Resource header is damaged cannot be repaired?

Just ran some diagnostics on my Mc Pro and after a file scan got a message that says: "libssl1 137.dylib" resource header is damaged and cannot be repaired"
So just what is "libssl1 137.dylib"? Do I need to reinstall my system to fix this?

Hi CapNemo;
It has been my experience that if DiskWarrior reports an error and says it can NOT repair it then the only recourse is to reformat the drive. Backup any data on the drive and reformat writing zeros to the sectors to ensure that any bad block are mapped out.

    Hi h,
First, it is possible that the HD has mechanical issues that SMART cannot detect, and which could in turn cause software/OS issues. If that's the case, it's time for a new HD, but first I would install a fresh OS (see below).
in the past I may have deleted files that have caused this instability. Could it?
Deleting any one of thousands of OS files can wreak all kinds of havoc, most of it unpredictable. Some have names that you would never consider to be part of the OS, like "unknown."
    Can it be fixed?
Odds are, if DW can't do, no. But I would still at least try Repair Disk while booted from your install disc. It's free and will take only a few minutes (though I wouldn't put much hope in it, no reason not to try).
If no success, in your situation, I would back up my data files, erase/zero the HD, and install a new squeaky clean OS. Then I would have confidence that things should be back to normal, but I'd still run Repair Disk regularly for a few weeks to make sure nothing becomes corrupted again.

  • Resource Data Found Damaged: Adobe Elements 10 Organizer.app

I ran DiskWarrior, which "scanned  the disk named “Macintosh HD” checking all files and folders for damage and potential compatibility problems.
1 file had resource data that was found to be damaged.
    File:  “AdobeSWFL.rsrc”
Detected that the resource header is damaged and cannot be repaired.
    Location:  “Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Elements 10 Organizer.app/Contents/ElementsAutoAnalyzer.app/Contents/Frameworks/AdobeOwl.framework/Ve rsions/A/Resources/AdobeSWFL.bundle/Contents/Resources/”
I deleted Adobe Elements 10, as well as Adobe Elements 10 Organizer, reinstalled Adobe Elements 10, and ran DiskWarrior again.  Again, the same file had resource data that was found to be damaged.
Should I be worried about the problem?  Has anyone else found the same damage?  What can be done about it, short of Adobe fixing the problem and issuing an upgrade?

First of all, I personally don't think it's wise to run pre-emptive strikes with repair utilities. Use them when you actually have a problem.
If you uninstalled PSE by deleting it, you have a problem. You MUST use the uninstaller in Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. PSE is not a nice tidy package like most mac apps, and there are bits and bobs all over your hard drive. Try running the uninstaller now, but it may well not work. If it doesn't, post back.
IMHO, running DW unecessarily is more likely to cause problems than to fix them. I'm always hearing from enthusiastic DW users about how it narrowly saved them from a major failure of this or that, while people who don't run these utiities don't have these crises at all. It's great when things really have gone wrong, don't get me wrong. It's the very best for fixing serious problems, but OS X just doesn't need all that maintenance and actually runs better without intervention, most of the time.

  • PDF error message "The file is damaged and cannot be repaired"

Across several versions (upgrades) of Mozilla and from
several sites I have a problem when viewing pages (ie.
from MoinMoin wikis but also other CMS systems) with
    embedded PDF documents.
I get an error dialog saying "The file is damaged and cannot be repaired" and a reference to a local cached copy of a
".tmp" file. If I right click on the link and "Save Link"
as a local file then the PDF views correctly (and it renders
correctly within the HTML page with other browsers such
    as IE).
The page below (bizarrely) works for me, but similar
documents fail on password protected sites.
    Any comments much appreciated. Thanks!

  • "file is damaged and cannot be repaired" CS3 to CS4

    hello,
I was emailed an illustrator CS3 file which I cannot open in CS4.  I can open in CS3 but when I try to open in CS4 I get error "this file is damaged and cannot be repaired"
when I open in CS3 I get a message about font inconsistency...but the file still opens.
    any suggestions?

    Lara,
yes it said something like "some fonts are not supported..etc...would you like to open the file anyway." (sry cant remember verbatim...I had a friend of mine try to open it on her comp which has cs3).
I believe CS3 should substitute the fonts in question, or at least give you the option to substitute them. Did you try saving it from CS3 (with or without font substitution) and then opening in CS4 as I suggested?
CS4 may be more particular than CS3 when it comes to fonts. Illy is more particular than most applications (some applications open files with corrupt fonts that she flatly refuses), and she may have become more particular over the years.

