Restore MacBook Air v1.1 but how to get os x 10.7
I restored my macbook air due to a crashed harddisk. I was running 10.7 (on line purchase), have the original 10.6 Snow Leopard, but need to upgrade to 10.7. How?????
Mac OS X 10.6.6 and newer version have got the App Store. Look in your Dock for the Mac App Store icon, and press it.
If you don't find OS X Lion as a purchased item, maybe it's hidden. Unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If, after doing everything, you can't get Lion, contact with the App Store support > http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact

I have iTunes on an old pc and am thinking of buying a MacBook Air. I am wondering how to get the content of my iPad on to the Mac as I know that sync only happens in one direction, from pc to device. I assume therefore that when I attach my pad to the new Mac it will sync to an empty iTunes and I will have lost all the content of my pad. I know I can restore purchases, but what about contacts, calendar, photos and music not purchased from apple. I have a fairly recent backup on a pen drive but it is a usb2 device and is formatted for a pc. Any advice would be appreciated.
Do I copy my media library or from a backup. I have a backup on my pc and on an external drive. This drive is usb2 and formatted for windows so I can't connect it to a MacBook Air to make the transfer. Equally I don't think there is a way to connect the 2 computers via a cable ie usb2 one end and usb3 the other. Will the computers talk to each other via wifi if I enable home share although I think this is only for music which still leaves contacts, mail etc.
I am sorry to be such an ignoramus but any further help would be appreciated. -

Click off the flags of the countries you want--like if you need a British keyboard that has a British pound symbol, pick that one.
When you're done picking, them leave preferences. Now, in the upper right-hand corner of your computer, next to the date, you'll see a little flag. Click on that. You'll see all the flags you picked. Choose the one you want. Your keyboard will now give you the symbols, letters, etc. that you would get if you'd bought the computer in that country. -
I was looking at buying a MacBook Air from Staples but I notice it gas a Mountain Lion os. Will I have a problem downloading new Mavericks OS X and will I have to upload my purchase receipt when I try to download?

If you do it only for your user, you can try resetting permissions > http://osxdaily.com/2011/11/15/repair-user-permissions-in-mac-os-x-lion/
If this doesn't work, open Disk Utility from Recovery (if you have OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, pressing Command and R keys while your Mac is starting) or the Mac OS X DVD (if you have Snow Leopard or older, pressing C key while your Mac is starting), select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair permissions.
If this doesn't work, reinstall Mac OS X -

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. But check your TV manual to see if it has audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
If you have the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody or Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the Mini DisplayPort rather than the Mini-DVI there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

The Mini-DVI port doen't carry audio at all. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports.
To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here. -

Sorry. If your tabs aren't restores and "Restore Recently Closed Tabs" is grayed and there aren't any windows to restore then the tabs from that session are lost. It is better to bookmark tabs that are important by clicking the star on the location bar or bookmark all open tabs to prevent such issues. You can try to find them in the history (History > Show All History).

I'm a MB Pro beginner (after 25 years with PC). I have an Iomega ext HD, but how do get it indexed?, and it doesn't come up with any results I'm trying searches in Finder, and it says "searching Iomega drive" - but I don't think it's indexing. How do I force it to index?
Well I'm leaning the other way. I think my present MBP will be the last Apple product I buy.
With the way Apple is going, all New Mac computers are sealed unit that don't allow the user to upgrade them in any way. They are getting more expensive initially. They are impossible to fix, even by Apple. All the parts are either soldered to the Logic Board or glued inside the case parts. The add on warranty only covers manufacturing defects and is expensive. And to fix one out of waranty is close to if not more then a new system.
The only thing different in a Mac, and most other products Apple sells, is the operating system and the cases they come in. As for the OS both have their glitches and at this time there are no viruses that infect OS X. There is more software available for Windows. More choices as to what hardware you can use or upgrade to at a later date.
Mac computers are becoming large iPads or iPhones with built in keyboards.

Error 1015 means either you're trying to restore to an earlier iOS version, which is not supported, or you previously hacked the phone - jailbroken or iOS downgrade. In the later case, you can no longer restore or update.

I think ive just done it! I think ive been in Safari clicking file, open files, downloads - and thats where it was grey. i just went from the 'Finder' icon and was able to download its doing it now. i think i need some tuition as i dont know if i wasi n the wrong place initially but i could see the downloads just not click on them.
