Restoration of iPad 2 stops

Hello erverywhere,
my attempts to restore a backup to my iPad 2 (IOS6) always breaks down.
iTunes 11 (natively in german...) says something like "backup damaged or the version of the iPad you wnat to restore is not fitting..."! Argghhh!
My question: Is there a chance that this could be a bug in iTunes 11 wich occurs only when playing-back a backup made under iTunes 10.X?
Anybody experienced the same annoying problems?
Thanks to everywhere! :-)
Chris

Answering is no trouble at all. I do not have my desk Mac that I normally connect my iPad to in front of me so I will go from memory. The process is actually quite simple...it just quite a bit of time if you have a large library of songs to synchronize.
UNSYNCING
To "unsync", connect your iPad to your Mac or PC as you would normally do when "syncing". Within the dashboard on your Mac or PC you will see a tab marked "Music". Select this tab and then look for a box that is checked...I believe it says something like "Sync Music". (I am going from memory as I write this)
Uncheck this box...then look to the lower right hand portion of the dashboard to find a button that reads "Apply" and click the button. After clicking the "Apply" button look for a button that allows you to perform the "Sync" operation.
Doing this will erase your music from your iPad...but not from your library. This process takes just a few minutes.
RESYNCING
After you "Unsync" as described above, return to the dashboard on your Mac or PC, find the same tab marked "Music". Select this tab and look for the same box "Sync Music". Check this box. After checking the box, look to the lower right portion of the dashboard screen and click on the "Apply" button. After clicking the "Apply" button look for a button that allows you to perform the "Sync" operation.
This will start the process of having your Mac or PC overwrite your iPad library with a fresh/clean database of music. this process takes a long time. in my case, with more than 3,500 songs, it took about six hours.
My iPad has been working fine ever since I followed this procedure.
Hope this is clear and helps!

Just restored my iPad, today.  Now the start up Apple sign on the home screen keeps popping up.  Cannot seem to turn off the iPad, either.  How do I get this to stop, so I can use my iPad again..

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.

Once the Device is in Recovery Mode... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... after the successful Recovery... Restore from the most recent Backup...

  • When trying to restore my iPad (2?) it turns back on, also I have forgotten my password which is also stopping me from restoring it.

Okay so the battery on my iPad doesn't work, I'm not sure why but my iPad only works when it is on the charger, I have left it on the charger all day but it still stays at 1% battery. Also I'm in a bit of a pickle as I have also forgotten my password (For the iPad) and I am currently trying to restore the iPad. I have tried restoring it and it has the symbol saying "Connect to itunes" while being on iTunes and restoring/updating the software in my iPad my iPad turns back on, and then iTunes requests the password for the iPad (which i have forgotten) and it is unable to complete the update. So yes I'm not sure why the battery doesn't work, it may have been a charging problem? idk and I also have tried all the passwords I would know. I ended up locking my iPad out for 600 hours ish. Also before I had the sudden urge to use my iPad it had been unused fpr about 2-3 months. I'm unsure of the operating system, I suspect it is iOS.6.1? or earlier.
Also I have a new PC so I haven't backed it up before or synced it on the new PC, I don't really mind losing and data.

Not sure if this also helps but I think my iPad is iPad 3, I have the small charging outlet.

  • Ipad stopped working and wont restore

ipad was 50% charged and went blank, pressing buttons indicated it needed connecting to itunes, connected it to a mac with itunes , after an itunes update it said i had to restore my ipad at the loss of my media! had no choice so went for it (how many cherrished moments are being lost in this digital age - not just from this problem), anyway it then said the device was not eligible so i read the 'more info' file and tried a few things but still no luck
    Anyone had similar?

  • HT201263 I have restored my iPad (first generation without retina display) and it finishes restoring software but will not stay on for me to restore the data and then shuts off whenever I try to turn it on. I don't believe that it is charging! HELP!

