Restore Contacts with Backup Assistant

Change PIN code
About
How do I restore my contacts that I previous backed up?

Hello SpiralPath,
Were you able to retrieve those contacts? Click this link Backup Assistant (sign in) to check if contacts are available. You may sync directly from the site, by simply clicking sync on the right hand side (above contacts).
You may also try to sync by adding your G-mail account to the your device then go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Ensure Sync is on for G-mail account. You may also select Auto-sync.
For additional information on how to restore contacts, click the link below:

  • How can I restore contacts from Backup Assistant

My contact list has been corrupted. I have been using Backup Assistant for some time and want to restore my contacts from a previous backup.
Verizon seems to have changed BA since the last time I used it and the only function seems to be to take my corrupted contact list from my phone and store it.  Any suggestions on recovering my non-corrupted contact list?

Here is a reply from a VW CS regarding the same question a few months back:

  • Is there any way to restore contacts with no backup?

Is there any way to restore contacts with no backup on an iphone 4?

  • Where are all my contacts using Backup Assistant?

I am trying to back up all contacts on my IPhone 5. I updated using the backup assistant and do not have the entire list.
On ICloud they all appear to be there. I am just trying to have a backup if my phone broke.

Thanks for the additional info, Mpag! If I understand correctly, the contacts you have in Backup Assistant right now are not a match for what's on your phone. If that's accurate, then I recommend against attempting to synchronize with Backup Assistant out of concerns that the data that's online may override what you have on your device. Instead, use iCloud to backup what's on your device now, and THEN synchronize with Backup Assistant They should blend, bringing both your work and personal contacts into one place on your iPhone. Then, going forward, each backup with your choice (Backup Assistant or iCloud) should have an up-to-date version of your contacts list.
You can get details on iCloud at this link: https://www.icloud.com/

  • How can I backup my Google contacts to Backup Assistant+?

The only contacts that sync are the ones I entered manually.  The contacts I synced via Google Contacts do not backup to Backup Assistant+.

The phone is functioning correctly. Google contacts has never been designed to sync with Backup Assistant. The Google contacts are synced with the Google servers.

  • My I Touch is frozen. I have rebooted it, restored it to factory settings and restored it with backup. Sometimes it works for a week or 2, sometimes not.

My iTouch is frozen. I have rebooted it, restored it with backup and restored it to factory settings. It works for a week or 2 and then freezes again. Now it just will not unlock.

    pop the sim card out...
full restore, will wipe out the system & lock code...
resync with your data, and you should be good...

  • How do I restore phone contacts from Backup Assistant backups?

Something caused my contacts to revert to an older version.  I not able to find how to restore them from an earlier Backup Assistant backup.

I'm super sorry to hear about your contacts, dave658! I'm commited to doing all I can to ensure that you're able to restore your contacts. The best option would be to view your contacts online at vzw.com and follow the instructions below:
    1. Sign in to My Verizon.
    2. Locate the I Want To... section.
    3. Click More Actions.
    4. In the MESSAGING column, select Manage My Contacts. The Backup Assistant Plus: Contacts page displays.
    5. Click Sync to Phone. A confirmation message displays.
    6. Click OK.
Let me know if this helps. Have a great day! ^CM

  • Have LG Extravert with Backup Assistant but can't access BA online to manage contacts

I have backed up my contacts on the ol' phone, hoping to print them and/or import into my contacts on the Mac (and ultimately sinc the new iPhone to the Mac).  Can not for the life of me find the Manage Contacts online from which to print/import.  Keep getting into a cyclical loop opening new windows and trying to get me to sign up for Verizon Cloud, something I don't need and certainly not something that is getting me to the contacts I need to see.  Trying to call in for help and after long waits on hold, getting dropped, and getting texts that ask me to call a number....and that number wants to sell me Verizon equipment.  Sooo irritating!  Where is the Backup Assistant list of contacts -- that's all I need and it seems to be allusive for me and others looking for the same thing.

BackupAssistant is here:  My Verizon Online Sign In - Verizon Wireless

  • Comparing contacts with backup

Don't know why, I lost some data in my contacts of Add Book, have around 1600 contacts, missing some phone numbers, addresses, not full contacts; I have a backup, is there an easy way to compare current data and backup and see what fields are missing? I tried to export through Entourage into 2 txt files and compare with Difference Examiner, but almost all records seem different, may be because of blanks.
    Thanks for the help

How strange for your contacts to disappear, K.Macgyver. Since you have indicated that you have Backup Assistant, have you tried logging in to the following link to check if your contacts are saved or in the trash: http://vz.to/1ktHqet If your contacts are not here, have you previously backed up your phone using iTunes or iCloud? Performing a restore from a previous back up would bring back the contacts that were saved at the last back up.

  • Sorting Contacts from Backup Assistant

I exported my Outlook contacts to a cvs file in Excel.  I deleted all of the unnecessary fields so that I basically had the following fields:  First Name / Last Name / Phone / Mobile / etc.
I imported the file to Backup Assistant and then synced it with my phone.  The contacts are now on my phone, but they are listed (sorted) by First Name.  How can I get my contacts listed on my phone by Last Name?

