Restore Itunes Library - Hard Drive Crash - from Ipod

I have a very large library of music - Many CD's - I have been able to restore my purchases from Apple store - My Ipod has 80 to 90% of my music on it - I do not wish to have to reload around 100 CDs of music - Is there a way to get the music that is on my Ipod back into my Itunes library without having to reload all my CD - Please I do not want to have to do this from scratch

there are many third party apps that will do this.
If you are willing to pay a few bucks, Music Rescue is one of the best imo as far as features go: http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/products/musicrescue/
there are some free solutions out there as well.

How do you restore your itunes library after my PC hard drive crashed?

    Hi Toboggan,
If you are looking to restore your iTunes data from a backup, you may find the following article useful (while it is focused on moving between computers, many of the steps should also apply to your situation):

  • Delete songs from iTunes Library/Hard Drive directly from iTunes

I have my library setup so that all the music is added to the music folder and then I add to the library manually in iTunes.  I would like to go through and delete some songs from my library but I would also like them to be deleted from hard drive.  Typically I will left click the song, click show in finder, cmd-delete in finder, and then cmd-delete in iTunes.  Since I need to do this for 100s of songs in my library, it would be nice if I could directly delete from the hard drive and library inside iTunes.  If anyone knows of any features, scripts, or what have you that I could do this, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for your help!
    OS X 10.8.2 and iTunes 11

First you need to make sure that the music files you want to delete are in the itunes music folder (you can relocate this in the advanced section of iTunes preferences). If the files are in a different folder, deleting them will only remove them from the itunes library, but not delete the files from the hard drive.
Open itunes and select the songs you want to delete.
If you are looking at them in an iTunes playlist, then hold the option key and press the delete key.
If you are looking at them in the iTunes library, just press the delete key.
You should get a popup asking if you want to delete the song(s) from your iTunes library. If they are songs purchased from the iTunes Store, you might also get a question about deleting them from iCloud. Select delete song and you should then get another popup asking if you want to move the selected song(s) to the trash. Select delete song. Once you empty the trash they should no longer be in the finder or the iTunes library.
Hope this helps. I just tested it out with OS X 10.8.2 and iTunes 11.0

  • ITunes Movies - Hard Drive Crash Help Please

My hard drive crashed which had lots of precious movies of Michael Brecker playing live. Michael Brecker died last weekend and I don't want to loose the videos.
The movies are on my iPod. I'm afraid that when I sync iTunes to my new hard drive which contains a brand new install of XP-Pro and iTunes that it will dump the movies. I have researched online and found solutions for my music and photos, but none for my movies. iCloner and CopyPod allowed me to upload my songs and photos, but I don't see any options for movies.
    Device: 80gb iPod
    Thanks,
    JazzMessenger!

i dont have an answer for your movies, but i was wondering if you could help me as my hardrive crashed also. I have a little 1gb nano. well, actually, we have two using the same music library. how do i get my music from my ipod to my new computer?
    thanks

I had to do a complete recovery of my wife's computer. It appears my "drag" of Music folder prior to recovery did not complete. She has a working iPod with everything on it. How do I get the iPod music, podcasts, and such, back into a brand new and clean and blank  itunes?

  • Restoring Photos after Hard Drive Crash

I had upgraded my standard 80 GB hard drive to an aftermarket 120 GB hard drive in Feb. The new hard drive just crashed, but fortunately a week after I had run Backup so I'm ok. The hard drive is under warranty, but in the meantime I'm restoring as much as I can to my old 80 GB hard drive.
iTunes is working great but my problem is with iPhoto. I restored the photos from Feb-Dec to the iPhoto Library on my old/current hard drive, but none of those photos (post Feb) are showing up in iPhoto 6. The photos are there, I can see them if I navigate to them in finder. Is there a way to tell iPhoto to refresh or something???

    Doug
It does sound like your db is corrupted.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Roll and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • How can I get song titles to appear in iTunes library when transferring songs from iPod to iTunes ?

My old computer crashed.  Trying to recover music from iPod.  Can transfer music, but not song titles.  Titles appear in 4letter mpg formats.  What am I doing wrong?