  • File is damaged or cannot be repaired

I have Adobe Reader on my Vista OS. When I try to open a PDF file, I get error msg:
"file is damaged or cannot be repaired."
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

If you use a PC, you can use software you already have on your computer to retrieve some of the content. Right-click on the corrupt file and choose ‘Open
With’ and select the Notepad program that comes bundled with every copy of Windows. The resulting file will contain a lot of coding but within that
coding you will see the content. This is perhaps a only really viable with text-only PDFs as when you are dealing with images and forms, Notepad will be swamped with coding and finding the text can be the proverbial needle in the haystack.

  • HELP! "This file is damaged and cannot be repaired."

I have been editing a large (25+ MB) PDF in Adobe Acrobat X Pro on a Macbook.
I just tried to open it to continue editing and got an error message:
"This file is damaged and cannot be repaired."
    What on earth happened?!?!
A few days ago I saved a compressed version that is 1/10th the size. I can use that if I absolutely have to (it means losing part of my work and not all of my work) but I'm nervous -- what is the difference between a compressed file and a standard file that would make the compressed file 10% of the size? Is it fully functional with edits?
Ideally, if someone could help me remedy my error problem on the main file, that would be preferable -- but I'll also take info on compressed files (I didn't zip it, I just saved it in "Finder" as a compressed file.)

  • PDF "FILE DAMAGED AND CANNOT BE REPAIRED".

I work at a software firm. We have a web app. Users are complaining that when they download a document in the Web app, they can't use that PDF, as the ERROR Message is "FILE DAMAGED AND CANNOT BE REPAIRED." Known issue. But, how do I fix it. It has to do with encoding and my suggestion is to call the ISP, but is that all that I can do? Is there anything in this forum I can point to?

there is something with the pdf itself that is stopping FF from opening it, as when i try opening the same in Crome ... there also i encounter the same problem (the file opens partially and then stops opening). But if i download the same then i can view the same in Acrobat reader properly.
May be the way the pdf was created used something which FF s not able to render (the graphics used in charts etc)
The work around that is available is that you download the file and save it somwhere, then open the same in Acrobat reader separately

  • Macintosh HD is damaged and cannot be repaired.

I recently downloaded and tried installing the new Mountain Lion OS X. After the download i followed all the steps and when i had restarted and started installing, it came with the warning: Macintosh HD is damaged and cannot be repaired, and that i should restart my coumputer. I have tried this several times, and nothing has helped. I have bootcamp on my computer and my windows side works perfectly fine. When i tried looking through my Mac sides files i found a file called OS X install data. I was wondering what would happen if i deleted this file. and how i can fix my problem?
    thanks.

Your Mac partition has become badly corrupt. First priority needs to be baking up your data, if you don't already have it backed up. It may already be too late, unfortunately.
If you already have a full system backup, your life is easy... just erase the Mac partition and restore from the backup. If it's a Time Machine backup, see How do I restore my entire system?.
If you didn't have backups already, once your data is backed up, you need to erase the hard drive and reinstall the system from scratch, then import data only from your backup. Reinstall any apps from scratch.
If you are unable to make a backup, you may be very badly screwed, but you can try repairing the drive with DiskWarrior. It may repair the problem, or it may fail to and destroy some of your data in the attempt. (Anything you do is a risk without backups.)

  • Hard drive damaged and cannot be repaired

I have had a few weird issues with my early 2011 macbook pro 13 inch, updated fully. All of this started after ML. Sometimes, when I power it up there will be a pause and then the signin screen will appear. If I sign in then, the apple logo and the spinning wheel beneath it will appear as usual, however, it will never login, it will just remain that way indefinitely. Also, sometimes when I shutdown, the grey wheel will appear for about 15 seconds and then the computer will shutdown. Therefore, I decided to do a reinstall of Mountain Lion. It took about 3.5 hours and finally it gave a warning message saying, "installation failed, the hard disk is damaged and cannot be repaired. Restart to try again." I restarted and the same thing accured at startup, same message.
When I restarted in disk utility, the Machintosh HD was not available. When I used disk utility application, the verification said, "disk is damaged, click repair disk", but that option is greyed out. I reset PRAM and nothing changed. My verification is still returning errors and 'damaged disk" but not way to click 'repair'.
Also, for most of the time I have had my laptop, moving slightly or lightly bumping the lower, righthand corner of the body makes a clicking noise, almost like sticking a stick into a moving fanblade, but not very loud. This does not occur now as much as it used to though.
Is there anything I can do short of replacing my HDD, although I would be interested in upgrading to an SSD at some point.
    Thanks!

