Hi all. I recently reinstalled Mountain Lion and did a clean build of my machine in the hope that it would get rid of the spinning ball, (It didn't), but now I have lost my game saves for a couple of Mac app store titles. I have a Time Machine backup and wondered if there was any way I could restore them from this?

How to restore App Store on 10.7.5 ?

I've damaged the App Store and now it doesn't work. I believe I did it by deleting the languages that I didn't use on my mac. And probably I did something wrong.

I thought that it was with Mt Lion that one needed to reinstall the OS X, but that with Lion all that was necessary was to install the last update combo and it would install a new version of the App Store app. OCICBW
But before you do something so drastic as use OS X Recovery, try this;
If you have the App Store app and it isn't working drag & drop it in the Trash. Then download and install the 10.7.5 Update Combo.

If you mean that you can't find the App Store app on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'off' ? If it is hidden then unhide it and the app should then appear on your iPad's homescreen, and you can then re-download your apps via the Purchased tab in it.

None of my App Store games have sound on Mac Pro?

None of my App Store games have sound on Mac Pro, although all of the sound coming out of my computer works. Any hints?

Lost some app and game data when restoring iPad 1 backup to iPad 2

Very disappointingly, when I restored my iPad 1 backup to my iPad 2, I lost some but not all apps and games save data etc.
Some of that stuff took hours!
Any way of recovering it? Why would it affect some and not others, I wonder.

The same thing happened to me. All apps loaded (though I lost my folders), but not of the data. I was almost done with Angry Birds, and now I'm back at square one. ggrrrrr....

My Mac App Store game keeps shutting down

I downloaded the game Evac last night from the Mac App Store. Its a kind of Pacman clone just more "modern" and "puzzly".
I absolutely loved it, but today it wont start. It asks me whether or not to "Restore windows" like it crashed or something last time i used it. I don't think it did, but anyway I've tried restarting several times, deleting it, re-downloading it, etc. and still it keeps asking me if I want to restore windows.
I havent changed a thing on my computer since yesterday.
I cant find any help about it anywhere - the gamecompany's website contains no help at all.
I am wondering if there's a preferences file somewhere that i can delete to stop it from saying this restore windows thing.
I've have looked in the preferences folder under ~/library and there is no pref file that even slightly sounds like Evac or Hexage as the company is called.
Somebody Heeelp...
PS. everything is up-to-date on my MBP.

Updating iPod Touch Software Version and Apps saved game data

When I transfer my apps from iPod touch to iTunes will it also moved the saved game data like in Zombie Cafe, Amateur Surgeon 2 so on and so fort? Because I want to update my software version...

No. Transferring the app to the computer only transfers the app itself. not app data. App dat is stored in the iPod backup that iTunes makes as the first step of the a sync and of an update. Therefore, I would do one last sync of the iPod before restoring and ensure that the backup gets made. You can check by going to the Devices tab in iTunes' Preferences and looking at the date of the backup. Also, make sure your apps are in your iTunes library since the apps themselves are not in the backup but are synced to the iPod at the end of the update.

Can't restore App Store Icon

I moved my App Store Icon into my Trash quite some time ago. I tried to restore it, but haven't been successful. I get this message: "You can't open the application App Store.app because it may be damaged or incomplete." I can't get it back through my Apple icon in upper left. It's not there. I can't find it through Finder. My software is up to date.
My operating system is Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. I don't know if that means I have Snow Leopard or not. I do not want to upgrade to Lion because it will cause previously purchased third-party digital scrapbooking software to quit working.
How do I get the App Store Icon back? Everything I can find about getting it seems to be driving me to Lion. I can't even FIND the App Store anymore. Help!

Open Finder. Click on Applications. Look in the resulting list of applications for App Store.
If it's not there, you'll have to reinstall it from your Mac install disk.
Why did you put it in the trash? Have you emptied the trash since then?

