Restore app data

I have Ipod Touch 5th Gen with IOS7. iCloud is my backup. Is there a way I can restore app data to a single app rather then reset and restore the device completely.

Unfortunately not.

  • Backing up and restoring app data of an App World (BlackBerry World) app

I'd like to do a security wipe on my old Bold 9700 and then reinstall/restore an App World (BlackBerry World) app that I purchased with the same BlackBerry ID.
    1. Can I reinstall an app via App World after a security wipe?
    2. WIll the app data (e.g. game scores) be restored?
    3. I did a full back up with BDS7, if reinstalling the app on a security wiped phone does not reinstate the app data, can I retrieve the app data by restoring the app from the backup?
    4. What about copying the .rem files of the App World folder of the app to my computer, reinstalling the app via App World and then copying the .rem files back to the Blackberry? Or is there another location I should look for the app data?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To re-install your apps, please see this KB:

That I'm not sure of...it likely depends on how the scores are stored. If they are stored on the device, then it might be able to re-obtain that information after you reinstall the app. Likewise, if they are stored on some server somewhere, it might be able to do so. But there's really no way for anyone but the app developer to know for sure. If I were you, I'd prepare myself for those being lost as a result of this activity.

Maybe -- again, it depends on how the app works, which only the app developer can say. Some apps store data in AppMemory (which is what gets backed up), others store their data in Device or Media Card Memory (which is not necessarily backed up). And it may well be moot anyway, depending on how the developer coded the app.

Same issue...it all depends on how the developer coded the app. If the coded it to ignore any stored data anywhere each time the app is installed, then you can't force it to read anything, regardless of where you might restore it to. But, again, only the developer of the app can tell you what will happen in these circumstances.
    Cheers!

  • How to restore app data?

Can anybody tell me, whether / how I can restore the data / configuration of an iPhone app (on the 3GS)?
More specifically, I've got a shopping app (ShopShop) on my iPhone.
I have carefully created a long shopping list.
    Accidentally, it is now deranged.
So I'd like to restore the state.
Is there any way to do it?
(I am familiar with Unix, so a bunch of Terminal commands would be fine.)
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

3rd party data is stored in the backup, so one way would be restoring from a backup, if you're using Time Machine it should be no problem, but you can't select just on app to restore, it's all or nothing.
Another way would be using this software here http://supercrazyawesome.com/ and see what you can do.

  • HT1414 will restore also restore app data?

Recently several of my apps got deleted. I'vr reinstalled most but some are missing their data. Will a device restore also restore my app data?

App data is saved int eh backup that iTunes makes at the beginning of every USB sync. If you restore from backup your app data will be retained/restored also provided that the app are alsi in your iTunes library.
I do not understand what Fiona Felicity said by: "Yes they will restore unless they are saved in itunes> apps."
Abb data is saved in the backup, not with the ap in the iTunes App library.

  • HT4859 Does iCloud restore app data?

When I backup an iOS 5.1.1 device with iCloud and I restore it will I get my app data back( such as a game highscore)?

Only for those apps that you turned on in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  (All this on the device whose backup you want to configure.)

  • Help! Lost iPhone 4 - Trying to restore apps & data to old iPhone 3

Can anyone tell me what to do in easy to follow steps, I am not very good with technical stuff!
I lost my iPhone 4 two days ago. Luckily I had backed it up on my computer the day before. I still have my old iPhone 3 and would like to restore some of my apps and their data to my old iPhone 3. I had a 32gb iPhone 4 and only have an 8gb iPhone 3, so can't do a restore of everything.
Is there an easy way to do this? I have downloaded iPhone Backup Extractor, which I thought would help, but don't know what to do once I have extracted the application? How do I get this back onto my iPhone?
Any help would be gratefully received!
    Thank you

Thanks for your reply, but it does seem possible to do it bit by bit if I use this piece of software. I have managed to locate all my photos and sound recordings using back up extractor. However I would like to restore my apps and their data. I just don't know how to do this.
I can extract the files for each app individually, so for example Angry Birds, I have a documents and a library folder. The library folder has cookies and preferences, the documents folder has lots of files for example, 2010-12-01.lua which I am guessing are for each of the levels I have done completed. How can I get these back on the phone?

  • How can I restore 3rd party app data from my backup in the cloud

First a brief history. I use the iCloud to backup my iPad 2 and hardly ever synch it to itunes on my computer. I got the new iPad and restored the backup of my iPad 2 onto it.  All was fine except that an issue I had on my iPad 2's Safari had transferred over to my new iPad. That's is for another discussion. Anyhow I went to the genius bar and they said to just setup my new iPad as a new device and then manually install everything back on it. Stuff like mail, contacts, etc, would be reloaded from the cloud. So I did and I noticed that one of my 3rd party apps, MadPad, had none of my saved data. Does anyone know of a way to restore 3rd party app data from the iCloud? Is there some sort of utility out there that would do this?  I don't want to restore it from my previous iPad 2 backup because it will reintroduce the Safari problem back onto my new iPad.
    Thanks!

Assuming that you even have a backup with the data in it, you have no choice but to use a backup in order to restore that data. That is the idea behind backing up to iCloud. If that is the only backup that you have - then that is the one that you have to use.
But if the backup is bad - or had corrupt data - then you will end up with the corrupt data again. You cannot selectively restore app data from a backup. you restore all settings and data - or nothing at all.

  • Tried to transfer all my data to iPhone 5 from iPhone 3GS lost my email and app data?  Do you why and how I can fix this?

