Restaring Essbase OK without restarting other services

I'm on Hyperion Planning S 9.3.1 and I need to stop and start my essbase service and wondered if that can be done without restarting all the other related services. I have the restart order list for when I restart the Workspace/Rpts/WA/Planning/HSS services but am wondering where Essbase fits in this list.

Thanks for both replies! Things had gotten frozen up earlier today and I was hoping a quick essbase restart would have cleared it up. Before I got to that pretty much had to restart all my services to get things going again.
Over the last couple months, when our network gets over utilized it seems to be freezing up our environment. Weird thing is we have five MSAD sources (about 500 users). We have users from TN to MI to AK using our central servers.
When our network gets over utilized between two locations in MI (our HQ and a plant across the state) I go into HSS and pull properties for users and it nearly hangs or is real slow. Then this seems to ultimately effect my logging into EAS, the Excel Add-In and eventually the Workspace with an ID from either of those sites.
I can click the 'test' in HSS for each of those MSAD configurations and get successful test's but it's slow. Our TN connectivity and performance doesn't seem to be bothered during these events either which is weird. But since I'm hosed with two sets of our user base I have to restart which effects everyone.
I'm not sure where to dig into this further to identify the root cause of how this is happening or how HSS to Essbase. We've been on 9.3.1 for almost 2 years now and periodically have had to restart services but it's becoming more common and our IT had basically said our network is always going to be over utilized at time (which I understand) but I don't want to have to restart everything every time that happens. Any tips or areas/setting I might look at to make the environment more resistent to network instability?

Not able to access the links to Essbase Console, Planning and Shared Servic

I am trying to access the links to Essbase Console, Planning and Shared Services but I get the following error message.
Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. I tried to restart all the services on all the servers and also restarted the servers but it didn't work.
I found some more errors in the starter file on the Linux box.

Have to restart VPN service after restarting macmini

Hello,
i am using a mid2011 macmini with Lion Server (10.7.2-Build 11C74) loaded over the Appstore, connected to an Airport Extreme (FW 7.6). I configured the VPN service in the Server settings and forwarded the profile to the clients. VPN connection works just fine.
When i restart the macmini none of the clients are able to connect with the VPN Service. Other services are running without any problems (screensharing, filesharing,...), but i cannot connect with the VPN service through any client.
After i restart the VPN Service (switch off and back on) in the Server App on the macmini it works again.
Is anyone experiencing similar behaviour with the VPN service after a restart of the server? Has anyone suggestions how to get the VPN service working even after a restart without switching it off and on again?
If you need further information please reply, i will hand it in immediately.
FYI:
I did make a complete clean install of the Server, without import of the timemachine backup to ensure the system is "clean".

Restart Data Services 3.2 fails

I can not access trace log, monitor log and error log files. Every time accessing through links I get a time out error. The Server is available and accessible. I just tried to restart the BusinessObjects Data Service - Server through the BO-DS-Servermanager. This has not worked. I can not restart the service "BusinessObjects Data Services".
This Error occures : Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
This happened sometime last months. When I restart the server then all is ok again.

2. What is the error message in Event Viewer (Start > Run > eventvwr.msc)?
3. What user run this service (Start > Run > services.msc > Business Objects Data Services > Properties > Log On tab)?
4. Is Data Execution Prevention disabled? (My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Prevention tab)?

How to manually restart a service

systemuiserver hung up on me recently and after forcing it to quick in activity monitor, I could not figure out how to restart the service. I'm new to mac from windows, where I would just go to where the services are listen and click restart. I did try blindly using 'launchctl start systemuiserver', but it didn't find the tag systemuiserver. And i tried 'launchctl com.apple.systemuiserver' but that tag wasnt found either.
Any ideas on how to restart a service without having to reboot?

The Applets,BC & IO are called Siebel Objects, not components. Any update or change done in the Siebel Objects should be compiled and the srf has to be replaced in the server. It definitely requires server restart to take effect.

Running Essbase 6.1 as a service on Windows 2000

OK, what's the scoop about running Essbase 6.1 as a service on Windows 2000?Besides not seeing the graphic interface, are there any issues? Are there any issues with shutting down the Essbase server by either clicking "Stop" in the Services panel or issuing a Net Stop service command?Finally, has anyone successfully used Microsoft's "Srvany" utility to run Essbase as a service yet still display the graphic windows?Do most of y'all on NT or 2000 run as a service or as an app?

Just a little extra information about running Essbase as a Service. We are running on NT 4.0. If one application is causing a problem, you can kill the one application without having to reboot the server. You will need to know which application is causing your problem and You will need to know it's "process id". If you can't find the right process id by looking at "tlist", you can look in the ESSBASE.LOG. Start at the bottom of the log and search backwards for the text "started with process id". When you find the process id of the problem application, you can then kill it at the DOS prompt by typing "kill ###", where ### is the process id.This is helpful for us because we have about 10 applications on one server and we don't want to have to take all of Essbase down just for one application. Hope this is helpful to someone.

That makes sense. If the session contains an instance of an old class, and
          you cast it to the new class, then you should get a class cast exception.
          One way around this is to use interfaces that are (for development) in one
          of the outer class paths (system or weblogic, I can't remember which) ...
          the only time you mention the class name is to new it. Then you cast the
          contents of the session attributes to those interfaces. The interfaces can
          not change without restarting the server, but the implementations can.

For the second time in as many weeks apex 3.0.1(?) has stopped working while the database (10gR2) hasn't missed a beat.
How do I restart apex?
How do I get it to restart automatically on failure.
How do I receive failure notification messages.
How do I diagnose the cause of the failure.
We were looking at using apex in a production environment but the prospect of unplanned restarts of production databases every week is a little daunting.

1) So your Web server is the XDB HTTP protocol server and embedded PL/SQL gateway (basically, the database's embedded Web server)? Is this 11g? If so, what platform?
2) Are there any reported issues in the database alert log?
3) When you check the status of the database listener, does it show services running for this specific port (default 8080, I guess)?
4) If you normally go to http://server:port/apex, when this situation occurs, what happens when you try and go to http://server:port?

When Essbase.sec file got corrupted services will fail frequently.
If you have back up of essbase.sec then replace it and restart the services or you need to create the essbase.sec file from starting.

SharePoint chart webpart to display charts. Or you can use any jQuery charting library and feed data using JSOM or REST. Ex. high charts:

Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services
Is there a way to update a common external dictionary used by many services without migrating each and every service that uses the dictionary. I have updated the table in the database and the external dictionary in our Development Environment. The external dictionary is used by many services. When I migrate the changed service to TEST/STAGE/PROD environments (NOTE: the table has been updated in the TEST/STAGE/PROD Databases), only the changed service is having the external dictionary updated. All other services that use the same external dictionary are NOT updated. I have the following questions
Is it possible to migrate dictionaries so that all the services which are using that dictionary are updated?
If the first one is not possible, Is there any other way to update the external dictionary without migrating all the services that use dictionary?

as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine
