ResourceBundle within EJB Project

I'd like to use a ResourceBundle from within an EJBProject. While running the sample it can't find the resource bundle simply because it's not in the classpath. I had expected Workshop to package my .properties file in the JAR which gets generated. Unfortunately it doesn't do so.
So how can I include the .properties file in my classpath? Is there some kind of setting that my .properties file automatically gets packaged in the JAR that gets generated? Can I list it somewhere on a classpath, and where might that be?
Any hint/tip is welcome.
Tx,
Vincent

Hi jakeoh
One way you could do it is to create a second Captivate
project that is sized at your desired 1024x768, then insert the
.SWF output from the first project as an animation. But that opens
up another whole can of worms. It means you are expecting to have
all sorts of things that would normally happen on different slides
happening on the same Captivate slide.
Additionally, 1024x768 is a bit on the large side of what we
normally recommend for Captivate output. Of course you are free to
do what you wish, but you should know that we don't recommend
presenting at that size. For one thing, this is normally presented
inside a Browser window. And the browser in and of itself reduces
the available area you have to display, because of things like the
actual frame, assorted toolbars, status bar, etc. This means your
user sees scroll bars (which also further reduce the available
display area).
Things to consider... Rick

  • EJB project IDE build dos not include properties files

    We have property files also which we want included as part of the build process
    for EJB projects but if we use the IDE build it does not include them. We have
    to therefore export the IDE build and customize it to include *.properties like
    this
    <zip basedir="${dest.path}" zipfile="${ejb.outputJar}" encoding="UTF8"> <!-- JARs
    filenames are encoded UTF8 --> <zipfileset dir="${project.local.directory}" includes="*.properties"
    /> </zip>
    which causes a problem for us because the exported build file is specific to a
    user's local PC and cannot be used in a team environment.
    How can we have the IDE build include all the files within an EJB project i.e.
    include properties files also.

    Hey Jamie,
    Currently there is no support to include other .properties files into
    the internal build. There's a build.properties that you get as part of
    an EJB project which you could place your values into and use that as
    your template for your team based development and check that into your
    source control.
    If you'd really like to get gross and hack Workshop a little bit you
    could modify the default EJB project template to use your .properties
    file for every EJB project you create. This would then splat a copy of
    your .properties file into the root of the EJB project.
    To do that you'd go to {your BEAHOME}\workshop\templates and crack open
    the ejb-project.zip template zip file and merge your settings into the
    existing build.properties file. This has the same
    effect as replacing the .properties file after you've created your
    project only it keeps you from having to perform that step each time.
    The downside of this is that each person on your team would then have to
    update that template zip file in their workshop installation. (I'd make
    sure to backup the original template file before performing this
    activity so you can always go back to the original template).
    Hope this helps,
    -Michael

  • EventService lookup from ejb project

    hi
    We want to use the EventService from with in a class which resides in an ejb project of our portal application.
    We used the EventService from within the portal webapp project without problems. With
    Object o = p_context.lookup( "java:comp/env/ejb/EventService" );
    we could lookup the object and narrow it to the EventServiceHome interface. However this does not work within the ejb project.
    We get the error message:
    "javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to look up comp/env/ejb/EventService in /app/ejb/scp_helpers.jar#EJBTTHelper.; remaining name 'comp/env/ejb/EventService'"
    We tried another name which we found in different depoyment descriptors: p13n_ejb.jar#EventService . No success.
    What name do we have to use or shortly: what are we doing wrong? How could we get the EventService SessionBean from within an ejb project?

    look up the resource-ref in web.xml (and weblogic.xml). Add the same in ejb-jar.xml (and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml). The entries are not exactly the same, but the concept is the same.

    William, thanks for the reply.
    I bought this drive module from a private party and was surprised to find out what it was. At first I thought it was just Apple's way of protecting the drive during shipping.
    I own it and will probably have an hard time returning it. It was advertised as a 750GB Seagate SATA ES hard drive. The price was very reasonable, especially if I was buying it as a Drive Module. So if I can sell it great, if not I want to use the drive.
    How can I tell if this is a Xserve RAID module or Drive Module? The box just says Apple Drive Module no mention of RAID. The Apple model # is MA504G/A, and it say Apple Drive Module 750GB SATA (Intel). On the hard drive itself it says Seagate Barracuda ES 750Gbytes.
    If this is just the Drive Module and I can use it in my Mac Pro, does it just unplug or unscrew out of the housing it's in and plug into the Mac Pro like a normal drive? And then can it be used like a normal drive to set up a RAID in the Mac Pro with a duplicate bare drive? It's sealed and I don't want to open it until I know I can use it.
    Sorry for all the questions but I know enough to be dangerous and this this has me stumped.

  • I have photos that are rotated within a photo stream created from a project even though the photo displays properly within the project. How can I get the photos to have the proper rotation within the photo stream?

