Regards,
Resetting the phone will remove MfE mailbox from the phone. When you recreate the account, you can choose what gets synced in the initial sync and which part is authoritative, device or server.

how can i get this ipod reset.  She now has an iphone so this is going to be used by someone else in the family and should be simple to do but itunes just keeps booting it out even though it recognises that it was previously connected to our itunes account as all of the children were on my account

That has nothing to do with an update server. Do the following:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • Is there ANY way possible to MANUALLY restore factory settings for an ipod classic, FROM the device ITSELF (as opposed to restoring from iTunes or forcing a reformat elsewhere)?

I have 3 iPods:  1 Touch and 2 Classics.  The Touch and 1 of the Classics are both working fine; the other Classic is not showing up in iTunes, My Computer, or in Device Manager.  While I CAN do a simple reset, it accomplishes nothing, and I am UNABLE to get the faulty Classic into "disk mode".
Based on what I've encountered thus far, I have a suspicion that my faulty Classic somehow thinks it's formatted for the Mac, as I DO see the serial # and I do NOT see "Windows Format" in the About screen on the ipod itself.  Is that even POSSIBLE?  I have never used a Mac, but that's what the documentation I've read on this Support Site have lead me to believe.
The faulty Classic will charge ONLY in a wall charger; it clearly wants nothing to do with my laptop as it refuses to stand up and be recognized in iTunes or in My Computer....why??!!??    I DID try all of the other obvious troubleshooting items; I tried different USB ports, different cords, different laptops, and even different ipods.....BUT....all is well with everything else BUT for this pain-in-the-@$$ ipod.
IDEALLY.....since my ipod refuses to make itself available for me to "restore factory settings" via iTunes, the way it SHOULD be handled....., I'm wondering if there are any hackers out here that know of a way to FORCE a MANUAL restoration of factory settings of the ipod, via super-secret "key strokes" on the ipod itself (and not via the iTunes software that is curently useless for this particular ipod)....?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!  Without your assistance, my Classic ipod remains an expensive door stop and/or paper weight.  It's behavior at this point is nothing shy of rude and inconvenient!

There is no way to restore/reformat the device without connecting it to a PC or Mac.
Have you checked the iPod's dock connector for signs of bent/damaged/corroded pins that could prevent a full connection with your PC?  If there is any lodged debris, take a can of compressed air to it to blow it all out.

  • Can i retrieve a video once i have pressed restore factory settings? My iphone used to back up when i synched it?

I had a video of my uncle (who passed three days ago) on my old iphone. I used to synch my iphone on my windows computer and it would 'back up'. I 'restored factory settings' when i gave the iphone to my brother when i got a new one. I would really really love to be able to get this video back as it means a lot now my uncle has passed and we no longer have to opportunity to make more. Can anyone help?

If it is not on PhotoStream and you did not backup, it is gone.

  • TS3276 I use Mail for my email and lately, if I get an email coming in while writing one, the program freezes for a few seconds. Frustrating.

I have a 27" iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I use Mail for my email. Just in the past 2 -3 months, if I'm writing an email while another one is coming in to the inbox, the program freezes, the spinning colour ball appears and I can't continue typing for 5 seconds or more. I get and write a lot of emails so it's frustrating.
I've also noticed that sending messages is taking longer than it used to. The program spins its wheels for a few seconds before sending. Definitely noticeably longer than prior to this situation. Any ideas anyone?

  • I have restored factory settings but it is still asking for passcode

My daughter has forgotten the passocde to her ipod touch Gen4.  I put it into recovery mode & restored factory settings.  The iPod showed that it was being restored.  Now it is finished, the iPod is still asking for a passcode when we try to access it.  Have I missed out a step?

What Passcode? If the Restrictions passcode then you have to restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If a screen-lock passcode then restoring from backup will not result in restoring the screen-lock passcode.

