Restore key is a flawed feature

I have formatted and restored my computer several times. I know the drill. I have book marks, addresses, etc.
NOWHERE DID ANYONE SAY THAT I HAD TO SAVE MY FLIPPING RESTORE KEY FOR SYNC.
Now I can't create a new account because my email address is "in use." I can't use my email address to access my account because I don't have the flipping restore key.
In short, Sync is now a useless piece of junk taking up space on my hard drive.

# click "Set Up Firefox Sync" to go to "Firefox Sync Setup"
# click "I Have an Account" : Connect
# click "I don't have the device with me" at the bottom to enter the account settings
The "I have lost my other device" link to reset the sync key only works if you have entered the correct user name and password for an existing sync account.
You can also delete your current sync account to start anew with the the same e-mail address.

Is there any way to turn it off?
I keep my Centro in a belt case this is always clipped to my belt while riding in the car.
It's a very nice, rugged case I picked up that is the perfect size, but the keys easily get bumped while I'm driving.
So, when a call comes in it will only ring for a 1/2 second before one of the keys gets bumped and silences the ringtone. It's really annoying to not even know that anyone called me until I check the Centro for some reason.
Is there any way to disable the "press any key to mute ringtones" feature? Any setting / hack / tweak / etc?

Unfortunately there isn't a way to disable this feature. However, you can probably look into a car kit/ clip so you can slip the device on your car in an easy to reach position. Another alternative would be to take the belt like and clip it on your sun visor for a temporary fix.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to completely resolve it but I hope my advice helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

CSS runs at user log on with UAC, wants to restore keys, requires non-existant user as admin.

I am not sure exactly when this happened, but I am pretty sure it happened after the last system update that I accepted from Lenovo. Now, every time I log on to Vista (Ultimate, SP1) I get a UAC prompt, then when I accept, I end up with an OK dialog that says:
The Client Security system keys need to be restored. Only the Client Security administrator can perform this operation. The following user must log onto this computer to continue: Robert-PC\Robert.
Though I am "Robert", the X61T I am user has never had "Robert-PC" as a domain name or a computer name. That looks like some Windows Vista default that I changed a year and a half ago when I installed the OS.
I've tried running CSS (8.20.00023.00) and successfully removed all settings. I even told it to disable Password Recovery, Enhanced security, etc.. I even reset the TPM chip in the program and in BIOS. When I reenabled after many reboots, I still get this message every time I log on.
Any ideas how I can fix this annoyance? I just want to discard the keys and start over, but I cannot figure out how. I suspect even if I complete uninstall, the data will remain and show up again when I reinstall (though I haven't tried this, yet.)

I found a simple fix for this problem. I located Computer\user entry in the registry and changed it to the Domain\Administrator and logged off and then back on. It prompted me for my password and continued to update successfully. The registry key is "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\TVT Common\Client Security Solution\AdminUser

WHERE IS THE RESTORE KEY ON THE LATEST VERSION OF ITUNES? I NEED TO RESTORE MY IPAD AND CANT FIND IT

I updated to the most recent version of itunes before restoring my ipad- and now I cant find the "restore" feature! Anyone know where it went?

View as Album List was a great feature. Based on comments I have seen on other forums, I am not the only one who thinks so. Please restore this feature. Reasons:1) Images are much easier to see than text. I have reached the age of reading glasses. Before this feature was removed, I could easily find songs / albums in playlists. Now I have to find my glasses beforehand! 2) Images are much more compelling and attractive than text. A picture tells a thousand words etc. The whole look and feel of Spotify is enhanced through the use of album images. Removing them seems like going against good user experience practice. 3) Nostalgia. Although I love Spotify and I firmly believe that subscription is the future of music, I still feel some nostalgia for "possessing" a collection of albums. Displaying album covers reinforces the feeling of having a collection of albums in a playlist. Note that all three arguments apply equally to desktop and iPad versions of Spotify. November 2013: Response to the comments from Spotify...- There is no need for a cmd+G control. All playlists should always display the album cover.- The Collections product was announced almost a year ago but there is no sign of it.- A Collections product that simply displays the thousands of albums that I have ever listened to is not a viable solution in my opinion. I would need multiple collections (i.e.. playlists). Again - We shouldn't have to vote about stuff like this. Of course there should be an album list. And it should also be obvious how to enable it, not just with a keyboard command or obscure menu option. Also - please consider an album view in the mobile apps as well. I have a lot of playlists with just albums, and they are a pain in the ass to use on the Iphone / Ipad.

Pro Key, but no Pro features

Paid up for Pro, as credit card-sized movies are hard on the eyes. Got sent the key, but all the Pro features are still greyed out. Help!

Did you use the name that was shown as the registration name in the email received from Apple? The name and key are tied together, so try to cut and paste from the email. If that doesn't help, try repairing permissions and deleting the existing Quicktime Preferences in the Library folder No guarantees but these are some things that have helped others in the past.

Lost Function key access to hardware features.

I recently upgraded to Vista SP1 and I just noticed that i lost the ability to use my F keys to change volume level and screen / keyboard brightness in Vista.
I have also noticed that the application in the system notification area that controls this does not appear to be running.
Does anyone know what is the name of the application and where it is located on the HD?
I have been trying to drill through my HD to find it but I have not been able to locate the program that controls these features in Windows.

I have resolved my own problem:
Sorry for the post, but it may help others that loose this functionality.
The file you need to move to the startup folder is located in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Boot Camp\KbdMgr.exe
Once I created a shortcut for this in my windows startup folder, everything returned back to normal.

Restoring the anti-gravity screen feature?

