Resource group and node

Hi to all.
How to attach resource group and node?
i.e. when i shutdown my node0. All resources switch to node1.
I want:
When my node0 boot then my resource group switch back.
How I should make this?
Thanks

On node1:
nfl-node1# clrg show | grep Nodelist
Nodelist: nfl-node2 nfl-node1
Nodelist: nfl-node2 nfl-node1
Nodelist: nfl-node2 nfl-node1
nfl-node1#
On node2:
nfl-node2# clrg show | grep Nodelist
Nodelist: nfl-node2 nfl-node1
Nodelist: nfl-node2 nfl-node1
Nodelist: nfl-node2 nfl-node1

ya , it is very simple. you can use the APIs for creating group, form etc,.
    Use this link [APIs Guide|http://74.125.153.132/search?q=cache:Rkz-kX1n6sMJ:download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32386_01/generic.902/b32144.pdf+guide+oracle+identity+manager+API&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=in]

  • Two resource groups one on each node.

Hi I am setting up a sun cluster with two nodes and storage.
I want to run oracle and weblogic.
I dont want to run both on the same server as the load matters and there are two boxes which can be used.
I am planning to setup two resource groups with logical hosts one on each box and buind oracle to one and weblogic to second logical host on the other box.
    Now my requirement is,,
I want first box to be primary for oracle resource group and second box to be primary for weblogic resource group.
Can you please tell me how to configure different resource groupes to start on different boxes?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Ramesh.

Hi, This document talks about bonding the resources in different ways. But doesnot suggest setting dependency between resources in different resource groups.
To make it little more clear.
I have box1 and box2 as nodes of cluster.
the resources are distrebuted as follows.
    -----Box 1-------------------------Box2-------
    resourcegroup1--------Resourcegroup2
    logicalresource1-------logicalresource2
    Weblogicresource-----Oracleresource
I will configure the resources to start on different nodes on startup by providing node list in different sequence for each resource group.
But I want to set the dependency here..the "WeblogicResource" should not start before "Oracleresource".
Can I straightaway set the dependency as we do for resources in same group or is there any other method to do this?
Since I donot have a ready/usable test cluster I am unable to try it before posting the question.
Please let me know the possible solution for this.

I guess you set Failover_mode for the siebelsrvr1_m_stor and siebelsrvr1_m_nfs to something else than HARD, because normaly if something like this happens it would have aborted/rebooted node hspcsuncrm6.
You need to clear the Stop_failed flag like described at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-0703/6n343k6h3?a=view
    which basicly means:
    scswitch -c -h hspcsuncrm6 -j siebelsrvr1_m_nfs -f STOP_FAILED
    scswitch -c -h hspcsuncrm6 -j siebelsrvr1_m_stor -f STOP_FAILED
    scswitch -F -g siebelsrvr1_m
You then need to make sure that whatever lead to the stop failed problem is resolved, then you can start the RG again:
    scswitch -z -g siebelsrvr1_m -h hspcsuncrm6
Btw. if you are seeing the "ping-pong" effect, e.g. the RG failing over between the two nodes failing to start properly, you can try
    scswitch -Q -g <rgname that is failing>
if you are at least on SC 3.1U3 or newer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem switching on resource group

I am in the process of setting up a new two node cluster. I do have Sun Cluster 3.2 installed on a pair of recently patched Solaris 10 T1000 servers.
I ran the command "scswitch -z -h mw3 -g ensemble-rg" and the command just hung it has not completed or timed out. I tried to stop the command with "scswitch -k -Q -g ensemble-rg" on the mw3 server but that also has not completed.
I tried to run "clresourcegroup online +" and "clresourcegroup offline -v +" and got the same message:
clresourcegroup: (C667636) ensemble-rg: resource group is undergoing a reconfiguration, try again later
What do I need to do to get the resource group and hosts completed?
    Thank you,
    Tom.

    Hello Tim,
At this point there is nothing in the ensemble-rg. The logical host ens-perf has it's own ip address separate from the two nodes in the cluster and there is no other machine that answers on that IP address on the network.
What can I look at to show me what might be wrong with the cluster configuration?
Here is what is in /var/adm/messages for today:
    Nov 20 09:02:47 mw3 Cluster.CCR: [ID 499775 daemon.notice] resource group ensemble-rg added.

    Nov 20 09:03:28 mw3 Cluster.CCR: [ID 973933 daemon.notice] resource ens-perf added.
The scswitch command that hung was started at 09:04:51 according to ps.
I still have the scswitch and clresourcegroup commands that are still hung.
I was creating the resource group to install the application on the cluster nodes - so I don't have any application logs to check at this point because this is a brand new cluster that I am setting up to test.
Here is the output for clrg status:

  • Single or separate users owning multiple Oracle Resource Groups?

