Restore iPad from iCloud backup

I need to wipe my iPad as it's running sluggishly and nothing else I've been able to do seems to fix the issue.  However, I don't see how to restore my iPad from the iCloud backup.

  • Erase all content then restore new iPad from iCloud backup?

I'm selling my iPad 3 today and want to get the new iPad 5 as soon as it releases.  Before I sell my iPad 3 I'm going to backup the device and then erase all content and settings from the device.  Will this also delete my iPad backup from my iCloud account?  I plan on restoring my iPad 5 from my iPad 3 iCloud backup.  Will this work?  Thanks for any help!

  • RESTORE iPAD FROM SPECIFIC BACKUP

    Hi guys,
I am currently running 4.2.1. WIth the hype of the new 4.2.1, I synched my iPad quite a few times. As a result, many backups were created. The problem is, I deleted a VERY important Note just after my first backup. I tried to restore the iPad form the backup, but iTunes only gives me the five or so most recent backups as options. I already Googled around and found the directory for the backups (User/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup), but there are many weird named folder and I cannot which one is from which time. Also, if I were to find the correct backup, how do I restore from that one?
    Summary:
    1) Please explain to me how to recognize the date (more precisely, hour) each backup was made
    2) Please explain to me how to restore form that specific backup.
    Thanks!
    iPad1,1 64GB WiFi-Only, 4.2.1 iOS

Are you sure you actually have the backup files on your computer? They are located at:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
As part of your computer's regular backup routine (assuming you have one) you should include this folder to ensure that you can always restore iPad from backup file (i.e. a backup to the backup).

  • Restore iPad from iPhone backup

    Hi
I'm a long time iPhone user. Just got an iPad. I have backed up my iPhone to my PC and then restored the iPad from the backup.
The restore from backup definitely isn't working.
I'm following all the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109
but it's not transfering messages, email accounts, wifi passwords, map bookmarks or anything that is listed in the list of backup-ed items here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
    Super frustrating!
    PLEASE HELP.

It's simply, you have to connect iPad with iTunes and right click it on the sources in the left sidebar of it. Then you have to choose from the menu "Back up" when it's done disconnect iPad and connect iPhone do the same thing but from the menu you have to choose "Restore from Backup" and then choose the iPad backup you did before.

  • Trying to restore ipod from icloud backup "trouble connecting to the server"

I'm attempting to restore my son's iPod Touch from his iCloud backup. It's connecting to WiFi just fine, then I tell it that I need to restore from iCloud backup, and it asks me to sign him in.
When I sign him in, it seems to accept it, then goes to the "Birthday" screen and asks for his birthday. When I put in his correct birth date, it then takes me to the "Terms and Conditions" screen, and I accept that.
The very next thing I see is a popup that says "Could Not Sign In. There was a problem connecting to the server."
Every time. No explanation of what this means.
I apologize if this has been answered already, but I've googled it and searched it in these forums for days with no real luck.
Anyone who can help, I appreciate it!

After two hours I learned that they "birthday" question is a creating a bug on itunes account server. In order to fix this problem you will need to go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and put another birthday date that is not the original birthday date you submitted. Pick a birthday that allows you to update your account. As soon as you do that and save it to your account the problem seems to be fixed.

  • How to restore Apps from icloud backup

    Hi,
My first post here. I did some searching but couldn't find what I need so I am trying to ask it now directly.
My iPhone 3GS is shutting down when phone is busy like trying to open camera, trying to play a game, trying to check an email. It shuts down and when I tried to power On it says battery is drained. But when I charge, it will power on and battery is back to where it was when it shut down.
Did significant reading around here in community and i did see lots of suggestions to reset my phone.
First try, I backup my phone in iCloud (while charging otherwise it wont finish). Then I reset my phone and select reset all (erase all data)
Then I tried to restore from iCloud backup.
Result: problem still persist on a newly restored iPhone.
Second try. I reset once again and choose start as new.Seems I can now check my email without shutting down.
Now to my question. How can I restore my apps from my icloud back up one by one.I only want to restore apps that carries my important files like images, FileApp.
Question 2: Do I have to buy and pay all my app again?
    Thanks