    Hi...
Tried to transfer all my data to iPhone 5 from iPhone 3GS lost ONLY my email and app data?  But weird thing is, its still on my old phone!!!
Do you know why and how I can fix this?
    Shelley

How did you "try" to transfer this data? The only way to restore App data is by restoring from a backup that contains the App data, then syncing the Apps back to the phone. Emails are not included in any iPhone backup, only account settings.

  • How does apple Configurator Backup App data? Or does it at all?

    Hello,
I use Apple Configurator at two schools. All of the iPads that the schools own are supervised via Apple Configurator.
How does the backup feature work in Apple Configurator? I know it backs up folders and photos and videos. But does it backup app data? And how?
I understand that apps themselves are not backed up. But if an iPad is completely wiped / restored via apple configurator / apps are put back on / then backup is restored.... when does the app data get re-applied (if it does at all?)
    Mac OS 10.9.4
    Apple Configurator Version 1.5 (424)
I know iTunes can backup and restore app data. My question is does Apple Configurator do it? And how / what is the best way?
    Thank you.

When you boot yoru iMac, if you hold down the option key, at the boot meny, do you have an option for "Network" booting  If so, then your machine didn't come with an install disc, it allows for internet restore form Apple servers (although it will need to perform the 4.7GB download if you use it).
If you run the Boot Camp Assistant, you should be presented with an option to download the windows support files from Apple servers.  For machines which didn't come with install/restore discs, this is the way to get the files you need.

  • HT1414 I have had to restore my ipad to factory settings and then tried to restore the data from the backup on itunes, but none of my apps have restored - please can anyone help as my daughter is going to go mad if I can't get her games back to where they

I have had to restore my ipad to factory settings, having made a backup on my pc first. When Ihave tried to restore from my pc I have no apps!! Please can anyone help me get them back with all their data. I don't have wifi at home and I have never been able to sync my pc with my ipad, although it works with my iphone! I copied all of the apps before I restored using itunes, but no idea where they are copied to. Any help would be hugely appreciated to get my daughters games back. Thank you in advance )

    Hi Skydiver119
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my problem.
Yes the purchases were made though my apple id.
I have looked at a few other questions on this topic and I have read that the app data is stored in the backup file but the apps themselves need to be synced back onto the ipad. Someome has mentioned right clicking on sync my ipad but I don't know where to find that to right click on!! Lol.
Again, I really appreciate your time and if by any chance you know where I can 'right click' I would really appreciate you letting me know as I can't get my ipad to sync with my pc at all, although it is being picked up in itunes and it has backed up to itunes okay. GGrrr. Maybe I have something wrong in the settings which is not making them compatible?

I guess I will wrap this up. I have abandoned iPhoto and viewing my Photo Streams using it and moved to Adobe products (Bridge + PS). So that's that.

  • Restoring Apps AND Data back to "New" iPhone

I just got an iPhone 3GS a few weeks ago and, since I'd been using an iPod Touch for a year, I simply transferred over that data to my new iPhone using "restore from backup." Somewhere along the way I was also prompted to upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2. However, the whole time I've been using my iPhone it's been freezing up a bit, responding sluggishly (sometimes taking a few seconds), or refusing to send mail even when it has perfect reception. I'm getting sick of this and it seems pointless.
I DO have a lot of apps, but I doubt that's really the problem. I am thinking I should finally bite the bullet and wipe the phone, restore and set up as a "new iPhone." But I'm very worried I won't be able to get back my Application DATA-- all that juicy stuff I have stored in my budget apps, databases, etc. Is there any way to restore my iPhone to factory settings and then reinstall these apps including all their data, but without dragging whatever might be corrupt and slowing things down?

OK, thanks for the quick reply, that's quite helpful. Just to clarify, then: Do you think it would mean anything then to do a restore of my iPhone to factory settings and then reimport from the previous backup? Would it reset anything or would it basically end up reproducing the iPhone as it was before I started the process?
If it's not going to do anything to improve the situation, I guess there's no point in doing it that way, and maybe I should try some Genius Bar help or just sacrificing some app data in order to get the iPhone up to speed first for ongoing use.

  • I restored my iPod touch, but was unable to restore my data from a backup, so I synced it and now all of the data from my apps has gone, and so have in app purchases. Is there anything I can do to get them back?

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to get my app data back? All levels completed on games have been erased, and I am unable to use in app purchases which I did purchase, such as the Mighty Eagle in Angry Birds. Thanks for your help

Go to the Device tab in iTunes' Preferences and se what the date iis of the backup(s).  Apple only retaines the latest backup unless you restor from a backup and that one is also kept.

  • HT4859 How can I verify that my App data is actually stored in iCloud. With Dropbox, I can actually see my stored files. With iCloud, itseems I'm supposed 2 just trust that Appl has the data. Short of doing a restore is there no way to check the data?

How can I verify that my App data is actually stored in the iCloud. I can see and access my notebook, contacts etc. on the iCloud website, and I can see my photos in a folder on my Windows-based desktop compter (iCloud/Photostream). But no app data.
With Dropbox, I can actually see all of my stored files. With iCloud, it seems, I'm supposed to just trust that Apple has my back. Short of deliberately trashing my app data and then attempting a restore, is there no way to check the data?

You can't access them on Windows (unless you have iCloud enabled Windows programs) and I don't think any are, yet.
iCloud data is accessed via Apps/Programs, the Windows programs vendors will have to step up (just to make it worse Microsoft have not yet enabled their Mac programs, such as Office yet) I doubt that iCloud access is much of a priority for them, complain to MS, when enough Windows users complain maybe they'll do something.
