Restart during bootup sequence

My PC resets itself initially during boot up. It only ever does it on the first attempt to boot. When it resets itself, it boots straight into Windows (XP) no problem.
Not a critical problem I know but annoying. I'd like to know why it's doing this. The processor is running a bit hot at the moment (60 Deg C). I have a new CPU fan+heatsink on order at the moment. I've just upgraded from a 300W psu and its made no difference.

This sounds like the infamous "Cold Boot" problem, check this link:

Thanks Rene, I have updated the ticket with the required information. In the mean time I am interested if anyone else had had a similar problem during an upgrade. We did have an initial error with the crtsidusr command ( setting CLASSICUSERCONCEPT + removing some of the SPCAUT) seemed to fix that. At this point the upgrade failed and we had to manually APYSAPKRN, the log shoewed it wanted the NON UC which was odd as we are including the UC in the upgrade.

    Hello neegie
Try putting your iPhone into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. After that then test it out. If during the restore you get and error code, check it against the second article for further assistance.

  • OSD: install software DURING task sequence based upon collection membership

    Hi,
I'd like to refer to my
previous post as a starting point.
Below again the background of my question. But please advise on a powershell script that runs at the end of a task sequence that:
*enumerates the pc's collection memberships and based upon that lists the software available
*puts this software in a variable and does the installation DURING the task sequence
    J.
    Background:
At this time, software in our deployment (of Windows 7) is installed AFTER the task sequence is finished.
The software is deployed based upon the computer membership of collections (which get their info from AD groups).
Problem is that users see their pc as finished but don't have all their software. It even takes sometimes more then an hour even when we refresh computer policy after final reboot of the system. That's why we really need a bulletproof solution = installation
    of software DURING task sequence.
    Jan Hoedt

I found some time to adjust the script. Now I've created something similar for a device. Basically it finds the collections of which the device is a member, finds the targeted applications and creates task sequence variables for those applications.

  • Curve 8900 restarts during call

Onto my second curve 8900 from Hong Kong in a week after the first had a power leakage from motherboard (fried travel charger and ran down battery really quickly) and reset during calls.  Got a replacement but it's also restarting during calls.  Any ideas?  Could it be a software issue?

Did you try reset of device by pulling the battery out?
I think you would be better of by replacing the device.

  • Would it cause any harm to stop the DBworker process on the logger and let it restart during business hours?

I'm trying to connect to a database in an ICM script for the first time and I added a new database user to the Router registry. I think I must have to restart the service to activate the new credentials. Would it cause any harm to stop the DBworker process on the logger and let it restart during business hours?

    Lisa,
You shouldn't need to restart any processes. If you already had the database setup in Database Lookup Explorer before putting the credentials in the registry, you can just make a change to the Database Loookup entry, and the Router will try to reconnect.
Also, the Logger has nothing to do with ICM database lookups - the DBworker is part of the Router processes.

  • 6500 CLASSIC-Restart during calls

I have had it with this one. Its a known fact that there is this issue with this phone, that it restarts during calls to a white screen.
Lets start counting how many people on this forum are having this issue, and eventually lets hope that nokia would finally stop cheating us out of a bad quality product

Restart during calls is a fault that shows up in many different models, i think its the first time i heard in 6500 Classic.
Firmware update won't likely do anything about that, but calibrating your antenna will probably fix it (can only be done by nokia care points thou). Sometimes also happens while using a old SIM card version, just try to test your phone with a recent SIM card before you take your phone to repair.

  • Pivot_root message during bootup

    Hi all,
During bootup just before INIT, the following message is displayed:
    pivot_root: pivot_root: Invalid argument
    I'm booting the 2.6.15-archck kernel.
My pc seems to work fine. But why is this message displayed? Just curious.
    Cheers,
    Jules

Its just a minor mistake on my behalf in the initramfs system. When I have time, I will be giving mkinitramfs a big cleanup, which should remove this. In the meantime, it's entirely harmless.

  • Unable to detect coreless keyboard during bootup

I have just updated my T60P's BIOS to 2.25.  Now I could NOT use my coreless keyboard (LX710) to input the HDD password anymore.  It seemed that the keyboard was NOT detected during bootup.  But it worked fine after it finished bootup.  What can I do to fix it?  Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can I connect keyboard/mouse to shutdown Win2K when I dod not connect it during bootup?

I would like to bootup even keyboard/mouse is NOT connected, but the problem is I cannot use keyboard after then. Can I connect and use keyboard/mouse when I did not connect them during bootup?

When using Windows 2000 with default startup options, it will always check if a keyboard and mouse are connected or not. If it cannot find either of them it will give you a warning.
If you boot the computer without a keyboard nor a mouse connected to it, it will not load the necessary drivers and you will not be able to use either one of them after boot up. However, you can boot with a mouse and keyboard connected, and then remove them. This way you will be able to re-connect and use them again later on.
You could also use a keyboard/mouse emulator to start up your system. You will have to check with the provider of the emulator if this solution allows you to connect and use a normal mouse and keyboard after boot up.
You could also try to find out how to c
hange registry entries of Windows 2000, so it boots up without checking for neither mouse nor keyboard, and logs in automatically. This way you would not need a keyboard/mouse emulator, and you could try using a USB keyboard and a USB mouse. Windows 2000 offers native support for USB devices and they are hot swappable.
For this last option, keep in mind that only PXI-8176 and PXI-8175 controllers have 2 USB ports. PXI-8174 controllers have only one USB port, as some other older controllers, such us PXI-8170 and PXI-8156B.
    Hope this helps,

  • E50 restarts during the call

Hi, my E50 sometimes restarts during a call.. usually you can hear a buzz for a few seconds and then it restarts.
It happend before updating to the newer firmware, but after this it happens more often.
There are only 4 applications (GnuBox, Xlator, AutoLock & Maps) installed on it and 1GB Toshiba memory card within.
    Any ideas ??
    Thanks in advance.

  • Computer restarts during downloads, previews, etc..

I'm having a problem when I try to preview a song or try to download or even when I try to listen to a song on my ipod via the computer. This does not happen all the time, but frequently enough to make it very very annoying. What happens is my computer decides it needs to restart during one of these events. This does not happen with any other programs, only iTunes. Any ideas? Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions. I have been messing around with this pc for a couple of months. The battery charging connector is fixed (the battery is charging) and I am using AC power when installing the OS.
I do believe the HD is good; but, really don't know for sure.  Using the media disks, I have wiped it clean by running that option. It takes 22 hours to run that option. The recovery process runs completely and finishes. It is after that when things go bad.
The PC starts and gives you the starting for the first time screen. It then goes into the “Configuring System” mode and runs  for about 15 plus minutes. It shuts down and restarts a number of times.
It finally restarts, the “Configuring System”  page comes up with a configuring drivers label and freezes. No mouse, no nothing. It will set there for ever it seems. That is the part I don't get. No errror message, no nothing.
When you force a restart, it doesn't give you the normal windows "bad shut down" screen. Just goes to the password request. Which is wrong because there are no assigned users to have passwords.
Wish I did have another HD to try, maybe I will put this HD in an other pc and see what happens.
