Response file creation in Oracle
Hi,
I have a scenario where I need to use Embedded Oracle along with Application.
For that I have performed the folowing Steps and I need anyones suggestion regarding this:
1.I have created Template from Existing Database from my Local Environment (.dbc file)
2.I have generated Response file(.rsp) from the Oracle Universal Installation.
Now the question is there are no of parameter set in the Response file(.rsp) which needs to be modified.
Does the Password Parameter in the Response files needs Modification?
Do I need Installation command as below:
install.cmd <MY_ORACLE_HOME> <ORACLE_HOME_NAME> <responseFileDir> <CD_DISK_DRIVE> <monitorFile> <INSTALL_TYPE>
Kindly any suggestion will be helpful for me

There is a unsed method in the java file, if I remove it and not just comment it and deploy the class file, I don't get the exception but with that method (even commented out) I get the exception.
Well you might say, where is the problem, as method is anyway unused get rid of it. But I want to use it going ahead :-)
Anyway, today our server is throwing lot of unexpected errors, will again check tomorrow.

Automating Oracle Server Installation using response file
I am automating Oracle Server Installation using response file. No Installer page should be displayed, except 'Optional Config Tools' page at the end of the installation showing the list of optional configuration tools e.g Net Configuration Assistant, Database Configuration Assistant, and Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant. All other pages would not be displayed.
My response file doesn't seem to work this way. During installation, it displays the 'Create Database' page asking whether you want Database Configuration Assistant to be automatically launched at the end of the installation for database creation. How do I prevent this page from displaying, while selecting default option (Yes) using response file?Provide info about the OS you are using and Oracle version.

Oracle 8.1.7 Client Install Response Files

I need some help with Oracle Response files. I am trying to push out an installation package with Systems Management Server smsclitocken account not working. I need to find a way to get this package out without those priviliges (Switch User isn't available to me to use either, by policy). I need some sort of relative pathing solution. Relative pathing doesn't appear to work with the response files and their paths, but I am wondering if I am missing something. Is there an alternative in the Oracle Response files to unc and hard coding the drive letter??? If someone has some examples, I'd love to see them. Thank you for your help!!!

Install Oracle 11g 2 with response file
Using the steps detailed here:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24187/advance.htm I was able to create a response file for Oracle client 11.2.0.1.win32. I created the response file by starting a manual installation (On a Windows 7 client) and then clicking on the option to create and save a response file. I exited out of the Oracle install before completing it.
I then used this response file during a Windows 7 unattended install using this at the command prompt: setup.exe -silent -nowelcome -nowait -noconfig - responseFile [location]
My question is how do I set up variables in the response file so that it will work on installs for other users?

What variables can I use so that I can use a single response file for multiple users?I know no way of doing so, but I am not a Windows expert. For the last two parameters (ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE), it is best practice to have these values the same across multiple machines, for ease of maintainability - think of future maintenance scripts you will likely have to write - if these parameters are the same across many computers, your scripting would be much easier/simpler/cleaner

We are going to upgrade our Oracle client on our clients to 11.2.0.3. But I can not record a resopnsfile with setup.exe.
Have Oracle removed this feature?

There is no record option with 11gR2.
There is no need to use '-record' flag to record/save the response file. At Summary page of installation, 11gR2 installer provides option to save the response file. We can perfom the silent installation using this saved response file
Unix:
./runInstaller -silent -responseFile <saved_response-file>
Windows:
c:\software\11.2.0.1\database\setup.exe -responseFile <saved_response-file>

Oracle 10g password in response file
Hi guys,
I am trying to install oracle 10.2.0.1 on solaris using response file. The "funny" thing is that when setting passwords to something like 0RAcle1 (first char is "zero"). it throws an error:

Does Oracle 9i Standard Edition come in 3 CDs??. I heard problems about providing response files to silent install Oracle 9.2.0.1 server.
I am about receive a licensed copy of Oracle 9i and I am looking at creating a response file for silent installation.
Is it necessary to copy contents of 3 CDs into one location on a harddrive on our users Server inorder for response file to work???
We will be installing Oracle 9.2.0.1 on Win2000 server.

Installing and Configuring Oracle stand alone grid Using Response Files

I am looking for some help if you have done the oracle restart (standalone grid) installation using response file , when i tried to install using response files it is not creating the ASM disks , so i might be missing some steps . Can you please share if you have done this installation of if you have a right document to do this .

Oracle Universal Installer response files and platform independency
Hi all,
The Oracle Universal Installer is a platform-independent system, to what extent are Oracle Universal Installer response files platform-independent? For sure it's not completely platform-independent, because path definitions aren't portable - Windows versus Linux for example. My hope is that all possible variables within response files are exactly the same as on different platforms. Also the possible values for the variables should be portable, except for the path definitions, of course.
Can anyone confirm that my thoughts are true?

This problem frequently occurs because of the wrong DISPLAY settings. Please perform the steps on a X-term terminal screen;
1) under root user
2) xhost +
3) su - ora<sid>
4) echo $DISPLAY
5) setenv DISPLAY <client ip>:(result of echo $DISPLAY) (for example setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.100:0.0)
6) xclock (test X-Client)
If it works then you will be able to run "./runInstaller", for example
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP
./RUNINSTALLER

Create Custom response file for Oracle 9i client
I am trying to create a customized response file for oracle 9i client installation,
setup -record -destinationFile C:\response_files\install_oracle
i replaced setup with the path and i followed the instruction correctly, after the installation is done i do get two response files in the location
Then i created a batch file to run the response file , it installed , but when i check the compmonents what ever is installed, it never recorded all the components which i installed during the time of RECORD mode
is there any thing i need to do for record all the components

We need to run both the run time installation and custom installation
when i did record i was able to get only the run time installation, the components which i customized, i never got, after when i try to install the response file, it never installa all the components

TonyPresumably, any method that allows you to remotely run code on the group of computers would allow you to do a silent install of the Oracle client and ODBC driver. I know Microsoft and various third parties sell such tools, but I'm not enough of a Windows admin to know anything about the relative benefits of the products in this category.

Installing oracle client 10g with response file

When I use the responsefile created from the record option, it does not install all option I had chosen, allthough the responsefile gives them.
