Restore lost calendars

I lost all of my work Icloud Calendars twice over the past ten days. Is it possible to restore our calendars data once they have been lost?

Try this:
Quit iCal.  Go to Macintosh HD > your username > Library > Calenders, and see if you have any folders and files in there.  If you have items in there, your data might not be lost.
Go to Macintosh HD > your username > Library > Preferences > and remove the file com.apple.iCal.plist to the desktop.  Restart iCal.  If your data is restored, you're good to go.  If not, quit iCal and return ther file back to it's original place.
Good luck.

How do I restore lost calendar information?

I am missing all the calndars I created just on my MacBook Pro.  This happened when I got an iPad Mini and I was trying to sync everything via iCloud.  I finally got Contacts figured out, but as I was trying to sync it all, my calendars have disappeared.  I can't find a place to enable or disable any calendars from view.

  • Restoring lost calendar using TM with new MobileMe calendar sync enabled

I have several Macs set to sync my calendars using the new MobileMe calendar.
I accidentally deleted an entire calendar, and it has now been deleted from all computers as well as MobileMe.
I have a Time Machine backup of one of the computers.
Can I simply restore ~/Library/Calendars from the TM backup and have everything sync through MobileMe properly again?
I know the procedure for backing up calendars has changed for people using the new MM calendar, and am afraid that change may also break the old TM restore procedure for iCal...

BusyMac has all the info you need about this and it isn't great news.

  • Sidebar missing from iCal in Lion - seeking a third party product to restore lost functionality

Apple has removed the sidebar, the always-on list of calendars that required no click.
The shallow popover that appears only when clicked — obscuring part of the calendar before disappearing — is to me (and some others) an unacceptable substitute for working with multiple calendars, especially where calendars are grouped across multiple servers.
I'm aware of third party alternatives to iCal. (Most full-featured calendar interfaces do have an always-on full-height list of calendars. Probably the best known alternative to iCal is BusyCal.)
This topic does not seek alternatives; I do wish to continue using iCal, albeit in a way that is less frustrating than what Apple forces upon users of 10.7.
    This topic seeks:
a third party product that will restore lost functionality to iCal.
To any developer who reads this topic: please, I beg you, on my knees, submit your iCal sidebar app — or whatever you wish to call it — to the App Store as soon as you can. I'll gladly pay, and more than gladly help to test any pre-Store development version.
Other readers please note: whilst I'm extraordinarily frustrated by Apple's design decision, this is not an invitation to rant. Let's gain something constructive from this discussion.
If you wish Apple to restore the sidebar to iCal, as an option, then please:
submit iCal feedback to Apple, with your use case; explain why for you personally the limited disappearing popover is a poor substitute; explain how the sidebar will improve both (a) your productivity and (b) your appreciation of Apple's software.
Side note: no category includes iCal, so I file this opening post under Using Mac OS X v10.7 Lion.
    Thank you

    the new way
Many things in the new iCal are beautifully designed. I am certain that the new iCal will be enjoyed by people who use the new multi-session screen sharing for Mac OS on iOS (that should be a separate topic).
iCal's aqua popover default may be perfect for people who have only a handful of calendars.
    Critically
The new design fails completely to offer an always-on full-height list of calendars — invaluable when working with more than a handful of things.
The screenshot below, taken whilst evaluating BusyCal, shows a subset of my list of calendars (more than the average user, that's why an always-on list is so valuable). In shot: three accounts on a CalDAV server. I have other, lesser used accounts on other CalDAV servers. Also some use of Exchange servers. My own case is extreme but there's a guiding principle for a variety of use cases:
some users need to see the list of calendars all the time.
What's exmplified below has become impossible in iCal 5.0 (1535) in Mac OS X 10.7 (Build 11A511).
I plead with Apple, or a third party developer, to restore the sidebar list of calendars to iCal.
Apple's limitation is acceptable when the user has only two calendars —
    — but for some other classes of user, completely inappropriate.
The percentage of users troubled by the loss of functionality may be less than the percentage enjoying the popover, but that in itself does not reduce the trouble, the frustration.
The sidebar was present in 10.4, removed in 10.5. Many users of 10.5 complained.
The sidebar reappeared in 10.6. Removal in 10.7 is almost completely dumbfounding.
I would like to say, "give it time — the more you use it, the more it will be appreciated" but for me this is not true. For some weeks I tried to work with this build of iCal and the more I used it, the greater the frustration. I grew to avoid iCal.
In most ways the feature set of iCal is unequalled. Support for many standards is excellent. The removal of the sidebar is a blight on this brilliance.
I plead with Apple or a third party developer to fix this at the earliest opportunity. I want Apple iCal — but user-friendly, not crippled.

