Restore hp pavilion dv6 with disk
I need to restore my laptop. It keeps asking for the disk, but I never made any. Is there any way I can find a download?

Hi,
There are two options available.
1. You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - these will reinstall the operating system, all required drivers and nearly all of the original software ( the exception often being trials of MS Office ). They will also re-create all the original partitions, including the Recovery Partition.
Order HP Recovery Discs.
2. Another option you could consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - this is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn ( Note: You may want to de-select the additional software offerings during the installation of ImgBurn ) to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. The Windows Image source is Digital River.
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

Audio stop working in a Pavilion dv6 with vista enterprise 64
Hi guys,
I´m having a very strange problem with my girlfriend´s laptop. One month ago, we bought a HP pavilion dv6-1117es with Windows Vista Home 32 bits installed. I changed the S.O. to a new Vista Enterprise 64 bits. Everything works perfectly. Last week while she was working with MS Word, the sound system stops working. Nothing changes and the laptop didn´t show any errors. I made all the tests I could imagined without success. Frustrated I decided to reinstall the S.O. but there is no sound.
Steps done:
Review and reinstall drivers from HP. I also have uninstall all the items in the audio system and the laptop rediscover the hardware without errors.
I have tried any option both in the windows vista audio mixer and in the IDT application selecting any audio source possible.
I have updated the laptop bios into the latest version.
I have tried with several external speakers and I have the same result.
Also updated MS UAA.
Also restarted audio services
Symptoms:
The problem is that everything looks ok. The mixer shows the green bar up and down when I play any mp3 song. It seems to work in all the devices including external speakers, double speakers, SPIF line out and HDMI out. There is no red crosses or yellow warnings anywhere.
Please help me.
Thanks-HI Jaimese, yes I tried XP service pack 2 does not help.
I did a system reinstallation apparently that worked for all of 10 minutes,
then back to teh same thign. It must be a software issue.
Theonly time when it sort of worked was when the HP guy told me to uninstall the IDT drivers, then windows vista reinstalled it again.
I did a total clean install , meaning I wped the HDD clean through system restore that did nothing.
I don't know what to do. Well......... actually I do . If nobody takes responsability
A) return HP comptuer to retailer.
B) Take a trip to local Apple store. (yes they are expensive but at this point I should not have to do a clean install one week into ownership). -
HP Pavilion dV6 with Windows 7 64-bit / reimage failure
I ordered the software and driver media to restore the HP Pavilion dV6 laptop I own to it's original manufacturer's state. Seems like a relatively simple process but near the end of the process I get a recovery failure message! HELP! The failure logs read as follows.

20:19:49:75] Check c:\system.sav\logs\burnbootwarn.log
20:19:49:75] or, check c:\system.sav\logs\burnbootmerge.log
Can anyone help me understand what this means? At this point, I have a formatted hard drive with an unsuccessfully installed windows program.If you have a "ChkErrBB.CMB : Detect some error during PININST_BBV. error", please try the following;
1) Try Recovery - "Detect error during PININST_BBV – Fix: Set BIOS to Factory Defaults

Hi
We are using the DV6 with beats audio as a platform for our device.
In order for us to do that, we need to disable every filter, equalizer, noise cancelletion, etc' on the laptop.
How do we do that? any ideas?

Tried removing the pre installed norton av again no luck, things were getting a bit flakey after all of the install/uninstalls so restored it one more time but this time only installed windows live mail and the pre installed office starter edition and still cant log on to an email server
Unable to send or receive messages for the Kilmartin (sophie) account. The connection to the server has failed.
Server: 'mail.kilmartin.it'

Can anybody shed any light? its as if the restore image isnt working correctly as it used to work great on the original build?

To be more specific, I usually use my headphones with my laptop. The main problem is that when I use winamp and skype at the same time there's a weird thing happening:
If I get a skype sound, the sound switches from the headphones to the laptop speakers. After the skype sound is over it automatically returns tot the headphones. I'm using Windows 7, and I looked at Volume Control Options and i have 3 devices: SPDIF, Independent Dual Headphones and Speakers and Dual Headphones and I can not choose which one to use (for all softwares).
This is annoying (specially at night when I don't want to make any noise), if I get a skype call my speakers go wild and after the bip-sound from the call it all switches back to the headphones.
Can you help me set up this sound issue ?Solution has been found. Disable "Communications Heaphones" from Sound in the Control Panel.

Help Factory Resetting Pavilion dv6 1351nr
I'm trying to restore my Pavilion dv6 1351nr to factory settings. Unfortunately, I don't have recovery disks, and apparently don't have the recovery partition. I've tried going to disk management, and neither f11 or F while starting the computer are working; I just get a series of loud beeps.
I am semi-computer literate, however, nothing I've found in any of the forums so far is helping. I've downloaded all of the drivers from the hp website, but to no apparent avail.
Please help! I probably haven't provided enough info, so if you need any of that, just ask!

Copy File Fails during Recovery on Pavilion DV6 Windows 7
I need help! I have a Pavilion DV6 with Windows 7, my hard drive died so I bought a new one, it is just like the one that died. I ordered the recovery discs from HP When it gets to 98% on the 2nd disc I get the following message
Copy File Fails
From: D:\PRELOAD\BASE8.SWM
To: C:\RM\Image\BASE8.SWM
Press OK to retry
I have done this several times but it just comes back. I tried turning it off and starting over with disc 1 but it just does the same thing again.
Can anyone help me please? If you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7 license key attached to bottom of laptop , you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD for the version that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker.
Link to the Windows 7 ISO file downloads:
http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/
Get ImgBurn to burn the iso image to DVD using slow burn speed.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to convert the ISO file to a Windows installation on DVD or USB flash drive.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
Next go to your support and driver page to install the drivers/software you need, using the button at top of this page titled "Support & Drivers".