IOS 7 App Store review dates missing

I notice since updating to IOS 7 that the dates for reviews are no longer appearing in the App Store app. They still appear in the reviews in the iTunes Store app.
Is this supposed to be gone with the update? If so, it's a step backwards... funny how I've relied on something as simple as the date of someone's review when deciding whether to purchase an app or not.

I wrote this to itunes feedback after several mails written to apple. I got several mails back but they sounded more like a computer generated feedback. There is not ios app store thread in here so only ipad users read this post...very clever i think to not let customers unite.

Backup/Restore App -- stores backups where? "Delete record" does what?

I had used the Backup/Restore app under 4.1.x to backup the table to itself. Upon installing the 4.2.2 update, there was some message about did I want to delete unusable 4.1 Backups? IIRC, I said no. Went into the App to make sure I knew what I was about to "delete" and did a "Delete Backup Record".
Concern is that free storage changed much less than I expected. Not sure how big the backup would have been but it sure took a lot longer to write than only the hunderd or so MB freed up would suggest.
Any idea where the locally stored backups are stored ? Went looking with Astro and found nothing obvious...
Anybody can confirm "Delete Backup Record" actually deletes the backed-up data not just the metadata of it having been done?

Backups are stored in the folder ".semc-fullbackup" on the internal storage or SD-card. This is a hidden folder so you need to select Show hidden files in Astro.
Deleting a backup from Backup & restore show remove all files in that backup.

My first app store game release! Thanks adobe!

My first app was just released onto the app store! It's a casual disc golf arcade game. I love that this was so easy to put together with Flash! Here's the link!

The hardest parts were definitely trying to work around the lack of retina support (thanks to this discussion board for helping me figure out how to do the 2x icon and default screen!) I really hope retina support is figured out soon! I want to move forward with more complex games but I'm worried about shooting myself in the foot if I start making art now.

If you are using the app as portrait, then the iPad is 768x1024. You could publish your iPhone FLA as iPhone/iPad, and the app it makes would scale to fill the iPad screen, but any of your 320x480 bitmaps would look a little soft. If you had made those bitmaps at 768x1024, and scaled them down to fit the iPhone stage, they would look ok at iPhone size, and perfect on iPad.
Currently the Retina support is just done by the iPhone 4 doing a good quality scale of the 320x480 version, so really it ought to look very much like the regular iPhone version. Once Flash support Retina you should be able to republish your app, and then the app would scale the bitmaps to 640x960 for iPhone 4. I'm hoping that any iPad resolution bitmaps will look ok when scaled from 768x1024 down to 640x960.
The highest quality approach you could take would be to have three different scenes, each with exact sized images. Then on startup you would figure out the size of the screen you're on, and jump to the corresponding scene. I think the stage scalemode would have to be set to none for that to work.

You need a Mac and the latest XCode.
The "native" language is Objective-C.
It costs $99 to join the developer program to be able to put Apps in the App store.
You would need to sell a lot of games to pay for a US University!

How can I restore single saved game data?

So I recently updated Infinity Blade 2 with the new update that just came out. However, this wiped my saved game.
However, my phone does iCloud backups, and I noticed that the saved game data was backed up previously.
Is there a way for me to restore the game and get my saved game back? I can see the saves but I don't know how to get them back!

I don't know if Macroplant's iExplorer application would help here, but I've posted details on how to back up and restore individual game data (achievements, scores, etc.) for future reference.

When you see the title NOTICE This game is not supported on volumes formatted as Mac OS Extended (Case-Sensitive), does this mean you cannot transfer to external? I have two games I have from mac app store and titled a folder on an External called Applications and they transfer and run perfect. What does this have to do with? Thanks

Mac OS Extended (Case-Sensitive) is one format that Disk Utility uses to configure a drive for the Mac. This is warning you not to try to run the game from a drive that has been formatted this way. Since your games run without issue, your ext drives are not likely formatted this way.
