Restart footnotes but NOT page numbers word 2008

Hi, I'm trying to format my thesis and I need footnotes to restart with each chapter but NOT the page numbers. I have sorted out my page numbering the way I needed to (which included arabic numbering for the front matter and then roman numbering restarting with the first chapter) - but now I need to sort out my footnotes which are continuously numbered throughout the document.
I need my footnotes to restart with each chapter (section) but the page numbers to continue. I tried inserted Section Break (Continuous) for each chapter and while that restarted the footnote count it also restarted the page number count and I couldn't figure out how to fix that.
Help please??

Would like to update only Keynote but not Pages & Numbers

After installing iWork '09, I went ahead and removed Pages and Numbers, because I didn't need them but only Keynote.
With today's release of version 5.0.5 for Keynote, is there any way I can get this update? Because the updater is saying that it has to see all three apps for the updater to work; it cannot work without Pages and Numbers.
Does this mean I have to reinstall iWork whenever there's a new update, then remove the unwanted Pages and Numbers apps? It is quite bothersome for me to do that everytime there's a new update.

When I do the update, I get a request about google and decline. I am not sure why you do not get such a selection. To get better information, try the Flash forum.

When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

[CS2][JS]Page Numbering but not Page Number

I am working on this doument that has a pagination but it requires an id line where i have to put the number of page but not the actual pagination. I know it sounds weird but to make the picture clearer:
the header of the page is 469 to 524
but on the footer it should be 1 to 56.
is there anyway i can do this on the master page so i won't have to do this manually on the footer of each individual page?

How can I import .doc word files into Pages from Word 2008 for Mac?

I find that if I try to insert a .doc document from the earlier version of Word for the Mac, it works fine, but if I try to insert a doc which has been saved in "compatibility mode" as a .doc in Word 2008, Pages doesn't recognise it. I didn't even know there was any difference in these two kinds of .doc
Does anyone know a workaround?

I can open them as I go using an intermediate app (Word for choice as presumably it preserves more of the formatting than TextEdit), then I can just copy and paste the text into my Pages doc. In my particular case this is tolerable, but I have a friend who I assist sometimes who I know has a lot of these docs and so I wanted to find a solution for him before he asked me!
It just seems quite different from what Apple appear to be offering... I started this thread really to see if anyone knew the cause of this anomaly, which seems to be a fairly small bug in Pages. Anyway I think I will not get any joy trying to understand the difference between the two kinds of .doc documents (in OS9 I would have guessed it was the 8-character file signature that differed, but I don't think this works in OSX) so I will stop wasting bandwidth and set this to "answered".

Spry accordion works in template, but not pages using that template

So I added a spry accordion to one of my templates and changed the script to default closed. It works great. In the template. But not in any of the pages using that template. Basically I can see the content in the accordion on the page as if there is no accordion at all. And I can see the script and html telling me an accordion should be there. It just isn't. I can see the framework when in edit mode. But in live mode, it's like there's not there but the content.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS6.
Any thoughts?

If the template has been created properly, then the Spry files should automatically be included in the child page(s).

Scrolling Header works in Visual Studio but not on Report Server 2008

2008 R2 Reporting Services. My scrolling header works in Visual Studio but not when deployed to the Report Server and viewed in IE 9. I have read most every post on this issue and can't find a solution. I have the fixed data properties
set correctly. Any suggestions?

Hi Linda,
As a suggestion, I would try to delete the deployed version and instead of deploying ther RDL file, i would try to upload the file and test it.
If the issue exisit, then I would download the exisiting version from the reportserver and compare the xml versions of the two reports and check if the propoerty is getting over written while deploying.

Page Numbering, Word Processor

Writing a small book, using "Pages". I have a Title page, Preface, blank pages and a 2 page Introduction. No TOC. The meaningful Chapters follow, beginning on the sixth page, using facing pages. I want no page numbering until Chapter 1, then begin page 1, continuing throughout the remainder of the book.
I have tried everything per the "Pages Help", and cannot carry this out. When I try to begin numbering of Chapter 1, the numbers begin immediately following the Title page, such that Chapter 1 is page 6. I can suppress the numbering of the Title page, but the next page begins as page 2. If I manually mark Chapter 1 as page 1, all prior pages also become page 1.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

I assume, you already use section breaks (I don't know how it is called correctly in english, in german it is "Abschnitt"). So begin your Chapter with such a break and go to the inspectors "Layout" pane. There you find the options for page numbering. Mark "begin with 1" instead of "continous". And also un-check the option "same as previous" if you want the Page numbers a different Style as the pages prior.
If you do this, the cursor has to be within the section you wish to change.

Yes, I have checked the app folder and there is no imovie in there, there is also nothing in the trash.
I have also checked the HD for imovie and it seems as though it's just gone?

Why can I drag and drop from Photos to Pages, but not to Microsoft Word 2011

I'm unable, under OS X 10.10.3, to drag and drop pictures from Photo into Word for Mac 2011. I can paste from Photos into Pages. How can I add Word to the list of programs that can take pasted photos pasted from Photos

Drag and Drop support is done programmatically as part of the application design. There is no user settable configuration, or list of programs that you can add Word too. Apple has supported drag and drop in Pages for a long time, and from iPhoto or Aperture picture libraries. Microsoft chose another path.
I don't have Office for Mac 2011, but I can state that Word 15.8.1 in Office for Mac 2015 Preview does not accept drag/drop of images from Photos either. It compensates by offering Insert ▸ Pictures ▸ Photo Browser… and when selected, displays an image panel not unlike Pages offers when clicking images from its Toolbar. At the top of this Word Preview panel is the Photos logo. It is from this Photos browser panel, that Word Preview accepts drag/drop of images. It may be that way in Word in Office for Mac 2011 too.

Hello, using CS6 here.
I am currently designing a 400 page book using a fully formatted Word file. I am importing the file into InDesign and setting all of the options properly—however after chapter 4 the footnotes disappear and are no longer in the imported text.
Chapters 1 thru 2 have the footnotes imported perfectly.
Any idea why this is happening? It is very frustrating and I am on a tight deadline.
Please help!

thank you, peter. i tried that, as i do have CS2 on my computer. now there are new problems:
1. When importing the complete file into CS2 it only imports half and for some reason the rest doesn't import...
2. I tried importing the other formats into CS6 and it crashes every time, now...

CTRL-ENTER works for single word site (google) but not for two-word sites (news.google)

After typing (google) in the address bar on Firefox 7, hitting CTRL-ENTER prefixes (http://www.) and suffixes (.com) to it, but the same does not work for (news.google).
Same problem with (mail.yahoo) as well; (yahoo) by itself works fine

ICloud not syncing numbers but is syncing pages

My iPad is getting updates for documents created using pages, but not for numbers from the icloud. Any ideas?

It's not working for me at all. No matter how often or the combinations of settings between my iOS devices and my Mac, Number documents will only sync between 3 of 4 (iPad just won't load Numbers documents at all from iCloud, enabled, disabled, enabled Cellular, synced to iMac, etc). Pages and Keynote seems to work fine across all four (iMac, MacBook Air, iPhone and iPad).
And Apple is considering doing stock buybacks. Methinks they should possibly look into more programmers and debugging teams.