    I have a photo stream that was created from a subset of photo from a rather large Aperature project. Some of the photos show up rotated within the photo stream but are not rotated within the project. Why is this happening and how do I fix the rotation within the photo stream? I do have the latest version of Aperature and have all of the necessary updates applied to my devices used to view the photo stream. The photos do show up rotated within the photo stream segment of Aperature, so I am sure it is not an issue with the output device (iPad and Apple TV). I do know that I cannot edit photos within a photo stream, but no amount of editing within the project allows the photos to be properly rotated within the photo stream. All help would be greatly appreciated.

    That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
    As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
    Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
    Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
    A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
    The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
    the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.

    Hi Jack,
    This version of the Creator allows you to build applications which access existing EJB's, but doesn't create new EJB's from scratch. We are looking into that for future releases.
    If you want to access an existing EJB, please see the tutorials:
    http://devservices.sun.com/premium/jscreator/standard/learning/tutorials/sessionEJBcomps.pdf
    I believe the Sun Java Studio Standard product can help you create EJB's today, if that's what you need:

  • I can no longer drag photos in Aperture (within a project, between projects

    I find that suddenly I cannot drag photos in Aperture.  In other words, I cannot MOVE a photo at all, whether within a project or between projects and albums, &c.  Not only this, but I cannot copy & paste either.  I can still export photos, though.
    I noticed this first a couple of hours ago when attempting to attach a photo into an email using the Mail application.  It wouldn't budge.  I thought it might have been a problem with the Mail program but no, it appears to be in Aperture because I then tried to drag the photo directly from Aperture into the email (which I've been doing for years).
    I've done a rebuild and all that, yet the problem remains.
    Any suggestions as to what I might do other than export the whole library to Lightroom and start learning all over again?

    Can you confirm:
    - that this is true for many Images?  Try different Images in several Projects.  If possible, try with an Image you had been able to drag-and-drop into Mail in the past.
    - that you can't drag from a Project to an Album.
    - that the Image you can't drag-and-drop has a Preview?  ("Photos➞Update Preview")
    What do you mean us to understand with the "and all that" part of "I've done a rebuild and all that, yet the problem remains"?

  • How to call external jar files in EJB project for CE

    Hi,
    I would be thankful if someone could help me with this -
    I need to call the external jar files into my EJB project - Here is what I have done and am getting runtime exception as  -
    java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/glance/pdf/pt/PTDoc
    1. Created a EJB  project" HelloWorld "  using Java perspective in NWDS 7.1 called with client as HelloWorldClient and EAR project as HelloWorldEAR.
    2. Am working on HelloWorld project (1st one).
    3. In my code I am instantiating a class which is a class in one of  the external jar file that I need to refer in my project.
    4. I have set the Java Build path but it works only for the compile time and fails during runtime.
    5. Have read I need to create external library DC and refer in my project "HelloWorld".
    Can anyone help me with exact steps what needs to be done - during creation of external library project and then for my "HelloWorld" EJB project. How would I be able to reference or set the external library project in my EJB project?
    Looking forward to hear from experts.
    Thanks,

    Hi Edson,
    I tried it , but it still gives me runtime exception.
    javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/glance/pdf/pt/PTDoc
    java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/glance/pdf/pt/PTDoc
    Steps I performed are -
    1. Created a library project and created 2 Public parts "Compilation" and "Assembly"
    2. Build the library project.
    Now in my EJB project using Project Explorer - set the classpath and added both compilation jar and assembly jar files.
    This is how the classpath entries for external library looks like -
    <classpathentry kind="lib" path="/LocalDevelopmentLocalDevelopmentexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarkingdemo.sap.com/gen/default/public/WatermarkAssembly/lib/java/demo.sap.comexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarking~WatermarkAssembly.jar"/>
         <classpathentry kind="lib" path="/LocalDevelopmentLocalDevelopmentexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarkingdemo.sap.com/gen/default/public/WatermarkCompilation/lib/java/demo.sap.comexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarking~WatermarkCompilation.jar"/>
    I have also added the jar files I used in my external library project as "User Library" from Java Build Path . I dont do it , then the code fails during compilation itself.

  • Configuring Log4j for a EJB Project.

    Hi,
    I have a weblogic EJB project as a Ear file. The project has no web components (so war file). I want to know which is the ideal way to initialize log4j in this situation.
    I can use listener class thro' weblogic-application.xml. But there is no neat way to passing the log4j.xml thro' parameter from weblogic-applicaiton.xml file.
    If we are using servlet we could use init-parm to passing xml file. I don't want to hard code the xml file location in the listener class.
    What is the best practice to initialize log4j for a EJB project?
    Thanks in advance.
    Anand

    Dan,
    I had a similar problem because I wanted to define my own log4j config regardless of what other portal apps were deployed in the BEA domain or what log4j was the default for the domain. This is what I do:
    1) Put your log4j config file in the WEB-INF classes dir (or I guess it could be in some other place that the CLASSPATH knows of)
    2) Create a servlet that looks like:
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import org.apache.log4j.xml.*;
    public class Log4jInitServlet extends HttpServlet {
    private static final long serialVersionUID = 23456;
    public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
    super.init(config);
    DOMConfigurator.configure(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("myLog4jConfigFile.xml"));
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) {
    3) Add the servlet definition in the web.xml and add a <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    That should do it.
