Restore backup that went wrong
I went to connect my dad's iphone 4s to itunes, bc he hadnt done so in a while. And when I connected it, it asked to do a restore...and without thinking I clicked ok and it retored it to 5 yrs ago (the last time he'd ever backed his phone up). The final outcome is that i lost most of his pictures and ALL of his contacts. Is there a way to undo this?? I beg for accurate answers. Thank you

If your backups are on a network, it may take a few moments for the display to be "populated" and responsive.
What you see in the "Star Wars" display depends on how you got there. If you start from, say, your Documents folder, then that folder is all you'll see. If it wasn't included in your backups, you can't select them.
Select something else before going into the display, or select something else in the sidebar.

I'm not sure what you mean by "reset the purchase" What does that mean?
The only way that you can track payments in iTunes is on your computer. You can't do it on a mobile device.
Launch iTunes and go to Store>View my account. Enter your username and password and then go down to Purchase History and click on the "See All" text on the right side. In the next window you can research all of your iTunes purchases. -
Does anyone knows how to fix this problem? I received something on my phone that showed me that there was an update available. So when I updated my phone It deleted all the info. on my Experia Play games . I am unable to play those games. It keeps asking me to download and use the Wifi . I followed what they told me to do and I am still unable to play the preloaded games and I am unable to remove them as well.
I have done a hard reset and still can not play on my games that were preloaded when I have gotten the phone.

I'm sorry to learn this is still happening. I recommend a hard reset (http://bit.ly/rQe5WN). This will wipe the software clean and correct any glitches that may have occured during the recent update. Once the reset is complete, it will walk your through an on-screen activation and setup to sync your contacts, calendar, and paid apps. Keep me posted.

has there been an update to camera that went wrong or does anyone know a way to work around this problem..tried power down and on again, even removed battery, still has same problem.
Go to settings and > into all apps > locate camera app > and do a force stop , > then clear cache. Do a soft reset of phone.

with Rman 9i I do a full database backup including the current controlfile each night (with the catalog option). If the backup has been successful all backups older than 3 days are deleted (because of a lack of disk space).
Now I have to restore a backup older than 3 days which can be written back to disk from tape.
On disk there is a backup still available which is 2 days younger than the one I have to restore. That means in its controlfile the backup to be restored doesn't have the status DELETED yet.
Can I restore this controlfile first, then resync my catalog and restore the old backup after the entry is back to the catalog ?
How do I specify which controlfile and which backupset should be restored ?Hi ebrian,

Just to be sure that I understand you right:
I startup the database in nomount mode.
Then I restore the controlfile from the backup which is 2 days younger than the one I have to restore because this controlfile contains the desired backup record with status "not deleted". Is that right ?
Each of my backup consists of 3 backup pieces. How can I find out which of the pieces contains the controlfile ? Or can I try one after the other until it works ?
After the controlfile is restored successfully I use the following commands to restore and recover the database:
rman target=sys/<syspw>@target_db
run {
alter database mount;
allocate channel c1 type disk;
set until time '<point of time a little bit prior to the point of time of the backup to be restored>';
restore database;
recover database;
release channel c1;
open database resetlogs;
exit;
Because of the "resetlogs" I take a full backup of the database afterwards.
For the future I intend to change the process of deleting backups as described below:
* delete them from disk with operating system command not with the rman delete command
* configure retention policy to recovery window of n days (n = number of days backups are preserved on tape)
* start rman script each night: \\ allocate channel for maintenance device type disk; \\ delete obsolete; \\ release channel;
Is it possible to restore each backup from tape if required with the procedure described ?
One last question concerning the recovery:
instead of the "set until time " before using the "restore database" command is it possible to specify a concrete backup to be restored (e.g. specifying the exact time it is taken or the backup piece numbers) ?

help me...First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

hi, I really need some help.
My computer: MSI K7T-266 PRO2 mainboard for Socket A • 2 DDR-DIMM PC2100 512MB DDR memory • 1 AMD Athlon XP1800+ 1.53 GHz 266 MHz bus • 1 Western Digital Caviar 20GB IDE 7200RPM. Aproximately 1 year old.
Since I first got the machine I have frequently got a blue screen. It does not matter what I do. It can happen anytime. I have downloaded all the newest drivers, but without it helping. So what do I do? I flash my Bios, and as far as I know, it went wrong. I can't start my computer. It is dead. I just hear beeping sounds when I start it.
Can anyone please help me?
PS: Downloaded all the right files from MSI, and followed the instructions. Everything seemed to be OK, but when I reebooted nothing happened.look in your manual find the clear cosmos jumper

Restoring backup that was marked obsolete by RMAN

Is it possible to restore a BACKUPSET that is outside the retention period? The backup was claimed absolete according to RMAN retention settings and the records were therefore deleted from the catalog.
Can we still use/restore this backupset?If you have Time Machine setup, you can use it to recover the backup with it. Then just restore the iPhone from backup as usual.
If you haven't setup Time Machine, you can try searching the web for backup extractors (not made by Apple). One of those Extractors may be able to recover some of the data from the backup, which you can just re-import and sync to the iPhone again. -
When I syncronized my iPad 2 with iTunes, something happened that made the syncronization to not go all the way through. I tried restore, but the iPad became disconnected from iTunes and now the iTunes do not recognize the iPad (it is not visible as a unit). When I start the iPad it has the symbol for iTunes and do not respond for anything else but wait for being connected to iTunes. Catch 22... How do I get my iPad to become visible in iTunes??? so I can restore the iPad?

Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection. -

I accidentally restored my iphone back to factory settings and cannot get back to the restore backup that happened at 9:25 this morning because when i was trying to figure out the password, i accidentally overrode the backup. IF the photos were not on the camera roll they will not transfer over in a backup. If they are from ana lbum you will need to sync your iPad air to the computer that they came from.
If they are on the camera roll make sure you restored from the most up to date backup -
I was updating my phone in itunes and the "update went wrong" and now the phone is not recognized by itunes. I unattatched the phone and it wont turn on or off, just shows a picture of the itunes symbol and a usb cord. In itunes it says that it is an unknown iphone and is in recovery mode so I need to restore the phone. If I restore the phone I loose all my pictures, which I dont want to do...and my contacts. What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
Wait for unlock notification.
Restore the backup. -
