RESTful service response using HTTP binding

Hi all,
I use a restful service and consume it using a HTTP binding adapter in my BPEL process. While sending response, the reponse is sent in xml format. But i want it just to be string. For example, i dont want the reponse to be like this "<Test>Firstname Lastname</Test>". I want it like "Firstname Lastname".
In oracle docs its given, for HTTP binding reponse, its always XML. Has anyone achieved sending response without xml tags and their namespaces?
Thanks,
Terry

Thank you for the reply
I am able to contact the same endpoint from SoapUI and also the browser. As far as I know there is no proxy that is required but I will still go ahead and ask the provider.
And do you have any clue why I am getting the error in Jdev when I compile the project?
And another thing that I would like to mention is that the WSDL that the HTTP Binding adapter created is incomplete as in it does not have the <wsdl:service> tag, is that something that I should be looking out for?
This is what my WSDL (generated by HTTP Binding Adapter) looks like

  • Force Reporting Services 2012 use https

    I have recently set up a new instance of SQL Server Reporting Services. I have it running and am in the testing phase of the deploy. I have set it up to use SSL and basic Authentication. This all works. The report writer has been able to deploy
    reports and start testing. In this testing we discovered that the menu on the left of the report manager in the data sources or reports management window will not use https. So let me explain it more.
    If you browse to a report or data source in Report Manager then highlight and click on the down arrow and choose "Manage" you will get a page with the report's or data sources' properties. It will also have a menu on the left with items
    like "Subscriptions", "Dependent items", and "Security". If I click on one of these items I get a 404 page error. I can then go to the url and simply put a 's' in the http so it read https and it will work.
    Due to security requirements I have had to block all port 80 traffic, if I open port 80 it will work. It only works as http with port 80 open. The menu url never defaults to htts.
    I have set the root url to have an https at the front. This made no change.
    I tried setting the ReportServerUrl in the c:\Program
    Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.configfile. I set it to include the https at the front as such https://DNSentry.com/reports.
    Yes I changed the url so the Reports is the Report Manager. This broke the entire Report Manager. It would give me an error of:
    The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
    I have also tried to force report portal to use https by setting the secureconnectionlevel in \c:\Program
    Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config to 2, then to 1 and it gave me an error both times.
    The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.
    If anyone knows how to force Reporting services to use https for all urls or if I am doing something wrong please let me know.

    @Diskokid I have exactly the same problem, did you find a solution yet?
    -edit- _remove the HTTP from the Web Service URL_
    That did it for me. I got an error at first but it turned out that the certificate was wrong. The
    machine was named ABACUS but could be reached using reports.company.com. I renamed the machine
    REPORTS, requested a certificate  and used that certificate to set up SSL and used the following url  as a guide to check all.

  • Using OWSM to secure Services based on http binding

    Hi,
    We are using OWSM Gateway in DMZ as a proxy server to communicate with systems beyond the firewall. We have two specific requirements:
    1) The BPEL/ESB services should invoke http POST/GET services on the third party systems which are located beyond the firewall.
    2) Third party services uses http POST/GET to access the BPEL/ESB services.
    My queries are:
    Are these possible with OWSM?
    For reqmnt 1, when we tried with OWSM we are getting the following error
    "No policies found for service "SID0003001/servletclasstest?Locality=Chennai.Make sure the service is registered correctly and gateway policies are up to date"
    Can any one help us out with solution. We are running on tight timelines any help is highly appreciated

