Restore LiveCache backup to another System -AIX
Dear SAP Gurus,
1. How can I restore full backup of Live Cache to another system.
How can I do Live cache system copy?Rename SID's.
2. How can I rename the existing live cache to a dirrent name, example LC1 to LC4 and restore another system's backup to LC1.
Thanks,
Naren
Hello Sithambaram,
1) Please provide more information:
-> Are you going to do Homogeneous or Heterogeneous System Copy?
-> What are the OS of the source & target servers?
< please provide this information for the liveCache servers too.>
-> What are the liveCache version & SCM SP on your system?
Please take a look in the SAP notes:
886103 System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM
210564 Copying a complete APO system
For the Homogenous liveCache copy please follow the SAP notes:
877203 Post steps after the Homogenous liveCache copy using
457425 Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore
Please see the SAP note for Heterogeneous liveCache copy procedure :
632357 Backing up liveCache data for SCM 4.0
2) Information about the steps to rename the existing live cache to
a different name, example LC1 to LC4, could be found in the SAP note:
604680 Renaming a SAP DB or liveCache instance
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Restore backup in another machine
Forgive me for the 'weak' English.
Oracle 10gR2 in both machines.
RH4E in both machines.
I am trying to restore one backup in another machine.
I copied the backup files to the new host, created one passwordfile, created a init.ora file and created the directories used in the init.ora.
I set the ORACLE_SID for the SID of the original db and after to try to connect as sysdba I receive error ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.
sqlnet.ora:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
But I also tried with other parameters (NONE, EXCLUSIVE) and nothing.
I have one another instance running in this machine (where I want restore backup).
export oracle_sid=my_sid
sqlplus /nolog
SQL> conn /as sysdba
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
Somebody can help me?sqlnet.ora:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)Assuming your OS user (normally oracle) is member of dba group, try removing (or commenting) that line. -

->>To avoid unexpected problems from all dependent areas, I would perform Fresh SAP Installation on the Fresh Target Server (...if your Target Server is not running with the required SAP System).
For performing Fresh required SAP Installation on Fresh Target System, you can refer this Installation Guide "[ECC 5.0 Installation Guide- ORA-HP_UX|https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001105082005E]". ECC 5.0 can be installed with Oracle 9i or Oracle 10.2.
Also refer these useful SAP Notes 808866 & 785921 to get more information.
->>After Preparing your Target SAP system, the Homogeneous System Copy using DB Specific Method (Oracle DB Restore Method) can be performed to prepare the Target system equivalent to the Source System. The only condition here will be to have same SAP System release and DB release at Source and Target Server.
You can follow that DB Restore copy guide , which you already have mentioned in above post to perform Homo. System copy using Online/Offline Oracle Backup.

ThanksHi Mehdi,
Yes, it is possible to restore Windows backup to a different machine with different hardware. This article, although written for Windows Server 2008 still applies in 2012:

Can I plug in (restore) an RMAN tablespace backup into another DB ?
11.2.0.3/AIX 6.1
We accidently dropped a development DB without taking the latest expdp backup of an important schema. All the objects on this schema belonged to only one tablespace and we have the RMAN backup of that tablespace. Is there anyway we could recreate that schema by restoring the tablespace backup into another database ?Yes.
Use the TRANSPORT TABLESPACE feature/method :
http://oracle.su/docs/11g/backup.112/e10643/rcmsynta2021.htm
Also check out sys.dbms_tts.transport_set_check
RMAN> transport tablespace emp_data, emp_data2
tablespace destination '/u01/app/oracle/oradata'
auxiliary destination '/u04/app/oracle/oradata';If you need to check your endian format use this query :
SELECT
PLATFORM_NAME,
ENDIAN_FORMAT
FROM
V$TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM;http://www.fadalti.com/oracle/database/how_to_transportable_tablespaces.htm

Transferring iTunes Library to another system, from a Time Machine backup
Transferring iTunes Library to another system, from a Time Machine backup
I have a large iTunes library that is backed up via Time Machine on an external drive. I would like to hook up that drive to another mac and just transfer the music that is saved in the backup. I don't want to restore anything else, simply transfer the whole iTunes library. Is this possible? If not, what is the best way to do something like this?
Thanks! You should be able to restore iTunes and iPhoto files if the Lion system was running the same version of those applications that you'll have on the Snow Leopard system. However, you won't be able to restore files for applications like Mail, Address Book, or Safari, as the versions of those won't match.
-
I've selected the "restore from backup" button numerous times, but iTunes continues to give me the message, "This computer has previously been synced with another device." It then gives me the option to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. I want to put my music and apps back onto my phone! How can I get my computer to recognize my phone again?
I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.
Plug your phone into iTunes
Click setup as a new device
Immediately unplug your phone from the computer
Give it about 30 seconds and iTunes will give a message (I don’t remember the specific, but regarding you unplugging the device and it not completing)
Plug your phone back in
Viola! no restore occurred and you can access everything again
This computer has previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device. -
How to restore the backup files on time capsule after reinstalled the system
please can someone help me to restore my backups on time capsule after reinstalled the new system. I tried after finished reinstall but it could not find. I also tried with the migration assistant in utilities, it also doesn't work. I always have time machine backed up all my files but now I can not bring anything back
ellabs wrote:

What "new system" did you reinstall?
Are you upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Or did you reinstall Leopard? If so, why and how (that may provide a clue)?
How is your Mac connected to the Time Capsule (use Ethernet for best results)?
You may need to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting. -
Restore Time Machine backup to another Mac
If I use time machine to backup my Macbook Pro to an external hard drive, then lose my Macbook Pro, can I restore my data to another Mac? Does anyone know the answer
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/timemachine.html
But every indication is that simply starting off the Leopard disk will ask you, if the device (backup) is hooked to the computer. -
Error code 0x800700B7 with System Restore and Backup problems
My OS is Vista Ultimate. 2GB RAM. 13GB free space on C Drive. I am unable to use System Restore or Backup and Restore center. When I try to create a Restore Point (or do a backup) error message comes up 'Could not create the scheduled task for the following reason: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0x800700B7).' I think (not sure) that these problems came after I was infected with win32:Vitro virus. (No longer any infections showing). I think that my registry may be corrupt or files deleted. Can anyone help please?
Hi,
Thank you for your post.
Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
Note: Please perform a complete system backup first. If any unexpected issue occurs, we can quickly restore the system to the current status.
1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache
3. Right click on this key and select "Export" and save the key to a Flash Drive or other removable storage device.
4. Remove the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\Windows”
5. Please reboot the computer and check if the issue reoccurs. If it works, please also reconfigure the Scheduled Task for System restore in Task Scheduler.
Hope this helps. Thanks.
