Restore iphone backup

Hello.  I need to restore my iPhone backup.  I do not ever remember password protecting my sync/backup.  The restore is asking for a password.  I do not know what to do.

I do not know what to do.
You cannot used the encrypted backup without knowing the password.
Try to remember, if you don't, this is a security feature and cannot be bypassed.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and choose set up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

  • How to restore iPhone backup from a new Windows laptop?

I am using iPhone 4S and my phone went to recovery mode while updating iOS 8.1
Phone got started after a while and I am having backup of the phone in iTunes as well but unfortunately, I am not able to restore the backup!
I have copied the backup from %appdata% -> Roaming to my external hard disk!
So, is there any way to restore it from a new laptop while using my external hard disk?
I would appreciate if someone will let me know the necessary steps!

Really?  Why would you do that?
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone to your comptuer.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
You should import any pics taken with iphoen to the new computer, as you would with any other digital camera.
You can e-mail the pics that you synced to the iphone to yourself.  They will not be of the original quality.
If you enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new comptuer, then when you sync, you should get the option ot merge the data.
    No backup is not good.

  • Restoring iPhone, backup fails...

Today I've decided to restore my iPhone to factory defaults. I would like to backup the entire phone, so when I've initiated the resture I also initiated the backup. Backup was successfull and the restore began.
Restoring went without difficulties, then when I've gotten the choice to restore the backup and click to start it, it started to complain about my harddrive not having enough backup space to finish the restore. I thought that was weird, because the backup should already be on my PC, right? But what the heck, it's not the first time iTunes makes me do weird jumps, I'll free up some disk space (I'll admit, there was only a few GB's left). Done that, I try to restore from my backup. But... it was nowhere to be found?!! There was a new backup that iTunes made of the clean install, but all the old backups are gone?!?!
I've searched my user directory (C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync) folder in the hope that they're still there and iTunes is just being a big baby, but they weren't there.
Now I find myself sitting here with an iPhone clean install with no settings backed up and lost about 300 photo's/video's. I'm already fearing the worst, but I'm still gonna ask it here: is there any chance getting any data back???
Don't be afraid to get a bit nerdy, I am a bit nerdy...
    I thank you in advance...

Hi I read your message and I had the same problem!!I saw nobody answered until now.How did you solve it?please help!

  • Restore iPhone backup from somewhere else?

I'm using iTunes on my Macbook Air to access my iPhone. I have created a backup from my iPhone in there.
I was wondering how it is possible to restore that backup from any other Mac computers, like my iMac at home?

You asked whether the backup created with itunes on your Macbook Air would be accessible on your othe Mac computers and I answered that it would not be.  The backup for is kept in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/  Now you are asking a deferrent question about having ht ebackup on an external device... for that read this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3421834?start=0&tstart=0

  • Error: "not enough space to restore iPhone backup" but..8+gb free

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 4 running ios 7.0.6. Since it's pretty slow I decided to try backup&restore. Opened iTunes (updated at the latest version yesterday), created a backup (took only a couple of mins, while it used to take dozens at least. Not sure if this is a good thing since the progress bar didn't show the step from 1 to 7 but only a continuos progress bar with no caption but "backing up"), hitted the "restore backup" button, but a couple of minutes later a pop up said "Can't restore your backup because there's not enough free space on the iPhone" (or something similar). The iPhone rebooted as usual.
I saw tons of discussions with this topic but the problem is I have almost 9 gb of free space in a 32gb total capacity!
    What can I do?
    Thanks for your help,
    Andrea

Sorry I missed that important bit of detail.
    I would try the following:
Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes completely, then trying to restore from backup. (You may want to follow their guide to uninstalling iTunes and related applications since there's a specific sequence to that. More here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 )
Alternatively, and this may take longer but I've found it helpful in the past, try restore to factory settings once and then, after activating your iPhone and logging in as you, try restore from backup, but from the backup from before your iOS update of course.

  • Restoring iPhone backup from previous phone to new one

    Hi All,
I have just created a new iPHone in my iTunes it actually the same (1st generation iPHone) but I have updated to 2.0 and in the iTunes instead of restoring to original backup that I did before upgrading. I have selected to create a new Iphone. Now I have new iPHone shows up in iTunes but it's missing all of my camera photos and SMS, call history and favorites, and I'm sure I will find more things that are not on this new iPhone.
    The question is:
How do I go back and upload the backup from the old 1.1.4 Iphone into this new one that I have created in iTunes

You know, I don't know if you want to help or just tried to be an * But either way.

  • Restoring iPhone backup to iPod touch?

    Hi guys!
Due to hardware issues, I'm replacing my first generation iPhone with a used 1st generation iPod touch. Is it possible to save my progress in the applications I've used on my iPhone? I tried restoring my iPod touch from the iPhone's backup, but that didn't seem to bring the applications over--maybe I'm doing something wrong? Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    ~Lyssa

Restore your new iPod from the old device's backup.
If any application's progress or settings don't transfer, this is most likely the fault of the developer and you'll need to contact him/her for what to do.
In my case, the 4 apps that didn't transfer were all from the same developer, who cannot be reached!

  • Restoring iphone backup

Yesterday i had to have my iphone 3g replaced - not a prob as I had a backup so whilst instore I handed over my wiped iphone.
Came home went to restore and my apple id password is not being recognised!!
How do i find out what my previous passwords were or get round it?
I currently have lost all my contact details Help!!

The password to password protect your iPhone's backup can be anything including your Apple ID password - it doesn't have to be your Apple ID password.
If you have a Mac, you were provided an option to store the password for your iPhone's backup in your Keychain and you can get the password from there.
If not and you don't remember the password, you won't be transferring the backup for your previous iPhone to your new iPhone.