  • Can I retrieve a lost calendar from a back-up?

Lost Calendar: I have an 8 GB MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011) processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and 16 GB iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1.3. I am using Calendar version 8.0. About a week ago my primary calendar which I share with my husband just went missing from computer, my phone and his phone. He noticed it. I was not aware of doing ANYTHING that would have deleted this calendar, nor did I have any warning that I might be deleting it. I attempted to restore from a back-up but do not have the expertise required if it is even possible.

  • Lost calendar events....

I just tried to sync my ical on my iPad with my iPhone and lost all my events!  Is there a way to retrieve those events?

Do you currently use Outlook on your PC for calendar events? If so and you wanted to sync your iPhone's calendar with Outlook's calendar, why would you select Calendars for replace info on your iPhone? If this didn't replace your iPhone's calendar events with your Outlook calendar events, this indicates you are not currently using Outlook for calendar events.
Do you have Outlook 2003 or 2007?
If you haven't synced your iPhone with iTunes again since this happened, do not sync your iPhone again. Try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup.
If this restores the calendar events and contact info on your iPhone and it should, if you have Outlook 2003 or 2007, before syncing contacts and calendar events with Outlook, enter one unique contact and one calendar event in Outlook. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data with Outlook, which you want to select.

  • Lost Calendar Using Mountain Lion

OMG someone please help! I recently notice that one of my 8 calendars is missing! My guess is that it happened when i was updating to ML yes i know should always wait. Can someone please help me figure out a way to locate my lost Calendar ? i've never used Time Machine in this situation. I should also say that it's also gone from icloud which means it's lost in my iphone and ipad!
Any help would be greatly appreicative.

You cannot see it because it is hidden.. one of those great things apple does.. if it is hidden in your Mac then it will be hidden in the Time Machine Backup.
You will need to restore the entire folder to a different location.. and unhide it.
There is some info here about restoring particular files or folders.
    http://pondini.org/TM/16.html
And some info from Lion which should also relate to Mountain Lion.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3231381?start=0&tstart=0
There is stuff about recovery near the end.
One wonders sometimes when Apple make these decisions if they ever think about what happens when something goes wrong. Hiding files..???

  • How can I restore my calendars from TimeMachine in Mavericks?

I have lost all my calendars (except birthdays) in messing with icloud. How do I restore my calendars from Time Machine. I don't have an active iCloud account.

    Solution;
What fixed it for me... as long as you still have this data on another device, (computer, ipad) I did a true "shut down of iphone" by holding the power and home buttons at the same time, restarted it and went to calender and hit "calendars" and like magic there all back
    My Situation:
I had this same problem, i had deleted my "calenders" on my iphone in an effort to consolidate.

  • Restore MobileMe calendars from Time Machine

The new MobileMe Calendar  and Time Machine don't play nice together. This Apple Tech Note says:
'Important: Do not rely on traditional methods for backing up calendar data, such as exporting the iCal database, Time Machine, MobileMe Backup, or iTunes backups of iOS devices. Any changes to the data in the cloud will be more up-to-date than data in those backups and override a restore done from those backups.'
So if you accidentally delete your calendars,  they are deleted on MobileMe: you restore the cached versions from TM, and MobileMe promptly brings them up to date by deleting them again.
However it is possible to restore from Time Machine by following the following steps:
Turn off your internet connection. Make sure that it really is completely off.
Restore from Time Machine. This should restore your calendars to list under your MobileMe username.
Now carry out this process with each calendar:
Select a calendar listed under your MobileMe login name.
From the File menu choose Export...>Export. An .ics file will be saved at your designated destination.
Create a new calendar with the same name as the one you've just exported from, choosing 'On My Mac'.
From the File menu choose Import... Select the .ics file and choose to import it into the calendar you just created (make sure you don't import it into the MobileMe version).
Now your calendars are listed under 'On My Mac' as well as under your MobileMe login name.
Reconnect to the internet. Your MobileMe calendars will disappear as before. Now carry out the following process with each of the 'On My Mac' calendars:
Select your 'On My Mac' calendar. From the File menu choose 'Export...' then 'Export...'; from the sub-menu. This will create an .ics file at the location chosen in the Export dialog.
From the File menu choose 'New Calendar' then your MobileMe login name in the sub menu.
A new calendar called 'Untitled' will appear in your sidebar under your MobileMe login name. Change its name to that of the calendar you exported.
From the File menu choose 'Import...' then 'Import...' from the sub-menu. A navigation pane will open: navigate to and choose your exported .ics file.
iCal will ask you where to import this to. Click the drop-down menu and select the MobileMe version of your calendar (make sure not to choose the 'On My Mac' version). Import.
Your calendar contents will appear in the MobileMe version of the calendar but this may take some time. You need to leave iCal running until the rotating icon at the top of the sidebar disappears.
You can now delete the 'On My Mac' version of the calendar (control-click it in the sidebar list and choose 'Delete').
You should back up your calendars periodically by exporting the .ics files as in step 1 above and keeping them safely.

