Resonating Feedback with EMU 404

G'day,
This has only happened a handful of times and I have managed to stop it (generally) by rebooting or force-quitting. Now, for some reason, my computer wants to do it all the time - just wondering if there is a solution other than taking my hammer to the computer.
When I select the interface from the midi tab in preferences, as soon as it's engaged, there is a resonating feedback that stuffs playback and stuffs the recording up. The feedback increases in volume when the mic picks up sounds.
I'm using an EMU 404 and Shure SM microphone.
Any help - urgently need it!
Cheers
Dan

Yeah mate - have already selected it as off. No change!
It happens even when I first open the program and the EMU 404 is selected as the default.
This is doing my head in!

Hi,
I think you can check the authentication settings in IIS for exchange virtual directories.
Thanks,

• Cannot load individual websites; Googling is fine, but URL comes up with a 404 error.

Since I updated Firefox, it seems my internet connectivity in that browser has dropped. I can Google things (not in the URL box, but in the Google box) perfectly, with the exception that sometimes the link clicked from Google doesn't load. However, I cannot actually visit an individual site by entering the URL. If I directly enter the URL, it comes up with a 404 error, site not found. If I try to navigate to some pages from a Google, it comes up with a connectivity problem page. I would really like to be able to use my Firefox again. In the meantime, I'll have to use Google Chrome.

Try clearing Firefox's cookies and cache
Do these steps and then reload the website you're having trouble with.
* Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] , choose History and select Clear Recent History....
* In the Time Range to clear: drop-down, select Everything.
* Click the arrow next to Details to display the list of items that can be cleared.
* Select both Cookies and Cache.
* Click Clear Now.
Moreover, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions:[[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]

• Encoder Feedback with a Servo Motor

I want to use Encoder oder Position feedback with my servo motor in MAX or VIs. How do I do it?
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi Fregue
what LV Version and HW is in use?
I have seen in your other posts you are using a NI UMI-7774,NI PCI 7550, and Labview 2010 is this correct?
If the encoder is connected to the UMI you should be able to see the signals in MAX.
You can select the closed loop step
then the encoder is used to control the positon.
Please check if the microsteps from the motion devcive and the encoder steps per revolution are correct
Then you should able to use the encoder.
You can also use the MAX to check if the encoder is connected correct in the interactive tab.
I hope this helps.

• Can't connect Windows 8.1 Enperprise to Windows Server 2012 Essentials. Get a Digest Login page and then a Blank with HTTP 404 Error page. Need help!

Hi,
I have make a new and clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on my office network server and then i made a new and clean install of Windows 8.1 Enterprise version on one of my office desktops.
After all VPN and Anywhere Access where setup on the server i when to a PC that is inside my office network and browse on Internet Explorer to the URL to connect this PC to the server and make it part of the domain.
But when i browse to the http://MYSERVERNAME/connect im not getting the Windows Server page with the option to download the windows connector. Instead i get a login pop-up saying "iexplore" and "digest". I try to create a user on the server
and use that user login details on this login box, but even then, the only thing i get is a blank page saying a HTTP Error 404.
So can someone please help me on this? Any advice on how to solve this problem in order to show the normal Windows Server connect page?
Thanks

Hi,
Based on your description, please refer to following operations and troubleshoot this issue. Then check if
can help us to narrow down the cause of this issue.
Please type
http://server-IP-address/connect in IE. Then check if encounter the same issue.
On the Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, please open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Navigate to Sites, then right click Default Web Site and select
Edit Bindings… In Site Bindings, select Port 80 and click “Edit…” button. Would you please provide a screenshot of the Edit Site Binding (Port 80) that you can see?
Then please click
Connect which in the list of Default Web Site. In the mid panel, select
.NET Authorization Rules and double click it. Then please check if all users were allowed.
By the way, would you please provide a screenshot of the login page when you browser
http://servername/connect? It may help me to understand this issue clearly.
Meanwhile, please logon a problematic client computer and navigate to the path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows
Server\Logs folder. Then check if there is Computerconnector log file. If there is, please check it if can find some clues. (Please note: the log file is a hidden file. Please open Control Panel, select Folder Options, select View tab and check Show hidden
files, folders and drives. Then you will be able to find the log file.)
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
Hope this helps.