  • HT1688 Restoring Iphone backup

I replaced my son's Iphone 5 today because it had a broken screen.  Before doing so, I backed it up to my computer under his name.  However, when they gave us the new phone, it is now under my husband's name and it won't recognize the back up on my computer.  What do I need to do to retrieve the back up on his new phone and change the name to his???

  • Restoring iphone backup from itunes account with multiple phones.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can please help.
    Problem as follows:
Backed up/synced both my wifes and my iphone 4 to the same itunes account on Macbook. Wifes phone gets stolen, so get myself new iphone 5 and new Macbook. Managed to set up and get my data onto new phone without any problems, so all sorted.
I now want to pass on my old iphone 4 to my wife, but I cant restore the back up from her stolen phone on the old Macbook as itunes seems to only recognize and associates this phone with its last back up containing my data. Is there anyway that I can restore from the stolen phones backed up data? I have tried restoring the phone to factory settings, but then I still only get the option to restore from that phones original back up.
Would be grateful for any help.
    Thx

Yes it is possible. Just log in on both phones using the same iTunes account info.
As far as synching goes, iTunes remembers the info you want synch'ed on each phone separately.
If you download an app on one phone and pay for it, it will be free to download on the 2nd phone as long as you use the same iTunes login

  • Restoring iPhone Backup Files Without a iPhone

    Hello,
I had a iPhone 5 32GB that I recently lost. Because Sprint didn't have the replacement plan at the time of purchase, I'm out of a phone. I have a backup that contains my photos and videos (more important than the music) before my phone was lost. I do remember when I did the backup on a friends PC computer (encrypted) I'm still able to view the backup file. Is there a way I can take that backup file and copy it to my macbook without loosing or damaging anything? Are there any 3rd party apps out there someone can recommend?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

I was horrified to open my Voice Memos app earlier this evening and discover a distinct absence of recordings, as well. I downloaded iExplorer and, without purchasing or registering the software, was able to recover my memos from a backup.
    Download here: http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/
Upon opening iExplorer, chose "Continue with Demo" in the bottom right corner. Chose "Backups" on the right, under "Explore." A dialog box will prompt you to "Use Last Backup" or "Refresh." Click "Use Last Backup."
From the list of folders you now see, open "MediaDomain>Media>Recordings." Your voice memos are the files of type M4A. Simply select those files and drag them into a new folder on your desktop. You can then add the files from the folder on your desktop to iTunes and make a playlist or whatever else your heart desires. The dates and times of the memos seem to be lost, but at least the recordings themselves were salvagable. Hopefully this process resolves your issue. Good luck!
Also, I think it would be in our best interest to take a lesson from this, and manually backup our recordings on a regular basis from this point forward.

  • How do i restore iPhone backup

I sync my iPhone to a PC running Vista. I had to make some radical changes to Outlook, and when I synchronized afterwards my entire calendar AND contacts directories on my iPhone were completely empty. I recall that iTunes makes a back-up of the iPhone just before a sync... so how to I restore the iPhone from that back-up? I see a button for Restore, but it says that will restore to factory defaults. I just want to roll back to a restore point just prior to the last sync.

  • Iphone Backup restore Help please

Does anyone know how to restore your backup after the "restore iphone backup" option is gone, Without having to restore the phone again

Turn the iPhone off by holding the top key then sliding to OFF.
The Hold the Home KEY only while connecting to iTunes.
The iPhone will then need to be restored and you can choose from where to restore it from. It should pop up when you click restore with the option. If not then hold Control or Option on a Mac while you click Restore.

  • How to us iPhone backup file from Time Machine drive to restore iPhone

Stupidly, I deleted my primary account on my iPhone that contained my contacts and calendar. I don't currently subscribe to MobileMe. I took advantage of the free service when I bought my phone, but decided not to subscribe as I synch my iPhone to my computer and back up my computer using a hard drive connected with Time Machine. Unfortunately, when I stopped using MobileMe, a synch to my iTunes wiped out all my contact data in my Address Book on my computer and my calendar. Therefore, all my most current information was on my iPhone.
I went to the Apple store and was told that the iTunes backup file may be used to restore the contacts and calendar information on my iPhone. I synched my iPhone to iTunes and then did the iPhone restore to factory settings. Only then did I realize that the older, correct backup file was not an available option in the dropdown.
So, I'm trying to figure out how to pull an older iPhone backup file and then use it to restore the iPhone. The only thing is that when I go to Time Machine and look at an older Library --> Application Support --> Mobile Sync --> Backup folder, there's a whole bunch of .mdbackup files in there.
How do I select what I need? How do I get the iTunes protocol to run the restore on my iPhone using those files?

Select the folder that contains the .mdbackup files and use Get Info for the folder to check the date the backup was updated. I would forget about trying to extract individual .mdbackup files and transfer the entire folder to the same location on your computer's hard drive - with iTunes quit before doing so.
After doing so, this backup should be available to select when restoring your iPhone from your iPhone's backup.
If this is successful restoring contact info and calendar events on your iPhone, if the Address Book and iCal on your Mac is empty - it does not contain any data, before syncing your iPhone direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac, enter one unique contact in the Address Book, and one calendar event in iCal on your Mac. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data, which you want to select.
Does Time Machine include a backup of your Address Book and iCal on your Mac? If so, it will be much easier and faster to restore the Address Book and iCal on your Mac from your Time Machine backup.

  • Can't restore individual iPhone backup file via Time Machine

    Hello,
I was hoping someone here might be able to assist me. I seem to have lost my iPhone backup file, but when I access the backup files in time capsule under user, in library under mobilesync, I can't even make it that far in time capsule, all I get to is a sparse image file of the username, is there a way I can access these files without a complete restore?
    Thanks!

If you mean you're using the Finder, that's not how to restore from Time Machine.