Long story about what happened but basically I was using the iPad (first generation without retina display) to watch TV at one point it had 20% battery so I plugged it in then it wasn't charging and I didn't realize so it got to 5% and shut off. I plugged it in to charge it but it just kept shutting down and showing the apple logo, then briefly showing me my home screen before shutting off again. I waited a while to see if it would charge, while it continued to turn off and on by itself. Finally, I unplugged it to see if it had gotten any charge but it just told me to plug it in again. I plugged it into a different charger, same thing. I decided to try connecting it to a computer and it stopped turning on but it did not seem to charge. I tried restoring it as it said in the article. It worked until it got to restoring the iPad from the backup that I had because it immediately shutdown before I could continue. I tried to restore it a second time but still it shut down! I'm so frusturated and I cannot afford to get a new iPad, I need it for school and there is no Apple store for 80 miles nor do I have any insurance or warranty on it! (Obviously considering it's the first iPad to ever come out.) I really don't know what to do! HELP

  • Unable to restore my iPad via iTunes

    Hi guys,
I am looking for help to restore my iPad. I tried to restore my iPad via iTunes on PC in the morning, however, the process of downloading Apple software update was stopped at the last mintue as it was almost completed. iTunes popped up " Time out" and the whole process was sucked. I tried to redownload this Apple software update three times and I spent my whole moning from 8am to 3 pm , I still could not complete the downloading.
After failing to restore my iPad, my iPad still could be turned on but my ipad become garbled. I totally don't have any idea what it was going on my iPad.
I had no choice. I only could restore my iPad by settings > general > reset > erase all content and settings. Without connecting iPad to iTunes on PC, my iPad could be restored smoothly within only 10 mintues via WI-FI.
I am so frustrated on iTunes. Is there someone who can tell my why I can not restore via iTunes on PC? I haven't encountered this problem before, it only happens after Apple releasing iOS 5.
    Thanks a lot!

Have you tried disabling the antivirus during the download?

  • HT4061 How to restore my ipad after downloading itunes?

How to restore my ipad after downloading itunes?

Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
    Before restoring:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
    Back up your device.
Transfer and sync content to your computer.
    Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
    Click Restore.
After a restore, the iOS device restarts. You should then see "Slide to set up". Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
If needed, restore your device from a previous backup.
If restoring does not finish successfully or if a restore error appears, see iOS: Resolving update and restore alert messages.
    Additional Information
If your device is continually restarting, not responding, or showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, place the device into recovery mode and try restoring again.
Devices with cellular service should activate after a restore. If activation is not successfu, see the options below.
    Symptoms
Your iPhone may display one of the following messages when you attempt to activate it:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
"The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
"iTunes was unable to verify your device."
    Resolution
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to Wi-Fi if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Applefor assistance.

  • I'm trying to restore my ipad 2 ios 7.1 still getting error (9)

i'm using windows 7 and i have leatest version of itunes and my ipad 2 now in recovery mode and when i restore it to ios 7.1 i getting error (9)

    Hi BahaaMahmoud,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend this step first if you receive an error 9 when restoring your iPad:
    Configure your security software
    Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors

  • Restoring my iPad from Time Machine.

A few weeks ago my iPad screen just stopped displaying anything - the iPad worked becuase I could plug it into an external display. In my attempts to fix the problem I restored the iPad, essentially making it a new iPad, however this did not work. Miraculously, after not using it for a few weeks the screen now works - is there any way I can restore my iPad to its original glory (pre Restore) from an older version of the back up? Perhaps in Time Machine?

    Cindy 2 wrote:
I did as you suggested and my computer is running but Time machine will not back up. I tried to verify disk and got an error: filesytem verify or repair failed also incorrect number of extended attributes. Do I need to reformat it somehow?
This is for your internal HD, right?
If so, you need to repair the file system, as that can cause various other problems. Insert your Leopard Install disc and start up while holding down the "C" key. This will take a few moments. Select your language, then on the next screen select Utilities from the menubar, then +Disk Utility.+ Use that to +Repair Disk+ (not permissions) on your internal HD.
Most likely, all the errors will be repaired. If not, run it again. If they still don't repair, you've got a more serious problem.
    Then reboot normally.
Do a +Repair Disk+ on your Time Machine disk (you can use the version of DU in your Applications/Utilities folder for this one) to be sure there isn't trouble there, too.
Then try a +Back Up Now.+ If it fails, download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget from: http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/timemachinebuddy.html. It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. Copy and post the messages here (be sure to get them all, as sometimes they overflow the small window).
My partition map scheme reads guid partition table, is this correct?
I don't know, since you still haven't specified what kind of Mac you have in your profile. But if your internal HD is GUID you must have an Intel Mac, and it's correct.