• Advanced Feedback with Drag and Drop Interaction

Hello,
I am trying to create a drag and drop interaction that will blend in a "thumbs up" or a "smiley" after each dragable has been correctly placed. The dragables in my interaction are medical terms and the drop sources are smart shape boxes. Each drop source has been assigned one correct answer, so that when the correct answer has been dragged a "success caption" appears immediately. The opposite occurs with an incorrecty dragged term. I figured, I need a "code" that
askes each dropable if it is the last one to be answered, and when answered correctly, will show the "smiley"
checks if all other dragables have been placed correctly
Since I lack the basic coding knowledge, I am having a hard time trying to figure this one out. Thanks for the help, again!
-Nik

Hi Jay,
Yes, could create such a scenario, but the Submit button is not used in that case, because the feedback will appear immediately when a drag object has been placed on the target. Is that OK?
Here the work flow:
Besides the object, create all the feedback text containers that you need, correct and incorrect and label them so that they are easily recognizable. I labeled them FB_1, FB_2... because my objects were Drop1, Drop2...
Make those feedbacks initially invisible and group them in Gr_FB
Create the drag&drop in the normal way with one correct link
Select the target and in the in the D&D panel, click on the Accept button, change the settings like this
The advanced actions are pretty simple, standard, with two statements: Hide Gr_FB and Show FB_n (with the appropriate feedback container - you cannot use Shared actions in this dialog).
In the D&D panel, choose Infinite for the number of attempts and uncheck the Failure caption.

• Having problems with EMU Xboard-49 drivers and FL Studio (updated)

Hi there, i'm new here.
I'm having a problem with drivers or whatever.
<strike>Sometime ago when i installed the Midi controller, Windows installed automatically so i didn't even need to install the website ones, which it was ok to me. It was working perfect, except the Modwheel didn't work in FL Studio.</strike>
<strike>Today i decided to delete the Windows drivers and install the ones in the website to check if it could solve the problem with the Mod Wheel.</strike>
<strike>While i was installing the website drivers i noticed in google about FL Studio has a problem with Modwheels generally.</strike>
<strike>So well, i tried to install again the automatic Windows drivers, but i can't anymore for some reason, the install program asking something about a Emuumidi.sys from a CD or DVD etc.</strike>
<strike>So i installed the website ones again, but now for some reason, it says to me that it's already installed the last version and the program will close.</strike>
<strike>Emu Xboard 49 seems not working completely now, the parameters numbers which before showed in the LCD are not showed anymore. FL Studio even can't scan it now. And i can't uninstall any driver because i can't find them now.</strike>
<strike>Anyone could give me a hand please? I'm desperate.</strike>
<strike>Thanks for all, i hope you can help me with this.</strike>
<strike>By the way, i'm on Windows XP Home and the Midi controller worked perfect before, but not now.</strike>
EDITED: Now i could "overwrite" the drivers and at least it can be scanned in the Midi devices in FL Studio, but the only thing i can is playing keys, but i can't link/midilearn any knob. If i press or tweak a knob, seems to nothing happens. I tried even to reinitializate with the 4 buttons combination, but looks like the buttons doesn't works, like if they were disabled.
Also, the problem with LCD numbers still off. I can only see a P01, but when i move a knob i can't see the typical 000 to 127 cyphers which i could see yesterday.
Any clue?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
FL Studio is a 3rd party software, the controller knobs available in FL should match the controllers supported by xboards. You might want to browse on the manual page 28 on how to setup the 16 Channel Control Number.
Any FL Studio users out there might want to chime in to comment about this.

