Restore iPhone to new, keeping "places" data

I need to restore my iPhone to new not as a backup. I dont particuly mind loosing my SMS or music but the one thing I dont want to loose is the pins in Places for my photos. I have backed them up to a folder on my PC and I realise I can just move them back on to my iPhone but will it have the GPS data? Or will all my pics from places I have been be lost?

if you created a backup on iTunes from a previous phone, you should be able to restore the new phone with that backup, thereby getting back all your photos, contacts, etc.

If you have just 'loose data' and no backup of any kind, you can sync music, pictures and other stuff to your phone, including music that's ripped off CD's
Please note that only media that was purchased in iTunes can be transferred BACK to a computer, not music ripped from CD's or whatever.

Hi!
Ok, I have been told by genius that they can't do anything else to fix my issues until I restore my phone as new. I am actually keen to do this anyway as I have pretty much been copying from the original iphone.
Now my main concern is finding a way of backing up my text message history storing that and then adding it to me newly restored iphone 4s.
Has anyone found a surefire way of doing this?

If you still have a backup from that point in time as part ofr your computer backup history, you could restore the backup folder, restore the phone from that backup and have the messages on the phone.

I have iphone 3g new brand.i got it from my friend from another country.so want to install firmware on it.
i tried with itunes(windows).but i got error while restoring. itunes already updated to the latest version..

The phone already has the latest Operating Service on the device.
You can reset the phone by going to 'Settings > General > Reset' (at the bottom)

New WIn7 installed, prior data wiped. Empty contact lists and calendars. All stillon iPhone. What will synching do? Copy iPhone data to outlook contacts/calendar? or copy enpty PC files to iPhone, essentially deleting last place data is saved?

Will the iPhone data populate the and, essentially, delete my last data resords? I know- prior to disc wipe, records entered either on PC or iPhone would cross copy to the iPhone or PC. That was only 2 -4 records at a time. We're talking >100 records at prresent. Can I jut sync, and not worry amd find all contacts BOTH places?

I currently have a family plan with 5 lines (1 basic phone, 2 iphone 4s, and 1 blackberry bold). Both iphone 4s phones have 2gb of Internet data a month and the blackberry has unlimited internet data. I have 2 upgrades on my family plan, the iphone 4s and blackberry. If I transfer the upgrade from the 4s to the basic phone and then get the new iphone 5 from the basic phone upgrade (I would have to get the 2gb data plan when i purchase iphone 5 for the contract price), can I then put the iphone 5 on the blackberry line (basically just switch phones) to keep my unlimited data, then put the basic phone back where it was and cancel the 2gb data plan (not get charged the $30 for the month)? I have read and heard that this can happen and was wondering if I could do it.
Any help and if would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has already been posted.

If the iPhone 4S, already has the 2GB data plan and it is eligible for an upgrade, why don't you order the iPhone 5 on that line? You would extend the contract on the iPhone 4S line and then you can use the iPhone 5 on the BlackBerry line.

Here is my situation..
The wife and I upgraded to the iPhone 4's right when Verizon got them, and got the unlimited data plan. Now as I understand it, to upgrade to the iPhone 5 directly, I have to choose a new plan since unlimited is no longer offered, or I can purchase a new phone at full retail or from a 3rd party and still keep the unlimited.
Now, we have been planning to get 2 more lines for our oldest sons this year. Our current plan is in my wifes name. I think I should be able to start a NEW account in my name, order 2 iPhone5's with the shared plan and get them all activated. Then simply switch phones.
I see no problem with doing this.. but there may be some fine print somewhere.

Ok here is what you do. get 2 new lines and get the iPhone 5 for those 2 new lines.then move the iPhone's 5 to y'all's lines. then give your kids yalls old iphones this should work anything else may make you lose your unlimited data. for the 2 new lines yes you will have to day for data..

How do I use a backup file from a PC to restore my iPhone on my Mac? I copied the PC backup file for my phone to the Mobilesync folder in Application Support, but iTunes doesn't see it.

As always, iphone will sync with one comptuer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
The backup that itunes performs does not include any itunes content. You should keep everything on your computer and should always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Restore iPhone to new?

I bought a new 3Gs iphone and activated it right away. Now I want to restore my older original iphone back to new condition by erasing everything I had on the phone. Since this phone is no longer activated, all I get is the emergency call screen. When I plug it in to version 9 of iTunes on my Mac, it shows up as my old phone did. When I try to RESTORE without backup I get a message that the software can't be found.

You would have to leave the SIM card that was in it when it was activated to restore or update the iphones software.

I'm not understanding your question -- restore your iPhone from what? If you have pictures already on your phone that you want to protect (and/or remove from your phone) you can import them from the phone to a computer. That is a good idea in any event as there are a number of ways the photos on your phone can be lost (loss of the phone itself, hardware problem, software glitch, etc.). I have problem with this function on Iphone 5. I still want my iphone to receive email, imessage while keeping 3g mode off, as I don't subscribe for the unlimited package.
However I found my iphone 5 still having 3g sign on permanently even I turn off the 3g mode. It doesn't work like my iphone 4 did. This really disappointed me indeed

What is the difference in restoring iPhone to new in iTunes verses? Trying to fix rapid battery drain issue as well as new ones i.e. when texting/emailing; in an app, etc. screen suddenly closes and goes to home screen and all info is lost in and have to start over with whatever I was doing...soooo frazzled!! Well...I deleted both my iTunes and iCloud backups and went through the whole "Restore as New" process. Wouldn't you know the issue still exists? I just can't understand how it stayed with the device even after starting from scratch. Beyond frustrating!
