Resource on how to use C++ CX in a normal WPF Desktop App (on Windows 7?)

In my desktop app I am using both C# and Managed C++
I wonder if, going forward, I would be able to use C++ CX (instead of Managed C++) as it seems faster to run and easier to use.
Note that I'm not going to port my App to metro and I plan on continue writing desktop app.
Also, would I be able to deploy my app (using C++ CX) on Windows 7?

As far as I know, a part of Windows API reference for Metro style apps can be used in native codes, like ProximityDevice class . In the document, it said

It means that it can be used in native codes, but the not used C++/CX in native codes.

TM does not work like that.
If you want files to use later.. do not use TM.
Or do not use TM to the same location. Plug a USB drive into the computer and use that as the target for the permanent backup.

Using the Air Browser inside an Air Desktop App - how to activate webgl?

I´m using Adobe Air/Flex to build a Desktop App. Inside the App the user should be able to access an Internet Browser. This part is actually working so far.
BUT: THE ADOBE AIR BROWSER IS NOT SUPPORTING WEBGL.
Is there any method to activate the WebGL Support so I could open WebGL-Dependent URLs from Inside my Desktop App?
Sure, I could tell the User he should Alt+Tab to switch to an WebGL-Compatible Browser, but it would so much better if this all would work from inside my Application.

Hi Krazy,
With the monitor and Bluetooth peripherals connected, when you close the lid the machine will begin the sleep process. The Bluetooth (if set to wake the machine, which it should) when you activate one of the Bluetooth will then wake the machine and you're free to use it normally.
To answer your last question, you can turn off the machine and leave the setup as is without any problems.

Everything works fine if I use a windows printer like \\machine\printer.
I want to use a Linux printer and specified the print queue as
\\machine\print_queue_name. It's not working
and I get error ORA-302000 on the following line

and if I give only the queue name no error but it's not printing.
Could you please tell me how to use a Linux/Unix print queue in this situation

the simplest way is to edit the interface file (look in /etc/lp/interfaces for existing printers). Each script is
run per print job where stdin has your print data, and stdout is going to your print device. You can just
send the output to a file instead (assuming you can create a file in the windows directory from the solaris
box). If it's a network share, you could use smbclient.

Can anyone tell me how to use a fast formula in discoverer-desktop [for reporting]. Currently, we have a disco-report that calcuates the 'monthly salary', but we don't want to use that. Instead, we have a custom fast-formula [xx_oab_monthly_salary] which has the conditions and calculations that we need.
I want to use that formula in discoverer-desktop directly and get the monthly-salary.. i.e., someone needs to create a folder under the business area and add it i believe.. the formula internally calls a function.
when i checked about this with my dba - he said, he can add the 'function', but not the formula. and i need to write the calculation part...
does anyone know how to add it...there shud a way right...
i do not have access to the technical-stuff here..
someone said ["you can wrap the FF_EXEC.run_formula call into your own pl/sql function and map this function into the EUL so that the formula can be called from a workbook.", but this talks about pl/sql-do we need pl/sql

also, someone else said [ some fast formulas need specific contexts to be set. Depending on whether the fast formula below the only fast formula that you want to recreate in Discoverer.
For a single formula, in general my recommendation is to recreate the fast formula instead of using the ff_exec call].

That's right you need to develop the pl/sql function outside of Discoverer using a pl/sql tool or just SQL*plus. I haven't an example to hand, but can dig one up if you need it. Once you have the function developed you can map it into the EUL using Discoverer Administrator. It will then be available to Discoverer Desktop/Plus as a database function when creating calculations. So you can then just add the calculation to an existing or new report.
Alternatively, you can build the pl/sql function into a view and load the view into a new folder using Discoverer Admin.

You canr use text modules in script. You have to use standard texts .
Standard text are maintained in SO10 transaction.
you can create translation text for other languages also . So based on logon language it will print translation text.
go to SO10
give textname it say Ztextname id as ST and language as EN
say create, then you will get editor there maintain your text and save it . then come back . Now change language (say for german DE) say create and eneter translation text and save it.
so now you have created a text called ztextname which you can use in your script.
Inorder to insert the texts in your script do as below
go to any window editor and select path
Insert->texts->symbols->standard symbols
then you will get popup in which you have to mention all the parameters that you have created earlier.
after inserting just change language EN to sy-langu

I am developing an APP tool for dynamically modifying the contents on the Wiki Page on SharePoint for some format purpose. I hope to use the Ribbon functionalists provided by Wiki Page Editor like configuring the font on that APP. I have an editable div
on the page and hope to use the Ribbon Buttons as used in the Wiki Page to control the contents of this div. Is it possible or I just have to develop those functionalists by myself instead of loading the Ribbon to my APP.
And other problems I have got the solutions like accessing to my APP with parameter or using the REST to control the contents on Wiki Page.

He then showed how to close the basic module by clicking on the small triangle at the top of the module. When this was done a single control bar and slider appeared in place of the closed basic module. Moving this slider allowed the instructor to adjust all previously set basic module settings at the one time. I tried to do this. But when I close the basic module no control bar and slider appear. Any suggestions why this is the case?

How to use iweb rss feed in an iphone web app?

So this is my dilemma. I wanted my iweb turned into a web app using the rss feed.
This is simply done cause of the "Add To Homescreen" feature.
While the RSS feed works beautifully on safari... it does not read as a webapp.
This surprised me cause I thought it would still be safari that would be loading my web app.
I tried everything to get my RSS feed to work in a web app but i failed miserably.
Is there a fix for this?

Adding to the homescreen doesn't make it a webapp.
It creates a shortcut to the webpage, just as dragging a url to the desktop creates a .webloc file.
You want an iWeb "webapp"?
Add this page to the homescreen and then click that icon :

How to use a website's favicon as the desktop shortcut icon on FF/windows?

I've seen related questions on this forum but none answer my question. I am a developer and the website I am working on is for kids and students. Previously, we gave instructions to parents and teachers that they could drag the favicon to the desktop to get a shortcut to the right page - and the shortcut icon was our favicon image (our logo). This made it easy for kids to find the right icon on their own.
We now find that the dragged shortcut icon is the icon of the default browsers on that machine. I've seen suggestions for how I can change this on my own computer but I have not seen any way for me to fix this for my users - I am dealing with users that are busy and not technically-knowledgeable. I can't ask them to change their about:config settings or download the logo separately and right click to set the icon of the shortcut to the logo. These are not solutions for me.
IE does this action automatically and Firefox used to do it automatically. Please help!

Sorry, that doesn't solve my problem. Please read the question more closely - I want my USERS to be able to do this without changing their configurations. My users are public school elementary teachers and parents. I can't ask them to toggle any settings - I'm looking for a way that my users can do this on their own.

I am a beginner in Java networking and have a question about URL programming.
How do I pass parameters to a java class/application over the web and then cause it to execute ? I then want to get the result back from the clas/app. The class/app resides on a remote machine and the protocol used is "http" protocol. OR all this is not possible through the URL and related classes ?

How do I pass parameters to a java class/application over the web and then cause it to execute ? Using the HTTP protocl you can either perform a GET where the parameters are in the URL or a POST where the data is sent to the server with the request.
The server must be setup as a web server to execute code based ojn a HTTP request. Using a web server with a JSP which contains the code to execute is the simplest way to do this.
I then want to get the result back from the clas/app. The output of the JSP becomes in the data returned by the HTTP request.
I would suggest looking for example on google.

Another option is to use RMI. The integration is tighter but it does not use the HTTP protocol.
