Restart during Maverick download, computer now at startup screen

Downloading stalled about a quarter of the way through during my Maverick installation so I restarted my computer. After restarting, my computer entered the start up screen asking me to either reinstall, start from time machine, etc. I do not have my operating disk handy and do not have time machine set up. Is there any way to revert back to Lion to attempt a fresh installation of Maverick? I don't want to loose all my files as they are not backed up. I am running on a 2012 MacBookPro. 1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?

Do you see everything out of focus right from when the unit turns on, or only after getting to the desktop? You should try a PRAM reset to start. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

Upgraded to mavericks, computer now has gray screen with whirly sign and does not load

Added parental controls and computer now a black screen

I put parental controls on my son's macbook pro and the next day the computer is a black screen. What happened? I can't turn the computer off or get back to the desktop. Any suggestions?

Changing TV's only is not a big deal, and it should work as long as you are in the same room, and using the same coax cable that comes from the wall.
Just make sure the cable coming from the wall goes to where it says RF IN or FIOS TV IN on the back of the set top box
Make sure you are using one of the following
Coax Cable from the Back of the STB where it is labled "TO TV" and the other end plugs into the TV where it says CABLE IN ANTENNA IN or something to that effect.   It will give you Modulated RF (on channel 3 only), so use your TV remote to put it on channel 3, or the up and down channel button on the TV set itself to tune to channel 3.
Composite Video (red white and yellow) from the back of the STB to the Back of the TV labled video IN.    Then use your TV Pay attention to where you plugged it in on your tv, it should be labeled, like AV 1 or AV2 or Video 1 or video 2, and then use your TV Remote to select the correct input.
If it's an HD set top box and a newer tv, then you'll want to get yourself a HDMI cable from monoprice.com or amazon.com.   They are only a couple bucks.

White screen during mavericks download now what do I do?

While upgrading to Mavericks I got a white screen, now what do I do?

I shut down and turned it back on and it seems to continue downloading where it left off.

HT1539 My computer shut off during the download and now it says my code has been used but it did not download to my iTunes, is there another way to download it?

Can someone please tell me what to do if I was downloading a digital copy of a dvd from and website and my computer turned off in the middle...now it tells me the code has already been used but it did not download, ugh.

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode for it to be recognised by your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and re-sync your content to it.

Forced to restart library on my computer now i cant sync my phone nor my ipad

i recently had to restart my laptop due to a virus and lost about 900+ songs now of course i cannot afford to rebuy all of these due to the fact that most of them are from old cds i no longer own and friends music they gave me from mp3 players they no longer have is there a way to add my music back to my computer from my ipad or iphone or if not can i sync new music to my devices without deleting all my older music?

Macbook Hangs on Restart During Mavericks Install, Won't Get Through Post

This is the second time I've posted this and have had no replies from anyone. Here goes again. I tried installing Mavericks over Snow Leopard. Went fine untill the machine rebooted. Now I'm stuck. It doesn't get through Post. To add to the problem is that the screen is cracked and I can't hook up to an external monitor so I'm left in a virtual mess. I've tried all the commands to back out of this mess. The only one that seems to get me anywhere is logging in Verbose Mode. Unfortunately I can only see a small portion of the screen in the left corner and can't get any further. It appears the only way to get beyond this is to get into a terminal screen. If I could, I wouldn't even know where to start cause I don't do any work in Terminal. Any ideas how to get out of this situation and get my machine back?

I think you're right.
If it's hardware related, is it possible to guess at what it might be? It would be nice to know how much I should expect to pay for a repair before actually getting it fixed.

IMac and power failure, now new startup screen and abrupt shutoff

Had a power failure, iMac kept turning on and off, finally unplugged and after 8 hours, I try to start and I get a screen that has the apple logo and spinning load animation, but also a new bar that shows something is being worked on. It reaches the end and abruptly shuts off.

Hello hope you can help. I have a 24 inch Mid 2007 Intel iMac. It has been great until now. I recently did the Maverick update and now my login screen does not work. When I wake the computer up the screen appars with my picture icon. When I click on it nothing happens. If I click on it a second or third time the beach ball appears and nothing happens. I have to shut the unit down with the power button and when the unit powers back up everything works normally. Are there any suggestions out there? I have updated the software without resolution. Is this computer too old? Do I have to buy a new one?

Your iMac can support Mavericks according to the requirements > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Try a Safe Mode boot. That deletes some system caches that may help.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
See if there's an improvement for the login screen.

Stuck on startup screen; locked firmware (password) won't allow CD Boot...?

When the system began to act strange, I tried to install with a 10.5 Update/Install Disk. When the software wouldn't install ("You can not install this software on this disk."), I restarted the drive, but nothing happened. I ran Disk Utility from the 10.5 CD. I repaird the HD, and restored the permissions by pressing the "Repair", and "Repair Permissions" buttons. When it indicated that the hard drive was "OK", (using the 10.5 Install Disk,) I set the firmware password locking it to keep others from starting with a CD.
Now, the startup screen will not display any users; the blue "load" indicator will not complete, and appears to be stuck. First I tried holding down the "C" key, but it wouldn't start from the CD. Then I tried re-setting the PBG4 to factory settings by holding down the option, command, "P" and "R" keys, but it won't make the second "reboot" sound, and continues with the blue "start-up" indicator. (I'm in real trouble, because I'm supposed to have my College Papers ready by this weekend, but they're stuck on my computer.) Does anyone have any sollutions??? Pleeeeeease help; I'l l b u y y o u s o m e c a n d y!

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Usually you get a 'can't install on this disk' when you try to use a gray-faced system disk from another system, like MacBook or iMac or other non-Powerbook. Those disks are locked to the systems they are distributed with. The only way to upgrade to 10.5 is with a black-faced retail disk.
Have you tried starting the system holding the alt/option key down? That should prompt you for the firmware password, then give give you a choice of device to boot from.
You didn't indicate why your system was beginning to act strange, so don't know if that has any bearing on your current start issues.
