Resource Management in SAP BW or SAP R#

Hi Guys! Can someone put light on the resource management in SAP BW. Where I can get information from. Or this topic is just in SAP R3.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Vicky

Hi,
If you are not using fulfledged HCM module (PA & OM), then you can implement Mini HR to pull the resource to place on project objects through WC.
Yes, it is possible to have an interface between Sucessfactors and SAP system.
Please read this thread  how to create success factors csv directory path in sap ?. You can search in the Netwear Administration forum to get more details on connecting SF and SAP.

  • Oracle Resource Manager function with SAP BI7

    Hi,
Have anyone considered or using Oracle Database Resource Manager (Oracle 10.2) feature for SAP BI application in your site? I dont see a single OSS hit on this feature.
We have a SAP BI system that has few power users (who can run large STAR_TRANSFORMATION queries that analyzes large volume of data) and the main user community (our sales force > 3000+ users) who can run smaller queries of such nature or queries of different types.
We want to see if there is any way we can control the resource utilization on the database server.
    Thanks in advance,
    Raj

    > Of course, this would require an additional specifications such as SERVICE in the TNS and Listener files.
Yes - but I'm not sure if that would give the necessary effect. Once the statement reaches the database kernel engine, it gets processed, no matter if you limit the TNS/listener usage because TNS is no more involved when the statement reaches the OLAP engine.
    > In the BI environment, I'm thinking you need this db feature to control database resources when loads and reports overlaps or even several small and large queries run concurrently despite however many app server a system has, all these come to the database.
I think SAPs answer is: Buy a bigger box (or use RAC to distribute the load)
    > The big question is whether SAP would support such a setup.
The feature is not listed explicitly in note 105047 - Support for Oracle functions in the SAP environment. I'd make a call at BC-DB-ORA and ask what they think about that.
I understand your problem very well but I doubt, that there's an easy way of accomplishing this with standard tools.

Yes, Marketing resource management (MRM) is about managing all the resources required in marketing - money/budgets, time and resources (people, assets, etc.) and improving efficiency.
Defined by analysts as "a set of processes and capabilities that aim to enhance a company's ability to coordinate and optimize the use of internal and external marketing resources. MRM applications facilitate planning and budgeting, they coordinate execution and measure the impact of marketing efforts."
So, it goes beyond scenario planning and also includes budgeting, digital asset management, workflows, etc.

  • SAP Strategy Management (SSM) 7.0 to SAP BI communication

    Hi
We are trying to create a connection from SAP Strategy Management 7.0 (SSM) to SAP BI 7.0. What kind of SAP user type should be used for the communication (dialog, system, u2026)?
    Kind regards
    Erik

    Anuj,
In order to use SAP OLEDB connection type for the LinkID, there are a few dll files that you need to make sure to have on the latest version. I'm not sure right now which ones they are, but anyway that is one of the reasons SAP now only supports BAPI as the connection mode to BW. It is not dependent on any dlls and so it is less likely you run into errors because of anything that is unrelated to the product.
I would therefore advise you to establish the connection to BW using BAPI. Perhaps the following note can help you:

  • Solution Manager 7.1 Integration into SAP Landscape

    Hi All
    I have a few questions for all the SAP Solution Manager experts out there and for anyone that would like to take a stab at these questions. An organization would like to implement a 3 system landscape for the following SAP Applications; SAP ERP, SAP CRM, SAP SRM, SAP Portal, SAP XI, SAP BI (SAP BW and SAP BOBJ) as well as SAP Solution Manager. They want to use all the functionality that is available in Solution Manager. The questions that I pose is as follows;
         1. How many Solution Manager systems must one implement? A 3 system landscape or will a 2 system landscape suffice? Bearing in mind that    functionality such as CHARM will be implemented.
         2. Where will the productive SLD reside? How would this SLD connect to the Solution Manager Systems?
         3. To which Solution Manager System will all the diagnostic agents connect to?
Your expert input would gladly be appreciated and points awarded accordingly.
    Regards
    Deen

    Hi Deena,
I good approach would be to use a two system landscape.
Where - all sandbox and development systems are connected to develpoment solman.
and - all other systems, like quality, pre-prod, and prod are connected to production solman.
For CHARM, this is sufficient. Keep the hardware specs on the higher side of production solman.
You should use a separate SLD instance on your solution manager. WHY, incase you need to update the SP level, as SLD needs to be on the highest level, outage from SOLMAN or PI would be avoided.
You can also use, SLD of Solution manager, SYNC you dev sld with prod sld - uni directional sync - eg for stack generation.
SLD connect to your solution manager during solman_setup basic configuration and preparation of your landscape through LMDB.
    Check.

Connect diagnostic agents to your producitve solution manager.

  • How to manage Customer Specific Labelling in SAP?

