Restore album art from saved itunes or combine 2 itunes libraries

I have two laptops, each with the same version of iTunes ( 11.2.0 ) but with different albums. There are no duplicates between the libraries. I can save and restore a single iTunes library with no problems. I get all the albums and all the cover art. All the albums have the correct cover art. I would like to combine these two libraries on a single laptop. The laptops are running windows 7. I can take a smaller iTunes library with 39 albums and drag and drop to the larger library ( over 1000 albums ) I get all the albums, but only half or so of the album's cover art comes across. I have tried to drag and drop the entire iTunes library, then I tried to add folders to the larger library, all with the same result - all the albums come across, but only half of the album art comes across. ( I am working with a small library right now because I want to do this with another library with over 500 albums. )
A lot of the cover art was added one by one, because the 'get album art' could not find a lot of the cover art. I can go back and manually add all the cover art again, but that is a long project.
Is there a method that I can save the library, add it to a different iTunes library, and get all the cover art to come with the albums?
This seems like it should be easy to do, but I have not been able to get it keep all the cover art from the transfered library.
thank you.

i'm using iTunes 10 BTW

  • Getting album art from iTunes Store...

I have an extensive music library on an external HD, but most songs are/were in 'wma' format. On loading iTunes, it spent 36 hours converting these to AAC (m4a) format, but it didn't bring the album art over. Now I have a perfect music collection, doubled in size, which I can view in Windows Media Player (with all the album art) or in iTunes (without any album art).
Unfortunately, we who live in South Africa are not allowed to download album art from the iTunes Store, so I cannot restore the artwork...and every time I try to access the Store from inside iTunes, it bombs out - but I can access the iTunes site on any normal web browser (usually Mozilla).
    So what now???

Sorry, but as you've discovered, you cannot get album art from the iTunes Store without an account, and being a South African resident, there's no way for you to open an account. There are, however, many other ways of getting album art. Just search the web for something like "iTunes album art" and you should find a number of utilities, suggestions for sources and instructions on how to proceed.
    Regards.

  • ITunes 9.0.2 rejects album art from Safari drag source

When editing audio tracks in iTunes 9.0.2 (25), I find that I can no longer directly drag and drop album art from remote Internet-based source in Safari into the album art space when I get info on tracks. The drag and drop operation signals that it receptive to the drop action by displaying a target rectangle around the album art space, but the album art refuses to copy to the files. The workaround is to drag the image file from Safari to the Finder desktop, then drag it from the desktop to the album art spot in iTunes.
Can anyone else confirm this bug?

This is the post I did a few days back:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2215713&tstart=0
Roy B suggested you can drag the artwork from Safari directly to the lower left corner of the main iTunes window. There are two inconvenience problems:
    (1) You have to be playing the song in order to drag the artwork.
    (2) Because it si located in the lower left, I always have to move iTunes window over in order to drag the artwork from Safari.

  • Determining what metadata will get specific album art from iTunes Store

How can I determine what metadata will get specific album art from the iTunes Store?
e.g., I have some tracks with correct metadata for the album "International Herb" by the band "Culture".  This album is listed under the same artist & title in the iTunes Store, but getting the album art for these tracks results in an Artwork for "Culture - International Herb" could not be found warning message.
Alternatively, is there some function where I can apply the album art for the album that I am currently viewing in the iTunes Store to tracks selected in iTunes?  (if this feature doesn't exist, it would be great if Apple added it)
    Thanks.

I always thought it was just Artist + Album, but if the tracks are out of order or the durations are too different, it is possible that it is seeing it as a different version = no match.
It will be faster to find the image from another source (thanks web search) and just drag or paste it into the Album Info panel.

  • Update embedded Album Art from iTunes Store?

Missing Album Art is automatically added to my iTunes library. Excellent!
But I have a large number of albums/songs with embedded album art of low quality (200x200). Is there a way to update these without having to manually delete the old Album Art for each song individually?
Is there a way to embed the album art from iTunes into the mp3-files instead of storing them externally (in the iTunes Album Art directory?) Probably not........

Is there a way to update these without having to manually delete the old Album Art for each song individually?
Well, you don't have to do it individually -- you can select all the songs for which you want to delete, right-click and select "Get Info", then check the Artwork box, then click OK. This will delete all the artwork for those songs (permanently!)
Is there a way to embed the album art from iTunes into the mp3-files instead of storing them externally (in the iTunes Album Art directory?)
I have a script to do just that. You have to download it first (say, to your Desktop)
    http://teridon.googlepages.com/itunesinsertartwork.vbs
Then you have to run it using the Command Prompt:
    1) Bring up a command prompt (Start..All Programs..Accessories..Command Prompt)
    2) Enter these commands:<pre>cd Desktop
    cscript itunesinsertartwork.vbs</pre>
    3) Select the playlist (or select the whole Library with "1") which contains the songs for which you want to embed the artwork.
NOTE:Embedding artwork will cause your files to take up more hard drive space because for downloaded artwork iTunes only needs one copy. Embedding the artwork makes a copy of the artwork for every song with that artwork. Artwork files from the iTMS are typically 400-500 KB each.

