Restart and manual N95

Am I blind or stupid?
I think it is absolutly fantastic that the manual has no general picture of the N95 describing the different parts. I just had a frozen phone and looked for the button for restart. But with no picture in the manual to describe the different buttons and the word "Restart" not found in the index I paniced and tried to put the tip of a pen into every little whole I found, including that of the mic I discovered later. Can someone from Nokia answer the two questions? 1. Why no general picture of the N95 in the manual? 2. Why no "restart" in the index?

Hi hanso
Apart from the user guide there is an insert which may either be network branded or for SIM free versions in UK is N95-1 9249885, Issue 2EN.
There is no "restart" single button, firstly try removing the battery for a few minutes. You can cary out a "hard reset" by keying in *#7370# or the "Three finger reset" as described in Paragraph 45 of FAQ to Nokia Software Updater. Please be aware that all data would be erased by this procedure.

I guess he wanted to restart not "Reset" and was looking for a reset button.

    Hello,
I inserted a new DVD in my mac book pro, its working and the drive is reading the dvd but unfortunately is not coming out. I have tried several ways mentioned on all over the net and apple community websites but nothing has worked so far.
I need a easier and manual way to eject the DVD. Where is apple's help?
Please help me. This is one of the weaknesses Apple should work on because it is causing us pain and loss of efficiency which is not apple's quality.
    Thanks

Thanks for asking, actually I just found a trick on a website.
It siad that restart MBP while holding eject button, I did it and DVD came out right away.
I hope that this works out for everyone.
But still there is a need for a manual eject system so that people don't worry about stucking the DVD or CD in th drive.
    Thanks anyway dear.

  • Restart and reboot

what is the difference between restart and reboot ,often confusing...

When you reboot a role instance, the instance is taken offline, the underlying operating system is restarted for that instance, and the instance is brought
back online. Any data that is written to the local disk is persisted across reboots. Any data that is in-memory is lost.
    Ref - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/gg441298.aspx
In particular to cloud services, - customizations done on the role instances e.g. manually installed software, deployed files (either through RDP or through web deploy) will be lost and the instance will be brought back to the initial state.

  • Hello my Mac Air is frozen on the grey screen (with the apple symbol, sleeping mode, restart-and off button), once you turn it on.

hello my Mac Air is frozen on the grey screen (with the apple symbol, sleeping mode, restart-and off button), once you turn it on. I Can`t press any button. My Mouse still works. Battery is charged. Alt-cmd-escape doesn`t work It even after a forced shutting off, the problem is the same.   what should i do? Thank you for your help.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. The battery is distinct from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • Right before windows 7 finished install it just restarts and is stuck in a loop

I have a 2011 MBP, i used bootcamp to set up a windows partition and then tried to install Windows 7.  The installer get all the way through creating the user account for windows, then right at the end when it says "creating your desktop for you" or something like it... it just restarts and then endlessly restarts unless i stop it and just boot into the mac os.  even if i restart the computer and manually try to boot from the newly installed winblows 7 operating system, it just automatically restarts.
I've tried reinstalling the OS... first i delete the partition on which it was installed, but has done the same thing twice.
Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing this?

The Mouse moves but will not click. Already tried restarting and the pram zap. The problem starts when I log out of my main profile. I get to the login screen and my laptop stops responding to clicks. When I manage to make my way back to my main profile the mouse works perfectly.  Should I just delete the new profile and try again?

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

    Dear Leslie J.,

If you have not recently set up an iPad with your Apple ID, then you should change your Apple ID password. Learn more.

    1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
    2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.
    Is your iPad working?

My new iMac has recently had OSX Lion installed on it and now when I start the machine it looks like its updating something every time, and the wireless doesn't work. So I restart and everything is OK - until I have to start up again the next time - then I have to repeat this again! Any help appreciated.

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited.  In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items.  I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible.  I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected.  Hope this helps!

When you said you have no fax machines on your line, that does include computers directly connected to the phone line?
The reason that I ask is a computer with a dial-up modem (a non broadband modem) that can connect to your phone line, can have software that makes the computer act as a fax machine.

