Restore database in the past using only archivelog without full backup

Hi,
We have a 11g Oracle database up & running.
We don't have a full backup, but we have all archived log from the last 2 months.
Is it possible to "restore" the database using archived logs in a date in the past?
I mean for example 3 days ago?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, ok Vijayaraghavan K.
Thx for u help.
And about the users ?
i need to create the "same" user in another machine ?
For example:
In this machine i using the "system" user, where i have my tables.
Another machine, when i restore, my tables will go to the "system" user too? or i can choice? or i need to create one?A true backup is a copy of the data files at the file/block level. The restore is therefore a restore of the data files/blocks. Applying the redo (archive logs) is also done at the block level. None of that knows or cares (or needs to know or care) about logical objects (such as users, tablespaces, tables, rows, etc) within the database. so if you do a proper restore, you are restoring files to a consistent state and thus everything that was defined within those files will be there when restored.

  • Restore database in the same server but with other sid (name)

i try to restore the database in the same server but with other sid (name) . The backup is on tape and
I want to know the steps I should follow.
    thank.

To perform restore of database in same host to choose another DB name you can go for
    1) duplicate using RMAN.
Directory structure should be different so take care of db_file_name_convert & log_file_name_convert parameters
Also check the Tns services exactly is it pointing to target & auxiliary

    Hello,
I use the arrow keys a lot in the finder (I do a lot of renaming) but I can't find a way to open a document with the keyboard. Only the mouse double-click seems to work.
    Anyone knows a shortcut?
    Thanks

    Hi k.panic,
Thanks for that one. I had not used that shortcut before.
Guess I could do more reading. There's a lot to learn.

The "Sim Free" iPhones, sold in the UK, will lock to the first UK carrier whose sim is inserted in the phone. They will not acticate or work with any other carrier, other than a UK carrier.
Return it for a refund as it will be useles to you where you live. You won't be able to activate it or get it officially unlocked. You'd first have to activate it in the UK & then regust the UK carrier to authorize the phone's official unlocking.

  • LSO - How to create classroom training records in the past using LSO trans

    Hello,
we are managing classroom training outside SAP but we want to maintain retrospectively the information in LSO in order for employees to see in the Portal as Completed Training.
When using the LSO transaction (e.g. LSO_PV08) to book the participant the system uses the current date. And this date is not modifiable using PP01 for the system does not allow direct maintenance of "E A025 to P" relationship.
Is there a way to "control" the booking date?
    Thanks
    Kind regards,
    Olivier

    Hello Deepak,
    thanks for your help.
The issue is that changing T777E is not enough to be able to maintain the fields value. Indeed when I select the relationship through PP01, then additional data, the screen I end up with, does not allow maintenance and rather display a message "Protected tab titles are not supported (tab TABSTR_025 title TAB1)"
Anyway what I would like to know if there is a way in LSO, when using standard functionalities such as "Booking a course" (with LSO_PV00 for example) to control the booking course date (for my system it is always the system date which is not acceptable if I want to create historical data [my classroom training took place last month so I want my training records and more specifically the "Booking Date" to be last month ]

  • DPM is Only Allowing Express Full Backups For a Database Set to Full Recovery Model

I have just transitioned my SQL backups from a server running SCDPM 2012 SP1 to a different server running 2012 R2.  All backups are working as expected except for one.  The database in question is supposed to be backuped up iwht a daily express
full and hourly incremental schedule.  Although the database is set to full recovery model, the new DPM server says that recovery points will be created for that database based on the express full backup schedule.  I checked the logs on the old DPM
server and the transaction log backups were working just fine up until I stopped protection the data source.  The SQL server is 2008 R2 SP2.  Other databases on the same server that are set to full recovery model are working just fine.  If we
switch the recovery model of a database that isn't protected by DPM and then start the wizard to add it to the protection group it properly sees the difference when we flip the recovery model back and forth.  We also tried switching the recovery model
on the failing database from full to simple and then back again, but to no avail.  Both the SQL server and the DPM server have been rebooted.  We have successfully set up transaction log backups in a SQL maintenance plan as a test, so we know the
database is really using the full recovery model.
Is there anything that someone knows about that can trigger a false positive for recovery model to backup type mismatches?

