I copied the backup files to the new host, created one passwordfile, created a init.ora file and created the directories used in the init.ora.

  • Can I plug in (restore) an RMAN tablespace backup into another DB ?

    11.2.0.3/AIX 6.1
We accidently dropped a development DB without taking the latest expdp backup of an important schema. All the objects on this schema belonged to only one tablespace and we have the RMAN backup of that tablespace. Is there anyway we could recreate that schema by restoring the tablespace backup into another database ?

    Yes.
Use the TRANSPORT TABLESPACE feature/method :
    http://oracle.su/docs/11g/backup.112/e10643/rcmsynta2021.htm
    Also check out sys.dbms_tts.transport_set_check
    RMAN> transport tablespace emp_data, emp_data2
               tablespace destination '/u01/app/oracle/oradata'
auxiliary destination '/u04/app/oracle/oradata';If you need to check your endian format use this query :
    SELECT
      PLATFORM_NAME,
      ENDIAN_FORMAT
    FROM

  • Transferring iTunes Library to another system, from a Time Machine backup

Transferring iTunes Library to another system, from a Time Machine backup
I have a large iTunes library that is backed up via Time Machine on an external drive.  I would like to hook up that drive to another mac and just transfer the music that is saved in the backup.  I don't want to restore anything else, simply transfer the whole iTunes library.  Is this possible?  If not, what is the best way to do something like this?
    Thanks!

You should be able to restore iTunes and iPhoto files if the Lion system was running the same version of those applications that you'll have on the Snow Leopard system.  However, you won't be able to restore files for applications like Mail, Address Book, or Safari, as the versions of those won't match.

  • I updated the software of my iPhone 4s, but now iTunes says my computer is synced with another device, even after I click "restore from backup."

I've selected the "restore from backup" button numerous times, but iTunes continues to give me the message, "This computer has previously been synced with another device." It then gives me the option to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. I want to put my music and apps back onto my phone! How can I get my computer to recognize my phone again?

I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.
    Plug your phone into iTunes
Click setup as a new device
Immediately unplug your phone from the computer
Give it about 30 seconds and iTunes will give a message (I don’t remember the specific, but regarding you unplugging the device and it not completing)
    Plug your phone back in
Viola! no restore occurred and you can access everything again
This computer has previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device.

  • How to restore the backup files on time capsule after reinstalled the system

please can someone help me to restore my backups on time capsule after reinstalled the new system. I tried after finished reinstall but it could not find. I also tried with the migration assistant in utilities, it also doesn't work. I always have time machine backed up all my files but now I can not bring anything back

    ellabs wrote:

What "new system" did you reinstall?
Are you upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Or did you reinstall Leopard?  If so, why and how (that may provide a clue)?
How is your Mac connected to the Time Capsule (use Ethernet for best results)?
You may need to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • Restore Time Machine backup to another Mac

If I use time machine to backup my Macbook Pro to an external hard drive, then lose my Macbook Pro, can I restore my data to another Mac? Does anyone know the answer

    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/timemachine.html
But every indication is that simply starting off the Leopard disk will ask you, if the device (backup) is hooked to the computer.

  • Error code 0x800700B7 with System Restore and Backup problems

My OS is Vista Ultimate. 2GB RAM. 13GB free space on C Drive. I am unable to use System Restore or Backup and Restore center. When I try to create a Restore Point (or do a backup) error message comes up 'Could not create the scheduled task for the following reason: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0x800700B7).' I think (not sure) that these problems came after I was infected with win32:Vitro virus. (No longer any infections showing). I think that my registry may be corrupt or files deleted. Can anyone help please?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your post.
Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
Note: Please perform a complete system backup first. If any unexpected issue occurs, we can quickly restore the system to the current status.
    1.     Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    2.     In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache
    3.     Right click on this key and select "Export" and save the key to a Flash Drive or other removable storage device.
    4.     Remove the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\Windows”
    5.     Please reboot the computer and check if the issue reoccurs. If it works, please also reconfigure the Scheduled Task for System restore in Task Scheduler.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.