That is really sad . I guess I have to restore from backup and do all manual copies then reset again to make a fresh start.
I am once an iPhone fanatic that won't consider changing to other phones but now it seems that I have to reconsider.
I mean, it's great but "all or nothing" method is what apple is implementing from day 1. Like a basic example of iTune contents. Why cant you choose what to put on your computer/phone. Why does it has to delete all phone contents.
Anyway.. Thanks. At least now I know what to do now.
    Kudos

  • Is it possible to restore an ipad from icloud backup of an iphone?

I don't know if this is technically possible.  We have several iOs devices associated with one apple id, an iphone, ipad, and ipod.  I wanted to know if I can delete all the stuff from my ipad and restore it with stuff from the iphone. Thanks for any help.

    Hey there Crusauvage,
It sounds like you have an iPad you would like to restore from an iPhone backup. According to this article yes, you can:
    iTunes: About iOS backups
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
Only app data from App Store apps and sync settings will be restored to your device when you do the following:

  • Can't restore iPad from icloud

I Had the "unable to download item" issue after updating iOS recently. Forums suggested that I shoud restore the iPad 2 via iTunes and then restore content from backup. So I held down the two buttons while connecting the iPad to the computer and the system restore worked fine however when it came to restoring content it said that the iPad had not been backed up previously.I looked online in my iCloud account and there is definitely a backup there but for some reason it is not tied in with my iPad any more. Is there anything I can do about this?
    Thanks
    terry

Dont worry about this!!! I am a moron! Just figured it out. Thanks

  • Restore Ipad from Icloud

As a last resort I have decided to erase all content & settings on my Ipad. I have tried almost all tips to activate Face Time & Imessage after downloading ios 7.0.2 three weeks back but I could not succeed. I would be highly obliged if someone explain me in detail how to erase all content & settings and restore from Icloud back-up.

To erase the iPad: Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and Data.
When the iPad switches on and runs through the activation process, you'll be given the opportunity to set up as a new device or restore from backup. Choose restore from backup, then restore from iCloud. You'll be asked to login with your Apple ID.
The device will then restore from your iCloud backup.

  • How to restore Ipad from previous backup that is not the restore list?

I did a firmware update for Ipad from 5.1.1 to 6.1
I backup my Ipad before I did it at 4.46am
Then I restore my Ipad so it will install IOS 6.1
However I accidentally set it up as new device with a differrent name (default suggested by itune which is "AL's Ipad")
Then I try to select my previous backup called "Ipad 3"
But I cant see "Ipad 3" from my restore list.
So can I restore my "Ipad 3" backup?

If you went through the process of restoring your iCloud backup, then tapped Show Older Backups when asked which backup to restore to and the backup you're looking for isn't listed, there's no way to recover it.  You could check to see if you have an older backup on your computer that would have the data you're looking for by opening iTunes and going to Setting>Devices and checking the Backups list.

  • Restore iPad from older backup

I had my iPad wiped while on vacation because the wrong access code was entered too many times. (lesson #1: unpair bluetooth keyboard from iPad before throwing them in a bag). So my only option was to wipe everything and restore as new. Now being back home, I wanted to restore from the backup I had made on iTunes just before I left. Unfortunately, I did not check the "Prevent iPods etc from syncing automatically" in iTunes prior to plugging my iPad (lesson #2), so iTunes did a backup before I could realize what was happening. So now, I have only one backup available: the one just made, which is useless.
I do regular backups of my mac with Time Machine, so I'm hoping there's a way to get the older backup by accessing the files on TM. Only I have no clue where to look or what to look for. Help please?
    Thanks!

If you find the backup, you should be able to restore it To the iPad.
    iTunes: About iOS backups
Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.