I was having this same problem and appear to have found a solution.  I wanted hourly recovery points for all my SQL databases.  I was getting hourly for some but not for others.  The others were only getting a recovery point for the Full Express
backup.  I noted that some of the databases were in simple recovery mode so I changed them to full recovery mode but that did not solve my problem.  I was still not getting the hourly recovery points.
I found an article that seemed to indicate that SCDPM did not recognize any change in the recovery model once protection had started.  My database was in simple recovery mode when I added it (auto) to protection so even though I changed it to full recovery
mode SCDPM continued to treat it as simple.
I tested this by 1) verify my db is set to full recovery, 2) back it up and restore it with a new name, 3) allow SCDPM to automatically add it to protection over night, 4) verify the next day I am getting hourly recovery points on the copy of the db.
It worked.  The original db was still only getting express full recovery points and the copy was getting hourly.  I suppose that if I don't want to restore a production db with an alternate name I will have to remove the db from protection, verify
that it is set to full, and then add it back to protection.   I have not tested this yet.
This is the article I read:

    Hi Soli!
You may use the code from the following example to solve your problem:
    <pre>
    RUN
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch1 DEVICE TYPE disk FORMAT '/u01/backups/datafiles_%U.bkp';
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch2 DEVICE TYPE disk FORMAT '/u02/backups/controlfile_%U.bkp';
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch3 DEVICE TYPE disk FORMAT '/u03/backups/archivlog_%U.bkp';
    BACKUP
(DATAFILE 1,2,3,4 # channel ch1 backs up datafiles
    CHANNEL ch1)
    (CONTROLFILECOPY '/oracle/copy/cf.f'
CHANNEL ch2) # channel ch2 backs up control file copy
    (ARCHIVELOG FROM TIME 'SYSDATE-14'
CHANNEL ch3); # channel ch3 backs up archived redo logs
    Hope that helps!

  • How to set time machine to only do a full backup manually?

I just want to do a full backup every once in a while, manually. Then turn TM back off. Can this be done? Or maybe set the frequency to just once a week/month?

To set the frequency, Set to OFF and then place the following launchd plist in ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ (mine is saved as "com.tonyt.StartTimeMachine.plist") and then log-out and back in (or re-boot)
This is set for weekly, Monday at 12:00am:

  • Connecting to a database through the Proxy using JDBC

    Hi,
I am working on core java.
I want to established connection to remote database(I am working on local network behind the proxy)
how can i do this using core java
    thanks in advance
    regards

The only issue I see here is configuring the proxy to allow the client program to connect to a certain port on the server. And that issue would normally be dealt with by asking the person who manages the proxy to set it up that way.

  • My mx452 is out of color ink. How can I print with the MX452 using only black ink?

    Hi
    I have the MX452.
I only use it now to print in black and white.
But I cannot get it to print despite a new b&w cartridge.
Do i have to buy a new color print cartridge or can I overide the error code "Check Color Ink 1688"  ??
I dont want to spend $30 on a color cartridge that I will not use.

I am absolutely disgusted by this; clearly a scam from HP to make more money by selling extra ink cartridges!!  I will make sure to never buy any products from the shoddy rip off merchants at HP ever again!!
    You should be ashamed!!

  • How do I make the iPhone use only the Address Book contacts?

I just spent some time cleaning up my Address Book on my Mac. I want to sync it back to the iPhone so that the phone shows the exact same contacts. How do I know what will override which contacts are used? I don't want the iPhone to merge anything, I want a clean start with the Address Book I just cleaned up.
Going forward of course I will want to keep contacts I've added on the phone, but for now the Address Book is most current.

    Hey Exit,
Click on the iPhone on the left side of iTunes, under Devices> Click Info above the picture of the iPhone> scroll to the bottom and check Contacts under Advanced Replace Information on this iPhone.
This will erase the contacts on the iPhone and replace them with contacts in Address Book.
