Restore deleted mailboxes

Hello,
When i go to exchange EAC in O365 and go to deleted mailboxes, i recieved this error:
ERROR
"The server can't sort by the requested property"
I have exchange 2013 and EXchange Online in hybrid mode.
any ideas?
Thanks

Can you be more specific about where you are going to access "deleted mailboxes". I do not see any such selection in my Exchange Admin Center.

  • Restore deleted mailboxes fro  time machine

I have accidentally deleted an email account and lost all the emails. They are on my time machine backup somewhere, but I can't find them because it doesn't show the user library. Does anyone know how to restore mailboxes from time machine back onto my macbook air please? (OS 10.7.5)

Bring the Mail browser window forward, then enter Time Machine. Scroll back in the time-travel view to the most recent snapshot containing the messages you want to restore. Select the messages, then click Restore. The messages will be restored to a new mailbox. From there you can move them wherever you like.

  • Restoring deleted Mailbox from Time Machine

As my I just changed servers for my domain (and emails) I needed to create a new account.
Before realising what was happening - I had lost whole inbox and sent items (over 1400 emails!).
After the first panic - I though everything's fine: lets just restore from the Time Machine back up.
In Time Machine, I navigated to time showing the 'old Inbox' and clicked restore. Despite apparent window showing the restore in progress, nothing happens and no emails are to be found in any new mailbox or folder anywhere within Mail. After several desperate attempts - the over 800 inbox emails suddenly appear like magic on Mail and I am able to transfer them to the 'new Inbox'. Could have danced around the office..!
Now trying the same strange process with the Sent Items. Again the same problem but this time no matter how many times it keeps telling me it's been done - not a single restored email appears in Mail. Not even when as a test I try to restore only one email.
What on EARTH is going on.
Could someone smarter than me please help how I could get past this problem. All help GREATLY appreciated!

Did this solve your problem? I have the same problem and rebuilding the inbox pulls emails from the server again, but the problem is (like you mentioned) that the server is also empty and thus the inbox will be empty as a result of IMAP syncing after a rebuild command. I have tried everything, even restoring the entire mail folder and preferences files from a backup with no results!

  • How do I restore iCloud mailboxes from Time Machine without losing new mail?

This morning when I opened my laptop and checked my email, Apple Mail decided to flag every single email in my three separate Apple-related accounts ([email protected],[email protected], and [email protected])—some 14,500+ emails total. None of the emails in my comcast or yahoo accounts were affected. Of course, each of the three accounts is set to download copies to my laptop as well as keep them on the server, so now all of those emails are flagged across the board—on my iMac, my iPhone, my iPad mini as well as my laptop. Yay. Since some of the emails were actually flagged intentionally by me over time, I don't want to just unflag everything or I'll lose my flags as well as the ones spontaneously generated this morning.
    My questions are:
    1) If I use a Time Machine backup from last night to restore the three affected mailboxes, will iCloud accept them as the de facto most up-to-date versions, or do I still have to go through some complicated process in order to convince the cloud that the 14,500+ unflagged emails don't then need to be "updated" to flagged status?
    2) More importantly, will the cloud still sync properly so that I still get all of the emails that came since last night? I'm fine if the absence of the more recent emails from the "new" (actually older TM) mailboxes is interpreted as though they've been deleted, since my preferences are set to keep deleted email on the server for a month. But it would be a problem if those emails simply disappear into the ether.
    3) Does anyone have any idea what might have caused the random flagging in the first place and/or suggestions for keeping it from happening in the future?
I remember vaguely that in the early days of Time Machine, restoring iCloud mailboxes was a complicated process in order to trick the cloud into accepting the Time Machine backup as the latest and greatest version. I take it that's no longer such a tricky proposition nowadays, since a search of Apple's knowledge base yielded little information on it. I'd appreciate some confirmation on that, however, so I know what to expect after the restore.
    Thanks!
I'm going to try cross-posting this issue in both the iCloud and Time Machine forums since it's some of both. Apologies in advance if that causes confusion.

I set up an admin account for myself, logged on to it, and then followed the procedure in the help file to delete his account, saving it as a .dmg file.  Then, when he asked for his old emails, I followed the procedure in the help file to restore a deleted user account and copied the contents of the .dmg into it.
I'm not entirely confident I got the restoration sequence right, since I find the order of steps in the help file confusing. But everything except the Mail data seems to be recovered.
Another source of trouble may be the email account settings:  when I opened Mail under his log-on, there were no accounts set up: I recreated them using his email address and password, but Mail may well be treating these as new accounts, rather than re-opened old accounts.
    Thanks, John

  • Cannot restore a mailbox from Time Machine

On the recent Yosemithe I cannot restore a mailbox from my Time Machine backup. I proceed exactly as described in the Mail (Yosemite): Restore mailboxes and their content article. However, nothing happens after the process window completes. The restored content does not appear anywhere.
    Any ideas?

