Restore, but I do not have a power supply.
Hi. I just got a 4g iPod of ebay. I went to restore it via iTunes and everything went well until I have to plug it into an external power supply. Apparently my really cheap charger (also from ebay) that isn't the "brick" that apple makes doesn't work for an external power supply.
Now all my questions:
Is there a way to get rid of the image on the screen telling me to plug it in? Would it be bad to reset it mid-restore? Can I leave it for a week or so in this 'plug me in' mode until I can borrow a brick to plug it into? Any advice would be helpful.

Plug it into a 6-pin FireWire port on a computer, or an unit such as the iPod Hi-Fi, or try this method, or take it to an Apple Store.

I have gone through the router reset for home network, Router reset at work. Restarted my personal hotspot on my iPhone that is running the same IOS.
I have performed the Network settings reset on the iPad.
I have performed a hard reboot on the iPad, (Home button and power button until logo appears)
Also I had to update the Apple driver on my laptop for iTunes to see my iPad after I had updated iTunes, I'm not sure if I lost wifi after I updated the iPad IOS or updating iTunes. -
I updated my ipad but when I went into dragonvale it no longer recognized me and made me create a new account. As a result I can no longer access my park. I have tried to go into the Game Center to restore my park but i do not have any options to restore my old login/ account. Any tips?

This has happened doing the latest software update. I think I accidentally deleted iTunes before doing the latest update in trying to make room on the phone when it came up with limited space.
My iPhone is locked with the connect to iTunes logo on screen. I have connected and trying to restore but it is not working. I have turned it on and off but to no avail.

Ipad displays “ipad is disabled connect to itunes”, I have tried putting the ipad into recovery mode and then restoring but that does not work. I have also tried doing a hard reset of the ipad and that does not work either. Any ideas?
My son let one of his friends use his ipad. The next time he tired to use it he could not get it unlocked, I tired to unlock it but it kept telling me that I had the wrong pass code. ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

I backedup my iphone 4 to the cloud before upgrading to an iphone 5. I also backedup my iphone 5 to icloud. I can see both phone's backups side by side on the my screen on icloud. But it will not allow me to restore the iphone 4 backup to my iphone 5. I need contacts from the iphone 4 backup but I do not have that phone anymore and icloud will only let me restore the iphone 5's backups to my iphone 5. Is there anyway to get the contacts from my previous iphone 4 backup?
You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud. If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now). Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier. -

i just bought an ipod touch tht is disabled, i think its been synced with a computer already but i do not have the one its been synced to . The only thing you can do when you have forgotten the passcode is to restore the device as a new phone. A restore requires a computer and iTunes. If you have the computer you normally sync with, you could restore from a backup and not lose any content, however if you don't have that computer, you will lose all content with a restore. If you don't have that computer, you can restore with any computer that has iTunes.
