intel HD Graphics 5000.
    2. Look for the DMMEnableDDCPolling in the registry. (not found only available for ATI cards)
    3. Change the mini-displayport-HDMI cable for a new one that doesn't transmit the "power" so that computer do not detect that the monitor was shutdown.
    4. Change the resolution on boths monitors to native resolution
    5. Change the primary display from external monitor to laptop monitor
    6. Changer HKLM\Software\Microsoft\TMM\UseIViewHelper from 1 to 0
    7. Try to get an answer from Apple, Intel and microsoft support.

PLEASE HELP! I Don't know what else to do!
This do not happend on MacOS, is happends only in Windows.
    Thanks, Andres Rormoser.

The only solution that I found so far was to install Actual Window Manager, separate the secondary monitor in tiles, assign each window to each tile, add a shortcut to start/stop ActualWindowManager and every time the computer wakes up with the windows re-arranged I press the shoutcut and everything goes back to my predifined layout.

  • Expose activates on both primary and secondary monitor corners

    Hi all
I am using a dual monitor setup. Laptop screen as primary and a vga monitor for secondary running though a minidisplay to vga adapter. This is setup as an extended desktop. The 3 corners of the primary monitor and 2 corners of the secondary monitor can activate my expose settings.
I would think that using an a dual monitor extended desktop setting will allow you to activate expose, through 2 corners of the primary and 2 corners of the secondary assuming they are arranged as side by side screens.
Is this bug that we are waiting for a fix or is this something unique on my side?

During booting in the safe mode the notebook loads only a common drivers and it should be able to see something on the screen.
But if its not possible and you are not able to get the display back on the internal screen then I assume you need to boot form the recovery CD and to reinstall the OS :(
The new installation should overwrite all display settings and the notebook should works.

  • Blank screen after disabling primary and secondary monitor on Satellite A

    Hello,
I tried to connect an LCD on my laptop, at the first place i went control panel -- display -- settings -- advanced -- monitor -- properties -- Device usage: disable!!
That enabled the secondary LCD screen but the most stupid thing is that when I wanted to return back to my laptop screen I followed the same procedure with the LCD screen.
The result is that now both are blank. The laptop's screen turns into blank as soon as starts to load windows. Fn+F5 combination didn't help. I also tried to enter windows in Safe mode but it was not possible.
    Does anybody have any ideas???
    PLEASE.
    Thanks

  • Older macbook pro with broken screen and secondary monitor

So I have an old 2007 macbook pro that was upgraded to mountain lion (I don't remember what version of it though). The screen broke and I'm trying to hook it up to my tv to use it as a screen as a quick fix for now. Of course, it's opening on the second desktop but I need it to open to my normal desktop without being able to see my main screen. Is that possible, and if so, how? Ps. The disc drive doesn't work either so that can't be used.

If you intend to install Leopard, I suppose you have an old MBP, right?
On mine (2007 Core2duo alu, grey keyboard), I can use F7 key to switch display when using an external screen. Does it help?
I'd advise you not to use an external drive, but install your external drive (provided it's 2.5") in your MBP.

  • Resolution on Secondary Monitor

    Hi!
I have upgraded to Mavericks on my 27" late 2012 iMac and I have a secondary monitor hooked up to it...
However, when I upgraded to Mavericks, the resolution on my secondary monitor went very strange and had been blown out of proportion.
I have tried chaging the resolution size for it in system preferences, but none of the options suit the screen to what it was before I upgraded to Mavericks.
Is there anyway I can fix this? Perhaps with a third party application?

Go to system preferences, Displays, then under displays select Arrangment, click and drag on the white bar and put it over the monitor (there will be a red ring around the display). try setting the refresh rate at different numbers to see if that works.

  • Lenovo 3000 and a secondary monitor

I have a Lenovo 3000 V100 Laptop. I want to use a secondary monitor/display. I see the display on both the primary and secondary monitors until windows finishes booting and then the secondary monitor goes blank. I try FN F7 to no avail. I am using windows XP. I assume this is a setup problem.
    Please advise.
    David

Not having your exact model, try this.
    Go to your desktop display.
Position your pointer over part of the display without any icons, open windows, or tasks.
    Right click.
A menu should appear, click on "Properties" or "Graphics Properties" whichever is on the menu.  This should open another menu, one tab on which can be selected to allow you to display the same thing on the internal and an external monitor.   The graphics adapter software on my Lenovo displays its menu this way.   I'm not sure if going through the Control Panel selection will get you to the same point.

  • Full screen mode and secondary display

I am using Aperture with two monitors. The primary viewer is set to 'multi', and the secondary viewer is set to 'alternate'.
When I enter full-screen mode (F), the picture is displayed on the secondary viewer and the filmstrip is displayed on the primary viewer. I want the picture to be displayed on the primary viewer (as it is of better quality). How can I achieve this?
    Thanks!
    Fabrice

You have to switch the primary and secondary monitors using System Preferences >Displays > Arrangement.
Drag the menu bar stripe to the monitor you want to make (temporarily) the primary. Drag it back later.
I have looked for quick way to script this through Apple script but not yet found a way to do it.

  • Why I can't set my secondary monitor as main one.

    Hi,
I'm Korean Macbook User and software programmer(So, I'm not begginer).
I have some problem in setting my Dell 2405fpw as main monitor on Macbook.
I use boot camp to use windows XP pro sp2 in work and always use secondary monitor. But when I setting my Dell 2405fpw or Samsung LSA18TFT Monitor as main monitor, Windows doesn't work as I want. Windows reset Macbook's LCD as main display and Secondary Monitor black out(Using Just One Macbook's LCD). But When I set Macbook's LCD as main monitor and other monitor as sub one, It works well.
I tried everything during last ten days. Upgrading Intel Graphic Driver and Trying with other brand monitors, finding Korean Apple User Forum, sending mail to Intel Supporting, and so on. But it didn't work.
In Korea Apple User Forum, Some user have same symptom with me. There are a lot kinds of case. Someone has latest Macbook and uses latest MAC OS X 10.5.1. But have same problem.
There are anyone solve this problem perfectly?
    Please let me know.