Although you can restore messages from a Time Machine snapshot within the Mail application, it generally won't work with messages that were saved by an obsolete version of Mail. In that case, you have to use an alternative method.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it are subfolders representing your Mail accounts. The names refer to the email addresses you use.
Enter Time Machine and scroll back to the snapshot you want. Select the account folders you want and then select  Restore ... to... from the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the snapshot window. Restore the folders to the Desktop, not to their original location.
From the Mail menu bar, select
              File ▹ Import Mailboxes...
Choose Apple Mail as the format and import from the mailboxes in the folders you restored to the Desktop. The imported messages will appear in a new mailbox. Move the ones you want to keep wherever you like and delete the rest. Then delete the folders on the Desktop.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • E71 Deleted mailbox still displaying

I had Nokia email set up to access my Gmail but deleted it and set up Seven to access my MS Exchange email.
The MS Exchange email works fine but new messages are not displaying on the home screen.
However, there is a notification from the deleted mailbox on the home screen.
I have set the home screen to display notification for the exchange mailbox, but to no avail.
    Can anyone help?

In case anyone else is interested, I restored the factory settings by dialling *#7370# from the home screen. This solved the problem and the restoring of my backup using PC Suite worked great.

  • Yahoo can restore your mailbox

I contacted yahoo after the iPhone deleted all the messages out of my acct and recieved this reply:
    Hello Dave,
    Thanks for contacting Yahoo! Mobile.
I apologize that you had that many email messages deleted. That would
really frustrate me. I am more than happy to restore your mailbox to a
previous date so you can recover these messages.
While the iPhone is a great piece of equipment, there have been quite a
few issues with it an Yahoo! services and you are not the only person
who has reported this issue. Apple and Yahoo! are working together to
    resolve these issues.
Our servers talk with the iPhone and basically do what it says, so the
problem is the iPhone and not your Yahoo! Mail, however we are working
together with Apple to prevent these issues in the future. I would
assume that before the iPhone you had been using Yahoo! Mail pretty much
without issue, at least for 4 years as you describe.
Again, please let me know if you would like to restore the mailbox. If
so, can you please provide the date to which these messages disappeared
and if you have received any new mail since that date, please forward it
to another address for archival before the restore.
Thanks again for contacting Yahoo! Mobile.
    Regards,
    Cort

Well, I take that back. They can only go back 4 days and it took them 5 to get back to me.

  • Restoration of Mailbox to another user

    Good afternoon all
    Exchange: 2013
    Outlook: 2013
I have yet another question relating to the recovery of a mailbox. What I require is the ability to restore a mailbox of a user from a recovery database to a temporary user account without a mailbox.
Basically what has happened, is a user has deleted their mailbox rules and I am trying to recover them by restoring a backup of their mailbox to an RDB and then restoring this mailbox to a newly created temporary user account so I can then export the rules
and get the user to import them. Is this possible or is there a better way?
I do not require assistance with the restore of a mailbox database to a recovery database, I am more than comfortable doing this. It's just when I got to the point of restoring the mailbox from the recovery database I had created I was unsure of how to proceed.
As always, any help and advice I can be given will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
Really sorry to keep asking questions, but I get this when I run the command to restore a mailbox from the RDB to another temporary user's mailbox. Is this expected and I should use the '-AllowLegacyDNMismatch' switch?
Source mailbox's legacyExchangeDN '/o=******* ***/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=7a38b514502f4a04abc1b5a370212b23-****** *****' doesn't match the legacyExchangeDN or X500 proxy for target mailbox 'MailboxRecoveryUser1'.
Use the 'AllowLegacyDNMismatch' switch if you want to allow this operation.

  • How do I delete mailboxes in Mail ios8?

I have been trying to complete some housekeeping on the iPad Mini 2 with iOS 8.1.1. The first problem was to  create Folders to stick the e mails in. This I managed to do via my ISP, though quite a tortuous route to take. In so doing, I now find there are a number of Folders in my .me/.cloud addresses that defy deletion.
Every time I go through the accepted route of Mail/Accounts/Account /Edit/Delete Mailbox Mail shuts down and the Mailbox is still there.
I have been back to my ISP to get help from him since Apple were singularly unhelpful when asking for help on creating the Folders in the first place, I thought it politic to go to the ISP first! They have yet to come back to me.
In trying to get rid of the non-required Folders, I went on to my Web Mail account and deleted all the folders I created earlier in the vane belief that if I then Reset the iPad, there would be nothing there for it to pick up and the non-required folders would no longer be synced on to the iPad. This worked fine for the normal e mail address, but the .me/,cloud (Apple) address there are three folders that will not be deleted.
What do I have to do to get them off the iPad? Do I have to get rid of the Mail App and invest in some other Mail App to get rid of the problem? It seems that looking on the internet for an answer, there are a lot of people with the same problem, which seems to stem from iOS 8.1.1.
Hope some one can help me resolve this very annoying glitch.
    Cheers