Hi there - hope you can help.
I am looking for some advice on managing Customer specific labelling in SAP.
    Details:
Each product we sell gets labelled.
The labels are material and customer specific.
We currently manage labels (1/ Label Codes and 2/ Label Stock) in an excel spreadsheet - but I am hoping to incorporate it into SAP.
Looking at the CMIR, I can list the label code in the Customer Description field or in the Search Term field (customer material is already used) - but this doesn't feel correct and would only solve part of the issue.
Other companies may have a similar requirement - so my question is, how can I manage the customer / material specific labelling in SAP (both codes
    and stock)?
    Many thanks
    Mada

If EHS is integrated at your clients' place, then I think, you can achieve this requirement as per the below documentation

  • Management of car rental on SAP

    Hi
Do you have an idea on the management of car rental on SAP
    Management of reactive maintenance
Getion fuel consumption (supply from the internal tanks)
Is it okay to create it as the equipment on the SAP and if so, what are the criteria on which we will use to differentiate them from our domestic fleet.
    Thainks in advance

    HI
Create the equipment rental on SAP?
You can create the equipment or vehicles from IE31 and maintained data as per business requirement. In one of my project we also send vehicles for rental with some fixed hourly priced .we created some custom report to manage the total trips of vehicle send to rental and charge them at the end of month after all usage.
Manage equiemnts types (car, truck, ...)?
You can create object type in SAP for your car, trucks etc.
    Cerer curative maintenance?
You can do the maintenance of all vehicles as normal maintenance order in SAP IW31
    Manage the consumption of diesel?
If you have your own diesel filling station then you can manage the consumption through  IFCU tr. or you can use measurement documents (measuring Points ) to know the total consumption.,

  • Solution manager 7.0 and Non-SAP Sys. for managing whole IT infrastructure

    Hello Gurus,
ive tried to search the allmighty google and SDN network for an answer how can we use the SolMan 7.0 for external applications (non-SAP).
What is our concern is that basically the Sol Man is described for using with whole SAP product environment. project management, chagne management, support, updating and etc.
    My idea is:
Can we use SolMan for describing our whole IT projects and processes?
What i mean is if for example we have a payroll system which is running in non-SAP environment, can we describe the project for it? track the changes to it? document everything and etc. Its like to use the SolMan for whole IT infrastructure no matter if the application is SAP or non-SAP environment.
    Best regards

    Hello there,
SAP Solution Manager contains some functionality to work with non SAP products. For example, in transaction SMSY (system landscape) you can define non SAP products and therefore non SAP systems, although the functionatlity that you get thus is somewhat limited (no automatic refresh, no logon from RFC destination, etc).
The same applies for the project (SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) part of Solution Manager. It is possible to assign a logical component for a non SAP product to a project, then in the project it is possible to describe the process and document it but it will not be possible to use the more SAP oriented functionality like links to IMG projects, etc.

  • How to Transfer Customizing Data from SAP ECC6 to SAP Solution Manager

    Hi all,
I want to Transfer Customizing Data (such as organization structure) from SAP ECC6 to SAP Solution Manager. Please tell me how. Thanks.

    Hi,
The system cannot capture the customizing data from your ECC6. This is another myth with SAP Solution Manager. Solution Manager can only smoothen the process of your Project Management.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Feel free to revert back.

  • Career Management and Grading Systems in SAP

I'd like to learn about Career Management and Grading Systems in SAP. My company is currently in the process of implementing a dual career path (specialist vs. structural) for our IT organization, as one of the initiatives to improve engagement level of technical employees.
    Best Regards,
    Iwan Prajogi

    Hi Iwan,
Thanks for your reward.Well actually SAP itself  implemented mySAP E-recruiting 6.0 and the succesion planning module does the task.
I am afraid I can't give exact information as to the technical positions, but what I see is it is a so called TALENT GROUP in e-recruiting.
    <b>Succession Planning Program
SAP also has a special interest in employees who have the potential to move into key positions within targeted timeframes. An annual program identifies successors for management and executive positions. Like the high potential process, the career-development needs of our leaders are carefully planned and tracked.</b>
The above given is an excerpt from SAP career publications.

  • Project Management and Resource Management Reporting Views

I am wondering if anyone would have and is willing to share some documentation they may have put together around reporting views related to Project Management and Resource Management modules. We are installing the projects suite and I have never done custom reporting out of these modules and would be interested in feedback or documentation anyone may have related to these or any offer of assistance or direction in designing the reporting views.
    Thank you in advance!
    Matt

    hello Tony,
What I can say. Maybe you should use SAP PPM as a operational Project Management tool and integrate it with WBS elements and projects in SAP PS. Probably it will be the best solution for you.
The second way is to use a second project structure for project management as you wrote, with different number of this project. So you will have 2 structures one for actual posting of costs and the second for rest management needs and statistical posting of costs. Probably you will need CO substitution for posting of costs to post costs on these 2 structures.
There will be many other conditions to get right solution but I think this 2 ways are possible.