How can one restore the anti-gravity feature on the 4s model?

When one switches the device from portrait to landscape the picture should automatically adapt, mine used to but stopped some months ago?

4 to 4s restore, no Siri or 4s features afterwards..

I purchased a 4s, I took it home unopened. OS5 was available, so I updated my old I-Phone 4 before doing anything else. This allowed me to enable I-Cloud, which I did. All was well, I planned to then restore my music, files etc to the new 4s using I-Cloud
The next step was to fire up the 4s and set it up. However, when I then powered up my 4s and inserted my SIM card, the phone asks if I want to set up as a new phone or restore from I-Cloud. Being an existing customer using an I-Phone, I figured setting up a new user was the wrong way to go and as I wanted all my settings and data on the new 4s, selected restore from I-Cloud. This worked well, all settings and everything as expected - no problems.
What's odd is that the backup may have overwritten or disabled Siri and potentially other 4s features. Its hard to tell as I haven't seen Siri working on a 4s (mine doesn't have it as explained above, everyone else in my office is using a 4), but I suspect that my 4s now thinks its a 4 following my restore from I-Cloud..
Did I get it wrong in the first place? Should I have set up the 4s as a new phone first and then restored my data from I-Cloud? Or should this be working and it isn't?
Any help much appreciated!

Yes indeed, Siri just needs to be enabled to work, so clearly, restoring my old 4 settings to my new 4s via I-Cloud didn't have any impact on Siri. Thanks for your response..
Can anyone confirm this (restoring I-Cloud 4 back up to a 4s instead of setting up as a new phone) has no impact on a 4s features (the ones different to a 4). Once I know doing it this way hasn't cost me access to any 4s features, I will be happy!
Or in software terms, is Siri the only difference between a 4 and 4s?

IPhone is "Up-to-date" but missing key new 3.1 features

iTunes and my iPhone says that its up to date with the latest 3.1 software but there's none of the key new features, like MMS. iTunes is most up to date and when i click "check for update" on my iphone, it says its up-to-date.
does anyone know what the problem is?

Depending on your provider, MMS might not be supported at this time.

I want to restore my home page the way it was before I downloaded Firefox 4 which destroyed my home page features (news, currency converter, horoscope, weather etc.) so I deleted Firefox 4 and re-installed Firefox 3.6.17.

The look of my home page was perfect with Firefox 3.6.17. I had a strip of whales breaching around the Google logo. Underneath I had all kinds of wonderful things (I forget what they're called) on the page which was divided into sections: weather, CNN, Reuters, currency converter, Rick Levine's daily horoscope, health tip of the day etc. I promptly removed FF4 because my home page was totally ruined and I can't figure out how to restore all these wonderful easy features. Could you kindly help me or has FF totally changed the entire home page layout and I shall never be able to restore them. I have saved a copy of my Profile on my USB stick. without my book marks and am floundering trying to recoup.

Feature Suggestion for Keyboard System Preferences - Modifier Keys

I recently picked up an iMac and it came with the new low-profile aluminum small keyboard -- without the keypad.
I really like the small keyboard except for one thing -- the placement of the fn and control keys. The larger keyboard has three modifier keys on the left side: Control, Option, Command. The small keyboard has four: fn, Control, Option, Command.
It is annoying to switch between keyboards where the control key is in a different spot on each one. Retraining my finger on a per-keyboard basis is hard.
Apple thoughtfully provided in System Preferences a Keyboard control panel and it thoughtfully provided a "Modifier Keys..." popup to allow you to reassign the modifer keys. A great feature.
The problem is: you can't use this to modify the behavior of the 'fn' key. It is apparently hardcoded.
If I could use the modifier keys dialog to change the 'fn' into a 'Control', then I could use this keyboard without swearing everytime I miss the control key.
Another feature that would be great would be if I could also have different bindings for the modifers on the left side versus the modifiers on the right. That would allow me to reassign one of the right side modifier keys (that I never use) to be an 'fn' key.

I'm in the exact same boat as you...that Fn key is driving me nuts. I tried DoubleCommand and some other things as well, but the only thing that's coming close to what I want is a free download called "KeyRemap4MacBook."
Just go under the "Remap Fn Key" section and you can basically have it act as the Command key. (I actually always had my Command and Control keys swapped, so now both the Fn and Control keys now essentially act as the Command key.)
There are a few quirks I haven't figured out -- I can't seem to do Forward Delete -- but again, it's the only thing I've found so far that works.

Arrow keys not working on CS2 64 bit system

Recently purchased a new computer with 64 bit system 4meg ram. I installed CS2 and everything seems to be working except the arrow keys and the control +/- features. Arrow keys are working in other programs like word and publisher. Any suggerstions?

I had the same issue on one machine but not another, so I compared the Photoshop install directories and found that (among other things) Tw10122.dat was different between the two. My only guess is that the version we have is localized to a different country, and this is causing the issue. Perhaps a common pirated version is also localized to a different country and that's why this issue is common among pirated versions, even though ours are not pirated.
...Or maybe they are and we just don't know it! Either way, replacing this file with my other version fixed it for me and maybe it will for you, too. Here's what to do:
Close Photoshop (if opened)
Navigate to your Photoshop install directory. This is c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\ by default on x64 systems or c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\ on x32.
Find Tw10122.dat and rename it to Tw10122.dat.bak.
Download my attached Tw10122.dat to your install directory.
Launch Photoshop and test it.
If the issue persists, or anything else seems wrong with Photoshop, restore your old Tw10122.dat by deleting mine and renaming Tw10122.dat.bak to its original filename. Please let us all know if this works for you.