It seems that after a goodly while playing with this problem, the answer seems to be to do away with the IMAP account and use the PoP account. This has given no superfluous Boxes and seems to work as far as sending and receiving e mails is concerned. What it won't is allow me to create folders so that I can keep them in some semblance of order. It seems to me that I will have to maintain my e mails on the iMac and forget anything other than basic communication on the iPad. A real waste of money for something that can't even do the basics right! 'Twas ever thus.
    Cheers

Thank you very much for your reply gdgmacguy :) I did all you suggested apart from restore as new device . Didn't know I could do that . After restore I did restore from back up only,  as I didn't want to end up without contacts details on my phone. If I restore as new device how do I get my all contacts? Still will have to use back up? Sorry if it sounds like I don't know what i am doing, i just have no one to ask who would know. Thank you

  • I have deleted accounts via preferences Mail,Contacts etc however mailboxes still show in mail app and i am unable to delete them (Delete mailbox is greyed out)!

    Hi,
Ive constantly had problems with mail app since upgrading to mountaion lion. 8/10 time i have to force quit mail but thats not the main problem. I have been trying to delete all my mailboxes however the "Delete Mailbox" option is always greyed out therefore I went to system preferences>Mail,Contacts..., then selected the accounts and clicked " - " and deleted the accounts successfully.
Weird thing is that the mailboxes still show in mail app. I have no accounts showing in preferences as i have deleted everything but when i open mail app, everything is still there.
Anyone have an idea, what is going here? Wish it could be like windows, just uninstall and install the app again -_-
    Thanks in advance!

I found this link for a similar problem someone had with a Lotus Notes account. I used it to resolve my issue with a different email account (basically followed the same steps, and then looked for the particular account I needed to delete)... hope it helps!

  • Removing "Not Deleted" Mailboxes from a Database

Before I go anywhere, let me explain what I mean by "Not Deleted" mailboxes - We will be deleting and recreating a pair of databases this weekend. A s part of this process, we move all mailboxes from these databases to the other 22 mailbox databases
in the corporation, leaving our databases empty.  We then run a command to find the soft-deleted and disconnected mailboxes and handle them (remove the former and reconnect the latter so we can move them to another database).  When I ran this script
on one of the two databases, I found that the database had two supposedly live mailboxes on it.
So I ran Get-MailboxStatistics -Database and got info about these two mailboxes.  Neither shows as being SoftDeleted or Disconnected, and neither has a DisconnectDate.  So they should be live mailboxes, with an AD account.  So I checked them
and found one had an account - but was on another database on a totally different server (in fact, in the other DAG).  And the other belonged to an account that was deleted last November.
So, these two mailboxes appear to be zombies, with no life and no soul, but doomed to foil my plans to delete the database gracefully - they are all that stands between me and the success of my mission.  Now, I know I can take the database offline,
delete the database files, and bring them back online and that will kill these zombie mailboxes, but I was hoping someone had a way I can delete them gracefully so I don't feel like I've just used a sledgehammer on my servers.  I tried Remove-StoreMailbox,
but it requires that the mailbox have a status of either SoftDeleted or Disconnected - and from what I've read online, those are the only two accepted options.
So I come to you for possible guidance - keep in mind that these are totally unnecessary mailboxes and I have no qualms about deleting the database if that what it comes down to.  Anyone have any other suggestions?  Thanks ...
    Will

There were two active mailboxes showing from the "Get-MailboxStatistics -Database <database name>" command, even though the database showed no active mailboxes when running "Get-Mailbox -Database <database name>" command.  Neither of these
had a disconnected date, and neither showed a value in the Reason field.  Now for your answers:
    1.  One of these mailboxes showed as being on another database, same GUID, etc, and was able to be accessed on that other database.  However, Get-MailboxStatistics - Database <database name> showed that it also existed on this database.
We couldn't connect an account to this mailbox, nor could we delete it - the command (below) said the mailbox was on another database (which it was).
    Connect-Mailbox -Identity <mbx GUID> -Database <name of the database we wished to delete> -User <account SAM account name> -Alias <account SAM account name> -Shared -DomainController <domain controller>
    2.  The command was what I show above.
Post Mortem:  Since we had to delete the database, and since neither of them were needed, we just went forward with our work.  I was hoping we'd be able to remove these mailboxes gracefully, but none of the tools we had available worked for the
    job.