    Hi,
I'm having a silly problem with Access 2010. I can't modify the Detail section ("Corpo" in Italian) of a Form or a Report.
Neither using the onLoad nor the onOpen events.
What am I doing wrong? I load a micro example in my
one drive, if you would spend some time helping me.
    Thanks in advance, Lauro
You should be able to size the detail section of the Form in the open event or onload event.
I don't have 2010 on my PC. Why not post the sample code here?

  • Adjusting resolution on secondary monitor

Hi, I am trying to use a Samsung SyncMaster 2253NW LCD as a secondary monitor (via VGA). The optimal resolution for that display is 1680x1050 (same as my MacBook Pro) but the max res that I am allowed to select for the 2nd display is 1400x1050. Anything I can do?
    Thanks a lot!!

Thanks a lot for your help! You are probably right since I read somewhere else (at least for other MacBooks), that the max resolution that you can get over the VGA is 1600x1200 which is what I am getting. I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro with the high resolution screen but I don´t think this will change the max resolution that you can get over the VGA. Unfortunately, my monitor only has a VGA input so the solution might be to get another monitor with a DVI connection. Thanks again and any more advice is welcomed!!!

  • GE70 2PE secondary monitor resolution issue

So I bought a MSi GE70 2PE yesterday and today I tried connecting it with my tv with HDMI, which has worked fine both with my stationary computer as well as other computers, using the same cable.
Today however when i plugged it into this laptop I got a low 1024 resolution on my tv and the settings for resolution wont allow me to change it to any higher and can't duplicate the screen and extention of screen isn't working properly either as all of my screen apparently can't fit into the 1024 resoltuion, trying to bypass this by changing the resolution while plugging in the HDMI cable the TV just turned black and no sound was transmitted with the HDMI cable.
As far as I can understand for some unknown reason the secondary monitor uses the intel integrated graphics card, I've update the drivers both for this and for the nvidia card.
As for updated drivers, yes all is updated and have tried the general common solutions, the computer was bought yesterday so having a hard time understanding how this can't work properly.
Thanks in advance for any solution.

Actually there is some more questions according to your post:
    1. Does the notebook display normally when it's not connected to any external monitor?
    2. Where did you change the resolution when you try to bypass the issue? In Intel's graphics properties? or on TV?
    3. How did you set the duplicate mode? by using Fn+F2 or WIN+P?

  • I have just upgraded. AND now I can't view video fullscreen on my secondary monitor?!! Why!

    I have a dual monitor set-up, with sharing. I am on a Mac OS X Version 10.7.5
I am viewing my Firefox window on my secondary monitor. (NOT Primary) When I click any video to full-screen it loads the full-screen on my primary monitor. When I click the window to full-screen (on my secondary monitor) it fills the primary monitor.
Before I upgraded, this morning, I could click the full-screen button and my video would appear on the secondary monitor. (The same monitor.) Before this morning, I could re-size the browser window to full-size and view it in my secondary monitor. (The same monitor!)
So, explain to me, why the change? Why is it when I click on a video to enter full-screen, or want to re-size a window to full-screen on my secondary monitor, it views on my primary monitor. Does this make any sense?
Why? Why would somebody want to browse on one monitor, want to watch something fullscreen, click a button and then watch it on another monitor? I just don't get it. Or why would someone be browsing in a window on one monitor, click full-screen, and want to browse in the same window on another monitor?
I am sitting here facing my secondary monitor (which I use as my art-board) and my primary monitor sits to my left. I mainly work from my secondary monitor, so when I am drawing, painting and designing my cursor doesn't 'run into' my dock features, calendar, ext. When browsing in Firefox my window is where it should be, in-front of me. So why would I want to watch a video or browse the web on my left? Why? Why would any developer or designer do this! Especially considering the second, non viewing screen is black! Which means my secondary monitor (in-front of me) is black.
When I click, view full-screen, whether video or resizing windows, whether it is my primary or secondary monitor, don't you think the screen should appear full-screen in the monitor I am using?! Right?! I mean somehow you calculated a way for Firefox to recognize which monitor to reopen in. So what's up? I didn't have this problem last week? So tell me . . . why can't I open a video in full-screen on my secondary monitor like I have been doing for years? Why am I even having to write a complaint about something I used to be able to do. AND NOW I CAN'T.
I just checked Safari. Wow. Look at that! When I want to view a video in full-screen in the appropriate monitor I can! Wow! I can actually click on my secondary monitor and it's recognizes I want to watch the video on the same monitor.
I used to be able to do this in Firefox. I guess it is time to give up on Firefox. And choose a company who understands user-perspective. Or at-least understands what an upgrade is.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • My secondary monitor flashes and blacks out after the 10.7 install.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have installed 10.7 and the secondary monitor flashes and blacks out.  I downgraded back to 10.6 and the problem went away.  I reinstalled 10.7 and the same problem happened again.  The monitor blacks in and out especially when the pointer is placed in the dock area, but it still happens all the time.  My secondary monitor is a ViewSonic 22 inch that is connected to a DVI to display adapter.  Any solutions??
    Thanks

Talked to AppleCare and it's most likely the fact that my MacBook has 3.0 USB ports and my non official charging cable can't support that. So yeah, I'll try a new cable, hopefully that's the fix.
