Restore iMessages after iPhone crash from iPad
Can I restore my iMessages from my iPad to my iPhone?
My iPhone crashed during the latest operating system update and I had to restore my phone to my last back up, which was unfortunately 2 months ago.
My iMessages are synced between my iPad and iPhone so all my messages are still on my iPad. Any recommendations on how I can bring those messages from my iPad to my iPhone?

Your itunes library is located here:
Microsoft Windows
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl

Replace the files on your new computer with the backups you recovered. Place your iphone backup in the proper location.
Authorize your new computer, store>authorize this computer.
Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected in itunes under preferences.
Make sure you have at least one contact and one calendar event in what ever program you use for that purpose on your pc.
You need to transfer any photos on your phone to your new pc before you sync.
When you connect your phone, select restore from backup & select the backup you placed on your computer. Make sure you have at least one contact and one calendar event in whatever programs on your pc you use for that purpose. At the prompt, when you sync, select merge data.

I can't start a conversation in iMessage with iPhone users (from iPad mini)
I can start a conversation with my friend that use iPad 2, but I cannot start a conversation with all iPhone users (I put their phone number). It says that the number that I inputted is not connected with the iMessage. So, I just cannot start a conversation unless they start the conversation first (they text me first by iMessage), then I can reply their message. Is there anything I do to solve this problem?
iMessage works with multipple emails and phone numbers.
If you dont have the correct iMessage ID (can be a phonenumber or email address) in your address boook you cant start the conversation.
When you create a new messeage and enter the recipient name you should see a blue bubble for the correct iMessage address.
If you dont see it check on your friends iPhone under Settings - Message - send recieve what address he is using for iMessage.
Sometimes it takes a few minutes until changes get registered at the apple servers -
Restoring mail after a crash from original system disk
I recently had a system disk crash. It was not hugely terminal - I can still read the contents of the drive, I just can't boot from it.
I have installed a new copy of osX on my computer and so I have an installation running and can see the old system disk as a hard drive on the finder.
I would like to retrieve my old mail files. Can I do this?
Alas time machine had a disk failure shortly before my system disk crash, and so I cannot restore from that backup. It never rains, but it pours.I agree with Akuma. It is definitely not Toshiba related issue and you should try to check some Microsoft forum and try to find final answer.

Can I restore a new iphone 5 from an existing 4GS backup and then still use the 4GS backup for another phone?
Sorry, a 4G. Its not my phone. its for my employer. He just got a 5 and wants both phones to use the same backup information in itunes.

If you connect and select iP5 in computer iTunes, in Apps tab, make sure the apps you want are checked before you sync.
Or on iPhone > App Store > Updates > Purchases > tap the app icon to re-download them. -
After transfering songs from ipad to cpu reference was lost in ipad, the song appears but reproduces the next one of the list in songs

You can only restore the complete iPhone from a backup; you cannot restore selectively.
To restore an iCloud backup first go to settings/iCloud and turn off Find my iPhone, then connect the phone to a power source and within range of an WiFi connection, go to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. When the reset completes you will be given the option to restore a backup. -
Restored tabs after a crash are very old tabs, not my last session: how to fix this?
Whenever Mozilla crashes, which is often, my most recent session is NOT restored!! I get the oops page with 2 options: restore session or start new. I click restore session and instead of bringing me back where I was with the video I was watching that crashed in the middle, it brought me to about 12 videos prior! :-/

@Media selector in CSS: how to tell iPhone 3Gs from iPad

I have a question concerning the capabilities of the @media selector.
From what I read in the documentation, @media, in AIR, supports these parameters
- os-platform (IOS, AND, MAC, WIN)
- application-dpi (160 = less than 200; 240=less then 280: 320: more than 280)
how does one tell if the device is iPhone 3gs or iPad?
both are IOS, both have application-dpi less than 200 (163 for iPhone 3, 132 for iPad)
it would be useful to use max-device-width, but I guess it's not supported? it's not working for me...
thanx!I've just fell on my face with the same problem. Apparently, there is no way to have different styles for iPhone 3GS and iPad inside the same application. @media selector does not let you do that. It wouldn't be a big problem if we could use theme swf files the same way we use them in Flash. But we can't do that either because loading executable code (which the theme swf is) won't work on iOS due to security restrictions. Please correct me if I wrong but it means that you can't have one application binary with different styles for iPhone 3GS and iPad.
What makes it worse, it is not that easy to reorganize your project to build two applications: one for iPhone 3GS, another for iPad using the same application project and different build scripts (ant). It would be possible if we could link a theme compiled as SWC library. But it doesn't seem to work if you have references to skin classes and images in your css. At least after multiple trials I couldn't make it work.
The only solution that comes to mind is to have two application projects: one for iPhone 3GS, another one for iPad. And keep everything else in libraries. I wish I could see its coming earlier so I would organize my project that way from the beginning.
It seems like a major flaw in design of the media selector. And not just because you can't support both iPhone 3GS and iPad in one application. For the same reasons you can't have different styles for iPhone 4/4S and new high resolution iPad (both have 320 dpi screens). It would be pretty easy to fix by just adding an additional tag to the media selector.
I wish I was wrong and there is a solution for this problem already. Please share your experience if you had the same issue. -
Imessage between iphone 4s and ipad (new gen)
I can not use imessage from between my iphone and my mother's ipad. I see on my iphone that I am able to receive at my number but I cannot receive from the ipad. I am able to facetime between my iphone and the ipad, but not send imessages to my number. The ipad is able to send imessages to my sisters iphone and I am able to imessage between other iphone. I do not know why it is just my iphone and the ipad that do not want to message properly. I have tried to reset setting on my iphone and and do a factory rest and it does not help. What can I do?
On your phone and your mother's iPad, are you using the same Apple ID in iMessage?
Settings > Messages > Send As > what does it show.
On your phone: Settings > Messages > Caller ID > does it show the phone number or email address? -

Plug the iphone in and go to the music tab in the iphone,not your itunes library.There will be a button in the borrom right that says autofill. Click that and it should thransfer all your music. It worked for me,and i had the same problem.

SMS messages not restoring to new iphone 4 from iphone 3g
Hi all
My wife has just got an iphone 4 and I have been able to restore all of her data from her iphone 3g except for her text messages.
I have tried a couple of times to restore and think that I get an error message that flashes up but don't get a chance to read it before the restore has completed. Everything else is OK including contacts, apps, photos etc.
iPhone 3G is 4.2.1
iPhone 4 is 4.3.3
Thanks in advace for any help.Could very well be the backup of the 3G is corrupt. Is all of the data still on the 3G? If so, you could try starting over. First delete any and all iPhone backups listed under iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices. Then connect the 3G and manually create another backup: right-click the phone in the left device pane & select "Backup". When complete, eject the phone. On the iPhone 4: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. When complete, connect the phone & try restoring from the fresh backup of the 3G.

As far as the Apple ID is concerned, the email address is just a user name. As long as you know the password you used, it should be fine.
