Restore apps to itunes

I got a new computer, loaded itunes, bought pod to pc so I could transfer my songs back into itunes. But how do I get my apps (bought from itunes) back into itunes? I am afraid to sync for fear I will lose all of them.

Apps can also (unlike movies, music and TV shows) be downloaded again from the iTunes Store without paying a second time (assuming that the app is still available, of course). So if for some reason you can't get the apps from your iPod, you can download the apps again. See:

  • Restore apps from iTunes

I wiped and restored my iPhone 5S last night before going to bed. When I woke up and tried to complete the process, I found that the apps were all greyed out.
I logged into the App Store, and it said that it was unable to complete the process. Then the App Store said that I need to restore the apps using iTunes 11.3. When I looked at the list of apps in the left panel of the apps window in iTunes, there were only 3 apps. In the right panel, all of  my Home Screens appear the way that I want my phone to be.
I want to get everything onto my phone without undoing anything in iTunes. Why can't I click the Apply button, and do a one-way sync?

I figured it out. No need for further reply.

  • Computer crashed, want to restore apps to itunes without losing data

My computer, which is a Dell Inspiron laptop running Vista, crashed and I had to replace the entire hard drive. I even had to reinstall Itunes. I have some of my music on my Ipod touch, some on the kid's ipod nano and some (mostly holiday music) not on either ipod. I have quite a lot of apps on my ipod touch, and I am unsure how I can get back to synchronizing again without losing my apps and especially without losing the data I have saved (on my ipod touch) for certain apps (grocery lists, etc.) Also, will I lose my calendar data and my contacts? Please please tell me it won't be so. I am not even sure what else I need to worry about losing. I've been going crazy with this whole hard drive thing this week. Thanks for any advice.

If you search this forum for "ipod to computer," you will find posts which may help. You may also find some assistance in the iPod manual -

  • Backup apps ONLY + Itunes

Is there any way to just backup IPhone Apps you've bought in Itunes on the Mac ?
I read someone (think it was MacRumors.com) all apps are stored in the following location
    /Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications/
However, there must be more to it, as just backing up/restoring this folder to correct location does not restore app in Itunes. (in order to sync to IPhone).
Reason why would be if you want to keep a backup of apps you've purchased.
As I've just discovered you can also re-download recently purchased apps free of charge... However, I've quickly found out as of today, the term "recent" is only about a few days. As I purchased an an Iphone app on the 2/01/11. It only allowed me one free download, and now its asking me to purchase again. (issues in relation to hard drive got replaced etc) so having bought this already I thought I could just re download (even Apple told me this), so I believed them...
This to me, seem really bad, as you've purchased the item, you have paid for it... shouldn't matter weather you need to re-download "X" number of times... By buying it again, Apple is effective ripping you off.
If I got in touch with Itunes support. would they allow this ?

Ya ... i have had that link before from Apple, and have seen it the same dialog appear in Itunes...
But today, I need to re download.... (expecting the same thing to happen) and it doesn't.
Thats the same response Apple gave me too.. I'll just get in tough with Itunes support, as i can not download again free, even though it should be the case then.
On a side note, i had a feeling you might need to backup your entire library just for the apps..... Thanks anyway... Just a thought,,,

  • If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...
and i hope you understand my problem..
i would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if someone could tell me a solution to my problem!!! thank you so much!

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • No app store present on iPod Touch 4th gen and can't sync apps in iTunes, tried restoring/updating

I've tried everything I know to fix this problem with no luck so far, I'm hoping someone can help. Note that iTunes has been updated to the latest version (and my friend's computer is running Windows 7, if that helps at all).
My friend has an iPod Touch 4th generation. A while back he asked me to help him get apps onto the iPod, and I discovered that the App Store on the iPod itself was nowhere to be found, nor can he remember ever having one. In addition to this, he can't sync apps onto the iPod from within iTunes - the option to sync in the apps tab is greyed out. The music/movies/etc. sync just fine, however. At the time, his iPod had iOS 4.1.
After checking for parental restrictions in his iTunes and the iPod, I found that his iPod has a restrictions password set, which he doesn't know. His parents have no memory of setting restrictions and don't know the password, either.
I read online that the only way to remove the restrictions password is to restore the iPod, and since this seemed to be a good idea anyway due to the odd issue with iTunes refusing to sync apps, we restored the iPod and updated to iOS 5.1 today. Unfortunately, the App Store is still nowhere to be found, and we still can't sync apps in iTunes. The iPod still claims a restrictions password has been set as well.
I have checked and double-checked that no restrictions are set in iTunes preferences. My friend created a new iTunes account, so that shouldn't be the problem. While we're hoping to get both iTunes sync and the iPod App Store app working properly, right now he just wants to be able to get apps onto his iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas why his iPod didn't come with an App Store app, why it still doesn't have the Store after restoring, why iTunes won't sync apps, or why the restrictions password is still set after the restore? I've honestly run out of ideas as to how to fix this.
Before I posted this, I did a little more looking online about the restrictions password, which is apparently restored along with a backup. Neither of us were present during the restore (we had to leave for a couple of hours after the restore had been started), so I'm only asking this because I don't have his iPod or computer with me at the moment to test it myself - is there a way to manually cancel restoring from a backup during the process? If so, I need to restore the iPod a second time.
In the meantime, any ideas about my other three questions?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Edit: His iTunes account is authorized, by the way.

What exactly happmens when you try? Error message?

  • HT4623 I lost my apps and iTunes after a restore, but it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone 4. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos, but I'm still getting the same message.

I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!

Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

  • Ipad screen is white. Restored it on iTunes. Press home and on switch goes black then back to white with no logo at all. Can't get past the white screen. This happened after running app updates. 16GB OS 7.1.1

The ipad screen is white. Holding buttons didn't work so I restored it on iTunes. When I press home and on switch, the screen is white,  goes black then back to white with no logo at all. Can't get past the white screen. This happened after running app updates. Is there any fix besides going to Apple store? In iTunes on computer can see what is on there. 16GB OS 7.1.1

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • Apps on computer but in a different folder.  Can I merge them?I have 180 apps that iTunes can no longer "find".  They appear in "my apps" and there is a file location for them.  Can old purchases be restored without doing each one individually?

That did the trick! Thank you.
The free trial is all I needed to migrate my iPod Touch library into my main iTunes library. For those that want to use this tool for the same needs there are some things that need to be moved manually, e.g. Apps. But you can do it within the program very easily. Also iBooks/PDFs etc. need to be moved manually. The help section will point you in the right direction.
No more switching iTunes libraries for me.

You can download it via iTunes on your computer or from your iPad.  Just search for the App on your iPad in the App store, and it won't have a price, it will say "Install."
From your iTunes you just drag it back to your iPad.
