Restore contacts from AddressBook

I don't know how I lost all my contacts in AddressBook in my MacBook as well as in my iPhone. The last thing I remembers was that I was downloading and installing iTune 9 and then sync my iPhone. I have not done any backup for my AddressBook. I discovered that there are contacts information residing in data.syncdb in one of the folders in SyncServices/Local/clientdata. Is there anywhere I can restore my contacts from this file either from my MacBook or iPhone?

Hi.
Quit Address Book, and check if this file is present:
youruseraccount/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook.data.previous
In case it's present, first make a backup copy of it, then move to the Desktop the file named AddressBook.data (located in the same folder), and rename AddressBook.data.previous to Addressbook.data, and open Address Book.
Good Luck.

  • How do i restore contacts from a previous icloud backup?

Somehow - half of my contacts have disappeared.
I turned icoloud backup off , but the most recent backup is missing those contacts as well.
i am pretty sure that the previous backup have the full contacts that i want to restore.
Don't want to restore the entire phone.
how can this be done ? will icloud drive help ?

If you turned iCloud backup off and deleted the backup, you won't have an earlier iCloud backup to restore from.  Your most recent backup, if you didn't delete it, may have your contacts if it was made before the contacts were lost.  However, you have to follow this process to restore contacts from an iCloud backup: Recovering deleted iCloud contacts from an iCloud backup.  Otherwise the recovered contacts will be deleted as soon as your device reconnects to iCloud (making you think that they weren't included in the backup).

  • How can I restore contacts from Backup Assistant

My contact list has been corrupted. I have been using Backup Assistant for some time and want to restore my contacts from a previous backup.
Verizon seems to have changed BA since the last time I used it and the only function seems to be to take my corrupted contact list from my phone and store it.  Any suggestions on recovering my non-corrupted contact list?

Here is a reply from a VW CS regarding the same question a few months back:
Click this link Backup Assistant (sign in) to check if contacts are available. You may sync directly from the site, by simply clicking sync on the right hand side (above contacts).
You may also try to sync by adding your G-mail account to the your device then go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Ensure Sync is on for G-mail account. You may also select Auto-sync.

Please help me restore my contacts from the backup in my laptop. When i took the backup  the first time, i dont know where it took the backup. After that i tried restoring the contacts back  to my iPhone, but was unable to. What can i do to findout where did the contacts go in my laptop? Please help asap.

Unfortunately, you have posted in the wrong community. However, I am not quite sure which community you should be posting in. Do you use iCloud for your contacts.

Inactive memory is your file system cache.
The cache is trying to save you from expensive disk I/O (where expensive means in time and battery life).  Running that disk a lot drains your battery faster, and it is orders of magnitude slower than data already in RAM.  Unused RAM is a waste of money.
Is your system running slow?  If so, then start looking at all those 3rd party additions you have loaded.
Do you really need "2" virtual machines?  VirtualBox and Parallels?
As mentioned above, get rid of the anti-virus software.  It is just eating system resources.
Do you need MacFUSE.  It has been responsible for performance issues for some users (all of which may depend on what kind of file system format you are trying access).
Do you need to run your own Samba server?
You have OpenVPN and TunnelBrick.  Are they both needed?

  • Can I restore contacts from an earlier iCloud backup?

    Hi
I hope someone can help me...!
My son had contacts syncing via iCloud on his iPod so ended up with all the contacts from my iPhone.  At his request I removed all my work/social contacts, just leaving on his iPod the few for family members that he needed.
I've just realised that of course my iPhone has now synced with the updated contacts on his iPod and all 250+ work/social contacts have gone.
I have tried restoring and merging from iCloud but the latest backup only contains the family contacts.
Is it possible to access an earlier version of the iCloud backup, or does it only store the very latest version?
Thanks for any suggestions you may be able to give me.

