Restore a PDF file from SharePoint Content DB backup
Hi Techys,
Could you please help me for below scenario,
I have only Content DB backup of SharePoint 2010, Now i want to restore a single file(madhu_Profile.docx) from that Backup. But, How?
Let me know if you need any further information regarding the same.
Many Thanks,
Madhu
You can also attach an unattached content database and restore it from there, if the db is already within a SQL instance.

I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?
If you have been backing up on Timemachine.
All you need to do is enter time machine... Then the rest is obvious.
Find the iTunes folder and hit 'Restor'.
If not the only way to get all your iTunes music back is to enter iTunes Store.
On the right hand side you should see 'Purchased'.
Click 'purchased' and there you have it. -

Issues opening PDF files from SharePoint document library reader/pro 11.0.5
Hello,
We have a sharepoint 2010 enviroment and recently upgraded our Acrobat X11 installs ( both reader/std/pro) to version 11.0.5.
We have a mixture of WIndows 7 32/64Bit IE 8 and IE 9 machines
After upgrading to 11.0.5 when users click a pdf file in a SP document libary one of two things happens depending if they have the
Adobe Reader Plugin Enabled or not
If the Adobe Reader Plugin is enabled, they will not get prompted to run/save the pdf file and it will not open in a new tab in the browser
If the Adobe Reader Plugin is disabled, they will get a popup window that has the correct URL to the PDF in the address bar but they will not be prompted to save or run the file.
If they click in the addrss bar and press enter the pdf will then load in the external reader/acrobat application.
This issue started with 11.0.5 updates, rolling people back to 11.0.4 fixes the issue.
I have attempted everything I can think of including rebuilding new machines with our image.
Has anyone see issues like this with the 11.0.5 update?If a bug is confirmed, a fix may be delivered in the next release (can't promise). For a similar issue caused by a Microsoft bug, see http://forums.adobe.com/message/6106294#6106294.

How to restore all Logic files from a Time Machine backup
Hello-
I recently had to clear all of the memory on my laptop, in order to free up some room. It was running very slow, and I had far too much clutter on there. I have a MacBook, and back everything up on Time Capsule, so I've spent the past couple of days individually retrieving all of the files that I want on my computer. I naively thought that I could click on the Logic Pro application from a previous backup, but failed to realize that I have to find the drivers and other components that make up the software. Where can I locate all of these files, and how would you recommend going about restoring all of my projects, drivers, etc.? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.Smart mailboxes are not a storage location, they are just a kind of saved search. There's not really anything to restore if you can't restore the messages.
As to your difficulty restoring mail, see the [Time Machine FAQ|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1964018] and [Time Machine Troubleshooting|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2057525] guides. Also, try posting on the TM forums for better help. -
How to I restore missing StickiesDatabase file from Time Machine?
I have looked all over for a solution to this. Basically, I am trying to restore a stickiesdatabase file from a Time Machine backup. I put in a new HD and am slowly pulling files over in pieces. The thing is, the backup that had the stickies I want to restore did not seem to back that file up. I navigated to user/library to find StickiesDatabase, and it is not there, even though I went into the terminal and unhid invisible folders and files (other greyed out invisibles showed up so I know it worked). But here's the weird thing, when looking on my current hard drive, I could find that file for my new, empty stickies just fine. Also, I went further to a Time Machine backup from a year ago, and I found the stickiesdatabase file in the library as well. It's like these last two backups I did that had the stickies I want did not include that file in the backup. Any thoughts? Am I doomed? Oh, and I am currently on Mavericks and the backup in question was also Mavericks. And I have a 2008 Macbook Pro if that info is helpful.
There is another, huge thread on TM backups on this forum and exactly this issue has come up. Sadly, no one has a perfect answer. I do not have a spare drive available to test this myself, but I would try something along these lines.
-- Ask TM to restore your full Library and the Masters, if Referenced. I believe that TM will give you the option to not overwriting your current Library, but be careful. However you do, stick this "Recovery Library" out somewhere. (Yes, this is gonna take some time, run it overnight.)
-- Open "Recovery" with Aperture and select the Project(s) that contain the images you want. Export these "Projects as New Library." (Don't export as either Versions or Masters.) I would select the box "Consolidate Masters" and I would probably discard the Previews. Stick this somewhere.
-- Now open "Original Library" and import the "Library" that you exported back into your Original Library as something like "Stupid Lost Project."
-- You should now have a Project full of adjusted, and adjustable images. (N.B. this is basically the technique I use with my laptop. I shoot, load into AP3 on the laptop, noodle, and then export/import into AP3 on the MacPro when I get home.)
-- Clean up. (Delete "Recovery", convert the recovered Project back to Referenced Masters, if you wish, etc.)
One good argument for never throwing those old USB drives away.
I have missed some of the details in the process, so be careful, but I believe that this will work until Apple lets us run Aperture inside Time Machine.
Best wishes. -
I have a customer that is using Adobe Acrobat pro version 10.1. When they try and open a .pdf file from a SharePoint site, the user is prompted to check out and open the file or open the file. Is there a way to get Adobe Acrobat to open the .pdf file without prompting to check out or open?
Thanks
JimThis is mostly a lion thing, rather than a PSE thing. To disable applications opening where they left off last time for all the programs on your computer, go to system preferences>general and untick this box:
You can also do on a per-program basis, but it's more complicated and the best thing to do is to search around for directions on the web and see which way is least uncomfortable for you.
There's an odd little glitch in PSE that it opens the last image you had open, even if you closed it before quitting last time. Adobe says this is correct behavior, but of course it isn't. -

