Restart message ??

My new MacBook pro keeps telling me there's a problem and that I have to hold the off button to turn it off and restart I can't do anything with it ?

"many posts of this nature" where? If you search the Discussions, you should find a number of posts (unless they've been archived off to keep the servers from clogging --- it's not censorship, it's the Discussions being too well-used for its own good sometimes) noting that the Airport Extreme card takes significantly more force to seat fully in its slot than did the original Airport card. Normally, an Extreme card not completely seated wll cause no connection or kernel panics; it sounds as if yours is unusual in that the card works without being completely seated. Try reseating ther card using more evenly and firmly applied force than you'd expect --- you should feel a distinct snap as the card moves the last millimeter or so into the socket. It shouldn't take enough force to cause the eMac to slide on your desk or table surface, but close.
If you're certain the card is fully seated in the slot but it still comes loose with use, either the card edge may be crimped or the slot itself may be splayed. That would be covered by the hardware warrenty; you can contact an Apple Service Provider to have that examined.

  • After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I get "you need to restart" messages!

After upgrading, I've gotten the "you need to restart" messages, forcing me to push down on the Power button once in a while. Sometimes I can use the computer for a whole day without getting it, but sometimes I get it 4-6 times a day. This is usually when I am using Firefox (with multiple saved tabs). I've updated the two plug-ins I have in Firefox, and I've downloaded all the software updates. Here is the error report. Can anyone please help? Thank you!

Spoke too soon. It just happened when I was buying a song from iTunes (I had just clicked on "buy this song") and the restart screen came up. But Firefox was running in the background (after I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it). Any help appreciated. Thank you! Here's the log:

  • Automatically restart messages stuck in smq2

    Hi,
I am having a problem that messages are getting stuck in the inbound queue and I need to manually restart it.
I have searched on this and have found that RSQIWKEX job can be used for this. I have tried testing it but the messages are still stuck in queue. It is having the status as SYSFAIL. Is it not possible to restart messages having this status?
The error which is there for SYSFAIL is Time Limit exceeded.
Please help me to restart such messages automatically which I am now doing manually.
    Thanks and regards,
    Siji Anup

    Hi ,
Pasting below the content of st22
The program "CL_XMS_PERSIST================CP" has exceeded the maximum
    permitted uninterrrupted
runtime and has therefore been terminated.
The system profile contains the maximum runtime of a program.
When this time limit has been exceeded, the program is terminated
to make way for other users who may be waiting.
In the case of a work area, this means that
      - endless loops (DO, WHILE, ...),
      - database accesses producing an excessively large result set,
      - database accesses without a suitable index (full table scan)
do not block the processing for too long.
The maximum runtime of a program is limited by the system profile
parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time". The current setting is 1800 seconds. After
       this limit has
been exceeded an attempt is made to interrupt the SQL statement running
or to tell the ABAP processor to interrupt the current program. A
maximum of 60 seconds is then waited. If after this time the program is
still active then the work process is restarted.
    Thanks and regards,
    Siji

  • Is dodgy firewire connection to blame for 'restart' message.

I have been getting the 'you need to restart your computer...' message in the black box, when uploading some footage to IMovie.
I need to know if it could be a software problem, the actual firewire, or like I think- the following problem:
For a while, 2 of the the pins inside the DV firewire connection point on the camcorder (Panasonic Mini-DV, about 5 years old). have been broken off to about half way. It normally works anyway but this time, after a few minutes, IMovie lost the connection. I took the cable out and put it back in- which normally does the trick, but then got the 'restart' message.
Is my computer just freaking out at the corrupt connection.
Need to know what I need to fix.
    Cheers.

It's very likely that it's your camcorder is at fault. What you're experiencing is a Kernel Panic and most KP's happen because of hardware.
I'm not sure whether or not repairing the connection in a 5yr. old camcorder is feasible due to cost or lack of parts but it might be something to check out.

  • Black Restart Message-- happening every few minutes!

A few days ago, I was browsing the web, and a faded gray screen appeared with a restart message. It says something to the effect of "You need to restart your computer. Please hold down the restart button, etc." in about four different languages. So I restart the computer. The first day this started happening, I had to restart my computer 6 times. Then it was okay for a few days. It's been doing it again though-- today, it wouldn't even let me get past the start up window with the Apple on it. My computer would PING then would need to be restarted. I really have no idea what has been going on.
I've tried resetting the PRAM, resetting the Power Manager, updating my software, disconnecting it from the internet, running Virus Scans (which I've done several times)... I even had my friend Neil, a CS major at my school, come take a look at it. I don't know what else to do, and I'm about 100 miles from the nearest Apple Store. Help?

How did the logic board break? thats unfortunate, but atleast it got fixed, right?
i had one myself, it was random last month. I was using XP and it crashed an di did a restart, im assuming i was running too much memory intensive programs and xp couldnt handle it properly, it crashed an di rebooted to xp, then it just restarted at startup and i just let it boot into macosx and then restarted onces more then i got a black screen dialog with restarting options as i checked in About ZThis mac c befor eit restarted on me again i switched the 2x512 inRIser 1 to Riser 2 and vice versaas it was only showing 1gb of ram.
im being spooked by hardware problems, the reason i switched over to MAC, as my last pc had random issues even though i was component enough to know what i was doing. hah

  • Automatically Restart messages stuck in Java Stack.

    Hi,
    1) Is there a way to restart messages in java stack automatically like in ABAP stack.
    2) Alerts are not raised when messages are stuck in Java stack, for the same interface alerts are raised when stuck in ABAP stack any reason for this?
    Thanks in Advance.

