Restore ipod 4th gen on windows 8

im trying to restore an ipod 4th gen on a computer with windows 8. It will go through the complete restore and restart but when it comes back on it is still in restore mode?????

Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

  • HT201412 Can't restore iPod 4th gen, HELP!!!

Hi! I can't restore my iPod 4th gen. because it will not show up under "devices" on iTunes! I plug my iPod into my computer, and a little stop sign comes up telling me my iPod is locked with a passcode and needs to be unlocked. Heres the catch: my iPod has a erratic/unresponsive touch screen! I can't shut it down or unlock it! So ultimately the devices column does NOT show up. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED!

What what are you trying to do with the N9
What did you do with the N9 on the older iPods?

  • Cannot restore ipod 4th gen without updating to ios 4.2 and cannot do that

My son cannot remember his passcode to his new ipod touch 4th generation. I go into itunes to do a "RESTORE" and it won't restore unless I update to the new ios 4.2 software. When I try to update, I get the "network connection timed out" error. It will never update. I have disabled every bit of security on the computer, removed and uninstalled all anti-virus software, removed firewalls from windows and the router, unplugged and replugged in the modem and the router to do a hard reset, tried creating a new user account in Windows to see if that helped and it gave the same error. I was told by Apple that I must not be able to do it for some reason and I have to go to an Apple store to have it done. That is ridiculous that they can't even figure it out. My son just wants his ipod restored so he can use it and I just want to be able to do updates.

i fixed mine!@#!@# all i did was closed kaspersky and it worked i don't know what your problem is tho since u uninstalled your anti-virus
most people disable there anti virus but the anti virus doesn't fully close like kaspersky
i hope u fix your problem

  • Restore iPod 4th gen, without home button or passcode

So, recently, my little sister has lost her iPod touch, we just found it and the home button is broken and she doesnt remember the passcod, it has been disabled for a while. Is there anything we could do since we can't bypass the passcode using the home button and power/lock button?

    - Reset the iPod.
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then try again.

  • IPod 4th gen unrecognized by Mac or PC, even after reset, restore, disk mod

I recently purchased an iPod 4th gen from eBay. When it arrived, it was working perfectly. It came with music pre-loaded, some of which I liked, so I tried several programs to extract the music. I ended up using iPodDisk.app, but in the process of transferring and deleting music I somehow mucked up the iPod, because iTunes demanded that I restore it.
Okay, fine. I restored it, only to discover that it required that I plug it into an AC adaptor to complete the restore! Fast-forward to today, when the adaptor arrived in the mail and I completed the restore. My iPod at first appeared to be back into prime condition.
Then I plugged it into my Mac, and nothing happened. The iPod did not recognize that it was plugged in, and neither iTunes nor PathFinder recognized it. (I tried opening Finder, and it didn't recognize the iPod, either.) I then hooked it up to my Windows desktop; no dice. So I tried a reset; no change. I tried forcing it into Disk Mode, and had to deal with the "Okay to Disconnect" message of death for a while before I could reset it again. Now the iPod seems to be working fine, with the exception of its inability to interface with any computer!
I'm thinking of ordering a new USB cable, as some of the casing on the iPod end has been stripped off, so perhaps the cable has been compromised. (Unfortunately I don't have another iPod to test it with.) Assuming the result is the same with another USB cable, what might the problem be, and how might I fix it?

I solved it myself by dropping the iPod repeatedly, from a height of about 2 feet. I just hit it hard against a flat surface whenever the hard drive starts giving me the Click of Death. As crazy as this sounds, it's kept the thing running!

  • I attempted to updated my Ipod (4th Gen) to iOS 6 today on my computer. When updating an error occurred, it then said i needed to restore it so i did. It then came up with another error. Now, everytime i turn my ipod on, it asks me to connect to iTunes

Today, i attempted to update my iPod (4th Gen) to iOS 6 on my computer. When it was updating it came up with an error, it then asked me to restore my iPod which i did. During this process it came up with another error. Now, everytime I turn on my iPod, it asks me to connect to iTunes. When i do this, it connects to the computer but doesnt show up in iTunes. How do i fix this?

    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

  • My ipod 4th gen screen kept jumping this morning. Had to do a restore on it and it is working fine now. However, when I did the restore it did not load the Nike   app that was factory installed on my ipod. I use this app daily. Any idea how to get it back

My ipod 4th gen screen kept jumping this morning. Had to do a restore to factory conditions and it is working fine now. However, it originally had a factory installed Nike+ app on it and it did not install with the restore. I use this app daily with the running chip to log my workouts. Anyone know how to get this app back from Apple? Loading the Nike app from the app store is not the same thing as you need gps running continually for it to work (as with an iphone). Can't have that with my ipod unless I'm connected to wifi. Help?? Thanks.

If you go to Settings do you see an entry for the Nike app? There is no way to delete or hide that app?
Have you tired using the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find it.
Next would be to restore a gain. First from backup then next to factory settings/new iPod.
The Nike app you can download/install
Nike+ Running for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad on the iTunes App Store
Does work on the iPOd. You just do not get all the information that GPS/cellular connection can get. You will still be able to get distance/footstrikes like the installed app an you do not need the shoe sensor.. It uses the built-in sensors on the iPod

  • My iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, but when connected to my brand new ASUS Windows-8 laptop's USB 3.0 port the charging process just keeps "blinking" on both the iPod and the laptop and will not connect to Itunes...

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem!                                                                                                                                                                                                                               My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar.                                                               When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over!                                                                                                                  I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good.                                                             I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work!                                                                                          The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated!                                                                                                                                                                I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing!                                                       I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos, since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope somebody knows a fix or solution! Thank You!

  • New update? Now I have to restore my 4th Gen IPod Touch?

So i updated my ipod 4th gen today with the new update, and after it gets done. I see the charger end of a usb for the ipod with an arrow pointing to a itunes symbol, i go and plug my ipod in and it keeps asking me to restore my ipod. How do i fix this without having to restore my ipod to factory settings?

    There is likely a reason.
No idea what it would be.
Sometimes computers have issues and you need to restore them.
Everything should be on your computer.  You can put it back after the restore.
