Restore iPad with out a Computer ?

Hello,
My nephew got a new iPad mini for Christmas, unfortunately he created a password and forgot it, and now he is locked out of it.
It was not sync'd with iTunes, backed-up'd to iCloud nor is find my iPad turned on.
I was hoping to recover it using a computer, a rather slow Dell machine with Windows 7, but I kept getting Error 9006 ( or was it 4 ) sorry I can not remember, but no matter what I tried I could not fix it, mind you I spent a good part of my Christmas day trying to figure this out, when I was suppose to be visiting with my family downstairs. ( my wife was getting a little angry ! ) LOL !
In hindsight a faster solution would have been to take it home, fix it and then bring it back, but I live 40 min. away.
My question is, yes I finally get to it.
Is there a way to restore the iPad with out a Computer, or iCloud ? The iPads run so independent nowadays it seems like there should be a way, but none of my searches have turned up anything.
I will probably end up taking it the Apple store or bring it home, but I just want to know just in case.
  Thanks
   John

The simple is answer is no. I could go into a long explanation based mostly on assumptions as to why Apple designed the device this way, but...
Have you Googled the error code recieved from itunes?

  • How to get movie files on my iPad with out a computer

Can you please let me know if there is any way that I can put my movie files onto my iPad 2 with out having a lap top or a computer with me when I head order sea's. Please email the response to my [email protected] address. I am trying to find a way that I can add my movie files onto my iPad when I do not have access to a computer but I have access to the Internet.
    THanks

Where are these movie files now? You can't copy DVD's directly onto it, so you'll need some kind of computer to access them to get them on the iPad.
If you can get them into a cloud storage app such as Dropbox, you can then view them on your iPad.

  • HT6208 Hw do I update my iPad with out the computer?

I can't figure out how to actually get the update to work!!

    Go to Settings->General->Software Update
It will automatically check for updates and prompt you to download and install any new updates available for your device.
PS:Your iPad should be connected to the Internet.

You can't unlock it without losing data. It's too late for that now. You totally erase the iPad when you unlock it and you will have to start all over again. Most of your purchased content can be downloaded again.

You can't. But the buyer more than likely restored it because he/she could not use your Apple ID.

Import the videos into iTunes on your computer and use Home Sharing to stream the videos to the iPad. These should get you started.

  • HT1535 I own an iPhone4, an iPod 3rd generation and an iPad 2. I use the same iTunes library but unfortunately synced iPad with a different computer before syncing to my own. Do I risk losing the films/apps I've downloaded onto my iPad if I sync with my i

I don't want to sync what is on my iPod to my iPad. (I have a 32gb iPod but only 16gb on iPad. The iPod I use mostly for music.) I can't seem to add the films I have downloaded onto iPad to iTunes. If I could do that, I could erase them from iPad to create more storage.
    This is intensely confusing, sorry.

    Question.....
"I own an iPhone4, an iPod 3rd generation and an iPad 2. I use the same iTunes library but unfortunately synced iPad with a different computer before syncing to my own. Do I risk losing the films/apps I've downloaded onto my iPad if I sync with my iPod?"
    Answer.....
Yes you will lose the films that you downloaded to the iPad when you sync with your own iTunes unless you transfer the purchases into your own iTunes library. Were these movies that you purchased? If so, you might be able to download them again for free. Do you have multiple computers that you sync from or is this someone else's purchased content?
You can select whatever you want to sync to all of your devices in iTunes, you do not have to sync the same content to all device.

I have synced my iPad with my Apple computer because I do not want to lose all the information (contacts, photos etc.) I have on it in case it is stolen or breaks.  Can I now view all this information on my computer and if so how do I locate it?  Thanks.

You can also backup to iCloud; see what is backed up.

  • Can I purchase and turn on iTunes match from my iPhone 5 with out a computer? And if so how?

Can I purchase and turn on iTunes Match from my iPhone 5 with out a computer? And if so how?

You can't do it from your phone. If they are iTunes purchased songs then you should be able to copy them to your laptop via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. For music from other sources, anf i you haven't got them on your backup of your library, then you will need a third-party program on your computer to copy them back - there are some listed half-way down this page which might work : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Accidentally Restore iPad with wrong iPad image

Hello.  My mom has an iPad with iOS 8.1.2.  When she plugged the iPad into the computer she accidentally told iTunes to restore the device with an image from another iPad.  This completely removed her photos and videos she had saved.  She did not have the iCloud on and had never synced with a computer.  I've tried using the programs that help recover data but they don't show any deleted photos or videos.
Do you all know if iTunes stores the pictures somewhere on the PC before it restores an image?  Any other ideas on how I could recover this data off the iPad drive?
    TIA
    Josh

The only way to recover here photos and dats would be from a proper backup on her computer and the backup of her photos from wherever she saved the, If she did not backup or save her important information and photos they are lost.

  • Restoring iPad with dead battery - stuck in itunes logo

How to charge iPad 4 if not booting only itunes logo and need to be charged to complete restore process??
tried to charge it from laptop in itunes also tried the wall charger but nothing, it stuck at itunes logo and not
charging until it gives a red battery logo and start over again.
also when trying to restore it gives me iPad cannot be restored Unknown error code 14 that because it's
not charged and disconnected during restore process.
    any Solution??!!
And why don't you "Manufactures" make it completely charge only if powered off and not boot when its 5% and complete charging after booting.

    (A) Charge the battery
    (B) Force iPad into Recovery mode.
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • Restoring iPad with Apple Configurator

I have been using Apple configurator to maintain a classroom set of 30 iPads.  We just finished our first use in a class where we had to manually download courses and books onto each iPad (these are being loaned out to different classes).  While I know configurator is unable to put on iBooks, restoring to a clean backup (with all iBooks and Courses deleted) doesn't get rid of the books and associated data (like highlights).  Is there a way to completely wipe the iPad to factory settings?  Or does the ibook/iTunes U course data need to be deleted on each device?   Any ideas?

create and deploy a backup that doesnt have epub metadata in it.
if you have a restore image with the same UDID as the device and the one of its previous backups, the problem is you have itunes checked to sync books when you imported the backup into config'erater.
if you import a backup of a device with no .epub location data, then cant put them on there
you may also be able to go into itunes and delete the appdatastore content for ibooks, ensure the sync option for ibooks is unchecked, construct clean backup, import, deploy.