  • JDev 11g - WSDL generation using HTTP binding - WSDL2Java

    I'm using JDev 11.1.1.3.0.  Trying to create a WSDL that uses only an HTTP binding (non-SOAP) to recreate a web service I'm trying to connect to.  My hope is to create the WSDL and use the 'Java Web Service from WSDL' tool (WSDL2Java) to create the Java client code for connecting to the web service.  (No, the author of the web service does not support SOAP. Sigh).
    First off, I do not see an option to create a straight HTTP binding using the 'WSDL Editor/Create Binding' dialog, (only SOAP11, SOAP12, Java, EJB, JCA, JMS, Custom).  So I manually created the binding based on what I could find in the w3c.  Here it is slightly modified with bogus namespaces and URL addresses:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <definitions targetNamespace="https://my.server.com/context/"
                 xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
                 xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/"
                 xmlns:tns="https://my.server.com/context/"
                 xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
                 xmlns:mime="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/mime/"
                 xmlns:types="https://my.server.com/context//types"
                 xmlns:java="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/java/"
                 xmlns:format="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/formatbinding/">
      <types>
        <xsd:schema targetNamespace="https://my.server.com/context//types"
                    elementFormDefault="qualified"/>
        <xsd:schema>
          <xsd:import schemaLocation="MyRequest.xsd" namespace="https://my.server.com/context//types"/>
        </xsd:schema>
        <xsd:schema>
          <xsd:import schemaLocation="MyResponse.xsd" namespace="https://my.server.com/context//types"/>
        </xsd:schema>
        <xsd:schema>
          <xsd:import schemaLocation="Common.xsd" namespace="https://my.server.com/context//cmn"/>
        </xsd:schema>
      </types>
      <portType name="AvailabilityServices">
        <operation name="RequestAvailability">
          <input message="tns:AvailabilityRequestMessage"/>
          <output message="tns:AvailabilityResponseMessage"/>
        </operation>
      </portType>
      <message name="AvailabilityRequestMessage">
        <part name="part" element="types:PNARequest"/>
      </message>
      <message name="AvailabilityResponseMessage">
        <part name="part" element="types:PNAResponse"/>
      </message>
      <binding name="AvailabilityServicesHTTPBinding"
               type="tns:AvailabilityServices">
        <http:binding verb="POST"/>
        <operation name="RequestAvailability">
          <http:operation location="RequestAvailability"/>
          <input>
            <mime:content type="application/xml"/>
          </input>
          <output>
            <mime:mimeXml/>
          </output>
        </operation>
      </binding>
      <service name="AvailabilityService">
        <port name="AvailabilityServicesPort"
              binding="tns:AvailabilityServicesHTTPBinding">
          <http:address location="https://my.server.com/context/"/>
        </port>
      </service>
    </definitions>
    I really don't know if the the input and output tags for the binding are correct.  I've tried <mime:mimeXml/> for both.  I basically want to just send and receive the XSD schemas as straight XML over HTTP.  Is this right?
    Secondly, when trying to generate the Java code from this WSDL, the generation fails with an IndexOutOfBoundsException:

    Anybody know how to write a WSDL with a non-SOAP HTTP binding and then generate Java from it?
    Thanks

    Okay, I'll check it out.  I know the newest version of SoapUi handles REST services (not sure if that's what I'm trying to attempt) so maybe I could 'ping' the web service using it.
    But seeing how this is a JDeveloper forum, I was hoping somebody could help me create a WSDL with HTTP bindings using the JDeveloper tool set, or at least identify if I have correctly defined the HTTP binding in my sample WSDL.  Does JDev 11g not have this functionality?

  • Difference between Direct binding ,  Web service Adapter and HTTP Binding

    Can any one help what is the differnce between
    *1) Direct binding*
    *2) Webservice Adapter*
    *3) HTTP Binding*
    I am trying to use the above service adapters as references in BPEL.
    I had invoked a web service hosted in OSB from BPEL via web service adapter and was successful
    On going through few docs came through the other two service adapters but was not able to figure out what exactly is the differnce .
    I learnt +"*Direct binding*"+ can be used to call OSB+ . How does it vary from Webservice Adapter+

    hi Eric ,
    Thanks for clarification ..
    OSB does not generate WSDL and web service adapter in BPEL mandates WSDL .
    I had to create WSDL separately and then feed into Web service adapter in BPEL to call OSB Proxy service. Though successful , felt its not an better approach.
    Please advice is there any way thatWSDL is generated in OSB itself . .if i try to create webservice on Proxy service the wsdl resulted from it has only binding and porty type .
    Is it the same case for ++Direct binding++ .I assume it should not be the case

  • RESTful service and BLOB with bind variable

    Hi,
    Has anyone successfully created a RESTful service with bind variable to retrieve a BLOB field and render it in an Apex app? I can create RESTful web service and render BLOB field for a record with no bind variable (single row). As soon as I add bind variable my RESTful service fails -- I get 404 Error. Without bind variable it renders both in TEST tool of Workspace and direct URL. As soon as I add a bind variable it fails either way. I have reported this in an SR to Oracle support, but thought I would post here too.
    I would also like to retrieve the photo into an Apex application. Any hints would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Hi Fateh -
    Good question. You would identify the source type as a Media Resource, and use an SQL statement with the primary key and the BLOB column. When you use Media Resource, you are essentially telling your Database Cloud Service not to marshall the data, just to send it - which is exactly what you are looking for.
    With this implementation, you would have to have a separate SQL call for each BLOB retrieval. However, you might be able to use a PL/SQL block as the end point for the RESTful Service and take care of multiple BLOB processing in the block.
    Hope this helps.

  • Call HTTP POST Service from SOA HTTP Binding (one - way)

    Hi All
    Why doesn't HTTP Binding support one-way Reference (It only allows request-response in outbound mode)? I need to call a one way HTTP post service from BPEL.
    How can i achieve this with HTTP-Binding. This one way HTTP POST service is on OSB. Please help!
    Thanks!

    Look at 10g samples under tutorials/702.bindings.

  • Can not set up Web Service datastore using HTTPS WSDL DS 4.1

    I have been trying to configure a Web services data store to connect to an HTTPS Wsdl file
    Here is some background.
    DS Version: 14.1.1.210
    Job Server Windows 2008
    if i configure the datastore and leave the field for Keystore path empty, i get the following error:
    Error loading [https://stgbbaaviation.taleo.net/enterprise/soap?ServiceName=CorporateRecruitmentSourceService&wsdl]:
    org.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL: https://stgbbaaviation.taleo.net/enterprise/soap?ServiceName=CorporateRecruitmentSourceService&wsdl
    If i put the path C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\ssl\mds\DSJavaKeyStore.keystore for the keystone path,
    I get the following different error:
    An error ocurred while importing metadata: WSDLException: faultCode=OTHER_ERROR: Unable to resolve imported document at 'https://stgbbaaviation.taleo.net/enterprise/soap?ServiceName=CandidateService&wsdl':javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building faild: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target (BODI-1111469) (BODI-1112446)
    I have recreated the DSJavaKeyStore.keystore and added in additional certificates but nothing seems to work.
    As a workaround i saved the wsdl file down to the local machine (I'm currently running designer on the job server machine)
    i can then save the web service datastore and import the wsdl function.  but at runtime I get the following error:
    There is no response for the web service <getMessageByIdentifier>. Ensure that the network, web server, and service are running

    Hi Prashant,
    Please refer the below KBA related to BODI-1111469 issue in SAP Data Services 4.1 Support Pack 1 Patch 1 (Version 14.1.1.284).
    ADAPT01664699
    An importing operation from a WSDL that has a recursive import of a schema would fail with the error:  "An error occurred while importing metadata: Unknown JNI error... (BODI-1111469)”. This issue has been fixed in this release.

  • Rest services using WCF

    Hi,
    Couple of doubts about wcf rest  services.
    1, how a wcf rest service call is made from a asp.net mvc or asp.net web application .
     a, What is the better way to consume in ecommerce application (where traffic is more)
    b, is it using a httpwebrequest obejct or do we need to create a proxy class , can anybody paste a snippet of the code
    consume it ore please suggest a web reference link .
    2, is the web api took over the wcf rest service role  or still it is using in industry.
    Thanks

    Hi techasuran,

    For the WCF Rest Service, we can not do the add the service reference as do in WCF SOAP Service, because the REST Service has no concept of a WSDL in WCF. Then if you want to call the WCF Rest Service from a asp.net mvc or asp.net
    web application, please try to use the HttpWebReqest, HttpClient or the Jquery to help us. In my mind the better way to consume the WCF Rest Services in the ecommerce application is to use the Jquery Ajax Calls.
    For more information, please try to refer to the following articles:

    Web API is open source an ideal platform for building REST-ful services over the .NET Framework. Unlike WCF Rest service, it use the full featues of HTTP (like URIs, request/response headers, caching, versioning, various content formats). It also supports the
    MVC features such as routing, controllers, action results, filter, model binders, IOC container or dependency injection, unit testing that makes it more simple and robust.
    For more information about the difference betwwen the WCF Rest Service and Web API and how to choose betwwen them, please try to refer to the following articles:

  • Https call using a http binding in soa

    Hi,
    I am trying to do an https call using soa suite 11g.I am using http binding for the same:
    Below is the url I am trying to call
    https://test.b2b2.rbs.gxs.com/invoke/URLTest/simpleReceive
    Below is the header which needs to be passed to the call
    <Headers>
    <Content-Type>application/HTTPstream</Content-Type>
    <actionrequest>upload</actionrequest>
    <userid>ADT00368</userid>
    <password>ADT00368</password>
    <receiverid>RBOSNL2A</receiverid>
    <datatype>XML</datatype> (optional)
    </Headers>
    I have 2 questions here
    1.I have installed the certificate from the secured site in the weblogic server.Still I am getting error "unable to access the below url"
    https://test.b2b2.rbs.gxs.com/invoke/URLTest/simpleReceive.
    2. second question is how to send the above mentioned header information in the https call?
    Regards,
    Naresh

    But while testing how will I pass the header?
    <Headers>
    <Content-Type>application/HTTPstream</Content-Type>
    <actionrequest>upload</actionrequest>
    <userid> ADT00368</userid>
    <password> ADT00368</password>
    <receiverid>ABNAMHTIN</receiverid>
    <datatype>XML</datatype>
    </Headers>

  • Error with HTTP binding - 11g

    Hi all ,
    I am getting below error while calling existing RESTful webservice from BPEL SOA composite, using HTTP Binding:
    *“null schema location for ns=null [Cause=null schema location for ns=null] at oracle.sysman.emas.model.wsmgt.WSTestModel.invokeOperation(WSTestModel.java:575)”*
    WSDL file for HTTP service is

    <wsdl:output message="tns:envelope_msg_out"/>
    </wsdl:operation>
    </wsdl:portType>
    </wsdl:definitions>
    Input schema  ( InputOutputFault.xsd) is like below: Please note it has no namespace
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xsd:element name="envelope">
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    binding in composite.xml is :
    <reference name="GetPaymentCAS" ui:wsdlLocation="GetPaymentCAS.wsdl">
    <interface.wsdl interface="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/http/HelloWorldServlet/GetPaymentCASServiceCall/GetPaymentCAS#wsdl.interface(Request_Response_ptt)"/>
    <binding.ws port="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/http/HelloWorldServlet/GetPaymentCASServiceCall/GetPaymentCAS#wsdl.endpoint(GetPaymentCAS/Request_Response_pt)"
    location="GetPaymentCAS.wsdl" supports="http">
    <property name="http.verb" type="xs:string" many="false">POST</property>
    <property name="endpointURI" type="xs:string" many="false">http://testaia:9111/CAS/servlets/PaymentServicesServlet</property>
    <property name="http.payload" type="xs:string" many="false">xml</property>
    </binding.ws>
    </reference>
    It seems like HTTP binding in 11g works with XSD with some namespace only. And if we provide the schema details in either <wsdl:types> or via “including schema in wsdl” as shown above, at runtime it still try to look for schema file.
    Any workaround/solution for same is highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