  • HT1212 I forgot my passcode and i have no backup of my Ipad, it is locked and disabled, can anyone help to restore factory settings atleast as a new ipad

I forgot my passcode and i have no backup of my Ipad, it is locked and disabled, can anyone help to restore factory settings atleast as a new ipad

    Hey salosawaya,
If you have never synced your device with iTunes and you forgot your passcode, you'll follow these directions:
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

  • Z3 rebooted to factory settings while having it in my pocket, photos lost on SD card

My 3 day old Z3 rebooted to factory settings while having it in my pocket. I was out for a five hours walk and have used it serveral times during the walk to take photos. They were stored on the SD card. Battery was on 73%. At the end of my trip I noticed it asked for my pin code to unlock the sim card. I used my newly set pincode for simcard and it worked fine. The telephone was set up with screenlock as well, but that has disapeared together with all my installed programs and my photos and videos on the SD card. The lock screen goes automaticlay on after 15 sec so I find it strange that I should be able to push the right buttons, in my pocket, by just walking, to perform a factory reset?Any suggestions on why and how to restore my photos on the SD card?

This was Sony's answer to my question: Sophia:  Hi, just looking into this for you won't be long.Sophia:  I have had a read of the thread and due to the low number of people posting on the forum over the past year I ca confirm this is not a common problem. If you have already tried what has been advised on that forum and the issue has not been resolved, I advise running a software repair on your handset as this is most liekly to resolve the issue yoyu are experiencing.X:  that is Sony's answer?Sophia:  Yes.X:  and what about all the lost data and picturesX:  this is not an isolated incidentSophia:  I understand that it has been experienced before but there has been an extremely low number of people who have experienced the issue, it is not a known fault. As previously suggested, a software repair is likely to resolve the issue for you.X:  how do I recover the data that has been lost?X:  I must say, I was hoping for more support, from a support chatSophia:  Unfortunately once the data has been lost, there is no way to recover it I am very dissappointed in the level of care from Sony. Took a long time to get the final reply, and it's apparently not a known fault, so it's my problem. If it's happened to multiple people, it's a fault.

  • How to Restore Factory Settings on a Mac?

How to Restore Factory Settings on a Mac OS X 10.6.8?
I have been told you can do this without the Installation CD. I also do not remember the installation CD when i got the laptop. If it's possible then please someone let me know! if not then how can i get a new CD to do this?
my computer keeps freezing on me at random times, and i have tried taking the laptop to my college tech support and also Best Buy and they said they can't do anything and that i need to try resetting the mac.

You may not remember the installer disks but they came in the box. Your profile shows you are running 10.6.6 Snow Leopard. To restore back to factory settings you need those disks. That said to go that route may be unnecessry. Stay away from Best Buy tech people. They know nothing. Without the disks you do a repair disk to see if that helps:
Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
    At the command-line prompt type:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (name_of_volume) appears to be OKIf fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.

  • Formatting HD/restore factory settings?

I have an Imac G3 500mhz, currently running panther. I have lost my panther disks, however i have tiger disks. I want to either use the tiger disks to erase the HD and/or load tiger, or erase everything accet panther from the HD. However the imac does not have a DVD drive. I have an external DVD drive, but that only turns on when the imac is running - disabling me from booting up from the Tiger disks. Is there another way to load the tiger disks, possibly through my 20" core duo, or restore factory settings on the imac without a disk?
Would there be a way of delaying startup, so that the external DVD drive had a change to startup, and then run the tiger disk?
    Thanks in advance, Feron.
Imac 20" Intel Pentium 4 Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

PowerPC Macs (like the iMac G3) can't boot from USB drives - so that may well be the issue. Intel Macs can boot from USB drives.
① You could exchange your Tiger DVD for set of CDs.
    or
② Using a 6 pin to 6 pin firewire cable connect the two machines together. Place the Tiger Retail install DVD into the iMac Intel.
Go to  > System Preferences > Start-Up Disk > and click "Target Disk Mode". The iMac Intel will boot with a purple screen with a yellow Firewire logo.
Then restart/turn-on the iMac G3. Hold down the Option key (marked as 'alt' on many UK keyboards) and select the Tiger Install DVD and click the right arrow. (It takes longer than you think it should to load this screen so bear with it - it's checking for networked drives.)
Then the iMac G3 should start up with the Tiger DVD and lead you through installation. Remember using this retail disk you won't get any of the bundled OS 9 applications that came with the iMac G3 in the first place.
Remember you must use a Black coloured Tiger disk. The grey one that came with your iMac Intel won't work.
