Restore Last Session Feature?

Is there an option for Adobe Reader to "restore last session" when the program starts?
So when I start the reader, it automatically opens the previous documents being viewed.

There is no such option. But there is a way by which Adobe Reader restores last view setting when you reopen the documents.
Option present under Reader->Edit->Preferences-.Documents-"Restore last view settings......"

  • How do I disable the "restore last session" feature in safari 5

    Hei folks,
I recently updated to OSX Lion and my Safari Version is Version 5.1 (7534.48.3).
Since this update when I close (cmd+q) Safari with one or more tabs open and start safari again the tabs are restored (opended automatically). This behaviour is very wrong to me as I almost never need the "old" tabs and actually want to instantly type the adress I want to go to which is only possible on a blank page.
How can I disable this behaviour/feature?
    Thanks in advance
    -Kunstbanause
PS: I looked through the options several times but could not find anything related.

WOW!!! There's no need for all that. That's just overkill right there!
Just disable the option that Apple provided and get on with your life.
If your truly stuck in a loop and that doesn't resolve it, you can do the following. FYI: This is also the answer to the question posted in your link at the very end. I've copied and pasted it for your convenience.
Question: If anyone knows of a startup key/mouse combination to avoid restoring from the Saved State file for a previously crashed application, I'd appreciate hearing how to do that. I searched and did not find anything.
    Answer:
    Hold down the "Shift" key
    Open/Click on Safari
Let go of the "Shift" key
Safari will now open in a new state.

  • Undo Closed Tab/Restore Last Session

Hello there. There seems to be a problem with the "Undo Closed Tab". The feature is active ( button is not faded out/grey ) , but after pressing it , nothing happens. This came to being when Aurora was updated to v29. The daily updates ( well , not so daily ) , does not seem to fix this problem , and there is nothing on the internet that helps. I tried resetting all values in "browser.sessionstore.*" , but nothing happened. There is also another problem : i can't seem to find the "Restore last session" button on startup screen. I didn't find it in the Library ( CTRL-Shift-H ). Any ideas ?

The "old" home page was about:home (you can open about:about to see more about: pages).
Can you confirm that sessionstore.js is being created and updated as you browse?
You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
If you find one or more files named sessionstore but not sessionstore.js, Windows may be hiding file extensions from you. To work with files as accurately as possible, I suggest unhiding them. This Microsoft support article has the steps: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].

  • Browser won't open - greyed out - says trying to restore last session - I am at a total loss on how to fix this-have restarted -- i still can't get it to work

i can't do anything when i open it up - it's greyed out -- have tried everything i can think of -- says restoring last session but never comes on - just says not responding if i try to click on toolbar or anywhere

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.
I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

  • Didn't restore last session following a foxfire update and install, I need the last session restored, how?

the computer shut down sometime in the middle of the night, maybe a windows update- how knows. There was a foxfire update install pending. When I got to the computer this morning I had to restart foxfire and it did the install. But I never had a "restore last session" question or opportunity from foxfire. Favorites is OLD information, not what I use day in, day out; I use the tabs for that. I need last session restored.
    == This happened ==
    Not sure how often
    == this morning (last night)

That's not a lot of help, corel. 'It's gone.'
May 2012 and it's still happening, especially after a version upgrade; that's not anything like a crash, it's just an upgrade, handled by the user. But the programmers seem so preoccupied with their creation that they fail to notice that a close of one version and an opening of a new is just an ordinary operation to a user [if you're an administrator]. We expect stopping and starting to work, and our last sessions to be remembered over that 'great divide'.
What's so radical about respecting a user's environment?
    Not pretty, Mozilla.

  • Suggestion: add the option "auto restore last session on program start"

I know about "reopen all the windows from the last session" in the History menu. I would like to have the option of automatic reopen.
And would be more convenient to swap buttons "Add to favorites" and "Refresh page" (screenshot: http://img198.imageshack.us/i/clip6s.jpg/)

And a few Apple employees from time to time

  • How to restore last session that was lost by firefox

i need to restore the last ....i had a lot of open tabs and today mozilla lost them.....can i get them back

There are also some backups in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox profile folder.
You can check their file dates to see if there is one that might have that session.
You can make a backup copy of all the files in that folder elsewhere in a safe location and copy the .js file to sessionstore.js in the main profile folder to replace the current copy.
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts":<br>"Show my windows and tabs from last time"
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Firefox isn't restoring last session, holding on to old closed windows...

I have my Firefox browser set to restore my previous session. However, when the browser crashes or my computer is turned off and then back on, it will only restore a single blank browser window. I know a fix around this, though - go to History and Restore Closed Windows. However, for the past three weeks, when I've done this the only windows that are restored are from my session three weeks ago - tabs that were closed get opened, and new tabs that were opened are now missing. Clearing my history and restarting my computer have not helped. Does anyone know why this is occurring and what I can do to fix it?
    Thanks.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Multiple_profile_files_created
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • I mistakenly deleted the files that allowed for the restore last session tab on homepage; how to reinstall?

I was cleaning up desktop and deleted a firefox file that I didn't recognize....it ended up being the one that allows for opening up the previous session

I have no idea how/why it was on desktop....and I emptied the recycle bin already! I was just trying to get organized a bit and clean up clutter...but I did use that feature almost daily, as it helped me to just close up the computer in the evening without worrying about getting to all the work the next day, as I would now immediately remember what I was doing!

  • After latest upgrade to v 32 Restore Last Session no longer works

Win 7 - the title tells it all.

I had the same problem (with Ubuntu 14.04). I could fix it by renaming the file sessionstore.js in the config directory (only as root).
So close Firefox and then enter in the terminal:
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/ (replace xxxxxxxx.default by the folder you can find there)
    sudo mv sessionstore.js sessionstore.js.bak
Maybe renaming that file works in WIndows 7, too. You should find it here:
    Computer/C:/Users/Username/Appdata/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default/
