Resource trouble
Hi,
I am pretty new to Solaris 9 (december 2003 edition) x86 and want to install it on a VIA EPIA-M mini-itx motherboard with everything on-board. Boot from cdrom succeeded, but when it displays
Bus Enumeration
Determining bus types and gathering hardware configuration data...
warning: resource conflict both devices are added
Non-ACPI device: PNP0C01
Memory: CFE00-CFFFF
Memory: 9FC00-9FFFF
ACPI device: PNP0C01
I am thinking of a resource conflict with my pci bus and something else or an unknown not detectable pci bus. Installed windows on it then tried to change the address. Which was pretty foolish, it didn't work. If ignore the conflict then it boot from cd and hangs after the message
<<< Booting an interactive installation >>>
SunOS 5.9 Version Generic ....

and then it freezes for hours. How do i know if it is a resource conflict or an unknown not supported pci bus? Which one is it?
For details http://www.viavpsd.com/product/epia_m_spec.jsp?motherboardId=81
should be enough
Here is an alternative that should work (if the above did not)...
The ACPI possibly stands for Advanced Configuration and Power Management -- you should probably disable it in BIOS (press Del as the computer boots).
For the "486" issue, it seems that Solaris 9 does not recognize your VIA 6x86 CPU. Some web research indicates that VIA bought Centaur (from IDT) and Cyrix (from National Semiconductors) in 1999 and developed their CPU from that of those companies. Solaris 8's Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) listed Cyrix chips up to 07/01 and one may think that legacy support is included in Solaris 9 as well.
The following URL indicates how one may make the Solaris 9 CD isos recognize the new vendor strings used by VIA. The string used to be CyrixInstead for VIA Cyrix III CPUs (Intel uses GenuineIntel and AMD uses AuthenticAMD -- all of which have 12 characters) and the "newer" VIA CPUs (EDEN, C3, etc...) use CentaurHauls as vendor string:
http://forum.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=11&thread=15512
The URL also discusses how one might make the isos recognize the type of CPU that your board uses once the vendor string is accepted. This may involve replacing an existing "pentium" (as in the URL) or "VIA Cytrix III" string with something that represents your CPU model, for example "VIA Samuel 2" (you have to consult the datasheet or reference manual for your processor -- it may have a Samuel, Samuel 2, Ezra or some other core).
The system should boot nicely after such modifications but the on-board Network Interface Card (NIC) will probably not work (I could not find it even in older HCL). The VIA southbridge that controls ethernet communication requires "Rhine" or "VIA Rhine" drivers and you may have to install such drivers after solaris has booted. Masa Murayama has developed such Rhine drivers and you can find a link to them in the middle of the HCL section on the page:
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/collections/hardware.html
Murayama also explains very clearly how to install these drivers.

Project server 2010. Troubles with resource availability
A problem occurred while checking resource usage using PWA.
Using the PS 2010
the total number of projects about 2000, about 1600 resources (for 5 years)
We have a project - project1 and resource involved in it - res1
In the project, each week for the resource specified work (20 - 30 hours), the project is saved and published. (When publishing a project there are no errors.)
In MS Project and PWA in Project center values per weeks are the same. Go to the resource center, choose res1 and check its work in resource availability and see that for some weeks value of work is 0, at some 1.75. some 0.462 etc.
For other projects work of this resource displayed normally. Moreover, for all other resources is displayed correctly in this project.
When re-saving project data and republishing it the situation is same.
This issue takes place to be for some other projects.
questions:
1 - what database of PS take the data for plotting in resource availability?
2 - than similar behavior can be caused?
3 - how possible to solve this problem?
Thanks for help!Hi,
The resource availability in PWA-resource center is based on the Published DB data.
In order to trouble shoot, can you check in the data grid under the resource availability graph the capacity of the resource? Indeed the availability is calculated based on work versus capacity. The capacity might vary with calendar exceptions (holidays)
and non-working administrative time in the resource timesheet. I'd suggest that you check in detail the periods where you have this unexpected behavior and see the resource calendar and timesheets.
Also what you can do is to open a blank project plan (be sure to check the option "load summary resources assignments when starting MS Project Pro), insert the resource, go to the resource usage and add the remaining availability and work availability.
Then you could confirm if the data are correct or not.
Hope this helps,

I just paid the $9,99 a month to have access to Photoshop and lightroom. I am having trouble installing the programs and when I installed on Photoshop it said "trial"- this isn't suppose to be a trial but a resource I pay for monthly for a year right?
What turns the trial into the live software is signing in. If you sign in with the Adobe ID that has the subscription, the trial becomes live. First check your account on Adobe.com to make sure that the subscription is live.

