Restart Message and Freezing
I started up my PowerBook today and I had logged onto the internet, when the screen glazed over and a message appeared saying that I needed to restart my computer. So I did. Then I turned it back on and nothing appeared on the screen, although I could hear the computer running. I haven't charged my powerbook due to loss of electricity because of Wilma. (but my battery meter says I have almost full battery) Could this be a result of no battery? Could this be a virus? I had just bought this computer a little over a year ago and up until now it's been wonderful! Please help.
What you experienced is a kernel panic. These usually happen due to directory, driver, or hardware related issues. Unlikely that it is virus. More likely the power manager was in the midst of trying to reset itself and couldn't because of the low battery, and something else might have needed extra power too. When you get power back, try resetting the power manager on the machine:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
And rebuilding the directory:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
If after doing these the machine does not startup, or gets another 4 languages screen, come back here, and let us know what happened so we can suggest another course of action.

I got the "You need to restart" message, and after I restarted it my macbook is stuck on the blue loading screen.
Please try to boot in safe mode. If successful, launch the Console application and look under "System Diagnostic Reports" for the most recent panic log. Select it and post the contents here.

Mac OS X 10.6 Help: If you see a blue screen at startup -
Laptop Restarts randomly and Freezes with graphic errors
Hello,
I've been having some strange issues with my computer and would like some help with determining the cause.
It will do the following:
1. Restart randomly. Screen goes dark and immediately jumps to the Toshiba screen that is seen when the system starts
2. System will freeze, leaving screen with green lines over what it was originally showing.
3. System occasionally has Blue Screen Of Death instead of number 1.
Note: Both of these errors happen regardless of the system's heat and my McAffe full scan returned no results (over 20 hours of scanning). Using the system in safe mode causes these errors to stop, I think. In doing so, I was able to complete such
a long scan when my computer was otherwise in a fit of its restarting "bouts."
System:
Toshiba Satellite L775d-S7222
Purchased 2 years ago. First error stated a year ago, second half a year ago.
Here is a link to my system and application log files for the last 24 hours. Note that I had error 1 at 7:58pm Wednesday march 12, 2014 and error 2 at 8:03 pm Wednesday march 12, 2014. From researching these problems I found that these logs would show
issues, but I am not sure how to interpolate them. Could someone help me with what they are indicating is the problem or what I need to look at that would indicate the problem?

You have quite a few issues and the log file is over 100,000 entries. It might be a good idea to clear these logs once in a while.
In my first glance at this you have two active Malware applications and that in itself can cause freezes and crashes.
They both should be removed and MSE should be used in their place. This may fix the problem. If it doesnt please clear your event viewer logs and upload the following.
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
We do need the actual DMP file as theyvcontain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here
If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

Pro 2011 getting error message and freeze? Advice please
I have a 15" macbook pro 2011. First I want to say that this is the 2nd one, the first one froze 7 times in the first 7 days I owned it and I made a appt to have it looked at and they replaced it. Now this one which is about 2 weeks old has done the same freeze 3 times in the last 2 days. All I am doing while its happening is looking online and maybe have itunes open or iphoto but not useing. Should I just try to get this replaced? Its annoying loosing info you have open especially since I have a ebay store in which I need to use everyday.
Here is a pic of the error im getting to be exact, I cant do anything when it pops up not even move the mouse, forced to hold down power button.
Thanks

G31m3-f restarts each night, freezes at Xp opening page
I'm new to the forum, so if my post is improper or needs more info just tell me. I have a G31M3-f mobo running XP SP3 with an e2180(set to 222fsb) and 2gb crucial memory. Each night the computer restarts itself and freezes at the xp loadup page(with the little scanner line at the bottom). If I manually power down, it reboots fine most times, but other times it runs a disk check. Some times the bios resets itself as to drive boot order, etc.
I have tried 3 different hard drives, cables, power supply, memory, etc. all known to be working. I have switched from S3 mode to SI mode.
Any suggestions before I RMA it?My specs are :
MSI G31M3-F motherboard
2 (2x1 gb) stick Crucial ballistic DDR2 800 ram
160 Gb Samsung SATAII hard drive
Unknown DVD burner
Intel 775 E2180 2.0 ghz
XP SP3
EVGA 8600gt 256 mb video card
600w Ultra Power Supply
It has AVG set to update at 2:22 a.m each morning. It looks like it manages to update properly each night. It also runs the AVG scan at 3:33 a.m each night and doesn't report any trouble with the scan. Thi sis for my 13 year old son, and I don't trust him to do manual updates, so the auto scan must stay on. I can change the time till 6 p.m. when we are home and see if it locks up then. -
All of a sudden I keep getting message that my computer must be restarted and it freezes. I restart it and within minutes it happens again. This is a 27 inch iMac with latest system and software. Any ideas of what is wrong and how to fix it?
10.7.5 is not the latest system, 10.8.3 is. However your message sounds like a Kernel Panic, does the message look similar to About "You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) messages? If so, then if you can get the machine to restart normally then please post the Kernel Panic Report which you can find by following directions in How to log a kernel panic. Please post back with the KP log, and we can take a look. However if the machine continues to not restart then my guess is a hardware failure suck as a hard disk or failed RAM in which case you should take it into your local Apple Store or AASP for repair.