• Override IIS default 404 erorr page with CQ 404.jsp

Hi guys,
Anyone is using IIS server?
I have got the 404.jsp and placed it under /apps/sling/serlvet/errorhandler.
All works well until the page is deployed into production enviornment which is running on an IIS server.
Now whenever CQ gets a 404 page, instead of display the customised 404 page instructed by the 404.jsp, the IIS 404 standard (ugly) page gets displayed all the time.
We don't want to change the IIS configuration to be too specific to point to a single jsp page because there are other things running on the IIS server. Any suggestions on making IIS pass on the 404 error and let the application handle it?
many thanks.

Was a solution to this problem ever found? We are also experiencing this same issue with CQ5.5 and IIS7. We followed the instructions for setting up IIS and the dispatcher from the release-notes.txt file found in the dispatcher installation package. We were advised not to follow the instructions found with in the Day documentation for Dispatcher.
Has anyone else got a custom 404 page to work using IIS7? And which set of instructions did you follow?
Thanks.

• Firebox issue: feedback with superfuzz and glam

I've been testing my new firebox and I'm getting horrible feedback (constant squeal) in the superfuzz and glam modes. I've noticed that for most effects, I need to increase the gain on the mic to about 3/4 of the way to get usable levels in garageband. If I increase it any more than that in superfuzz or glam modes the squealing starts. Increasing the headphones volume on the firebox also initiates the feedback. I'm using a new unibody MacBook pro with a 6-9 firewire cable. I'm connecting my electric guitar directly into the mic input (1 or 2). I've tried muting the other input sources in the control panel. I've tried it with and without the 12db boost. I have set the inputs and outputs to the firebox in the Audio/Midi utility, as well as in the Garageband preferences. Another thing is that there is no feedback during playback when monitoring is turned off. Let me know if you have any ideas, or if I should return the firebox. Thanks.

In addition, as you have a new TMS software version, I imagine that you are not using the old Cisco TMS appliance, so you probably have your TMS running under a standard Windows Server, and you probably have firewall, antivirus or any other security program running on that server.
Can you try to completly disable any local firewall and/or antivirus on the Windows where TMS is installed? If TMS begins to work as expected after turning off those security programs, I think you will have to add the TMS's executables as exception to the firewall/Antivirus softwares, so that they won't cause conflict with TMS's services.
In this folder you will find all the executables used by TMS's service:
C:\Program Files (x86)\TANDBERG\TMS\Services
For TMSPE, this is the path for the executable "C:\Program Files (x86)\TANDBERG\TMS\TMSProvisioningExtension\app\bin\wrapper-windows-x86-32.exe"
Try this and give us a feedback. =)
I hope this help.

• Terrible Audio Feedback with iSight?

How can I eliminate terrible high-pitched feed back when using Skype and iSight? I have eliminated the obvious obvious causes -- moved my iPhone to the other side of the room, removed all other electical appliances from desk, moved away from the microphone. The feedback ususally only occurs at my end not at my friend's end. ANy ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?

Welcome to Apple Discussions, Super cooper
Try turning your speaker Volume down as much as possible to see if that helps. If the noise is only a problem from one contact, ask him to try turning down his speaker volume when he Skypes with you.
If you have external speakers connected, point them away from your MBA or move them in front of your MBA to see if either helps.
Try using headphones to see if that stops the feedback.
If you have an external mic, move it as far from your speakers as possible to see if that helps.
See if reducing your System Preferences... > Sound > Input > Input volume helps.

• Soundcard woes with emu 0404

I have a Emu 0404 usb soundcard and its not on the list of cards from /proc/asound/cards. I know that for most people, at least in ubuntu, the card works when you plug it in. I had previously gotten it working by installing the alsa-driver from source, but after a recent upgrade this no longer works. I have tried recompiling and installing the alsa-driver but there are multiple errors when compiling. Can anyone help me getting this working?
Also if at all possible I'd like to try installing this patch from the ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=888022&page=18

update and bump.
I put snd-emu10k1 into the Modules list in rc.conf and the sound card is now shows up in the list of soundcards in alsamixer. snd_emu10k1 however still doesn't appear when I run lsmod.

Any ideas?