Satellite PRO P200 (PSPB7E): LAN trouble Resource Conflict - PCI Network
Hey,
I have a Satellite PRO P200 and I have some trouble with the lan. (not the wireless one).
When I plug in the network cable, the system want start at all. The blue power let turns on and that's all tha happens.
If i turn the portable off, unplug the cable and turn it on, it starts, but the network adapter is no longer installed.
I already downloaded the Realtek driver for Vista 32 bits from the website, but no difference.
The driver is actually not recognized as being a right driver for the device. I have select the driver manually from a list (using have disk etc..) to get it installed. After the re-installation all the settings of the network adapter in Vista or gone, it always on dhcp.
I already had a blue screen (vista dump), while installing the device.
And an error:
Resource Conflict - PCI Netword Controller in slot 08
Bus:04, Device:00, Function:00
Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to setup.
I also tried to turn of the lan as third boot device, but it automaticaly turns on again.
I also tried to update the bios to the latets version, it succeeded (no problem at all), but it did not solve my problem.
Any idees?
hardware failure?
I guess it's not possible the switch the lan device?Hello
I have read many stories here but your one is really unbelievable. I do not know what is wrong there but try to enter BIOS settings and set it to default. After doing this install OS using recovery media.
Now you you will have clean preinstalled OS and your notebook will have factory settings. Please test the LAN card functionality again. If the problem persists you need professional help. -
I am trying to download the latest version of iTunes, iTunes 10.5. When I go to install an error pops up reading "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." It says that it can't find iTunes64.msi. Does anyone have a solution?
This is an issue that Apple deals with quite often. You have to download and reassign the MSI files to the affected components.

Trouble with multipath device names in an OVM resource pool...
Hello everyone...
I'm trying to add a server to an older pool (2.2.1) and I'm getting a little confused about this multipathing business....
The master has 3 storage repos...like this...
[ ] 96b72edc-147f-45e3-8e8a-672344e5a474 => /dev/mapper/mpath4p1
[ ] 1af0a0f2-463d-4e67-b854-47d68f95eb15 => /dev/mapper/mpath6p1
[ * ] f481b38b-f582-4693-9768-1eb8f47f0e6c => /dev/mapper/mpath3p1
If I do a multipath -ll they show up like this:
mpath6 (360060e8006fee3000000fee300000052) dm-3
mpath4 (360060e800543f000000043f0000001ae) dm-2
mpath3 (360060e800543f000000043f0000001bb) dm-1
On my new server...I tried to set the bindings so they'd be the same, and it shows up like this:
mpath6 (360060e8006fee3000000fee300000052) dm-3
mpath4 (360060e800543f000000043f0000001ae) dm-1
mpath3 (360060e800543f000000043f0000001bb) dm-2
The dm-x is different between the two servers...
Does this have to be the same for it to work properly or can I add the storage to my new server and add it to the pool?
I want to make sure because I really don't want to cause any kind of storage issues.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
ArminSame counts for the applet.class resource on the Html page.At this point you have to deal with browser differences and the fact there is no <applet> tag in strict xhtml. There's a good series of increasingly complex examples on this page: [http://ww2.cs.fsu.edu/~steele/XHTML/appletObject.html]

Trouble saving system files using resource hacker.
I have a Windows 7 pc. I recently installed a new program called resource hacker which allows you to modify system files. I also on my computer have a Windows XP VHD which I also installed the program. I first tried editing the explorer.exe file on windows
7. The few first times I was able to use system restore to restore my computer back to an earlier date. I edited the explorer.exe file on Windows XP also. On Windows 7 once it was edited, I followed the instructions on how to save it. When I saved it I has
to restart my computer. Once I did that, the desktop color came on and the icons and start menu and taskbar were gone as if there were no explorer.exe file at all. This time when I did it I went to system restore in the system recovery options before
I got to the log on screen. It said that there were no restore points available. I also tried putting the original files in the windows folder through task manager, but that didn't work either. when I restarted I got the same screen as I did before. I managed
to save it on Windows XP. In Windows XP I just had to go and end the explorer.exe file in task manager. I did that and I got the desired result that I edited it for. On Windows 7 I followed the instructions of how to save it, but it just won't work. I followed
the instructions just as they said but I get the same result every time. On the website that it tells you how to save it, but what I don't understand is that how they did it so easily on Windows 7, but when you try to save it on your own computer you
run into that same problem that I am running into. What I don't get is that how it works on Windows XP, but I can't get it to work on Windows 7. I hope that help clarify the issue that I am having with my computer and the program.Yes, I suspect there're some corrupted or missing system files, please press win+R, launch "Run" dialog box, type "cmd" or command prompt in recovery console tool (you should login in as a admin), then type the following command
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
check if it can help you fix the incorrect files.
Regarding to the the missing restore point, please take a look in this link:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/win7/archive/2011/02/16/restore-points-lost-after-system-rebooting.aspx
Please also check the event viewer, run "eventewr" in command prompt, it will launch the event viewer interface