External Mic Doesn't Work Pavilion dv6
I've been trying to use an external microphone on my HP Pavilion dv6 with no success. Here are my specs:
HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 Product #A1U60AV
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit sp 1
IDT HD Audio Driver ver. 6.10.6381.0
I've tried the the Windows Control Panel sound settings and the Beats Audio Control panel without success.
I've updated the driver and seen no change in behavior.
The laptop seems to recognize that a microphone has been inserted because the Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Recording window "External Mic" icon info goes from "Ready" to "Default Device" when the microphone is inserted but the gray bar never goes green and I'm unable to record any sound.
I've confirmed that the microphone works on another device.
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Thanks,I feel for you.
Exactly the same thing has happened to my MacBook Pro, and it is SOOO annoying.
My external mic has been working perfectly for over 4 months (that's how long I've owned the machine), and by co-incidence after the latest update from Apple (that I ran over the weekend, I've not updated for a while before this), the external microphone when plugged into the audio-in socket has stopped working.
I can't believe that it is co-incidence that so many Mac users are having exactly the same hardware fault at exactly the same time (I've seen a few stories like this around the internet), so by conclusion I'm thinking it's the update potentially causing the fault.
I've re-installed OS-X, and reset everything to ensure it's not a configuration issue. The only thing I can't do is roll back the firmware to the previous version, unless anyone knows how to do that?

HP Pavilion dv6 Windows 7 Beats Audio Sound issue
Hi-
I am using HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7 and has Beats Audio installed. It is about 9-10 months old Couple of times in the last few months, the sound just screached and then the volume on the speakers went down tremendously. I have-
1. Confirmed that the latest drivers are in place
2. Confirmed that all audio setting options are set right
3. Confirmed that the device is working correctly (Through device manager)
2-3 weeks after the first such instance, the sound came back normal without any setting changes. Now I am facing the same issue-
1. Sound is very low on- Speaker, headphones and HDMI output
2. Sound is very low on- Skype, Yahoo messenger
It appears to be an hardware issue- if anyone has encountered such issue or know of any potential solutions, please share it.Thanks for getting back to me with that information!
I've got a couple of things for you to try.
First, try updating to the latest BIOS version F.1C. Download and install F.1C. Your computer will restart on its own during the installation. Allow it to restart and test it for sound issues. If you are still having the problem, move on to the second option.
2nd Option You have the latest audio driver version 6.10.6381.0 installed. There are two versions listed on your driver page which means some units may work better with one version or the other. Don't make any changes to the BIOS version you just installed, but roll back to the earlier audio driver version.
To do this:
Open Device Manager
Expand Sound, video and game controllers
Double-click on IDT HD Audio
Click the Driver tab
If the 'Rollback' button is enabled, click that and restart the computer.
If the 'Rollback' button is not enabled, click Uninstall, do not restart the computer
Download and install 6.10.6345.0 offered on this link and restart
Let me know the results when you get a chance -
DVD/CD/Blu-Ray Drive on HP Pavilion DV6 not working....
HP Pavilion DV6 with Blu-Ray
The DVD/CD/Blu-Ray drive suddenly stopped popping open or being recognized. I need to double check that there is nothing else I need to try to fix before having to buy a replacement part.
I've already tried....
1. reseting my computer back to factory settings (I know I had a virus or malware and then when it died I just decided to set the whole thing, but it didn't fix the dvd drive)
2. Removed cd. (I had to remove the drive to get the cd out. It was a library cd so I thought that the security strip on it might have caused a problem.)
After these two things it still isn't working. Everything else is fine. I just want to make sure there is nothing else I need to try or check before buying a replacement part.Hi RavenMidnight,
For the DVD/CD/Blu-Ray drive no longer ejecting, there is not much troubleshooting that you can do to resolve the issue. I have included the document 'Opening a Stuck CD or DVD Drive Tray (Windows 7, Vista, XP)'. This document will show you two ways as a work around for opening the drive. When you do have the drive open, double check to make sure that there are no obstructions in the path of the tray.
If there are not obstructions, and the tray is still not functioning properly. I have included the document for 'Steps for Removing and Replacing the CD or DVD Drive'.
Please let me know if any of these steps have resolved the issue, thank you.

Blue screen with error code and I have no recovery disks for HP Pavilion dv6-1260se
I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1260se with factory installed operating system of Vista. When booting up the computer, I receive a blue screen with this error message: STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}.
The verification of a KnownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly with
a status of 0x0000221 (0x007fb9c0 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.
I do not have recovery disks for this computer. I tried to order them but them seem to not be available. This is my daughter's computer. She says she started to have trouble after downloading Frost Wire (music share) and then she removed it. We tried going back to an earlier time and that didn't help and then the blue screen with error message appeared. What do I do now?
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi,
Assuming your in the US, recovery discs are available to order for that model here. That may be the best option.
You should also be able to do a recovery without the discs as well. Take a look at this document: Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery, and look for the section Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible. This should allow you to recover the PC.