Being an infrastructure DBA, I have a question which I'm trying to sort out with my sys admin:
    - We're trying to setup multiple Oracle 11g (non-RAC) instances on a two-node Solaris 10 cluster.
    - each 'database' would have its own resource group, filesystem, binaries, and listener
    - In order to fully separate the two instances, the SA actually gave us two different oracle accounts to control each resource group.
    ie. a different oracle user (ie. oracle1, oracle2, oracle3) owns each resource group (/rg1, /rg2, /rg3)
    - to patch/startup/shutdown each instance, we have to login as a separate user
    - no user can run/touch the other's files (they're in completely different groups (dba/oinstall, dba2/oinstal2, dba3/oinstal3)
    - to run patch/installing, we use a separate inventorypointer flag which points to that particular db's oraInventory (ie. ./runInstaller -invPtrLoc /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc.<resource_group_name>)
I asked why couldn't one user own all resource groups, and was told:
...Oracle uses the shared memory, semaphores and queues to exchange information. Each IPC object has an identifier and access information, similar to files (owner, ,group, mode). If you use the single oracle account in different RGs, you or system might accidentally destroy the IPC object which belongs to other Resource Group.
Is this true? I could have sworn I've seen other solaris setups (albeit with Veritas Resource Groups) setups which have multiple resource groups owned/managed by a single oracle user, but I don't know enough about semaphores and shared memory to truly understand his argument.
The way I was hoping to work would be:
    - a single oracle user owning several resource groups
    - each resource group mapping to a filesystem tree, ie:
         /home
              /oracle
         /rg1
              /opt
                   /oracle
         /rg2
              /opt
                   /oracle
         /rg3
              /opt
                   /oracle- shared /var/opt/oracle/oratab
    - to switch between instances, the oracle user simply does the same '. oraenv' command as regular.
I understand it can be done, just that I need something to counter my SA's argument that there would be potential IPC/shared memory/semaphore collisions.

I've marked the question as answered, to a degree: I can agree that there are successful implementations out there with one person running multiple solaris zones, I just couldn't explain it to the SA in an articulate manner. I've gone to Oracle Metalink with a service request and will post references to the notes that the support person gave me on the subject. It's good for research in this area:
Note 15654.1 TECH: Calculating Oracle's SEMAPHORE Requirements
Note 70688.1 Location and Display of kernel parameters - Solaris
Note 33244.1 SOLARIS: Shared Memory and Semaphore Kernel Parameters on Solaris (SPARC) Servers
Note 153961.1 Semaphores and Shared Memory - An Overview
We've ruled out local zones at the time, for other implementation reasons. What I think we're looking at is the trade-off between Sysadmin's management complexity (separate zones) and DB Admin's management complexity (separate users).

  • Cluster Resource control and agent

    Hi,
I have written a custom agent to make our java based application highly available. It is a scalable resource group. So I was just wondering if there is a way to bring resource group offline on just one node. One command I know of is switch -z -g <groupname> -h <list of node where u want service to be up>. This works fine but in my case we will have multiple nodes running this resource group and if I get the nodelist from resource group and remove the node where I want to stop my application and give all the remaining in the list then it will even bring resource group online on the node where it was stop by administrator previously or as a work around I will have to remember all the nodes where it was brought down and script it create list where it should be up. So I was just wondering if this feature is available in sun cluster 3.1 or it should be an enhancement request to sun.
Secondly in my agent I have some extension properties defined, so I was just wondering if there is a way to define these properties in such a way that it can have different value on all the nodes of the cluster. I know sun cluster resource group has some such properties like RG_state where it has different values on all the nodes. So is there a way I can extend this to extension properties too.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vivek

You can change the nodelist of the resource group; scswitch -cg <rg> -h <nodes> where nodes are all nodes except the node(s) you want to offline the resource.

    Than's for your help
    Willy

    Hi Willy,
when the LDom is configured in a SUNW.ldom resource then it is in the control from the rgm (resource group manager) of Solaris Cluster software.
And yes, if you disable the SUNW.ldom or delete it with ‘delete -F’ then the LDom goes down which is expected behavior.
I don’t know what you like to reach, but maybe ‘quiesce’ or ‘suspend’ the resource group could help?
    quiesce:
This command stops a resource group from continuously switching from one node or zone to another node or zone if a START or STOP method fails.
Use the -k option to kill methods that are running on behalf of resources in the affected resource groups. If you do not specify the -k option, methods are allowed to continue running until they exit or exceed their configured timeout.
    suspend:
To prevent the resource group from coming online automatically, use the suspend subcommand to suspend the automatic recovery actions of the resource group. To resume automatic recovery actions, use the resume subcommand.
More details in the man page of clrg.