Trouble deploying Resource Adapter
Hello,
I suspect what I really have is a DOS problem, but since it relates to the RA I've written, I figured I'd post it here. I got tired have having to manually redeploy my Resource Adapter and add a new Connection Factory instance everytime I rebuilt my resource adapter code so I stuck the following four command in a file named InstallCtr.bat:
deploytool -undeployConnector myra.rar localhost
j2eeadmin -removeConnectorFactory eis/myEIS
deploytool -deployConnector myra.rar localhost
j2eeadmin -addConnectorFactory eis/myEIS myra.rar
When I run the batch file the first command (undeployConnector) completes successfully, but then the batch file terminates. I can't figure out why the other three commands aren't executed. Is there anyway I can fix this situation? Thanks in advance.
-exits
ps - the commands of course run perfectly if I execute them one by one from a dos command linewrite "call" before every command.

Trouble resolving resource bundle message with validator.
Hi,
I'm using an af:validateDateTimeRange component (with only a minimum date), and want to change the validation message that is displayed to a custom message.
I have this message in the resource bundle, but the component does not seems to pick it up, and just uses the default message instead. The only ways I've got it to display the correct message are :
- Hardcoding the message into the minimumMessageDetail attribute (currently done this way).
- binding the minimumMessageDetail attribute to a managed bean's property.
Is there any reason why it's not picking up the message from the resource bundle? (Yes, the resource bundle is set up correctly - it's used everywhere throughout the application.)Ok my diagnosis of this is that references to keys in a property bundles from the attributes
maximumMessageDetail
minimumMessageDetail
notInRangeMessageDetail
Do not work. Hardcoded values work in notInRangeMessageDetail, but not the other two - does that agree with what you see? -
Trouble connecting to a shared resource upon login
I updated my server/client system this summer and I haven't worked out all the bugs yet.
My wgm server is running Snow Leopard. All student accounts and documents are on the Snow Leopard server. I have another server running Leopard. Some shared resources (program data storage, etc.) are on the Leopard server.
I want a 1st grader to log in (10.4 client) and have it automatically connect to the share point on the Leopard server. I have not duplicated the student accounts on the Leopard server because I don't want to maintain two user databases. If there was a way to get the Leopard server to draw the user database from the Snow Leopard server, I think that would solve my problem.
As it is, because the Leopard server doesn't have an account for that student, the share point isn't connected to upon login. No share point mounted, program won't run.
I'd be happy if there was a way to make the share point mount automatically with a generic login like "mrshare" and a password.
So what do I do? Do I have to shift all my shared resources to the Snow Leopard server and burden it more?
Thanks for your help.Assuming that your username is "acurotto", have you tried connecting to smb://tako/acurotto?

Trouble saving files in resource hacker...again
On my windows 7 pc, I edited the main.cpl file. I put the edited file in ot the system 32 folder, and when I checked back, it's like windows restored the original file and like I didn't edit it at all. But, when I drag it back to my desktop it shows
that I did edit the file. I can't seem to save the file without windows replacing the edited file. The is no support for hacking in these forums.
You will have to contact the publisher of the hacking program if you want assistance.

848P Neo trouble with 6600GT and resource conflicts
Hey everyone, built this computer not too long ago out of parts furnished to me. I originally had a GeForce 4 MX 4000. So I just purchased a XFX GeForce 6600 GT for obvious reasons. lol (Thinks to self, maybe I should have went ATI)
Since then I've been in for a world of hurting. During Post or any like screen I can't read anything. just a bunch of jumbled characters. The USB went whacky, off and on power wise. And I'm stuck with the default VGA drivers in Windows. Error 10 - Device could not start is listed for the card in Device Manager. Although I am still using this card for video, since there is no on-board video on this board.
Farther research into my situation revealed the card, my USB Host Controllers AND one of my Nics are all on IRQ 16. That's lovely. I can't find out how to force these devices, particularly my video card, to a different IRQ. I would like it to be on empty IRQ 11 if I could (Can't find much in the BIOS that is talked about on this board). But now I am wondering, this wouldn't explain my problems before XP even loads would it? Though my USB mouse seemed like it was flickering here and there during/after post. Maybe the two interfering trying to interupt the CPU at the same time could explain the garbled graphics. Right now I'm using PS2 mouse and keyboard. no USB devices hooked up and same problems.
Sorry for the long post. Heres the IRQ Table and also some memoryaddressing conflicts that I dont know how to correct.