Provided the files were properly tagged then iTunes should pick up the data when the files are imported into the library. The main problem is usually any files in .wav format.
See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. You seem to be most of the way there already but there are a couple of scripts mentioned near the end which you could use to recover ratings & playlists.

  • Hard Drive Crashed Reinstall iPOD Software

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can transfer all the tunes from my iPOD shuffle to my newly installed hard drive? I loaded the software to the new hard drive but I can't transfer the tunes from the shuffle to the new library.....

    Hi,
If you don't have copy of the songs then you may use the software anapod to copy the songs from the iPod to the computer.

  • Restoring itunes library when drive letters have changed

I installed a new MB,CPU, and PS and got a new HD and reinstalled WXP pro on my computer. The process changed the letters of my hard drives. (I now have three large HDs.) All the data (library stuff) is still there, it's now has a different drive letter from before. Using the methond of importing using the old library .XML file would work except that itunes can't find the songs. Is there a way to edit the XML file to change the drive letter to the new one? I don't want to have to set up all new playlists.

  • Can I rescue my iTunes Library (not the MP3s) from iPod for iTunes on Windows?

    Hi guys
So here's the thing: My Macbook has died on me (don't ask) and I've switched back to Windows. Now, I have an iPod classic with all my files on it, and with some magic on a friend's mac (using an app called Houdini), I was able to extract all my MP3s for use on iTunes on my Win8 PC.
What's gone, of course, are all the stuff from iTunes (play counts. ratings. playlists) - and I find I miss those things.
Is there a way to extract the iTunes library using just my iPod - and transfer it to PC? And if yes: Where do I find it and where does it have to go on my PC?
    Thank you.

    Check this out.

  • Restoring Itunes library on new laptop from iphone 4

Hi, my old laptop broke without having made a backup. I now got a new Acer laptop and would like to transfer my tunes from my iphone onto my new itunes library. How do I do that?
Also, my phone does not ring when someone calls. It buzzes, the alarm works, it plays music through its speakers but just no ringtone.
    Help please.

While roaminggnome is correct that you should have taken backups it may not be too late to save some of your media...
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • I recently moved some of my older tv series purchases to an external hard drive as my iTunes library hard drive was getting full.  Now, when I connect my iPhone and iPad to iTunes, I get the message that my iphone is synced with another library! Help!

I didn't rename my iTunes library or anything.  How can I sync with iTunes without erasing all my apps, app data and settings/messages etc on the iPhone/iPad?

If you moved your iTunes library by simply copying it to another drive, you may not be able to access your music even if you reconnect to that library, you may get a lot of "not found" errors because the music is not where the library thinks it should be. First thing to do is put it back where it was.  Then reconnect it. Then follow the steps in this link:

  • How do I restore Lion after Hard Drive Crash?

My MacBook's hard drive failed recently.  It was easy enough to pop in my SnowLeopard DVD and restore the lastest Lion TimeMachine backup.  I was up and running in no time.  Easy.
My question is what is the proper procedure in the era of Lion?  This method only restores the main partition.  What about the Recovery Partition?  I'm assuming that could come in handy... you know, to repair the partition or disk permissions if needed, right?
I'm sure it's not as hard as I am making this out to be.  If you could please point me in the right direction online, I would be very grateful.  My googling skills aren't up to the task, apparently.

    GRRR!!!
My apologies for cluttering up the threads.  I didn't know how to word it, I guess.

  • Restoring DreamWeaver After Hard Drive Crash

I've had purchase a new hard drive and have my data on CDs.
Obviously moving the folders with site files is easy, where and how
to I get the data files that contained all the FTP details, etc.
for the site I used with DreamWeaver MX.

I am afraid you are out of luck with moving site definitions
    unless you had
them backed up, as they are saved in the Registry

  • My mac hard drive crashed. Can I restore my iTunes library from my iPod to my new hard drive?

My mac hard drive crashed, and had to be replaced. Can I restore my iTunes library from my iPod to my new hard drive? About 2500 songs, some from iTunes store, most from other online sources or my own CDs.

To restore non-purchased music on the iTunes Store to iTunes from the iPod, you need a third-party application as Senuti > http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ You can use others, but this has worked perfectly for me