I don't know if you found already the solution for automatic restart of messages but there is a possibilty of an automatic restart.
you have to open the url: HOST:Port/pimon
    -> Configuration and Administration
    -> Adapter Engine
    -> Background Scheduling
Here you can create new jobs for restarting messages

  • Restart Message request authentication!

    hi all,
When we restart messages in sxmb_moni, XI ask me for the user and password. I thing that is becase of  we have changed some service user's password and some where we forgot change in ABAP or JAVA stack.
         Hope you can help me!

    HI,
have you checked the auth like

  • Restart Message in PI

    Hello,
We want to restart the message in adapter Engine from the rwb.
When we trying to restart the message, it is asking the username and password.
the problem is the password filed is not accepting the whole characters. ( i.e: the password field is accepting only 10 chars, where as password is actually more than 10 character.)
How can we resolve this issue
We are using SAP Pi 7.0
    Regards
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
Try with Harish suggestion and do the log in in the RWB  with a user with the requeried credentials.
    Check these roles:
    SAP_J2EE_ADMIN
    SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR
    SAP_XI_RWB_SERV_USER
i didnt remember the password length restriction in PI 7.0 to restart messages, have you tried with another browser?
    Regards.

  • Monitoring and Restarting Message interfaces using APIs

    Hello Experts,
My requirement is to monitor and restart Message interfaces from a WD Application. So i need some APIs that can be called for the same.
From RWB, we can restart and manage(view status details) of messages. Is there any way to do that from a Dynpro application.Any APIs or servlets?
    Regards

    Hi
A starting point might be to have a look at the API's:

there looks like there are some related to Messaging !
    or all the API's - http://help.sap.com/javadocs/

  • Instant "restart message" on boot

    Help guys!
My perfect MBP 15" 2.16 suddenly last night during routine email gave me the gray "You need to restart your computer" message.
I haven't had one of these in a VERY LONG time since the early days of using Parallels.
I held down the button and restarted. I get the Apple Logo then instantly I get the same restart message.
I figured, Ok... My disk is blown somehow. Being a smart traveller I carry my install CD with me. So I put that in and restart. I hold down C and it does the same thing.
I wasn't sure if C was correct so I tried it again with Option and this gave me the choice of which startup disk to use. I had: Mac OS X, Windows XP, Installation CD
I tried all three. Mac OS X and Installation CD both give the restart message before anything else happens.
Windows XP appears to boot but during the boot process as it is showing it's little back and forth progress bar it suddenly reboots again.
Any ideas? I'm on a trip and getting this going would be a HUGE thing.
    Mark

Ok... This is strange... I rebooted into single user mode, did a file system check, mounted the volume.
I was searching for instructions on how determine what kernel extension was causing the problems. I decided to just reboot.
So I typed reboot at the prompt. It rebooted perfectly and I held down CMD-V and watched the process hoping to catch the offending kernel extension and it rebooted just fine all the way into OS X!!!
Could it be that just shifting the RAM around fixed a crummy connection? Did running the hardware test twice with no errors fix something?
I'm nervous now. It's working but for how long? How do I find the root cause of the problem?
Again, Peter, Thanks for the initial help.
    Mark

  • Keep getting restart message since installing Mac OS X Lion

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro 2.3Ghz i7 and I downloaded Lion OS last night which worked fine for a few hours but when I got up this morning to wake it from sleep it briefly opened but then I recieved the black restart message with a greyed out background telling me to hold down the power button to shut down and then press the power button again to resart. I did this but all im getting is the first apple screen with spinning wheel for a moment then aload of what looks like terminal script flying down the page and then the same restart message shows again. I never get past the first white screen with the apple logo. I have a time machine so I have restored back to the last 10.6.8 backup but Im not happy. Just wondered if anyone else has had similar problems and ideas if any?

    Kate Bernard wrote:
The OP said that the computer will not awake from sleep, but did not mention any troulble with WiFi.
Are the troubleshooting steps for fixing a WiFi connection after waking from sleep relevant to a computer that fails to wake up at all?
    Perhaps.

  • How to restart Messages.app daemon

    Hello,
is it possible to restart Messages.app daemon? I cannot set online status when clicking the Messages bubble icon in the upper right corner bar. When I click Online nothing happen.

    Hi,
Messages is built on the iChat Engine.
Some Menu items and the Menu Bar icon only refer to the Buddy Lists (And their Accounts)  and not to the iMessages account.
If you have only the iMessages account Enabled in Messages > Preferences> Account then the Status Setting don't apply.
You are either Logged in (and Contacts can message you) or your are not.
If you Enable the Bonjour Account then you can use the Menu Bar icon to change it's Status.
Unfortunately in this case Restarting the Mac will do nothing.

  • "This Computer Requires Restart" Message

Lately my G4 12" has started giving me a message "you need to restart this computer". The only way to restart is to hold the power button down till shutoff. Everything else is unusable. When I restart using the power button the G4 starts back up and I get the message that the computer shut down unexpectedly and do I wish to ignore, or report the problem? Sometimes I get the restart message as I am restarting. It is very random and happens on battery, or plugged in. I can sometimes go a whole session and not see it, or it happens two or three times in a session.
Any ideas?? (I am a new mac user, former PC so I try to make everything as difficult as possible...)
    Rick

Rick, welcome to Apple Discussions & the Mac community.
You are getting what's known as a kernel panic. Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices Do you experience the same problems?
You said you maxed out the RAM. Was this done recently & did the KPs start soon thereafter. OS X is "picky" about RAM quality. I suspect your added RAM may be the culprit. Look at this link: *Testing RAM* @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