  • What is Consumer resource group ,ORacle services?

    Hi,
Could any one can explain what is Consumer resource group and Oracle Services.??
    Thanks,
    Nats

    Hi Mohamed,
    To answer your questions:
Q: What is parent resouce ID?
ANS: In your data, you may have some tasks that are associated with another task i.e. child tasks of a parent task. That association would need to be held in a column of your database table, for example PARENT_ID. The value held in the PARENT_ID column would be the ID of the parent task that the current task is associated with. For example, on this page - http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:86 - you can see that the 2nd task, "Update Application Wizard", is a child of the parent node "Charts Integration", and that association is based upon the value stored in the PARENT_ID column of my sample table.
Q: Is it also mandatory? Can I create a gantt chart without it?
ANS: No, it is not mandatory. However, the syntax of the query must include PARENT_ID, which you can of course set to NULL, as you can see in the following example:
    SELECT NULL LINK,
           RESOURCE_ID ID,
           TASK_NAME NAME,
           NULL PARENT_ID,
           START_DATE ACTUAL_START,
           END_DATE ACTUAL_END
FROM   TASKS Below is another sample query, where you can see the PARENT_ID is being set. In this case, we want to represent a hierarchical task list
    SELECT 'f?p=4000:2:'||:APP_SESSION||':::P2_ID:'||ID LINK
           RESOURCE_ID ID,
           RESOURCE_NAME NAME,
           PARENT_ID PARENT_ID,
           START_DATE ACTUAL_START,
           END_DATE ACTUAL_END
FROM   TASKSI hope this helps to clarify things.

  • Oracle resource group

    Hi,
I need some help, I'm going to setup oracle HA under sun cluster 3.1. We will put 1 oracle instance but will be having several database instances running. My question is do I need to create a seperate resource group for each database instance?
    Any help/advise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

If serveral oracle server instances depends on a disk storage resource in a resource group, can these oracle resources be seperated into different groups? In other words, is cross-group resource dependency allowed in Solaris?
One more question on oracle resource. Supposing there are a few oracle server resources and one disk storage resource in a resource group and the oracle resources depends on storage resource. if anyone of the oracle resources failover, wil it cause the whole resource group to failover? How about if the storage resource fails?

  • Create VNet in resource group using PowerShell

I need to create a VNet within a Resource Group.  The old portal lets me create a VNet but places it in a "Default-Networking" resource group which is not what we want (we have a naming convention to follow for programming etc).  The
new portal lets me create a Resource Group but not a VNet.  I am not a dev, I am a sysadmin so I do not use Visual Studio (which Resource Manager seems to be made for). I have tried using PowerShell (in ARM mode) by first making a Resource Group, and
then running a PowerShell command in an attempts to create a VNet and add it to the Resource Group:
New-AzureResource -ApiVersion 2014-06-01 -Location "Australia Southeast" -Name devausevnet -ResourceGroupName devausevnet -ResourceType Microsoft.ClassicNetwork/virtualNetworks
I got an error: "New-AzureResource : InvalidAuthorizationAppId: The appId <blah> is not allowed to make requests via API for 'PUT' operations..."
I tried doing this by making the resource group at the same time as calling the creation of a vnet via a template as well, but after prompting me for the values for the vnet, that got the exact same error.
I have found a page that suggests ARM is not yet able to create a VNet via PowerShell.
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/f40b24dc-8c82-411e-871a-be3710743ec1/unable-to-create-azure-virtual-machine-using-resource-group-template?forum=WAVirtualMachinesforWindows
OK, so how am I supposed to create a VNet in a Resource Group that has a name other than "Default-Networking" please?
While I love the direction Azure is heading, I am becoming very frustrated with the number of things like this that seem to be partially functional in the old portal, the new portal, PowerShell etc.  If
there is no cohesive means of doing this as yet, is someone able to provide a work-around?  Note that it is not yet even possible to rename a Resource Group otherwise I would have simply done that.
    Any help appreciated!  Cheers.   =)

    Hi,
Based on my experience, there is no resource type for virtual networks in Azure PowerShell. In addition, to define a virtual network, you need to configure the address space as the property. The article below may be helpful to you:
Azure Resource Manager– Creating a Resource Group and a VNET
Furthermore, you can create a virtual network in a new resource group or a new one in
    Azure Preview portal:
