  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from Recovery Manager.

I got my son's older HP Laptop, and decided to restore it before using it for myself.  Previously it was working OK.  An HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from the Recovery Manager.  I have tried running the recovery manager from both the HD partion and the DVD media I created.  The HD and Memory pass.  The wireless f12 key is off, and can not be turned back on from the keyboard.  Some previous post have suggested the wireless being off could be a problem.   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Hi
No that Recovery media won't work in your laptop.
ISO file can be used to clean install. You'll have to get all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop to be clearly & legibly readable for activation of ISO after install.

Download, save them to a USB and install them from there during/after Win 7 installation.
You have to first install chipset, restart system - then audio driver-restart, graphic driver- restart, ethernet controller(LAN), network controller(WLAN & Bluetooth), card reader, touchpad , Protect smart hard drive protection driver, quick launch software in order.
I could see that your model came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) pre installed.

  • After disk recovery, restoration incomplete error - error during PININST_BBV - and can't access BIOS

Hi I haad got :Ultrabook HP ENVY 6-1103el

There are 3 options, Save Log, Details, Retry. When I try 'Retry' it asks for recovery media. I've put my recovery disk 6 and disk 1 in, but nothing happens. Oddly enough, the command prompt (cmd.exe) is open at this point. Now whenever I restart the laptop it goes to the same restoration error screen with the command prompt open and minimized in the lower left hand corner.
Pressing F10 (BIOS Setup) or F11 (System Recovery) after starting doesn't do anything, it just goes straight the the Restoration Incomplete message. Pressing Esc during start goes to the Startup menu, but pressing F10 or F11 there just does the same thing. F2 System Diagnostics works. I ran quick memory check, everything passed. I ran the long hard drive check. Overall it passed, and each one passed except for optimized dst it said 'not available'. When I choose BIOS Management from Diagnostics UEFI, and try either a BIOS Update or BIOS Rollback, I get 'The selected BIOS image was not available.' My system's BIOS ID is F.23. When I try to select a BIOS Image to apply, I've clicked through the file trees and there's nothing there to choose.
I tried recovering the BIOS pressing Windows and b key when starting. The screen stayed blank and the caps lock light kept flashing but nothing happened. The screen just stayed blank and no bios update screen appeared.
Did my BIOS become corrupted during the system restoration from disk?
    Any  suggestions or options?
    Thanks.

    Hi  larag,
    Thank you for your reply.
As I stated in my original post, I suggest you contact HP support and explain in detail the events that happened, when you tried to do the recovery.  The contact information is in my original post.

  • HP Envy m6-1178sa Restoration Incomplete

My laptop came pre-installed with Windows 8, purchased October 2012.
So I was trying to restore my computer because, unfortunately, I had some annoying malware on it.
I ran the HP Recovery Manager to do a full system restore, and towards the end of the reinstallation of software, I get the message:
    "Restoration Incomplete
    The restoration did not complete.
Please select one of the following buttons:
    Save Log, Details, Retry"
I hit retry in the hopes that it might manage it the second time around.
    Nope.
After that I tried to Reset using Windows 8's options. It did complete but it wasn't right. It kind of seemed like the software wasn't reinstalled right.
I spoke to my colleagues from work and one of them suggested I tried the discs I had made after purchasing the laptop.
Unfortunately, back to square one. Restoration Incomplete.
So any help would be much appreciated! It's getting quite bothersome. I have noticed a recurring theme of "Was your machine pre-installed with 8" It makes me feel like there is some really big problem on the newest OS.

Exactly the same issue on exactly the same model of laptop, also resolved using your suggestion.  So thank you very much!

    Hi @John90 ,
Here is a link that might help. The only other thing you could try is borrowing a copy of the exact same Windows 8 version as yours.

  • Time machine restore incomplete on new hard drive?

My seagate hard drive started to fail on my 2010 27" iMac (S.M.A.R.T fault, unfortunately not covered by the recall) and I have Best Buy geek squad warranty. I also have a 2T Time Capsule with backups, so I wasnt worried about losing any data (lots of pictures and tons of movies loaded into itunes). After waiting for the local best buy to send my machine off to get the HD replaced, getting it back and re-downloading the latest OSX, I restored it from my TC. The restore took about 30 hours (~450 Gb via wifi). Once it was complete I looked at a few things and was satisfied it restored my iMac back to the way it was just before I sent it off. After closer inspection, I noticed that about 1/3 of my movies were missing from iTunes. I thought, no problem, ill just go back 1 day in the time machine and get them. I guess since my hard drive is new, it didn't treat my iMac like it is the same computer. I can't scroll back in time on the time machine, or find a way to get my missing data back. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Windows 10 update killed my laptop, P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed( restoration incomplete)

I tryed to update to windows 10, but I was in audit mode and could not, I rebooted my laptop out of audit mode and had to restore some software and settings, the restore failed and gave me this BurnBoot error.
I have already tried resetting the BIOS, changing time, putting it in legacy mode etc, still did not work, please help me!

I suggest to try performing a system recovery but set your expectation that this will remove everything that you have from your laptop and will set it up just like a brand new one again, then if you still have plans of going to WIndows 10 upgrade I strongly recommend to run all updates first through WIndows Update and HP SUpport Assistant Here's the guide to perform System Recovery http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489643 Hope this helps

  • A new twist restoration incomplete but dvd/cd player does not work

contacted virus not sure where I think swagbucks, could not fix tried to do system recovery wound up trying system recovery.  Unfortunately my cd player has never worked which was no big deal since I never use it, and of course now I need it and cant use it,
I wanted to download onto a flash drive and try that but really saw nothing in the blog that offers a solution to my problems, any suggestions?  thanks for this blog and all that contribute first time I have ever been here very intresting site.

First step is to do the troubleshooting for DVD drive.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GtKiDFp9ks
Then you may get a recovery USB from HP if the RCD doesn't work.
You can also use an external Optical drive for the recovert CD installation

Please HP answer this question as I'd love to try Windows 7 also.  P.s. never had so much trouble with a laptop!!!!  Runs hot, can't system restore, can't use the simple things I'm used to on any other laptop!!

Did my BIOS become corrupted during the system restoration from disk? I've been in contact with HP tech support and am under warranty. They said if I passed all my diagnostic tests they would send recovery disks, but I'm not sure if that will even work since I can't even get into BIOS. Should I try to restore the BIOS from a USB flash drive? Any other suggestions or options? I'll probably go ahead and have the HP recovery disks sent, just in case.
Thanks. My fourth HP laptop and the first time any of this has happened.

Try this which has worked for many. Enter BIOS and change the date to 1/01/2012. Save & Exit. Boot from Recovery Discs again and let it run throught the process. If it makes it to the first attempt to reboot- enter BIOS again and ensure date is still set. If not change it to 2012 again. If it is let boot resume.

  • How to restore a older backup with a new SIM

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem. I have a Iphone 4, which I bought with a contract in the UK. I recently went to a shop to unblock it (I live in France now)
Before I unlocked it I made a back up (i am new to this stuff) and now my phone is working with a new SIM card but when I do a back up from the Itunes, nothing comes back. I only see the apps that I downloaded in my Itunes, but no texts/emails/messages/photos. I made a newer back up/sync after that by mistake. But that wouldnt be a problem right? I can choose an older back up but it doesnt do much....
I tried it once before I dropped my phone at a shop to unlock it, and I could restore it but it took 3 hours so I cancelled. If I restore my backups now, it only takes a few seconds. So I think it is lost??
So somebody, please help me. I dont know what to do! I lost all my contacts etc...
    Please...!
    Cheers

  • How to restore a particular backup to new ipad?

My problem is that I had to have my ipad air replaced by Apple as my original ipad air developed a fault. I had backed up my original ipad to my W7 PC thru itunes before I got the new one.
Unfortunately my new ipad's name was set to be exactly the same as the original.
When I connected my new ipad to itunes, I tried to restore all the apps etc from my original ipad to my new one.
Somehow Itunes (or me) confused the ipad names and when I reid a restore backup from a computer, it didn't work. To cut a long story short, I can see the backup I want to retore in my Windows backup directory (file name is 0b68edc697a550c9b977b77cd012fa9a0557dfcb).
Can I use this file to restore to my new ipad and restore all the books, music, movies etc that were on the original ipad?

  • How do you know when icloud restore is finished

    Hello,
I am trying to restore an iCloud backup from a phone running iOS6 to an iPad with iOS7.  There is about 2.5GB of data, I believe.  The apps quickly appeared, but the mail accounts have not.  Mail just acts like a brand new setup, with no accounts.  And there are no Photos.  It's been 3 or 4 hours and nothing seems to be happening.
But in the settings it says that the backup is still being restored.
Is this true?  How can I tell if it is doing anything?  I don't know whether to tell it to stop restoring and maybe to try again,
    Thanks
    Bob