With iOS 7 and certain apps I get a message that ask me to connect to iTunes to receive notifications. After clicking "OK", it comes back repeatedly and freezes the App: Friends, Dropbox, among others. The only way to escape is to shut down and restart. I think this is a "bug" with older apps. How can I solve it in orther to use the apps? It doesn´t occur with my iPad, only with my iPhone 5.
Thankyou for your kind answer: with Dropbox, it solved the problem; with Friends, still the same

Guess I was in the wrong place to ask question. So here it is, in PSE 11, I was downloading photos from Sony's Play Memories program, got a news Sony camera and they push this program, knew I shouldn't of used it, but to late. While downloading photos from this into PSE organizer, it gets to 49% and freezes. Must manually shut off computer to close out of Elements. A small window appears stating "closing 1 app and shutting down, this app is preventing a shutdown".
My back up is on an external hard drive, Made sure I had the back-up for I was going to uninstall PSE 11 and Sony's Play Memories then re-install PSE 11 from hard drive. Before I knew it, the back up started to down load and picked up the faulty portion from the Organizer. So now they are both useless as I see iut. Any thoughts?
gulp...As you can see below, when I right click, I have no such option. In the User Account Settings, I'm operating as the "System Administrator".
Any other suggestions? -
Sometimes when I am texting the screen freezes. I have to go out of messages and return and then I can send.
Hello mdcrab1,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
If your screen freezes sometimes when you're texting until you quit and re-launch Messages, try these troubleshooting steps first:
Restart your device and check for updates
Restart your device.
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
You can find these steps and more troubleshooting tips at this link:
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue continues, and it only happens in the Messages app, I recommend trying the rest of the steps in the above article.
If the screen freezes sometimes when you're using other apps, the steps in this article can help:
If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch - Apple Support

On my iPhone, my messages are not deleting, and freezing my phone
I've been trying to delete some of my conversations from my iphone 5, but every time that I do and close the messages app, the entire list goes blank and freezes my phone. Also, whenever I tried to send a new message the message wouldn't send. Then I restarted my phone, and opened the message app again, and all of the messages that I tried to delete showed up again. I've been trying to do this for about a month now, with no luck. I updated to the iOS 8.1.2 software update, but it still does this every time.
Is there any way to fix this? I've tried deleting the messages and then syncing my iPhone, but it still doesn't work. I'd rather not do a reset and lose all of my messages. Thanks!Have a look at this solution: There are apparently more users suffering from phantom photos that cannot be deleted: Changing the date makes the photos in "Recently deleted" visible again:
txforeverMar 5, 2015 6:38 PM Re: More photos in settings than photos app shows
Re: More photos in settings than photos app showsin response to morganfaith6
I managed to get rid of the phantom usage. Restoring iPhone and resetting the phone settings/data do not work for me.
I had to move the Date on my phone earlier by 1,2,3 months and found the phantom photos in the Recently Deleted Folder. Next, I deleted the photos manually from the Recently Deleted Folder and the usage got freed up from my iPhone.
Hope this works for you -
Firefox doesn't accept some sites and IT'S FREEZING sometimes and you can't write anything or click anywhere...reaaly disaponting, I have to restart it and after a while same thing, I can't close any tab only by options close tab so you can't use Command Q or Command R for reloading...GRRRRRrrrr, hate this
As I asked previously are you able to have tabs open as a window by using the right clicking option ?
When you close Firefox you should use
*'''Firefox button -> File -> Exit '''
Are you doing that ?
I suspect what may be happening is Firefox is hanging as it closes down.

A related possible problem is that you may have built up many copies of the restore files. These are stored in the Firefox profile. The easiest method of finding the profile location istouse
*use '''Firefox button -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information <br /> -> [Show Folder]'''
*see [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
You need to look for the files ''sessionstore.js'' and numbered duplicates of that. Delete them.

I left it running over night, it was running perfectly, in the morning the screen was black. i tried to restart it and got no display but i can hear the machine running. so i put away for several months, plug it in, charge the battery, it boots, i have a display, it loads the desktop and freezes. when i try to restart it theres no display. the last time i tried, i started it, i got to the apple screen and nothing. whats the issue here? please help.
Will it boot OK in Safe Mode? See What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392 Takes a while to run, but it usually "fixes" problems.
Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1884?viewlocale=en_US
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