Problems rebooting: "couldn't lock for reboot: Resource busy"
Hi there,
I'm having trouble rebooting my Xserve G4. The server has been up for 128 days, and a previous admin had installed some software updates, and I recently applied several new ones including 'Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5', QuickTime 7.6.6 and Safari 4.0.5.
It appears it's been trying to reboot ever since the first set of updates, but is not able to. What is strange is that even after having applied the updates mentioned, Server Admin still lists these same software updates as new, uninstalled updates, and asks me to install them.
Also, the CPU usage is running at around 60%, and diskarbitrationd and kextcache seem to be the main CPU hogs.
I have tried asking the machine to reboot through Server Monitor, and it fails, stating:

I'd be grateful for any help or advice in clari
Message was edited by: gregariousfruitI got sick of the error so hard-rebooted the server manually. Seems to be fine now, and software updates work as normal.

I originally posted this question to the community section and was advised to post it here. Please bear with me as this will be a long post. I'm including the scenarios involving this reoccurring issue, the trouble shooting steps I've already
taken and the results of several diagnostic tools and logs.
I have a Sony VAIOS VPCEBB33FM lap top since 2011. I have had this issue on an off for a long time. I'm at my wit's end. Any new insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Scenario Details
1) Some times it's on and off through out the day, sometimes it won't work all day, and once in a while it will work fine for the entire day.
2) I've had this issue across several wireless services, Clear Network accessed with WiMax, Library Wi-fi, Comcast cable internet using wireless router and Wi-fi, and Comcast Xfinity Wi-Fi, to name a few examples.
3) Other devices in the household or library will work with no problems such as my smart phone or my roommates' laptops or desktop computers.
4) Once in a while, the built-in wireless adapter is not found and I have to reinstall the driver. Also the diagnostic tool has had to reset my adapter on an increasing basis.
5) I had my hard drive replaced in December 2014 and my system restored from the System Restore disks that came with it when I bought the laptop. Even though I've been online on an infrequent basis it worked just fine for a while. Now that
I've been online a bit more I'm having the same issues again.
Below are my attempts at trouble shooting so far but I still have not been able to consistently resolve my DNS issues
1) Restarting my adapter
2) Turning off my laptop and removing the power supply for 5-10 minutes before turning it back on.
3) Using the IP Config in Command Prompt
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
4) Using the NetSh reset in Command Prompt and restarting my laptop
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
[restart laptop]
5) Configuring the TCP/IP in several settings
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties.
I have used the following settings:
a) Obtain an DNS server address automatically
b) OpenDNS
208 67 222 222
208 67 220 220
c) Google DNS
8 8 8 8
8 8 4 4
6) Updating the driver for my Intel Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN and Intel Centrino(R) WIMAX 6250 from the Intel website previous having my laptop wiped clean in 2014. It still did not resolve the issue. My laptop
manufacturer as not come up with an driver update for my adapter since 2010. I haven't tried to update the adapter driver from Intel's website since having my laptop repaired due to the fact that Intel strongly recommending using the manufacturer's updates
instead and frankly it didn't make much of a difference when I did it the first time.
7) The last one I've tried as of today is going into Services and changing the start up type to automatic for the following:
Computer Browser [changed from manual to automatic]
DHCP Client [already set to automatic]
DNS Client [already set to automatic]
Network Connections [already set to automatic]
Network Location Awareness [changed from manual to automatic]
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) [already set to automatic]
Server [already set to automatic]
TCP/IP Netbios helper [already set to automatic]
Workstation [already set to automatic]
...and I'm still having DNS issues.
My only guessing are that my laptop came with a lemon adapter that needs to be replaced, some advanced setting(s) that I'm not aware off, or my firewall/anti-virus is interfering. I've used Symmantic Anti-virus and Firewall in the past and currently
Avast Anti-Virus with Microsoft Network Firewall. I've had DNS issues with both anti-virus/firewall set ups.
Below are the results from the diagnostics and tests that I've ran.

[Kernel] USB and network trouble
Hey all, i have some trouble getting my system fully running.
I have a built in 3com network card, it uses the 3c59x module in the kernel (got it build into the kernel). I also have a usb cd writer. When i start writing my network fails after sometime. I came from vectorlinux to arch. In VL it worked without a prob. Here check my dmesg output. The most interesting is at the end.

** driver failed to call pci_enable_device(). As a temporary
** workaround, the "pci=routeirq" argument restores the old
** behavior. If this argument makes the device work again,
** please email the output of "lspci" to [email protected]
** so I can fix the driver.

When my network is down, the onlything to restore is is rebooting my computer. Restarting the network daemon does not work. Currently i don't have hotplug running, but with hotplug i encounter the same problem.
I hope anybody can help me.
Greetinx AtzeIt looks like the problem is with ACPI or you have a hardware IRQ conflict..
check for a bios update for your Motherboard and check the bios settings.
It might also help if you moved network card to another pci-slot.
