  • HT1688 cannot restore iphone error 2001

My iphone 4 shut down today only get the apple logo and usb connect to itunes logo.  Tried to restore in dfu mode and restore mode but keep getting error codes 2001 21.  Is there a solution?

No info on "error 2001", but for error 21 on a PC - temporarily disable all security software (firewall, antivirus, etc.) running on your PC when updating or restoring.

  • Restore iPhone error 14

My IPhone 5 suddenly turned off and can not be turned on.
It prompts me to use connect to iTunes . I have done all iTunes updates but it says it cannot be restored due to error 14.
It restored correctly once this weekend and functioned for all of an hour before it died.
I'm afraid I'm within days of the one year  warranty. Because I live in a rural area I can't get to a Rogers or IApple store I cannot conveniently take it in for replacement or repair.
I've had nothing but problems since I updated to the os7:(

  • Trying to restore iPhone - error code 21

I am trying to restore an iphone using itunes and I keep getting the error code 21.  The phone was dropped in water and dried and now it won't turn on or anything, it just displays the apple icon when on charge.  I can get it into download mode in itunes by holding home key and power key and the restore starts but keeps coming up with the error code.  I have followed everything on the apple supprt articles, have turned off firewall, deleted antivirus software, deleted temp folder, tried to edit the host file but it is empty (yes I am adminstrator user) and I still can't get past this error code.  I have even tried it on a different computer and still having the same error code come up.
I ran the diagnostics in itunes and came back with the error that no device was connected - yet you can clearly see it in the panel on the left of itunes that there is an iphone connected.
When I do connect it to itunes, it goes to restore the phone, extracts the software and says its preparing phone for restore and this is where it stops each time.  I am using the latest itunes and iphone firmware - both updated when I began this.
Can anyone please help with this?  This phone is about to go for a long flight instead of a swim this time!!
    Thanks

Hope you have managed to sort this now or did your phone go for a long flight? I have recently had the same problem, although mine is a 3GS rather than a 4 (but surely shouldn't make too much of a difference!) and have tried all the advice too but to no avail!
Shall I try again or just give up and buy another phone?
    Thanks.

  • Can't restore iPhone error 1015

Was trying to sync my iPhone in iTunes and it said it needed to upgrade so I said ok and now it won't restore because of error 1015 what do I do?

    try this
    hat is iPhone DFU mode?
DFU mode is a state that you can put your iPhone into where it can interface with iTunes but does not load the iPhone operating system or boot loader (this is what really differs DFU mode fromrecovery mode). DFU stands for Device Firmware Update.
What is DFU mode used for?
The primary reason people need to access DFU mode on their iPhone is to change the firmware on the device. This can serve to downgrade to a prior iPhone firmware and operating system, or to use a custom firmware that is required for a jailbreak or SIM unlock. For instance, if you got theiPhone OS 4 download installed and decided you would rather have a prior version of the firmware on your iPhone, you would need to do this through DFU mode.
How to enter iPhone DFU mode
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected
When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black
Even though the screen is black, that doesn’t mean the device can’t be interfaced with either iTunes or a custom firmware client (for jailbreaking, etc).
Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode. Again, DFU mode is signified by having a completely black screen on the device. If anything else is the case, repeat the steps above until you enter into DFU mode successfully.
    Exit DFU mode on iPhone
The simplest way to exit out of DFU mode is to hold down the Home and sleep/power buttons on the iPhone while connected to iTunes. Then just hit the power button as and this should reboot the device as usual.
And if you’re curious, yes this works all the same on an iPod touch.
The most common use for DFU mode is to jailbreak. It’s not unusual for people to buy an existing iPhone and jailbreak the device to use the phone on another network or overseas, this is often a cheaper way to get an iPhone than to sign into a contract with AT&T, pay roaming charges, or pay the full iPhone 4 price. This is assuming you can find someone with the new iPhone that will sell it, considering how tight iPhone 4 availability and demand is at the moment, that might be difficult!

  • Can't restore Iphone - error 28

    Hello
I'm trying to restore a friends Iphone. I've been trying for over a week now. I have the latest upgrades/updates - 3.1.2 and it seems to be going good. Then it bombs out and gives me error 28 Iphone could not be restored. Why and is this a software issue. I have ports open and my itunes is up to date - version 9. I read of a lot of people having this seem issue and very few have found a answer. Is there a way to go back update wise and just stay at a lower version to this issue is fixed? And does the restore need to be from their computer?
    RevClyburn

all thats happening is we are being ignored. that said its a software issue try restoing as a new phone by plugging into itunes hold the power button and the home button down at the same time till itunes says it has found a phone in retsore mode and follow the on screen promts do not restore from a back up you could be importing the problem.

FYI, your profile states "iPhone 3G, iOS 5.1.1."  This is not possible since the iPhone 3G won't accept iOS beyond 4.2.1.  Do you have an iPhone 3GS?

  • HT4972 itunes cant restore iphone error 21

Just hold down the power button on the iPhone and then slide the power slider over.
If you are stuck on the Apple logo, hold down the power button and home button together until it shuts off.

try restarting your computer i had that problem i unplugged my phone from itunes restarted my computer and then it worked

  • Please Help: Attempted install of new IOS 7 for iPhone - cell then requested to be plugged into iTunes - told it was in recovery mode - tried to restore - got error 4013

After attempting to install the new update, my iPhone is requesting to be pugged into iTunes. On the screen is a picture of iTunes and a cord. When I plug it into my MacBook air it will no recognzie it - though it did so in the past. I attempted a number, if not all, suggested I could find posted but nohting worked. As per one reconmondation, I have attempted to plug it into my PC (Which I don't use often - so I had to do all the updates). My PC recognized the phone and said that my phone was in recovery mode. So, I allowed iTunes to do its thing - iTunes said it was installing updates and recovering the phone (which took about an hour). When it was done, iTunes informed me that the phone needed recovery. So, I clicked recovery. It went through its thing then popped up with an error message 4013. When I requestion further information (button on the bottom), it opens a blank workd document (not really sure what that is about). After the error message, I reset the compuer and plugged it back in. Clicked the restore button but I received the same error message again.
I have also tried to plug it back into my Mac but still no luck.
On both my Mac and PC I have
    - Done all the update to both software and iTunes,
    - Reset the computer (multiple times)
    - reset the phone - but the picure of iTunes and cord remains
    - tried different cords
    - disabled my security settings
    - tried different USB ports
I am at a loss. This is my only phone so I am unable to call apple support. Plus I live in a small town, so there are no apple aproved stores near by.
Thank you in advance for your help

Spent hours trying everything suggested and finally this morning hit on a solution. iTunes must be run as an administrator. Even though you are logged into your PC as an administrator, using the iTunes shortcut does not make you an administrator in iTunes. I found this out by using the diagnostics in iTunes and reading through the results report.
I am using Windows 7, so I clicked the start button and right clicked on iTunes and selected "Run as an adimistrator". The first restore attempt got the 4013 error. I then did the DFU thing, hold power and home buttons for 10 seconds, release power and continue holding home for 10 more seconds.
iTunes gave me the restore message and I clicked it. I clicked the restore iPhone button and it started. The drivers loaded a couple of times. I got the apple logo with the progress bar and this time instead of disappearing, it started to fill in.
End result, a successful restore to factory settings and a happy 14 year old.
    Hope this helps others.