It's very unlikely you'll be able to fix that without erasing the drive.
    Do you have backups?
When I restarted in disk utility, the Machintosh HD was not available. When I used disk utility application, the verification said, "disk is damaged, click repair disk", but that option is greyed out.
There's a very small chance you can start from the Recovery HD and repair the disk from there.  It's probably worth a try.  See the yellow box in #6 of Using Disk Utility.
If that doesn't help, see the pink box there.  If you want to try DiskWarrior, you'll need to borrow a working Mac to download it and put it on a DVD or disk partition.
Otherwise, your only choice is to erase and reformat it, then download a fresh version of OSX (although it sounds like it may be failing -- the clicking noise).  You do that from the Recovery HD, too; see the yellow box in #1 of Using Disk Utility.

  • Disk permissions that cannot be repaired

I have two disk permissions that cannot be repaired and wanted to know if there was anything I can do about them. The are: Warning: SUID file "System/library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool"has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning SUID file "usr/bin/lppasswd" had been modified and will not be repaired
I just uninstalled Skype and reinstalled it than ran repair disk permission when these showed up. I have run repair disk permissions several times afterward and they always show up now. Thanks for any help!

Installing OS X 5.5 combo upgrade will clear the problem. I had exactly the same warning downloaded the combo and install straight over the incremental 5.5 update and everything is now fine. Here is the link

  • SAP GUI 7.20 pro blem - the resource DLL for bitmaps cannot be loaded

    Hello guys,
I am fighting the problem all day long.
I've installed GUI for windows 7.20 , and it cannot be lauched because of the error message :
SAP GUI 7.20 pro blem - the resource DLL for bitmaps cannot be loaded
Maybe you know what exact dll is missing or how to repair the problem manually ?
    Thanks guys .
    Regards,
    Laimonas

    Thanks David,
I don't see any errors in the file - these can be found by searching for '1E ' (note the space after
    the E or '2E ' .
At the end of the logfile it shows:
C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp.Sap\SAPGUI_INST_720\Sap1F6\system\sapbtmp.dll' successfully copied to 'C:\Windows\system32\SAPbtmp.dll', so it does copy the file to the destination directory sucessfully.
I would suggest reinstalling the SAPGUI again but this time without any /package switches
    In the logfile it shows:
    NwSapSetupEngine.dll:     8.6.1.74
We recommend that you update your installation server with the latest sapsetup patch as per
    note below:
    http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1587566
You will also require .NET4 runtime to use the latest installer files.
run nwsapsetup again from the server and it should install again.
Any more errors, update the nwsapsetup.log file again.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 CANNOT be repaired?

    Hi,
I purchased a Nokia Lumia 920 not very long ago, and even though it hung on me within the first hour of me having the phone.. I was pretty happy with it. Sadly, I happened to spill some water on it and promptly took it to a Nokia Care Center here in India (at Irla). They told me they will have to send it to the Nokia 'Main Center' at New Delhi. I reconfirmed this with another Nokia Care Center (at Ghatkopar) - and allowed them to ship my phone to New Delhi. Now they have returned the phone saying that it CANNOT be repaired. I am at a complete loss of words... WORSE things happened to my Blackberry & my previous Nokia phone (my earlier Nokia was completely submerged in water and it still worked!!!) and they were repaired within virtually no time.
Please someone help me understand -
    1. Is Nokia Lumia 920, THAT fragile and I made a complete fool of myself buying the phone?
    2. Is there anyone else, anywhere in the world, who can help me repair my phone?
    Thanks,
    Anita Shyam.

Yes, that can happen, and I can see that a repairer wouldn't want to give any warranty on such a repair, but it's not pointless for the owner if the only other option is to discard the phone and buy another.  Many drenched phones go on to work for years after careful, thorough drying out.
One of my kids' phones recovered after a trip through our washing machine.  In that case admittedly I had to open it up and wash it with clean water and a soft brush to get rid of soap residue and corrosion, but after a week or two in the airing cupboard it was as good as new.
