Restore iPad from Windows 7 file location

Is there a way to restore previous backup from Windows 7 sync folder to the iPad?
Thanks

Hello sabfa,
You may be able to restore from your previous backup by verifying that the file is in the correct location (\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\), then choosing to restore from the desired backup in iTunes.

  • RESTORE iPAD FROM SPECIFIC BACKUP

    Hi guys,
I am currently running 4.2.1. WIth the hype of the new 4.2.1, I synched my iPad quite a few times. As a result, many backups were created. The problem is, I deleted a VERY important Note just after my first backup. I tried to restore the iPad form the backup, but iTunes only gives me the five or so most recent backups as options. I already Googled around and found the directory for the backups (User/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup), but there are many weird named folder and I cannot which one is from which time. Also, if I were to find the correct backup, how do I restore from that one?
    Summary:
    1) Please explain to me how to recognize the date (more precisely, hour) each backup was made
    2) Please explain to me how to restore form that specific backup.
    Thanks!
    iPad1,1 64GB WiFi-Only, 4.2.1 iOS

Are you sure you actually have the backup files on your computer? They are located at:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
As part of your computer's regular backup routine (assuming you have one) you should include this folder to ensure that you can always restore iPad from backup file (i.e. a backup to the backup).

  • Windows 7 file location conventions and security

Would someone be able to direct me to a source of information about coding programs to work "The Windows 7 Way"? I'm looking for information about file locations, security settings, etc. I know that user data should go somewhere in the %userprofile% directory, that programs should go in the %programfiles% directory, that users can't typically write to the root of a drive (C:\), that Start menu shortcuts for games should go in the Games folder, etc. Windows 7 has changed from XP in the way a program needs to install, store data, and operate to function seamlessly, without getting security pop-ups, or turning the HDD directory structure into a mess. Is there a good resource out there, or some effective Google search terms I can use? The terms I've been searching for are not what I want.
    Thank you.

  • Unable to restore iPad from recent iTunes update.

So I updated to iTunes 10.7. Afterwards it told me I had to wipe my iPad 2 and restore it. After wiping my iPad however I am unable to restore it. It's stuck in recovery mode. So here is what I have done:
I have read support articles like this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
I have rebooted, reset, unplugged and re-plugged my iPad multiple times.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes three times now.
I have tried different USB ports.
I have tried to direct Windows Vista to the Mobile Device Support/Drivers folder however Windows can not locate the usbaapl.inf. It's there but windows doesn't recognise it.
I am tapped out here. Any advice would be appreciated, my iPad is a paper weight at this point.

Explain which way you tried to restore from a backup.
Did you try to use iCloud? If you did, what happened when you tried?
Or did you use iTunes and what happened when you tried that way?

  • Restoring bookmarks from Windows Easy Transfer

I need to restore my bookmarks from Windows Easy Tranfer.I saw the same question asked and answered but the answer didn't explain how to transfer the bookmarks manually. I did find a Firefox file and tried to import from the organize libraries drop down. It gave me the message "importing will replace current bookmarks are you sure...?" I told it to proceed but I don't see my bookmarks. What do I need to do to solve this?

It depends if you included the Mozilla directory in your transfer.

  • Viewing / Controlling iPad From Windows 7?

I found a lot of applications in the App Store that allow you to connect to your Windows 7 PC from the iPad. What I would like to know is.... is there an app that would allow me to view and control my iPad from my Windows 7 PC?
I am imagining what such a program would be like. A window (on my PC) would open displaying my iPad. I could then use my mouse to do things such as move icons, launch and use apps, etc. Basically everything you can do if you were sitting at your iPad.
    Thanks!

Yes but iTunes only allows you to sync content from iTunes (on the PC) to the iPad. I was not aware that iTunes allows your to control remotely your iPad.
FYI the reason why I am doing this is I have a demo I am going to do next month. The demo involves having 5 iPads running on my network. It would be very nice if I had a central location (my PC) to remote to each of the iPads and control them (launch apps, etc.). Otherwise I will have to walk over to each iPad to manage them.

The password would be either your iTunes ID password or your admin password for the Computer.

  • Can't restore iPad from icloud

I Had the "unable to download item" issue after updating iOS recently. Forums suggested that I shoud restore the iPad 2 via iTunes and then restore content from backup. So I held down the two buttons while connecting the iPad to the computer and the system restore worked fine however when it came to restoring content it said that the iPad had not been backed up previously.I looked online in my iCloud account and there is definitely a backup there but for some reason it is not tied in with my iPad any more. Is there anything I can do about this?
    Thanks
    terry

Dont worry about this!!! I am a moron! Just figured it out. Thanks

  • After I restore bookmarks from a json file and they display correctly in the browser, why the next time I start Firefox4, do the old bookmarks display?

Three times I have restored from a bookmarks json file and each time the bookmark folders display showing the new bookmarks but each time after I exit and restart FF4, the original bookmarks that were replaced by bookmarks from my json file reappear. The restore process seems to work exactly as it should but new bookmarks are apparently not saved since the old ones display each time I restart FF4.
I am using WinXP on an older Dell laptop with 2Gb memory and current FF4 as of April 23, 2011.
I don't know what to do to make the new bookmarks become permanent. Help?

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Restoring backup from a .dbk file

    Hi,
I have taken a backup from my Sony Ericsson cell phone on my laptop. This is a .dbk file.
I would like to restore this (at least the contacts list) on my new BB Curve. Please guide me.
    Thanks,
    Meghana

Great question! Please ask Sony how it is possible to convert and/or extract that information from the Sony backup file. As this is a RIM BlackBerry forum, we can help you import or sync that information to your BlackBerry once you have extracted the contacts from the .dbk file.

  • Problem in connecting to sqlplus from windows batch file (DOS)

    Hi All,
We have a new 10g Oracle database installed on windows server. I am trying to write a windows batch file to
    1) Connect to SQLPLUS
    2) Execute a script
    3) Disconnect from SQLPLUS.
    Example File Name:- execsql.bat
    SET ORACLE_SID=CAUT
    SET SCHEMA_IN=%1
    SET PASS=DEV
    SET script=%2
    sqlplus %SCHEMA_IN%/%PASS%@%ORACLE_SID% @%script%
if %errorlevel% NEQ 0 echo ERROR: %ERRORLEVEL% else echo OK
Now if i run this bat file like :- execsql.bat DEV script1.sql
    DEV= schema name,
    script1.sql = this file contains select * from dual;
The code runs fine, but if i change dual to dual1 the sql error's out but not able to catch the error in the batch file.
Reason why i would like to catch the error is this batch file would be scheduled through Autosys job scheduler and for autosys any exit code >0 is an error. Please help me in rewriting this batch script.
    Thanks
    Sam.

    Hello,
What if you run this in SQL*Plus before you run the SELECT:
    whenever sqlerror exit failure