How about if I go into iTunes - Info - Advanced - Replace information on this iPhone (and select Contacts)?
    It says:
During the next sync only, iTunes will replace the selected information on this iPhone with information from this computer.
Where does that contacts info come from? Is it downloaded from iCloud or does iTunes on my MacBook Air store an earlier backup of this data?
    Grasping at straws here!
    Thanks for any help...

What i am trying to do is parsing the Information of a certain Addressbook field in the format "City** Hotel" to "Hotel **" in Pages after i dragged the contact to an open pages document.

  • Restoring Contacts from Bold to Q10?

    Hi,
I've just got the blackberry Q10 and can't seem to restore my contacts from my backup file.
I've followed all the steps and restored everything e.g. messages etc which are working fine, but the only reference to restore contacts is "recent contacts". When i tick this box and click restore and then check my phone contacts, it still only shows my bbm contacts.
Anyone have idea how to sort this?
    Regards,
    David.

Your Hotmail contacts were probably synced from your hotmail email account.
The next thing you can do is to call o2 and ask them to please escalate this for you to BlackBerry tech support and ask them to extract your Address Book only out for the backup and see if you can restore that.

  • Restore contacts from iTunes (lost contacts)

    Hi,
Yesterday I was playing with iTunes and I don't know what happened and I lost all contacts from iPhone. I know I tunes took backup at 2P.M , at 6P.M and again 7P.M. Last time I see contacts in my phone was before 2 p.m
When I try to use restore from back I only see two entries in the drop down 6p.m and 7p.m.
How do I force iTunes software to search specific file in the back-up folder?
How to even make sure there are contacts in 2p.m backup folder?
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks

Yes the 6PM backup files merely replaced the one from 2PM, which means blank contact had replaced your previous contacts on the phone.
The only possibilty to get your contact back may be, is to restore your Windows operating system back to the time before you did the sync.  Refer to this link for explanation.  But you may need someone good in computer knowledge to get you through with it.

Now you have learned your lesson, in future, you should always enable sync contact with either Outlook, Yahoo or Google Conacts so that you always have another copy of contact should any mishap happening like this one.

  • HT4859 Restore Contacts from iCloud

Can I restore the edited Contacts from iCloud into my iPhone that is not a new device?

Here is what happened. Somehow, I synced my iPhone with all of my Google contacts, which added unnecessary garbage to my iPhone contacts. Meanwhile, it automatically backed it up a few times on my iPhone and to the iCloud. In other words, I forever lost my clean phone contact list. Somehow, I only have gmail email list on my iPhone contact list.. bizarre... So, I went to iCloud and cleaned up the contact list since it's a lot easier to do on iCloud than directly on the phone. I even exported the Contact as a vcard into external file. But I can't figure out how to restore my Contact list by importing - either from iCloud, or, from external file into my iPhone.
    Am I clear?

  • Restoring Contacts from Time Machine to iCloud

I've seen numerous discussions and threads about this problem and I'm a little confused on exactly what is the proper solution.  Recently my iCloud account was hacked and all my Contacts were erased.  This also caused all my Contacts on my iPhone and iMac to be erased as well.  I can restore my Contacts from a Time Machine Back up to my iMac "Address Book", however as soon as I connect back to iCloud, all the contacts are erased.  I tried to restore my iPhone from an earlier iPhone backup which restored everything, as far as I know, except the Contacts.  I don't have a huge number of contacts or groups, so I don't care if the group information is lost.  There seems to be some conflicting information on how to do this correctly, so I'm asking what the current best practice is to restore all my contacts from a Time Machine Backup to iCloud.
    Thanks!
    Ed

I tried that an it was removed.  I found the solution.  One needs to disconnect from the internet totally.  Restore the Address Book from the Time Machine backup and then export all the cards as vcd's to one's desktop.  Reconnect to the Internet and to iCloud.  This again erases the Contacts.  Now one can import the vCards into Address Book.  This worked, but all the groups were lost, but that wasn't a big deal for me.  Thanks for the help.