Some phones do sort by first name, and some give you the option of sorting by first or last. If you have a phone that sorts by first name, then you would have to switch and put the last name in the first name field to "trick" your phone into sorting the way you want.
I wish I had a better answer, but if the phone sorts by first name only, then you have to "force" a sort by playing by the phone's rules...

  • I am getting an error with Backup Assistant

Everytime it runs it says: "Failed to SyncErrorcode:10".
Thanks in advance for your help.

BA does not work well with some smartphone and this error is very common...  Most just export data into gMail to resolve this issue....
Try Importing all contacts to Google and then all you have to do is check the double entries and select delete..
    1. Log into Verizon Backup Assistant
    2. Click on Export to CSV
    3. Save File as (or Rename to) Contacts (it should already be converted to CSV so including .csv is redundant)
    4. Log into Gmail/Google Voice
    5. Click on Contacts
    6. Click on Import
    7. Browse for the Contacts (.csv) file
    8. Click Import
    9. Disable BA by going to Settings / Applications . Manage Applications / All Tab / Sync Service / Clear All

  • Kin ONEm: uploading contacts from backup assistant?

back when the Kin was a full social networking phone with access to a "cloud", you could add all your contacts by exporting them into a spreadsheet from the backup assistant, and then use  your microsoft live account to get them into the phone (or somethign to that effect).  but now that the kin is just a feature phone, it appears you can't any more.
does anyone know how to upload contacts? I think now we have to do them all manually, which stinks. but I'd like to know if there is a way before I do all that work!

I've been using Bitpim with my Voyager since I bought the phone 21 months ago.  It works well.  I like it because I can backup my calendar, memos,  and photos as well as my contacts.  I never tried backup assistant so not sure it can backup up everything with it, or just the contacts.  I've been searching to see if there's any talk of an update with BitPim for the Kin yet but haven't found anything.  I have to wait till Jan 7th to buy the Kin TwoM when my renewal is due, so haven't been able to try Bitpim with the Kin yet, but I doubt it will work until they update Bitpim.   I don't think it's a big deal if I have to manually update my contacts on the Kin, but It's a bummer if I can't transfer all of my calendar info to the Kin since I use the Calendar CONSTANTLY.   It's not a deterrant for me not to get the Kin though, because I really want the WIFI with no dataplan.  I find I use my Itouch with WiFi (no 3G) often to get onto the internet.
I will try the Bitpim after going back home...hopefully it works...

  • Importing contacts into Backup Assistant

VZW told me the only way to import contacts from an old phone is via the Backup Assistant. (I was with another carrier).  I have my contacts on my PC in vcf or csv form.  I can adapt the csv file to suit any specific format that VSW would have.  Not too difficult with a spreadsheet.
I havent found any way to import multiple contacts in a single file, except manually one by one in .vcf format.
When I try to import just two contacts in vcf, they come out mixed up in BA.
I also tried to use the specific VZW BA csv format by exporting as a csv file one of the contacts I imported individually: I opened the exported csv file, which had one contact, duplicated that contact with a small difference in the last name, and tried to import it again.  I got the usual warning:
We need complete information to save each imported contact as a new Backup Assistant contact. Please complete all the required fields First Name, Last Name or Company Name, Phone Number or Email Address for the following rows: 2 & 3. All your other contacts will be imported.
Please anybody, let me know if there is a way to import a number of contacts, even if there is a limitation on the number I can do in one import operation.  That will always be better than importing hundreds of contacts one by one.

I think that was the error - exporting only ONE - try to export your current contact list.  Look at the structure of the csv that gets exported, especially the field delimiters (probably commas) and record separators - this could be line breaks, carriage returns, periods - and this is critical to BA beign able to distinguish one contact record from another.
Once you know the structure and how it separates each record (contact), then you can add the data from your other import list, making sure it follows the same rules; if it uses something else to separate the records, then you'll need to do a search an dreplace for those characters so the structure matches.
Also, the number of fields needs to be the same for each record; if the field is blank then something needs to be put in, like a space, so the right information gets put in the right fields.
Hope this all makes sense....post back with any further questions.

  • How do I permanently delete a contact?  Backup Assistant keeps putting it back!

I'm trying to clean up my contact lists.  I have some contacts with lastname, firstname, and some the other way around.  I used backup assistant to get them all the way I wanted.  Problem is when it synched with my phone, now it has both sets of contacts.  I've tried eveyrthing I can think of, even simultaneously deleting contacts from my phone and from backup assistant, but those bad contacts keep coming back!  Help!

Remove it from the BA and then remove it from the phone and then sync....   If that dont work you can unpair BA from phone and then make changes from both locations and then log back in...
Under Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All / Sync Services / Clear Data.... This wont delete anything from phone or BA just stop the sync process until you log back into BA.
