Restore in iOS 5 not restoring my preferences

I just had to restore for the first time since installing iOS 5 and the restore from my backup does not restore my preferences (wallpapers, sounds, settings, etc).  I have been using iPhone since the first gen and this is the first time this has ever happened.  Very aggravating.  Any one else running into this?

Yes I have the same problem. I've restored it twice today and given up in disgust.  I lost all my ringtones as well and although I have had advice on how to get them back it didn't work either time.
Hope someone out there has the answer.

Restore back up of my iPhone-password not recognised. After restore, itunes can not restore because it says the password is incorrect. But I can sign into my apple account with the password.  My iPhone is now set to factory settings as a new phone, what can i do to access the back up from my phone before I reset it.

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

  • History:Restore tab does not restore to the page listed

In Firefox 29, when trying to restore a tab that I just closed accidentally, History, Recently Closed Tabs, "the closed tab to be restored" takes me to my home page rather than the tab that I want to restore. How can I set Firefox 20 to restore the desired tab? The desired tab is listed but the link does not function properly.

Yes, CTRL-Shift-T brings up my home page. it works the same as going to History-Recently Closed Tabs- Select tab that was closed.

  • HT1386 If I synced my iPhone, but when it restored it did not restore my calendar.  Is there anything I can do?

I've lost my calendar after I updated, restored etc.  Any ideas?

As you can't see anything probably not .You could try a reset but likely you have damaged the screen internals

  • KDE 4.8, Restored session does not restore windows's minimized status

    Hi All,
When I logout or shutdown, I keep all my progs minimized, and KDE saves session.
But when KDE 4.8 starts, it restores saved session with all windows open. In 4.7.4 minimized state of windows was restored correctly.
Is there any fixes for this behaviour?
    Thanks.

My iPod is loched up. I downloaded a new update and now it will not restore.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • Trying to Restore Iphone, IOS 6.1.3 update Problems

I am trying to restore my ihpone. The latest software is updated to IOS 6.1.3, I tell itunes to restore my iphone. The restore function then tries to download the latest IOS 6.1.3, eventhough it has already been installed. Then while downloading IOS 6.1.3, although I don't need it, an error pops up and says it timed out.
How to I restore my iphone 4s?

There is nothing that you can do now except to restore the device. The iPad will not work until you restore the iOS. Don't your students backup? I would assume that iPads being used in the classroom would be backed up on a regular basis. If they do backup, you can restore the iOS, then restore from the student backup and either sync his content back to the iPad if you are using iTunes, or download it again in the various purchased tabs of the iStores on the iPad.

    pls help .

Hi ChrisJ4203 & Korl3one86,  i had the exact same problem. i connected my phone, then decided to finally update to the iOS6 (which i majorly regret because its rubbish) and the update wiped my entire phone. i saw it updating before the update occured and when i go to restore it non of my photos or msgs are there. it simply updates to a back up 3 months ago.
there is a "data restore" software you can purchase that will restore everything that has been on your phone, however it only restores what was already on your phone since the last time you connected to your computer. its stupid- it doesnt appear to restore for me anything that i dont already have.
there must be some way to extract all information that was on the phone prior to the restore, it must be lodged in the memory/ hard drive somwhere. can someone please help me. Ive lost all of my recent photos that ive taken since the last time i connected to  my computer in Semptemer 2012.

  • IPod not restoring

My iPod won't restore; I downloaded everything needed to restore, but when it says that it is verifying iPod restore with Apple, an error message pops up saying "The iPod could not be restored. Before this, my iPod was stuck on the apple logo, and so I was left with no choice but ti restore.

  • IPad set to restore during iOS 6.1.3 update

I have a student iPad that while trying to update the iOS to 6.1.3, the iPad went into restore mode. Is there anything I can do for this iPad other than restoring and losing all the student's data (we are not on iCloud because the stduent is younger than 13 and cannot have a personal Apple ID). Any help would be appreciated.

  • Ipod classic will not restore and will not work after many attempts

I have purchased and replaced 3 ipod models, This is my third one (80GB ipod classic) and with out fail after 1 year and 2 months after buying it, it stopped syncing with my itunes and now after 5 attempts to restore it will not restore and will not work. I am sick of this and find it preposterous. What is wrong with ipods..? what is wrong with my recent one?

I have tried to restore via itunes and I still get the same message on the Ipod after many many restore attempts."Use iTunes to restore" with the picture of a plug on the screen and then it just shuts down. Exactly 1 year and 2 months after I purchased it as was the previous Ipod I had in 07.... what is going on?
Are ipods not made to work with both macs and pc's? it seems they just shut down after a while
    what can I do?

  • After iOS 8 upgrade restore from backup not working

    Hi,
yesterday I've upgraded to iOS8. After three tries it worked.
But now I'm not able to restore my iPhone5 from Backup. It starts restoring. But the when it's done I've receive the error message without an error nr.
"itunes could not restore the iphone because an error occurred"
    Thats it
I've rewetted the iphone, tried on another computer to restore the backup, tried a different internet connection. Nothing. Everywhere the same issue. I've also tried to use a half year old backup just for fun. But the same issue.
I've disconnected other USB devices. No chance
Does anybody has a useful idea?
    Thanks.

  • HT1339 I was looking for info on restoring an iPod Touch 4th Gen. But iTunes presents the same Restore button, which when pressed, offers to update, not restore, to iOS 6.0.1. Why?

I found this article when searching for info on restoring (to factory conditions) an iPod Touch 4th Generation. Now I thought this shipped with iOS 5.x (x unknown). But as mentioned too briefly in the header, when I click 'Restore' in iTunes, it offers not to restore, but to update. That is not what I want. I need to use this iPod Touch with Xcode 4.2 under Snow Leopard.
So the question is: what is really going on here and why? Is it really true that 4th G iPod Touches ship with 6.0.1 instead of 5.x? If not, how can I get it to really go back to the original? Why is iTunes failing to offer a restore when I press 'Restore'? If I guessed wrong about which of my several machines running iTunes (some under Windows7, one under Snow Leopard)I used when I upgraded to iOS 6.0.1, would that explain iTune's failure to offer a true Restore?

Restore will not replace an old iOS level. It will update the iOS level to the latest level. If you have to restore youre iPod that is what will happen. The iOS is not a part of a backup.