    Kevin,
Can I use Time Machine to go back and restore my old calendars so I can find that data that I lost!
You may be able to find the individual events in Time Machine, but depending upon the number of "Files" in the "Events" folder, they may be difficult to identify.
I don't want to replace the information in my Calendars, only look back at some old ones!
The data will be located in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder, which (depending upon the number of calendars) will have corresponding folders with alpha/numeric names for each one of your calendars. Open the alpha/numeric folders and you will find an Info.plist file and an "Events" folder. You can use Text Edit to open the plist file, on your current calendars which will help you to identify/narrow down the correct calendar. The "Events" folder will contain separate event files for each event with icons that display the date of the event. It will help if you know the date of your lost event(s).
Use Time Machine to recover the individual event. If/when you find the event(s) restore to your Desktop, double click the event and import it into iCal.
Also, I did a Backup in iCal. Where are those files stored?
If you did a backup using iCal, and do not remember where you specified for the backup, use Spotlight to identify where the backup file was placed. Use .icbu for the search term.
    Good Luck.
    ;~)

  • HT4901 Lost calendar

I accidentally deleted my iCloud calendar. I am able to restore from my iCloud back up but then a few seconds later, it syncs it back to the deleted version. Any advice?

Re: Lost calendar events on iPhone but they are still on Mac
Your instructions: "If the calendar on your iMac is correct you can replace the calendar on your phone with the calendar on your Mac using iTunes.  To do this, connect your phone to iTunes, click on the name of your phone on the left side andgo to the Info tab to the right.  Here, confirm that you have checked Sync Calendars.  Then, further down under Advanced Replace Information on this iPhone, check Calendars.  Click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.  This will transfer you iMac calendar to your iPhone.  When finished, eject your iPhone and confirm that your calendar is restored."
I tried following your instructions (above). It appeared to be syncing, but nothing on calendar appeared. However, when I made an entry to my calendar for today, and clicked "Done", all of the events for this month pop up.  However, when I go back one month, there is nothing-all days appear empty. But, if I click on an event that shows on the bottom of the page for that day, open it, and go back, rest of calendar events for that month show. Wish there was a way I could get it all done so I don't have to go back month by month and restore. Don't know why this happened or how to prevent it in the future.
Your 'fix' was very helpful. If you have any ideas how to totally restore, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

  • Help please ~ Lost calendar

Hi, this is probably a dumb question, but is there anyway to restore a calendar that has been deleted? When my mobile me account ended, I was disabling all the settings on the phone for that account. Well, I did not know what I was doing when I was prompted to delete that info from the phone...thought my calendar was separate from the mobile me account...well, it was not. I really, desperately need to restore my calendar. Is there any way this is possible? Could there be a copy saved somewhere? Please help... Thanks...

It's likely that you have lost the calendar. Calendars are not included in a backup so restoring a backup will not help. The only hope I can see is if you were syncing MobileMe with a calendar app on your computer, such as Microsoft Outlook. If so you should be able to sync from that app to the phone.

  • I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?

I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?

Please always post your System details when you have a query. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3397
Leopard: when the upgrade is completed iCal on Leopard will not be able to see the MobileMe calendars until an additional process is carried out, detailed in this Apple Tech Note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4330
Tiger: iCal on Tiger cannot read the MobileMe calendars, period. The only workaround is to upgrade to Leopard, or Snow Leopard if possible (Intel Mac required).