  • View open qty and manually close SO

    Hi,
Example : I have SO with qty 10pcs, but only 3pcs are delivered, the remaining 7pcs are yet to be delivered. Hence, this SO is still open. The thing now is that I want to see the open qty and manually close the SO.
I tried with VA05 but it doesn't show the open qty. What transaction to view the open qty? How to manually close an open SO? Is there a button or checkbox that I can just click on it to close the SO?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
As said that you want to close the sales order for 7 qty of total 10 qty.
    When do the following.
Goto the sales order created, goto the line item eg 10 scroll towards right side of the screen to find the field " Reason for Rejection" assign the relavent message why you want to close the order for remaining quantity.
If you have many line items you can reject the undeliveried line items if you want them not to delivery.
    Kindly Reward points if usefull.

iMovie won't respond.  I've restarted and "forced-quit" move, but not getting a response.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions... tried changing resolution and that had no effect, and I've checked my Perian and DivX installations in System Preferences and both say they are completely up to date. I upgraded Quicktime today to 7.5 before all of this became a problem -- but I don't know how to upgrade iLife. In Software Update everything is completely up to date (eg each of the iLife apps).
Oh well, iMovie is not very useful to me anyway -- just somehow annoying that it fails to work. No point flogging a dead horse!!
Any other ideas gratefully received... many thanks in advance

  • 15-minute restarts and hanging finder

Help!  I've been trying all the solutions I can find in these and other boards and so far nothing has worked.
Yesterday, while I had several applications open, I right-clicked on an image file to open it with Photoshop and my whole system froze (although the audio for a YouTube video kept playing in the background, even though the picture hung.)  Now my system is taking approximately 15 minutes to restart and the finder is hanging for up to 5 or 10 minutes at a time for most mouse clicks.
I'm running 10.6.8 on a Mac Mini.  A few days an Excel file corrupted which I think might have been the first sign that something was wrong.  Every time I tried to click on the file the whole system would hang.
Here's what I've tried to so far:
Trashed Google Drive (by dragging the application into the trash)
    Trashed com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
    Trashed com.apple.finder.plist
    Repaired permissions multiple times
Booted in safe mode (in which the finder would still hang)
Ran several functions in Spring Cleaning 10 - file checker, launch services rebuilder, permissions fixer, system cache cleaner
Ran a couple of terminal commands that I found in a discussion about freezing finders
The restart sequence goes like this:
    Choose restart from menu
The "Are you sure" window comes up but the one minute timer is stalled and it takes several minutes to be able to click on "Restart"
All of the desktop goes away except the background image, which hangs for about two minutes.
    There is a chime
The apple screen appears for approximately 2.5 minutes
A blank white screen appears for approximately 2 minutes
A blank blue screen appears for approximately 3 minutes
A blank black screen appears for approximately 2.5 minutes
Another blank blue screen appears for about 1.5 minutes
The desktop background shows up without icons for approximately 1 minute
The desktop icons appear but are not function for another 1.5 minutes or so.
I've tried everything I can think of and desperately need help!  I've got a backup from a couple days ago, but my Mac Mini shipped without installation discs, so it's going to be a couple days before I can get a friends in the event that I need to reformat.  I'd really like to not have to do that if possible.
    Thanks in advance!!!

The (gray) discs that come with a Mac will only boot that type of Mac, and those built around the same time:
Unless your friend has the same model and build period, you need either a Retail Install disc (you can get one from the online Apple Store for $19.99) at http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard:
Or call AppleCare, give them your Mac's serial number, and they can send a replacement set of original discs (including iLife apps and the Apple Hardware Test for your Mac) for a nominal fee.

Running a mid 2009 iMac on 10.7.5, 3 gb memory, 320 gb hd.
Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart.  Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk.  I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work.  The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine.  When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All  of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:
    http://www.crucial.com/store/drammemory.aspx
I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.
I hope you'll post here with your results!

    Hello KCC4ME,
You may try booting your Mac in Safe Boot, as it can resolve many issues that may prevent a successful login.

If a Safe Boot allows you to successfully log in, you may have issues with one or more login itmes (while the following article is labelled as a Mavericks article, it is viable for earlier versions of the Mac OS, as well).
