Restore Game settings
Well an update to one app got corrupt and had to install APP again. Doing so I lost all saved games and progress. It is just for this one APP, eg. Angry birds star wars. Is there a way to go in with iexplorer and restore from a backup from time machine or have to restore from an old backup. The device already backed up again so it may have overwritten the device backup. Am I SOL?

Game center data - will I lose it if I restore factory settings?
This link is for profile settings I have a iPad and iPhone with the same Apple ID, but on Game Center I have used the same id for both devices and they are two different profiles and I was wondering how to have one of the accounts on both devices.
I couldn't find anything else using google.

I installed a fresh Lion system on a new HD and moved all my data there, but my iPad (running ios5) is synced to iCloud.
I'd now like to install some movies onto the iPad, so I apparently have to synch to iTunes to do this.
But syncing to iTunes would seem to erase everything on my iPad and restore, and wouldn't all my game settings and levels be lost?

Best way to restore game app data to iPad after rebuild
I rebuilt my UMBP over the weekend. Before doing so I took a copy of my documents, movies etc, and the entire iTunes library folder and placed it onto an external HDD. This was not a Time Machine backup, but a straight copy. After rebuilding, reinstalled latest iTunes and copied just the songs back across and re-authorized the library. I didn't copy the entire folder into the new place, but I still have all the items.
When I went to connect the wifes iPad for sync, it begins the whole "new device" process and must be "erased to sync." Problem with this is she has one or two apps on there with significant game data (Bejeweled for instance) that she doesn't want to loose.
Any advice on best way to resolve this, i.e. able to connect the iPad and sync to rebuilt machine without losing the data? Can I obtain the old backup(s) from the folder and use that or am I better just copying the entire folder across from the external drive onto the rebuilt machine. I did have a search and while there is plenty of backup / restore advice, nothing seems to match my situation 100%.

Message was edited by: MalMcA - Spelling correctionTry to backup manually. Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your device, right click on it in the device list and choose backup. This will copy all settings, photos and 3rd party data including your game settings to iTunes. Do the same thing to transfer your purchases to be sure to have the latest apps and media copied over.
Set up at least one contact and event on the computer, so that calendars and contacts are being merged during the first sync.
Since all data will be erased during this first sync, use this backup to restore your settings afterwards.

Right now i connected my iPhone 5s to my mac in iTunes it said that i should do a Restore Factory Settings, i wanted to know that if i do this will it delete my applications and Games from my iPhone or not.The Problem is that i cant get backup from itunes either,
because as i connect my iphone the page of tunes popups with the message "Restore to factory Settings" And when clicking on ok it will go directly to the restore iphone page . there will be no option to backup -
grandson loaded up the iPad touch we gifted him. iTunes (he uses a PC at home) says to restore factory settings. we understand that will wipe data from iPod touch - but we did confirm his "Minecraft" app and a half-dozen others were backed up as recently as 1 pm today. If we restore to factory settings, then "restore" his iPod from the iCloud back up, can anyone confirm his "gameplay" will also be restored as of the last backup? Not a gamer, never had this concern... I know his Purchased Apps are still on iTunes, but he's panicked about losing his minecraft "score."
Yes it you restore from iCloud backup game status will also be restore provided that the app is still avaialbe form the App store.

I want to put PG restrictions on my son's ipod, but no-one can remember the restrictions passcode. I heard I must restore factory settings to start over, but I need to keep the content of their games of minecraft. How do I do this?

Going from personal experience, mine is Mac formatted and only takes a few seconds to appear on the desktop.

Under normal circumstances the 5G iPod will restore directly from your computer without an adapter. I have one for travelling and they are worth having but I have never had occasion to use it during a restore.

If it is Windows formatted any software updates will have to be done on a PC. You won't be able to update on the Mac without changing the formatting. -
All my music was on prior to syncing. The sync deleted all my music. I can now no longer add any music. I have the "sync music" checked. Restoring factory settings did not work. Any thoughts?
When you synced with iTunes It would have tried to replace the music on the iPhone with what is on the computer. which is what happens when you sync with iTunes.
If the songs are purchased you can re-downloaded them Pretty easily. You mentioned that you still see the songs and that you could not play them. Do they have a Cloud symbol next to them? If so this means that you can download them but that they are not on the device. -
I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6. In the process, I ran into a problem and had to restore factory settings. After syncing the phone, I see that 218 apps need to be updated. When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download. There is not enough available local storage to download these items. You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone? Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:

I just recently got back from Iraq like 4 months ago and I bought the new Iphone 4. I didnt have my computer with me because I was moving to a new duty station. I just got my computer yesterday and I hooked my iphone to the computer. Instead of hit set up as a new phone, I end up clicking on restore previous settings. Now all my new pictures, contact, videos, etc, are gone. I have my phone with old stuff from over a year ago. Is there a way for me to get my current stuff back. Did itunes save it somewhere and I dont know how to get it. Please help me out. Let me know if I can get it back or not.
If you restored your iPhone rather than synching it, you've lost all that data.

I have 3 iPods: 1 Touch and 2 Classics. The Touch and 1 of the Classics are both working fine; the other Classic is not showing up in iTunes, My Computer, or in Device Manager. While I CAN do a simple reset, it accomplishes nothing, and I am UNABLE to get the faulty Classic into "disk mode".
Based on what I've encountered thus far, I have a suspicion that my faulty Classic somehow thinks it's formatted for the Mac, as I DO see the serial # and I do NOT see "Windows Format" in the About screen on the ipod itself. Is that even POSSIBLE? I have never used a Mac, but that's what the documentation I've read on this Support Site have lead me to believe.
The faulty Classic will charge ONLY in a wall charger; it clearly wants nothing to do with my laptop as it refuses to stand up and be recognized in iTunes or in My Computer....why??!!?? I DID try all of the other obvious troubleshooting items; I tried different USB ports, different cords, different laptops, and even different ipods.....BUT....all is well with everything else BUT for this pain-in-the-@$$ ipod.
IDEALLY.....since my ipod refuses to make itself available for me to "restore factory settings" via iTunes, the way it SHOULD be handled....., I'm wondering if there are any hackers out here that know of a way to FORCE a MANUAL restoration of factory settings of the ipod, via super-secret "key strokes" on the ipod itself (and not via the iTunes software that is curently useless for this particular ipod)....?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Without your assistance, my Classic ipod remains an expensive door stop and/or paper weight. It's behavior at this point is nothing shy of rude and inconvenient!There is no way to restore/reformat the device without connecting it to a PC or Mac.
Have you checked the iPod's dock connector for signs of bent/damaged/corroded pins that could prevent a full connection with your PC? If there is any lodged debris, take a can of compressed air to it to blow it all out.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