Hi Team,
I am trying to move the .pdf files from drop-off library to custom library.
For the above requirement i am writing content organizer rule condition like (On Group: Document content types & Type: Document)
Property: Name
Operator: Ends with
value: .pdf
and Setting value in target location like
/sites/MS/ProductGuides
How to solve the issue
If help appriciated
Regards,
DhayaHi Dhaya,
I created a Content Organizer rule like this:
When uploading a .pdf file to the Drop Off library, it is moved to the destination library immediately:
I suggest you create a similar rule as above for another test to see if the issue still persists.
Thanks

Corrupted content error when trying to download .pdf file from one website.
Unable to download .pdf file from a website, but IE8 provided the download without hesitation.
Both v7 and v8 produced the same message:
"Corrupted content error"
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected.
This may be a particular website problem, or it may be common to the particular industry segment and their protocols.
I have followed the help leads and examined the profile for Firefox as used in this instance. Nothing untoward seemed to pop out as a causal factor.Reworked some of the javascript for our webserver and fixed the problem.

How do I retrieve a deleted PDF file from Adobe Reader on iPad?
I inadvertently deleted a very important PDF file from the Adobe Reader on iPad. Does anyone know what I can do to retrieve it? A reply would be highly appreciated!
needhelp74328262,
Unfortunately, once a file is deleted, you won't be able to "undelete" it.
Have you backed up your iPad using iCloud or iTunes recently? If so, you can restore the entire content (not just a single PDF file) on your iPad.

Adobe 8 - Unexpected Corrupt or incorrect file type warning when viewing a PDF file from the Web
Hi,
On downloading a PDF file from my web site using Adobe 8 on the client machine I expect the file to open automatically however I receive encounter the "File Download" dialog. It has the following warning message: "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program. It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type. As a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download."
This issue did not occur within previously tested versions of Adobe Reader (e.g. Version 5.1).
On investigating the issue I discovered the factor that results in Adobe 8 failing to open the file automatically is the Content-Type = "application/pdf; Charset=utf-8". However, if I intercept the response and alter the Content-Type to contain only "application/pdf;" the issue on Adobe 8 does not occur.
I have even tested when the Content-Type contains an empty Charset (i.e. "application/pdf; Charset=") but this issue still occurs. In addition setting the Charset to other encodings (e.g. "ISO-LATIN-7", "iso-8859-1") the issue occurs.
QUESTION(s):
1. Why is it necessary for Adobe 8 when opening PDF files from the web to expect no Charset within the Content-Type?
2. If this was not an issue within previous versions of Adobe surly this is a bug?
Since I cannot ensure that the Response's Content-Type does not contain a Charset at all please can someone suggest either a work-around or more importantly a solution to the issue?
Please Note:-
1. Within Adobe, Edit -> Preferences -> Internet option it's compulsory for our users to have "Display PDF in browser" ticked!
2. We cannot prevent a Charset from being present within the Content-Type of the response sent to the client, hence this issue.
Many Thanks in advance,
Martin.Bill,
This is exactly the same behavior I observed when I rendered a PDF stored in a database through a .NET page. If I chose to save it, it would open fine after the save, but if I chose to open it in the browser without saving it, I would get the error.
The problem was not with the PDF or Acrobat. It was with the way I was delivering the PDF. Putting the following code before my binarywrite fixed the issue completely:
Response.ClearHeaders()
Response.ClearContent()
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + saveFilename)
where saveFileName is the name you want to give the PDF.
You can use 'inline' instead of 'attachment' above if you just want the PDF to open (no option to save first). You can also use 'pdf' instead of 'octet-stream' (not sure the difference).
The trouble seems to be that .NET puts some info in the header and/or content by default prior to anything your code says to write. If you don't clear this, IE has an issue with it. Other browsers seem to ignore it.
Bottomline is that this is an issue the website programmer needs to fix and is not something the user can fix by changing some setting(s).
I hope this helps. -

public static void dumpPart(Part p) throws Exception {
// if (p instanceof Message) dumpEnvelope((Message)p);

Object o = p.getContent();
if (o instanceof String) {

Multipart mp = (Multipart)o;
int count = mp.getCount();

System.out.println("CONTENT-TYPE: " + p.getContentType());
dumpPart(mp.getBodyPart(i));
} else if (o instanceof InputStream) {
System.out.println("This is just an input stream");
InputStream is = (InputStream)o;
String filename=System.currentTimeMillis()+".exe ";
FileOutputStream fos=new FileOutputStream(filename);
int c;
while ((c = is.read()) != -1)
//System.out.write(c);
fos.write((char)c);
}//dumpPart
what's wrong with this code?
Nagaraju.Gfos.write((char)c);Converting the byte to a char is unnecessary and probably harmful. Just do this: fos.write(c);
