My brother bought an iPod Touch 4g. He wants his apps (and the app data) which are on my dad's iPhone ATM, on his new iPod.
Is it possible to restore a iPod Touch from an iPhone Sync?
Yes. You can restore an iPOd from the backup of an iPhone as long as the iOS version on the iPod is at least as great as on the iPhone.

When ive restored my ipod touch from my iphone 3g backup, i thought that it slowed down the performance. When i restored my ipod, i used it for a while without backup and it worked faster i think. Does backup from slower devices affect on faster devices?

I cannot get my iPod touch or my iPhone to sync with iTunes.
At first it wouldn't even read that my devices existed. Now after restoring both devices from backups and re-installing iTunes (this was a last resort, no other suggestions worked) my iPhone gives Error 0xE8000065 when connected.
The iPod won't even restore, it starts by saying the restore will take 20h then after 15mins it gives me "Cannot restore from backup".
Help?Both are working fine now. I didn't do anything, I was just googling possible solutions and suddenly iTunes came to the front and synced both devices fine.

When I went to sync my iPhone, I accidently hit restore and it made my iPhone have all of the settings of my iPod Touch, erasing my iPhone pictures and contacts. Is there any way to get everything back?
Not to doubt you, but something sounds fishy. I can see accidentally clicking Restore, but to load your Touch's information you would have had to select your Touch's backup file after restoring, which would be hard to do by accident -- unless your iPhone and Touch have the same name?
In any case, your iPhone should have its own backup file on your computer. You can click Restore again and this time select the iPhone's backup file (there should be a device name and date associated with the pop-up window at the end of the restore process). This process will erase your iPhone, reload the OS, and then when you select your backup file then all your iPhone settings, data, sync options, etc. will be re-loaded, including your media (if you auto-sync ... if you manually manage music and video on the iPhone then you'll need to re-select the items you want loaded onto it). -

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabilng the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Next, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials.
If possible, either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync. To do this, right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Hi, my iPod touch has been unable to sync since downloading the new cloud software. It says: An error occurred while restoring this iPod (-34) So my music is not on it. The apps are still on it. It doesn't have 3G so the cloud is pointless anyway. It just said it was a software update, I should have avoided it. Music is all I use on it so help me please!

Here it is step by step.
STEP 1: Connect you device to your windows pc.
STEP 2: Open up "computer" on your pc, you should see three options. (1. Hard Disk Drives) (2. Devices With Removable Storage) (3. Portable Devices)
STEP 3: Under "Portable Devices" click your's.
STEP 3: Click "Internal Storage."

I am getting interference (scratching sound) on my Ipod touch on music that I sync from downloaded CDs to ITunes on my PC. The music is clear when I play it on my PC but has the interference on the Ipod. This just started recently. Any thoughts?
Thank you so much for the reply. I does not appear to be the headphones because I get the same interference sound from my Ihome radio when I dock by Ipod on it as well as when I connect the Ipod to the radio connection in the car. I have isolated the issue to the Ipod because these same tunes play without interference on my PC so something is happening in the sync process.
More thoughts?