  • IPhone album art from iTunes not downloading

Recently, I have not been able to get my album art from iTunes to download to my phone. It appears in my iTunes on my computer, but will not transfer. It also will not appear on my phone when I purchase the music FROM my phone, but appears in my computer's iTunes. I've reset my phone, but the problem continues. This problem has only been happening for about the last two months and I've had my phone over a year. (iPhone 4, Verizon)

the album covers are fine on itunes on my computer, but on my iphone they don't work. as in, when I sync my iphone to itunes, it switches the covers around to different covers. it seems to be random.

  • Transferring Album Art from a Mac to a Windows PC

I have iTunes on both my Mac and Windows PC- with the same library on both.
I found a great utility called Curator that found all my missing album art on the Mac, but it only works on the Mac, not the PC
So after spending a day finding all my missing album art on the Mac, I thought that simply copying the Album Art folder from my Mac to my Windows PC would enable me see all my art on my windows machine.
This did not work. I still have the same missing album covers.
I tried removing all Album Art from my PC (by selecting "Clear Downloaded Artwork" and then I selected all my music and chose "Get Album Artwork".
This put back all my original album art but none of the new artwork downloaded by Curator.
Does anyone know how to get iTunes to see all the Album Art in the Album art folder that I just copied from my Mac?

Diane is correct — the artwork you downloaded is embedded in the music files, so the only way to transfer the art is by transferring the files. Is there a reason you don't want to just copy your entire iTunes library from the Mac to the PC?
I don't know why dragging the artwork into the artwork box would result in a lower-quality image. What do you see when you click on the artwork box to open a full-size version? Is the picture 300x300 or better?

  • Album art from other countries?

    Hi,
I have a lot of Britpop albums that aren't recognized by iTunes in America, but are recognized by iTunes UK. Is there any way I can download the album art from iTunes UK?

    Get it from http://www.amazon.co.uk/
Find the album you want. Copy the album cover and paste it into your iTunes as Diane described.

  • Why is the album art from our iTunesU site not downloading with the content?

Recently, the album art from our iTunes U site has not been downloading with the content. We have tried downloading content from other pages and we get the album art, but when we download out own content the album art does not download with the files. The art appears in the iTunes store so there should not be a problem with the files.  Any idea why this is happening? Here is the link to the iTunes U page for your information.http://itunes.apple.com/gb/institution/university-of-london/id422825754

If u buy a song off itunes it shows the album art but if u put a cd on itunes is there neway to get the album art from the cd?
The other posters gave good information, but didn't answer your basic question: No, you can't get the album art from the CD because it isn't there. A CD usually only contains the .cda files. Some CDs also have computer programs on them, but this is rare.

  • Removing Album Art From Zen V P

This being my first portable media player I've been experimenting. I managed to add some album art for one album via Creative Media Explorer. I think the full screen picture is good but I don't like the miniature picture which seems the default on the Now Playing Screen. It pushes too much text off-screen. I guess there's no way to remove the mini-picture and just retain the possibility of keeping the full screen picture. Also, I can't find a way to remove the album art. Media Explorer doesn't seem to offer this option. How can I get rid of the Album Art. Do I have to delete the whole album from the player and reimport it's
    Thanks,
    ZP

There's no way that I know of to remove album art from files on your player, but one of the easiest ways to remove art from files on your pc is to use Album Cover Art Downloader. You can have it located a folder and then select all and removae album art from all your files. Then you can re-transfer them back to the player.

  • Removing album art from X-fi2

    Hi,
Anyone know how to remove album art from the X-fi2? I've got a lot of wrongly-associated art and I'd like to delete it: there isn't any art for the tracks I want to change.
I've tried Centrale, but the art does not show up in either album or artists listings--just the generic album icon. Nor can I get it under the tag editing properties: just the generic icon again. The "change" option is available in both cases, but "remove" is greyed out.
I can see the art using WMP, but that doesn't seem to have an option for removing it.
    Thanks.

!Album art can be either embedded on audio files or stored on a jpeg file on the same directory where music files reside. Never used Creative Centrale, but it is logical to me thinking that a greyed out "remove button" means that the art is not embedded as it cannot be removed from the audio files. I would suggest looking for a *.jpg file that contains the album art and remove or rename it.

  • Can I restore a playlist from my iPhone back into iTunes?

My playlist disapeared from iTunes, but it is still in my iPhone.  Is there any way to restore my playlist from my iphone back into iTunes?

iTunes is designed to 'sync' onto iPods, NOT the other way 'round. In order to copy content from an iPod back onto a computer, it requires a third-party utility (if you Google 'iTunes alternatives' you'll see many possible options]. Most of them are free.

  • Pulling album art from PC to itunes

is there a manual way (or even better automatic) of pulling the album artwork from my PC music library files to itunes? after having converted my entire PC music library, I am lacking most album art covers...i do have an itunes account but it did not update many covers either...help appreciated.

Yes, there's a manual way. Select the whole album in your iTunes library. Make sure the artwork box is visible (Ctrl-G) in the lower left corner. Drag a JPEG from somewhere else on your PC or from a website over to the artwork box. ITunes will apply that artwork to every file selected. To save file space, I think if you apply it only to the first track it will still show up for all tracks of the album. This way every file won't have the JPEG embedded; only the first file will.
I've read in Discussions about third-party utilities that automates this process, but I don't remember any names, and it is bound to make the same kind of mismatching mistakes that iTunes' built-in feature makes.