• User feedback with maxChar attribute on TextInput

I have a textinput with maxChars=6
i would like to have some sort of user feedback when they attempt to type the 7th char. (red border, tooltip, etc...)
what would be the ideal way to achieve this?
I don't see where there is an event dispatched when a user tries to type the 7th char ?

Hi there,
The change event would be a solution but a slightly more efficient solution would be to simply listen for a keyDown event. Here's a fast example that hopefully will help you get on the right track:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application
xmlns:mx            ="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
backgroundColor     ="#FFFFFF"
layout              ="absolute">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.controls.Alert;
import mx.events.FlexEvent;
import mx.controls.TextInput;
private static const ALLOWED_MAX_CHARS:int = 6;
private function onInputFieldFill(event:KeyboardEvent):void
if (event.charCode != Keyboard.LEFT &&
event.charCode != Keyboard.RIGHT &&
event.charCode != Keyboard.UP &&
event.charCode != Keyboard.DOWN)
var target:TextInput = event.currentTarget as TextInput;
if (target.text.length > ALLOWED_MAX_CHARS - 1)
target.text = target.text.slice(0, ALLOWED_MAX_CHARS);
Alert.show("You tried to add 7 characters!", "ERROR");
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:VBox
width               ="100%"
height              ="100%"
horizontalAlign     ="center"
verticalAlign       ="middle">
<mx:TextInput
id              ="userInputField"
keyDown         ="onInputFieldFill(event)"/>
</mx:VBox>
</mx:Application>
The code I posted is not perfect, it's an older file of mine that I have found and edited a bit so don't use it as it is.

• Prblems with emu 1616m , tried everything...

for many years I have a emu1616m on my windowx XP SP 3 desktop.
Lately i had to reinstall XP due to malware, and since then i cant run Cubase anymore properly with the emu soundcard.
My setup is very simple:
Basically all i do is : I load a mp3 into Cubase, i play a pianopart as a midifile to the mp3, and thats all. The midi Sound is generated with a extern roland sound module. There are no plug ins or software synthezizers runniong in Cubase, i use 2 audio and 4 midi tracks max.
In cubase, the ASIO is set to EMU- ASIO, direct monitoring enabled.
I already downloaded the newest drivers from the Emu site.
So this are the facts.
The Problem: The mp3 and the metronom click are not playing proberly, the mp3 is terribly scratching, with less buffer you can hear a sort of digital distortion, with more the timing of the mp3 is completely gone.
Sometimes i play with the metronome only, but then all my midi parts are playbacked TOO EARLY.
that means that i heard the audio too late when i recorded it.
I reinstalled the drivers and patchmix already three times....
My question:
What else can i do?
Is this problem likely windows XP based, or is it the soundcard? this soundcard is already 7 years old.

-Does the sample rate of the MP3 match the patchmix or Cubase? That distortion might be a sample-clock problem, internal versus external?... I don't know anything else,,, sorry... Make note what ver. of Cubase (VST? from the e-mu software bundle?) you use.. I had similar problems back when I used my EMU 1860m and it was the Cubase software just being flawed. I also had to rethink how I channeled my ASIO or DirectSound drivers (Whatothers there are.) It was odd to see two sets of mixers instead of there being only one. The most straight forward thing to use might be the directsound or soundmapper drivers in Cubase.

• Need help with Emu 0404 and DSP Effects

Hi,
This might be a bit of a noob question, but I'm completely new to the world of recording and effects. I have the Emu 0404 PCI soundcard and I'm trying to record sth with the DSP effects. I used the standard settings with ASIO send (PCI Card in L) and added effects, but when I use a recording program only the clean signal is recorded. I tried moving the send insert at the end of the list, but that didn't help. So how can I record sth with the DSP effects? I couldn't really find anythinguseful in the help file.

I have the same issue, anyone know a way around this? I have
a image i wish to grow onmouse over, then using the same behavior
but shrink with mouseout, it gets some wierd issues, like if you
put the mouse in between it oscillates back and forth, its not
smooth.
